Pomelo Paradis

Expectations are a funny thing in perfumery. The more one gets into "the hobby," the more they tend to affect one's response to a new fragrance. For my part, I have come to expect solid performance out of my favorite perfumes. I'm not necessarily interested in "beast mode" or "nuclear" projection, but I do expect a fragrance to last more than a few hours on my skin. There is simply no reason to spend good money on one that does not. Sadly, this is where Pomelo Paradis falls short, as do so many great citrus-based creations. It is all the more disappointing here because Ralf Scwhwieger has created a piercingly beautiful pink grapefruit note that stands out from an increasingly crowded field. The opening notes in PP are among the most uplifting, soul-satisfying I have ever experienced. It is impossible not to smile when you first apply this. Not only that, but the transformation from pink grapefruit to peony is so artfully and effortlessly done, it feels like "destiny." Schwieger's work here is convincing enough to make one think that peonies grow from pink grapefruit seeds. That said, the ride is a short one. I get about 3 hours of light projection in total, and only 30-45 minutes of that lovely opening. Schweiger seems committed to this terrain, so perhaps he will come up with a way to make it last in a future creation. I am rooting for him! Overall rating: * * * 1/2 A very good perfume, but performance is not sufficient.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on a sample of this one: I love Atelier Cologne for their natural, straightforward, lovely scents, and their citrus fragrances especially have been big hits with me. It seems they won't stop until they've made a great incarnation of every citrus fruit out there, and it seems like I won't stop until I've collected them all. Pomelo Paradis is no exception to this rule: it's a wonderful interpretation of grapefruit (or pomelo, I guess), and it's already on my wish list. It's very natural indeed, but it's not not just a reproduction of the way grapefruit smells, like the Body Shop's Pink Grapefruit, for instance (which I also love): it's definitely a perfume, and the other notes, though not really possible to pick out separately, play their part in emphasizing that. The usual bitter(sweet) bracing quality of a real freshly cut grapefruit isn't what this scent is about; it's a sweeter version, powdery at first and a bit soapy later on. Like with most Ateliers I like the delightfully bright opening the best; which is a good thing because almost by definition these citrus colognes don't last very long and frequent respraying is a must, so you can experience that lovely opening pretty often

I have recently realized how much this scent makes me happy, and I wonder how easily I could forget about it, so from now on, it will be at the front so that I use it more frequently. I love hesperides, and mostly grapefruit/pomelo scents. Pomelo Paradise is one of the best. This is a HAPPY pomelo scent that gives you the mouth-watering feeling of the grapefruit flesh, without the bitterness. There is absolutely no sharpness or so, that most citrus-dominated scent might have- Pomelo Paradise is very round, Bright and intoxicating scent. Like drinking chilled juice on a hot summer day. Soft sillage, but I can still feel the scent on my body, warmed by the temperature, after 5-6 hours, it is a decent longevity for a hesperide, imho. If you buy a 200 ml bottle, the price per ml is not that expensive, and a Little goes a long way (I usually use 5 sprays). I would totally recommend to try for everyone, espeially for citrus fans, even fans of florals, even gourmand fans (pomelo Paradise has a little bit of a sorbet feeling).

Evoked Pomelo with Lime Lifesavers & Sparkling Tangerine... This is quite a realistic pomelo scent evoked by a blend of other notes. The blend of citrus & fruit in the opening reads like pomelo, with green & citrus tones of sweetened lime (like lime Lifesavers) & sparkling tangerine. All the notes are there, but they're supporting the illusion of perfectly ripe pomelo: Grapefruit is there with its zest but it's lacking it's musky pith; faint mint is there supporting the green aromatic tones (and I agree with other reviewers that the mint doesn't smell like toothpaste as can sometimes be the case with mint - particularly in some vintage scents I've noticed). Gorgeous sweet green citrus scent, but performance is average to below average for projection, and average for longevity for a citrus scent. I just have a sample of this and probably an aged bottle would perform better, or performance would be appropriate for warm weather. For what it is, it's a love for me. Enjoy!

Atelier joins the ranks of Hermes (Eau de Pamplemousse Rose) and Guerlain (Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune) at getting the elusive grapefruit note right! There are so many nasty, synthetic efforts to create an olfactory impression of a grapefruit out there - so full credit to Atelier. Another reviewer called the top notes of this "hyperrealistic," and I concur. It's like squeezing a grapefruit onto yourself, which I unexpectedly found to be a nice experience. The drydown is a gentle ambery note. The same structure as the Varvatos scents, really: a citrus top end on amber. Iris? Okay, but I don't get that. I like it a lot! A nice scent with a real zing... This kind of scent isn't normally my thing but I can see myself wearing this on warm days. Longevity: As usual with citrus scents, a problem. I put it on at 11 AM and it's 2:30 PM now and it's pretty much gone. I can barely smell it on my cotton tee shirt top. Pity.

This is a great fragrance! Pomelo Paradis smells just like you cut open a ruby red grapefruit and laid it over a fruit salad outside by the garden. It's juicy, natural, and completely fresh. The drydown takes an unexpected turn and rather than opting for a typical base of white musk and wood, Paradis incorporates a sweet amber accord that just gives it that soft, luscious sort of conclusion, which is definitely a welcome twist as far as I'm concerned. Projection is solid for the first hour or two, and close to the skin thereafter. Longevity seems about 6 hours. This is hands down the best grapefruit-centered fragrance I've experienced and possibly one of the best fruity fragrances as well. It also makes the room smell great after you apply it. Completely unisex, very uplifting, and totally upbeat, I'm recommending Pomelo Paradis as a blind buy to anybody who's looking for this type of scent. Thumbs up.

I love this one. I haven’t got a lot of experience with the brand but have smelt most of them at least once. For me this is definitely the best followed by California Clementine & Orange Sanguine. This is citrus done right and a note like grapefruit has been done so many times in popular designer scents but this smells different. It opens with a high quality bitter grapefruit. After a few minutes it smooths out a bit and the grapefruit gets more tart like. In the background there’s definitely some sort of vanilla vibe going on (not sure if it’s in the note listing as I haven’t really studied the full list). For anyone looking for a bright unisex high quality natural smelling citrus, definitely worth a try. Even if the dry down falls a bit flat I still think the opening is well worth it and just keeps me wanting to respray it through the day.

If you ever wondered were you can find photorealistic citrus fragrances that are one of a kind and very hard to imitate or copy look no further than atelier cologne They made the best impression of oranges with orange sanguine And here the best representation of pomelo ever made The great Ralf schweger is definitely the greatest perfumer of citrus based scents I don’t think any other perfumer has the talent that Mr Ralf has Although longevity is very bad and projection is bad after the first hour still the perfumers talent makes me personally ignore the performance which if you have any idea of what kind of fraghead im it is definitely a big deal for me If you have any experience regarding citruses and you like smelling them on yourself then it’s a must have for you

A most excellent citrus scent, as photo-realistic as Orange Sanguine is for an Orange, Pomelo Paradis is that for a Pomelo. The nuanced ambery notes in the dry down also serves to round it up nicely and adds performance. The uniqueness stems from Pomelo being not as common a citrus note and in Pomelo Paradis it is clearly a Pomelo note and not any other citrus (not grapefruit, not yuzu, and definitely not bergamot/orange/lime). Another great one from Atelier Cologne, who continues to show that they make great scents! I have no problems with longevity which is in the 7-8 hours range... Sillage is moderate and turns softer after 4 hours. Good performance especially for a citrus focused scent!

Its a simple scent based on pomelo or grapefruit. Its very fresh and really works great in the summer. On the other hand, its not that complex and Im not sure where the other notes have disappeared (vetiver, rose, amber etc??). Its very realistic and thats a plus, but it has weak longevity on skin, though much better on clothes. On my skin it lasts around 2-4 hours depending on temperature, air flow (wind), and activity level. I could smell on clothes for a couple of days with very soft projection. My advice is get this if you want a realistic grapefruit perfume, but expect to go through your bottle faster than the average EDT. Performance wise its more of an EDC really.

This opens as a very realistic pomelo, could almost taste it! As it starts to settle you get this sweetness that I can't describe. It isn't sugary, but it is not the sweetness of a specific fruit either. I LOVE this one. I have a sample, and lucky for me, I liked this one more on my skin than in the little paper, usually the opposite is true. I will buy a full bottle of this someday for sure, right now only own Pacific Lime from this house I fell in love instantly with it. I live in a very humid, hot island. If it isn't raining, it is super sunny outside and super warm. This is the type of fragrance that I enjoy in here, refreshing!

I knew i would love the scent itself, but based on reviews and its composition I expected that it would be gone in a few hours. I had a pleasant surprise. I applied the sample fresh out of the package :-) more than 6 hours ago and I can still smell it. And I am not young (read: I am old, 56 to be exact) so I would not have expected that. OK, it is really a skin scent now but it still makes me very happy when I put my nose to my wrist and catch that lovely dry-down. I am not going to buy a full bottle but get samples/decants occasionally because this kind of scent just makes me happy.

Atelier are so good at creating very photorealistic citrus fragrances and this one is no exeption. The mandarin and the grapefruit are truly the main stars here, then after a while a refreshing mint appears (that doesn't smell like tooth paste). In the drydown it becomes a little powdery due to the iris note, but still with the grapefruit and mandarin being the most prominent ones. I love it so much! I wish they made had an edP version of it. Or at least an edT, because the longevity isn't very good. But the other hand it's a cologne after all.

I actually would love to own a 200ml of it and use it up during summer. The hyper realistic grapefruit burst is lighthearted and uplifting and surely great for high temperatures, when you think you can never have too many showers in one day. I realy enjoy Orange Sanguine positivity, but Pomelo is less sweet, it is a beautiful refreshingly bitter zesty zing. And it fleets so fast and so beautiful from the heated sweating skin. But with 200ml bottle even the people who prefer of only few perfumes at a time would make the most of it.

Gone in sixty seconds. Literally. The scent is wonderful grapefruit and punchy citrus but it’s gone so fast it’s just not worth it to me. I sprayed on skin with lotion, clothes, and hair and I just can’t get it to last longer than an hour. Spraying on bare skin it will vanish in about a minute. If you reapplied constantly it could be great but that’s not something I’m interested in. Lovely scent though. It smells like fresh squeezed juice and zest and it brightens the room when sprayed.

Atelier Cologne - Pomelo Paradis Ouuu this is a yummy soft pink citrus. There's some soft sweetness that I think is from a floral. Smells like something from Lush or a bubble bath. I picture the pomelo and grapefruit. This might be a new favorite from their line. Would be best for daytime spring and summer. Much more femme. Arms length sillage. I find it fades kind of fast. I wouldn't buy it, but I might keep a small bottle if gifted. They would make a very nice bath product.

Pomelo Paradis is my easiest scent to wear, and one of my top 5 favorites. It's perfect for a hot day when you just want a light, fresh scent, and it's also perfect for a not-so-hot day when you want a little pick-me-up. It citrusy like the peel of citrus more than the juice, though there's a sparkling grapefruit juice quality in there too. Slightly sweet, slightly tart. It's like the perfect ice cold glass of lemonade on a hot day - it just hits the spot.

Pomelo Paradis by Atelier Cologne smells like gummy bears! This is a happy, bright citrus scent just bursting with juicy pink grapefruit and sweetened up with orange blossom. This is such a happy scent, very sunny and easy to wear – get loads of compliments on it too! The longevity and sillage are not great, but I enjoyed the fragrance too much to pass it up, I had to get a bottle! So spray liberally and bring the bottle to freshen-up with later!

Pomelo Paradis is citrus at it's best. First spray you get a sweet blast of grapefruit with mandarin and orange blossom. The dry down is very mellow and pleasant. It lasts a very long time on my skin. It is perfect for summer days when it gets hot, hot and hotter here in South Florida. It projects very well in the heat. I am very pleased with this Pomelo Paradis and Atelier Cologne for making excellent quality fragrances.

I get pomelo first, all grapefruit peel, sharp, citrusy, almost resinous, like zest left to dry in the sun. Slightly dusty too, more sun-warmed than fresh. I also pick up a green, minty edge that stops it from going flat or too linear, along with a slightly soapy orange blossom and this tart-sweet orange caramel, sharp and sugary at the same time. I like it a lot. It’s bright, refreshing, and just easy to wear.

Pomelo Paradis, "Yes, please." This is a really good freshie. I drained my 7.5 ml super fast. The grapefruit is realistic and the dry down to me leans a little feminine with white flowers but its balanced nicely with a rich, aromatic base. PP has a fair amount of longevity for a cologne and the sillage is good for work. If you like grapefruit and a warm dry down..Pomelo Paradis is a good choice for you.

I love the smell of citrus but it turns into BO on me. Not this one. It smells exactly like fresh squeezed Pomelo that does not morph into underarm alarm stench on me. Like all citrus scents it does not last very long and I am so hesitant to keep respraying because of the hefty price tag. Really love this for summer and get a ton of compliments within the first 20 minutes of spraying

Starts out with the most beautiful realistic mandarin peel scent and then within the first 10 minutes the orange blossom note becomes more prominent which makes the composition resemble the scent of Orange Tic Tacs. I like all notes here but the opening notes are so beautiful I wish they could last longer. I find myself reapplying often just to revive them again and again.

Love this.... Sprayed it on my skin, smelt it, & got my wallet out & bought it on the spot longevity is not fantastic, 1 hour of projection & then tones down to a skin scent for the next 3- 4 hours on my skin.. So I get roughly around 4-5 hours with this one.. But when something smells this good, I don't really care that I have to reapply this to last 8 hours

My favorite one in this brand. Smells like peeling a real blood orange right in front of me : ) Zesty aroma from the citrus oil, bitterness from the white part of skin, and the sweetness of the juice. Personally I think the citrus scent in here is more realistic than Orange Sanguine.

One of my favorites from the line. Delicious cologne from beginning to end. I wish it projected more but if they made it more concentrated maybe it would lose the beauty? I'm not a perfumer so I could be totally wrong. I only tested this once but I enjoyed it. Smell 9/10

This is the best pomelo fragrance i have ever smelled in my life, i'll buy this for myself when i get rich, i have no idea if this is long lasting or no but the pomelo is so realistic and fresh smelling that it makes it totaly worth it in my opinion.

Photorealistic citrus that doesn't smell too sweet; feels like peeling open an orange with your hands. It has abysmal sillage and longevity on me but I do enjoy the moment after spraying because it smells so fresh and delicious.

This is a beautiful summer scent: tart, fresh, citrusy and grapefruity. As others have said, the sillage and longevity are poor, which is unfortunate. It's expensive, so I would buy something similar that lasts longer.

Advent calendar sample was just what I expected from Atelier, another well done citrus scent. I think of all fragrance brands they do some of the most "true" scented citrus'. This one is very fresh and very unisex.

It is a sugary, very sour, very lemony scent that smells like lemon lollipop. And although the longevity is not very good, for me it's still one of the favorites for the summer.

Fulfills a dream I never knew I had of smelling like an orange Tic-Tac. Stunning. Wonderful. Not particularly complex. Probably my favorite citrus from Atelier Cologne.

This is an absolutely delicious, fruity, fresh, photorealistic pomelo. Positively mouth-watering. Alas, it lasts about 5 minutes on me.

My high school principle loudly announced something smelled so good when I walked past him. I think about this moment often.

Holliday scent ! Very citrusy , and fresh .Summer smell

Its pleasant, nice and very wearable. Its a little juicy, but basically at the end of the day it smells just like some sort of bubble bath kinda soap you might use. Longevity is good, but projection is low however you do get wiffs of it through out the day. I do agree it leans a little on the feminine side. A story actually about those last 2 parts maybe even proving this point. So I put this one on earlier in the day one time. I thought that it had basically disappeared and was skin scent mode. A girl wanted to hang out said she had to take a shower first. Anyway as we were hanging out that day, everytime a gust of wind came I got this really nice almost cozy, snuggly(but deff kinda girly)wiff. At the end of the day I told her she smelled really good today. She was like what? No thats you basically. So ya kinda awkward funny when I realized oh, I still can smell it, it is me lol. So I guess this leaves a bit of a deceptive scent trail. And the amber in this does come out a bit even with all the fresh aspects to give it a bit of cuddly comfortable feeling in the air. But considering I thought it was her, ya probably leans a little feminine. lol Anyway tldr its nice but cant justify owning a full bottle of it as is for me personally. I feel like most the atelier stuff for me that ive worn are basically just sorta "dumb reachs" if you will. Something safe just to wear out and feel clean and inoffensive. But as it is, I already own to many fragrances that fit this criteria.

The opening of Pomelo Paradis is such a delight: sweet, juicy, sparkling and effervesent, like orange soda. I seem to be going against the vibe here, as on my skin, there's only a brief aromatic tartness in the few minutes of the opening, and Pomelo Paradis lacks the characteristic bitterness of grapefruit. Therefore, I'm reminded of a high-end orange soda instead of a realistic grapefruit. Like most fragrances in Atelier Cologne's Collection Originale such as Orange Sanguine and Cédrat Enivrant, most notes in the pyramid of Pomelo Paradis are tangential on me, and serve to complement the eponymous material. Here, the orange soda turns into orange gummy bear, as the texture of the scent somehow turns a bit more opaque and chewy, probably due to iris and amber. Pomelo Paradis has a soft sillage on me, and the longevity is around 7 hours. Compared to Orange Sanguine, Cédrat Enivrant and Bergamote Soleil, Pomelo Paradis is probably the least realistic citrus fragrance among them, and the sweetest as well. While Pomelo Paradis is not unbearably artificial to my taste, I must admit that the gummy bear phase is not my favourite either, and I wish the orange soda phase could last longer. Because of this unexpected warmth and sweetness on me, I think it can work pretty well in a cool spring/autumn day as well, thus quite versatile year-round.

Pomelo Paradis features a beautiful, radiant grapefruit note at its opening - easily the highlight of this scent as it fades very quickly. Zesty, juicy and realistic, it is possibly the nicest grapefruit note I've encountered. Pomelo itself, not listed among the notes here, is supposed to smell like a cleaner, brighter grapefruit and this is my experience of the opening here. It is nicer than Jo Malone for Zara Vetiver Pamplemousse, or even my beloved Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune. The grapefruit note shines, bolstered by sweet mandarin and a hint of mint, keeping things fresh. Some subtle orange blossom complements it. Very soft powdery florals notes emerge - rose and iris - but are barely there, only detectable after the citrus opening subsides. A little bit of grassy vetiver is evident in the drydown, always a great accompaniment to citrus. It fades to nothing after a little while. Sillage is momentarily moderate, and longevity is weak. It is freshly unisex. Well-composed and beautiful throughout, PP loses points for its abysmal performance, rendering it ultimately disappointing and overpriced. However, it has the nicest opening of any Atelier Cologne I've tried, even Orange Sanguine - and I adore it. 4/5.

I'm trying this on in February, and it's not hot, so that makes a difference, since I think this is more refreshing and desirable in the summer. However, I'm sticking to my Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pampelune (which lasts longer and has a less linear, more complex dry down). This is a burst! A sizzle! A smack of instant, fresh, incredibly realistic grapefruit (or okay, Pomelo, fine). It's tart and tangy and a wake-up call that lasts about two minutes. And then it's gone. Totally gone. One has to ask herself two questions: 1) Do I want to smell like a grapefruit? 2) Do I want my cologne or perfume to last? The answer to one is "no" and the other is "yes"--and here it cancels out. You won't smell like a grapefruit for long. I would never buy a full-bottle of this, but one thing I do (that may seem "wasteful) is in the morning, I spritz a bit of Atelier Clementine (or one of the Aquas--pick one--Herba Fresca say) onto a hot cloth or facial wipe for a pick-me-up to just bury my face in for a few minutes. It's very revivifying like a "cup of coffee" for the senses. It instantly puts me in a cheerful mood, and in about 10 minutes is gone. This would be perfect for that, but not FB perfect at the price.

This is a absolute LOVE for me! Atelier does citrus like no other. Juicy, hyper realistic and natural smelling with very good longevity. Orange Sanguine is my all time favorite orange scent, and for what that fragrance did for oranges.....Pomelo Paradis does for grapefruit.(which is to say, PERFECTION! imho;) I haven't had the pleasure of smelling a pomelo yet, but this scent opens with the most lovely ruby red grapefruit smell. Tart and sweet at the same time, with a little greenness in there as well. The ever so slight florals creep in and balance things out nicely. Slowly transitioning to the base with a amber and vetiver backbone. Also during the entire duration of this fragrance, the beautiful citrus note is always there and never vanishes. The blending of the notes is impeccable here. The longevity of this isn't on par with Orange Sanguine.(3 sprays lasts me ALL day) But it still gives me a solid 5-6hrs, which in my book is very good for a citrus cologne. Absolutely awesome frag!

I smelled this at Sephora once and fell in love with it. Finally! I thought, a summer scent that is not the same old same old coconutty sunscreen, citrus and other fruit punch. I was in Las Vegas last week, and since it was splurge time, I got the small bottle. $80 (before tax) for 1oz. is rather outrageous, but since it's labeled Pure Perfume, I thought, oh well, at least it will last long. Yeah, right. The scent is still divine. But I bloody well marinate in this stuff and it lasts 2 hours top. I am quickly running out of patience with these robber barons in the perfume industry, who charge you the earth for small bottles of watered down scents ... oh, pardon me, I meant "light" scents, of course (rolleye). In short, no cigar. I won't repurchase this. I'll stick to my heady scents, thank you very much. At least I get satisfaction from of them. And if people don't like the way I smell they can do the other thing.

I think the comparisons to The Body Shop's Pink Grapefruit are pretty accurate. Don't get me wrong - Pomelo Paradis is way more complex, and has none of the sharp and uncomfortable bite that TBS PG has. But they're similar enough that I, too, smelled this and went "wait, doesn't this smell like PG?" immediately. I'll say that I like this A LOT more than TBS PG. Pomelo Paradis is sugared grapefruit candy compared to PG's bitter breakfast grapefruit. PP is comforting, and the amber and orange blossom provide a softness that makes this a really good cozy citrus scent. The sillage is very minimal, and the longevity is under an hour on my skin. It has no sharp bite, and no bitter edge. $80 for 1oz of Pomelo Paradis, or $14 for 1oz of TBS PG, which has a similar drydown, similar longevity, and similar sillage? I'll be buying TBS PG in PP's place...

Last summer I spent many evenings travelling home on busy hot trains, beads of sweat ticking my brow, the sky through the train window an identical colour to the label of the bottle and the sun sinking ever closer the horizon like a gigantic glowing grapefruit. I bought a 200ml bottle of Pomelo Paradis at a very good price for the sole purpose of refreshing my train journeys next summer. Many people complain about the short longevity of this perfume (and many like it) but I live for the top notes of certain frags. I decant them in atomisers and spritz them with gay abandon throughout the day. My colleagues suck on their cigarettes with curious contemplation while I close my eyes, spritz my perfume and lift my face to the slowly setting sun and submit to the seduction of the scent.

This is really nice but doesn't knock my socks off. A refreshing sugared grapefruit scent, sweet and sour. The kind of fresh citrus that doesn‘t smell like a cleaning product! More like a homemade, not too sweet pink lemonade with sprigs of mint in it. Maybe with a single rose blooming in the distance. Pomelo Paradis smells quite natural and would be nice to spritz on on really hot summer days. It's really simple though, there is no twist to it and it doesn't really have base notes or a drydown. Therefore it just fades away and is gone in about 3 hours even on my perfume-loving skin. To me it's not worth the price, but I would be happy to smell it on others. In my opinion it's more on the feminine side compared to other Atelier citrusses.

I never blind buy, but something possessed me to order a bottle of this stuff and wow is it good. it hasn’t dethroned my beloved Mugler Cologne, but if you love Mugler Cologne and want something a little different, take this for a spin. it’s fizzy and citrusy, and the grapefruit note has a really nice tart bitterness in there, but it also gives off the impression of very expensive soap, especially in the dry down. it’s such a relief, tbh, because the warmth from the dry down keeps it from skewing too far toward bathroom cleaner citrus. it is a cologne, so it’s not going to have the same staying power or sillage as a parfum or eau de parfum, but I was expecting that. anyone can wear this anywhere and smell great
