Pacific Lime

Pacific Lime is a bright, fun scent from a house that is known for making great citrus forward scents. The problem with this line is that they all burn out quickly, which is the nature of the compositions. And to make matters more difficult, most Ateliers are colognes, so a lower concentration of the notes and accords. Then there’s the price, you’re going to pay a lot for that short lived cologne. So although I have no issue with scents that have a short life span, (see my rave reviews for the Aqua Allegoria’s from Guerlain), I don’t want to pay a premium. All of the Aqua Allegorias can easily be found on the grey market so I think of them more as body sprays. So when I got a sample of Pacific Lime, I wasn’t expecting much based on my previous experience with the brand. I’m not sure how this was accomplished or who to specifically thank, but the perfumer managed to make this not only a beautiful citrus scent, but one that has very good performance. I’m gettting more than two hours before turning to a skin scent. Then I’m getting another hour or so before it disspaears. I agree there’s some similarities as others have pointed out to Lemon Verde, another scent I love. But Pacific Lime is bigger, fuller and more interesting with the addition of coconut and eucalyptus, which I’m going to credit with giving this scent running legs. PS: Disregard my comments above about “cologne”. I feel like a big dummy as that is just part of the company name.

LUSH LIME & CAMPHOR. Opens with a burst of minty lemon-lime that transitions into a fruity heart punctuated by a camphor note, resting on a woody coconut base. Has a watery, succulent sweet. minty & fruity quality that's all cut by the camphor-eucalyptus note. Average performance for a light summer wearing experience. Contrast to Light Blue Dolce&Gabbana: These have been compared, but I find them quite different. LB has a whispering citrus quality of light, fluffy, floaty musk punctuated by a cold lemon citrus note, while PL is more lush, minty & fruity lime punctuated by a camphor note. Roughly equivalent performance. Contrast to Mandarino di Amalfi Acqua Tom Ford: These are different, but there are similarities with fruity, minty citrus punctuated by a camphor note. MdA has mandarin instead of lime. Roughly equivalent performance. Contrast to Mango Peach Paradise Calgon Body Spray: These are different, but again there are similarities with fruity citrus punctuated by a camphor note. MPP is more fruit forward and has mango punctuated by camphor, instead of lime punctuated by camphor. MPP projects better at first, but PL has better longevity. Overall: Beautiful scent profile and a nice twist with the camphor note. This is the perfect scent to wear for a pacific paradise vibe. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Just received my blind-bought bottle (the ateliercologne.com site takes ages to ship, and they screwed up a previous order). Let me state first what this is NOT like: This is not like Virgin Island Water (no real detectable coconut scent), Guerlain Homme l'Eau Boisee nor Guerlain Homme(no vetiver or spiciness). It actually reminds me somewhat of Lagerfeld Bois de Vetiver (blood orange, mint). But this is much better than Bois de Vetiver. It is a lime focused fragrance...a sweet lime like key limes. The spearmint and eucalyptus add a cool green vibe to it. I can also sense grapefruit, some lemon and some unknown floral accents. It is unisex...and generally while I am ok with the term unisex, I do think that unisex is a spectrum, and a scent can lean more feminine or masculine. That being said, this is one of the few scents that I think straddles the term unisex! There are notes that can fall on either side. The floral notes tend feminine, but the mint and lime lean more masculine. It is definitely a summer sunshine scent though (as I am wearing it in -3C winter weather). Sillage is average (good), and I will update with longevity. It is a wonderful pleasant scent. Definitely a great addition to the Atelier library, and I think one of their better scents.

I refer to fragrances like this "rich b*tch" fragrances, because I would keep reapplying them if I was rich to keep the beautiful top notes going all day. The opening is SO, so good. It's just subLIME (hehe)! Honestly, it's one of the best openings I've experienced in recent times. I'll parrot what others have said - this doesn't have good longevity unfortunately. It's the only drawback. After about 20 minutes the coconut begins to take over, and it stays sweetly coconutty for the remainder of the duration. I also get almost as much lemon too, it's super delicious. Atelier truly is masterful with their citruses, they're bright and juicy, but not overly sweet, they still keep some of their zestiness. From 30 minutes until about an hour and a half, it feels like equal parts mint and coconut. It's really difficult to explain, but something about this is incredibly relaxing. It smells expensively simplistic too, like a high-end resort (or how I imagine that to be, I haven't been to one). I wish it didn't fade so quickly, because like Clémentine California, I really love this citrusy composition. I think I love CC a bit more still, but this is lovely! 🏖

Oh I absolutely love this fragrance! A very fresh citrus opening, very clear lime and a bit of lemon! That opening lasts about an hour and then it starts to shift to a creamier scent with coconut, and yet it remains fresh because of the mint and eucalyptus notes. It is slightly sweet, and makes me think of a refreshing drink by the sea. I am one that loves fresh scents, and living in the tropics I dont find myself enjoying many fragrances, cause it is so hot and humid. On top of that I suffer from migraines so I have to be careful about what I smell. This doesn't give me a headache nor does it make me feel nauseaus. Fresh citrus opening! In fact, I tried most of the Atelier Cologne fragrances in the Macy's counter, and none gave me a headache. Normally even smelling 1 or 2 different perfumes is enough to leave me dizzy for an entire day, but these fragrances were different. My other faves are Pomelo Paradis and California Clementine, but I don't have full size bottles of those two sadly. The only negative thing is that the silage is a bit weak, but then again I am wearing perfume for myself, not for others.
