Silver Iris

Silver Iris has an opening with a soft fruity note of sweet orange and currants, gooseberries that immediately join the atalcado powdery iris marriage and violet leaves. This trio will form the union that causes all the fundamental essence of Silver Iris. Drying, it is added a "sweet" amber gives a denser, youthful look, something more feminine, a touch of patchouli and soft musk is also added to blend and extend the atalcada wake and sweet end (for my taste a sweet little old compared to the dusty since subtracts some prominence). This fragrance in many aspects of their development reminded me a lot Dior Homme, because although Silver Iris is fruitier and sweeter than Dior, yes it transmits that atalcado touch lipstick or makeup that has Dior Homme. medium-high quality, good length and moderate projection. Sometimes imitations of other successful fragrances tend to be somewhat unfortunate (most). I remember many: 1996 Byredo imitating Goutal Ambre Fetish, Chez Bond imitating Green Irish Tweed, to give some examples. But there are times you can improve, add or expand work already done with such an interesting or greater result than imitated, as in the case of Silver Iris compared to Dior Homme current and reformulated. People are critical of Silver Iris because of the LVEB type fruitchouli sweetness it seems to resemble, but don't give up on it yet! Yes, I agree that Silver isn't the colour for it, it's not metallic or austere or cold or anything. I would imagine the colour of the scent would more closely resemble the berry-purple hue of the cap. It's a berry-iris. In fact, the iris here competes with a very serious opponent: the blackcurrant. A sugared, tart, sparkling, vivacious note, that follows the progression of the iris all into the drydown and even somewhat outlasts it. Maybe the blackcurrant + patch + ethylmaltol give it that LVEB vibe, but this is much less a syrupy mess and much more discerning. The iris itself is a bit rooty at inception, but then gloriously fat and lipsticky later. The blackcurrant may be prancing around, but the iris makes the composition worthwhile. The waxiness fades into the powdery background as time goes on, but the iris is still formidable. The base is quite musky to me. I agree that it leans on the feminine because of the sweet fruit. It may be an iteration on the sweet fruitchouli trend, but it has a lot more to offer than the vast majority of those. Longevity is really quite good.

I only discovered the Atelier brand shortly before they began to sell off their inventory. I purchased Silver Iris due to a new-found love for "lipsticky" fragrances. This one does not disappoint. However, I've noticed something in the times I've worn this fragrance. The first time I wore this, I was working from home during Covid quarantine. I sprayed the fragrance on me and the cotton t-shirt I was wearing. The fragrance stayed with me all day. Later in the evening when I wrapped up in a blanket, the fragrance was still there and just as nice as it was earlier in the day. Then I wore it to work - in the office - on a moderately cool day. I wore a sweater and I just knew I'd be able to smell the fragrance all day long. Well, that was incorrect. The fragrance did not last long on me that day at all!!! I realized that I'd neglected to go through my normal moisturizing routine when I got dressed. It's amazing how one thing can change the entire experience with a fragrance. I'll update when I wear it to work "with" my skin properly moisturized.

Estée Lauder destroys every company they buy up and cheapens the perfumes. I have a very good trustworthy spy who tells me EL buys up these companies and reformulates the perfumes with cheaper ingredients and weakens it and ruins everything they touch. Which is why I refuse to buy anything they have reformulated. I’d rather search for vintage versions and pay more. EL destroys every company they buy up. Fragrances are weakened and ingredients replaced with much cheaper alternatives . I wish everyone would boycott this evil company. Nothing they make is any good. Not their perfumes and definitely not their crap makeup and skin care. Then again I lost all respect for all perfumers who sell out to E.L. KNOWING they will butcher their creations. They just don’t care, all these ppl see are dollar signs. Greedy ppl who don’t care about their customers. Which is why I will never re purchase this one either. PS. This is just my opinion. You don’t have to agree. But those who know the truth...know I’m right.

I guess not many people are familiar with all the variations of natural orris: the absolute, the concrete, the variations based on its origin. The smell from the vial and the opening of this - that sugary, fruity blast, is 100% tuscan orris. Personally, I find it to be a gorgeous smell, and this scent does *the best* job of capturing this particular natural orris aspect. The "fruity violets", "sugar berries", "cotton candy" - those are all facets of this particular orris absolute. I believe the intent of this scent was to be a study on the iris raw material and flesh it out into a perfume (the raw material is a bit too thin/sweet/unidimensional to be fully satisfying worn by itself). Silver Iris adds some more body, fullness and dryness, but is still quintessentially iris/orris. To say that this is not like real iris is akin to saying that MPG Route du Vetiver doesn't smell like vetiver (because you know vetiver from say, Mugler Cologne), or to say that Sarrasins doesn't smell like jasmine.

Well, last Monday was a great day for me. It was the day I discover Atelier Cologne and was very impressed indeed. I took time to sample a great amount of the colognes and bought two. I really loved Silver Iris as it reminded me of my childhood, eating those violette sweets we find anywhere in France. I understand that some reviewers are mentioning the cotton candy, sweet and violety side of the fragrance but for me it is very well balanced. Not too sweet not too powdery...and the dry down lingers beatifully on my skin. It is divine. I am lucky to have probably an amazing skin chemistry which works wonders with gragrances. What I really like with Atelier Cologne is that they seem to use real essential oils wich allows their fragrances to express themselves beautifully on my. I have a few more in sight like the Mimosa one and the Californian clementine. Smelling their fragrances is like going back to the great 90s.

A new favorite. Sophisticated, lipsticky iris with a touch of berry in the opening.... it opens with a leatherish smell, then evolves to become a fragrance that is essentially purple powder; airy, dry, comforting and gentle, but also refined and ladylike. It reminds me of being a child and getting picked up from school by my rich best friend's mom. Her name is probably Rosalind or Odette or something like that, she's drinking a $15 smoothie, and she smells like expensive makeup and whatever perfume she's wearing at the time, which mixes with the smell of her fancy car's spotless leather interior. She hates sweating so she always keeps the car at 62 degrees, but when she looks in the rearview mirror and notices you shivering, she turns on the seat warmer for you. Pair with: dark sunglasses and sensible jewelry, no-makeup makeup (mascara & Dior Lipglow), cashmere socks, almond-shaped nails painted with Funny Bunny.

I think I found my favorite lipstick fragrance! This doesn't get as much love as some other waxy, cosmetic iris scents and I wonder why. I'm not even very invested in this perfume genre, but Silver Iris hits just the right spot for me. The combination of dry, powdery iris with juicy, syrupy cassis and mandarin is just delicious. Like a dark fruity lipstick that you want to refresh every 5 minutes just because it smells so sweet. Ladylike but a little playful too. Patchouli, amber and tonka in the base add depth and warmth. Yum. There is nothing silvery and cold about this. I have an Atelier sample set and like this best of all their scents I tried, with Café Tuberosa following closely. It's not as strong as CT, but not as light and short-lived as many of their other scents. In my opinion this is more of a feminine fragrance, but of course everyone should wear what they like.

I am super getting into Atelier Cologne offerings right now. I don't think that I'vè smelled one I haven't liked. Some more than other obviously but overall I have been really impressed. I got Silver Iris as a sample when I ordered another scent from the Atelier website. I am in love with this scent. I tried it yesterday and I need it. To me, this is what the color purple smells like. I dabbed it on and thought "This smells purple." Did I mention that purple is my favorite color? I didn't realize the packaging was purple themed but how genius! I just love the interplay of the powdery, earthy iris and the sweet juicy currant note. Then that violet leaf to make it a little green, juicy, and tart. The musk supports it all so nicely. It is a pretty linear scent on me but I don't mind that at all. I need this in my life.

Atelier Cologne’s Silver Iris smells like powdery sweet metallic cherries and I absolutely LOVE it! The iris top note has the nostalgic powdery and slightly metallic smell of vintage face powders and waxy red lipsticks that women from the early 1900’s would wear. I think it is the black currant and amber mixing together that smells like cherries to me. I pick up the mimosa, pink pepper, and musk in the dry down. I would love it if they could sell this as a pure parfum because I cannot get enough of this scent, it is so lovely. I was lucky enough to snatch up a big bottle of this from ebay for a barging and I will definitely be enjoying it for many seasons to come. In encourage my fellow powdery/make-up scent lovers who like a little sweetness to try this fragrance!

Mmmnnn...what can I say? Silver Iris is an exquisite dreamy concoction! I sprayed this on and was transported to a fantasy dream. It's evening...the twilight hour...and here I am sitting in a room full of crystal, violet iris bouquets. A candlelit room in an ice castle high up in a Swedish forest dressed in periwinkle violet colored chiffon. Everything turns the color of twilight... This is a gorgeous icy iris with violet undertones and a splash of gorgeous rich black current merlot. Accords of vintage lipstick dries down to a cloud of powdery silver puffs...wafts up to 8 hours and makes me feel euphoric...like the powder on the wings of butterflies. So lady-like and refined. I can't wait to wear this in the Winter... One of my top five...

Silver Iris is quite beautiful. It was a (heavily discounted) blind buy for me and when I first tried it I was far from impressed. I guess I expected a little more sweetness, but there isn't much sweetness at all, just a little fruitiness in the opening. It's mostly dusty and cold. For me it's probably the violet leaf that keeps it from becoming a love, but I suspect that is the note that helps make this perfectly unisex. It gains some warmth when it dries down, but the musk and amber is dialed down, they've managed to make the iris stick around here. I've grown to enjoy wearing it and I think it performs quite well. People around me seem to enjoy it too

I have been wearing DH and DHI lately which is another buttery iris , it made me think of silver iris and had to reach for this. OMG I love this. It's sweeter than DH and more feminine but it does remind me a lot of it. Some other reviewer on here said the same . It's funny as only the iris note is shared between them. I would call this a gourmand fruity iris. It's very sweet and for an iris and gourmand lover a must have ! I smell the iris ,violet , black current , tangerine and Amber and vanilla. Just so enjoyable. I have to wear this for a few days strait. Wow !

Beautiful silver iris ... delicate yes proudly holding its own ground. The opening is fruity , as in purple berries... that changes shortly into a lipstick note which evolves into muskyness similar to the dry down in Light Blue Intense. Luckily that phase doesn’t last and yet again it changes into iris, fresh ,woody, resembling the iris in Hiris but without the carrot note. it’s lovely, definitely unisex, a little sweet. Lasting power is average, and silage light to medium. The scent has a sparkly quality, a fizzy texture that is refreshing and quite special .

This starts as a sweet, a bit metallic, lipsticky Iris which could be cloying for some people, but after half an hour the perfume develops into wonderful iris fragrance. The iris here is dark, heavy, and mature, it's not light fresh or powdery iris like usual iris fragrance, so this is a different kind of iris fragrance. For me, this is a compliment getter, I got noticed, and the perfume stays for 12 hours or more on skin, and stays for a day on clothes.

This is by far the sexiest iris frag around. I always say, if Jerome made it, it won't let you down. This is BY FAR the best. Problem is, performance is absolutely horrible. About 20 mins of sillage projection. Then intimate. This would WITHOUT a doubt blow GGRP OUT OF THE PARK if it had even half the staying power of RP. Can't recommend based off $ to performance. But anyone saying "this smells bad" are literally facade gatekeepers.....

Beautiful scent - I mean, what can go wrong when you mix iris, blackcurrant and violet leaf? Absolutely nothing. It’s pretty and wearable, it’s not similar to anything I’ve ever tried before, the only thing is it needs at least 10 sprays to last more than 4 hours. There’s definitely a leather effect, especially in the opening, and it just adds to the overall impression of sophistication. A purple cloud of powder.

I received a sample in the Atelier Cologne sample set. It wasn't a love at first sniff; I tried it on because it was another one on the list to try. I'm not a fan of the opening, there seems to be a bit too much pepper notes for me, but later on it's fantastic when iris and musk become distinguishable. My favourite lipstick/purple scent and something I wear when I want to feel more feminine.

I love it! I wasn't ready for it when I first tried months ago but now going back to my samples I am delighted with atelier cologne. I can smell the iris no doubt there. Reminds me o ism from lutens at first but sweeter and fruitier. I could also compare itf with iris de nuit from Healey, but iris de nuit is much more grounded. This is a sweet fruity iris. Lovely x

I'm in love. On me, it smells mostly of black currant, with enough violet and tangerine to round it out. This fragrance is mature, sexy, and playful all at the same time. I would wear it on a date, to work - everywhere! I'm so happy to have discovered such a beautiful, versatile scent. Definitely a safe blind-buy for anyone who likes the notes listed above.

I have been putting off purchasing Silver Iris until now. WOW! I am very glad I purchased it. At first spray I smell the Iris, pure Iris. Then in the dry down I smell violet leaf, amber and musk. I also detect some patchouli which gives me a sweet/chocolate smell. Very gentle and when I think it's gone, wham! I get another whiff. I am in love.

So I've heard this company has been purchased by a company (rhymes with besstay slaughter) and has been neutered. I can agree. This "beast performance" is not there for the NA version of it. Such a fucking shame. This is absolutely devine. Purchase and kill the competition, what a disgusting group of people.

Most unique and beautiful interpretation of iris ever! Truly stunning. The more I wear it the more I appreciate how deep and beautiful an iris it is. FBW for sure. Definitely NOT TOO SWEET, I get notes of their gorgeous violet, Sous le Tout in its heart and that is definitely a good thing!

Silver Iris is not a scent I would have chosen for myself. I am into scents with a lot less color on the pyramid. I received this as a bonus with an eBay purchase and I was pleasantly surprised. Pretty is the word that comes to mind. This would be nice for a sunny spring day.

Such an easy fall wear for me. Adds sophistication to any outfit. The fleeting sweetness in the top notes helps round out the vintage nature of iris and the dry down is a simple powdery musk. Patchouli is not overly aggressive here.

Wow! So many negative reviews for this fragrance. I love it though. I haven't tried a lot of iris perfumes, but this one gets no complaints from me. To me, it really does smell "silver". This is going on my want list.

Beautiful fragrance. Long lasting, not too heavy and definitely noticed by people. It’s not too sweet, but for some reason all the time makes me think about purple candys. Beautiful.

It was the love from the first sight... Sweet, powdery, also has something gourmand. I got sample and just a little bit is quite enough. Develops beutiful in warmer weather.

Like LovesProvence below, I too had two distinct impressions: Rooty Iris for all of a second, and a strong Prada Candy vibe. I found this disconcerting the first time I wore it, then again, the second time, more prepared, it was still disconcerting, but interesting. Now I like it. Many of the reviews out in blogville note that this is a "beginner's Iris" and I concur. The citrus is almost nonexistent which is good because that's really a bit too much all at once. I am not an Iris lover. The rooty dirt and carrots quality is not a favorite of mine with Iris, specifically, though I like the spring-like atmosphere and fresh quality that Iris inspires. I'm also not a fan of sweets in my perfume. This has both accords in it. But somehow, it works. It is not sexy, but it does have a caramel warmth to it from the black currant accord (also, one of my positively most loathed notes) that is braced by the cooler Iris and Violet leaf (lending it a curious lipstick powder and dirt quality). All of this may not sound exactly enticing, but every time I wave my arm or move I get these little breezes of violet, iris, and currant and it's lovely (a bit more feminine than strictly unisex). I'm on the fence about a FB after going broke on some of the other Ateliers, but this one which I was assiduously avoiding is moving to the top. Because of the very note I cannot stand (berries!) I actually like this Iris more. Try before you buy! *Also, you may get a better deal if you call the Atelier boutique in Br**klyn--if you like several of their scents, that's the way to go, rather than online or in Seph***.

A delightful surprise. I've had bruising clashes with iris frags before: (even some very expensive and high-class ones like Goodsir Iris Cendre all too often smell like a wet rug when applied to my skin, and cheaper ones like Miller Harris Terre d'Iris either smell like mud or like nothing at all) and I've often slated Atelier as a house, for making beautiful but frustratingly shortlived and overpriced scents. This one made me eat those words. It's just beautiful, and for me (usually a hater of both fruit and florals) to say that, it means this is really something special. There's just enough of the smell of earth & roots to make it 'real iris' not fake flowers, but without being muddy, and there's also just enough fruit to sweeten and boost it past the garden gate. Serene and classy and very feminine, to my nose, though it's good and classic enough to be a unisex for the true iris fans. Surprisingly big sillage - especially for Atelier - and yes, there are moments when the fruitiness (or the grape + mimosa if you must) is just on the verge of being too sweet and too much. But somehow it swerves all the real problems and carries on being its beautiful classy self. Overall longevity is still not incredible, but light years ahead of others I've tried from the house. It's so good to have negative preconceptions shattered! Do give this one a go if you're hunting for a light-yet-not-weak, organic-seeming iris.

I really wasn’t sure about this when I first received a generous decant with a recent purchase. It was so opposite from the scent I purchased, which was a heavy floriental. I’m very surprised that I really like it. The sweet and crisp black currant is a perfect foil to the earthy Iris. The black currant musky powdery drydown is a delight. Whoever came up with this combination is a genius. When I first put it on it seemed a little sweet and I thought it was going to go into tutti-fruitti territory, but the citrus gave it a little tartness and the Iris stopped it from glucose overload. The overall feel of lightness and airiness reminds me very much of B.Balenciaga Intense, though the notes are not the same. Still, it gives me that same fresh clean feeling I get when wearing B. I think this is a great fragrance to grab and go. Perfect for work and in close quarters. Silage isn’t heavy though it is noticeable, but the scent is so soft and pretty that it’s sure not to offend anyone. Longevity isn’t bad either. I’m so happy the seller sent me something I normally wouldn’t consider purchasing. Since the decant is so big I’ll have the opportunity to explore this scent further and decide whether to purchase a fb or not. As it is, though I really like it I’m not sure if I would purchase it now. I think this might work better in warmer weather anyway so I might invest in a fb then.

I would say Silver Iris is a great "beginner" iris! You get the sweetness of the lipstick vibe, a bit powdery and feminine - but it's the darker, juicy addition of Black current & the airy pairing with violet leaf that makes this effortless to wear, very modern with a hint of uplifting freshness. For those of you who find some iris 'fumes too dry & dusty - Silver Iris may be for you! This is full of life & vitality. As a collector of iris scents, I welcome all 'types' of this beautiful note, and I think anyone can find this rendition peaceful & simple to wear on a day-to-day basis. (A recent reviewer mentioned that this reminds them of BonneBelle lip balm & I definitely can sense that note in the heart of this scent, but I love it!) After a few wears, I noticed the drydown more and more. Whether it's the musk used, or combination of base notes on my skin, the very end of the fragrance falls flat. Not metallic, not awful, nothing overly negative - just flat. It loses it's cozy "mmmm" aspect, and just kinda goes slightly weird after a few hours on me. That's the one thing preventing this from being full-bottle worthy! Try for yourself and see!

The opening of the perfume is truly lovely. The violet leaf and the beautiful iris floral lend a hint of lipstick and powder smell with a sweet fruity background that makes it smell youthfully modern and bright (as opposed to dusky and old fashioned). Of course the iris can't last forever and the sweet, syrupy, fruity black currant musk gets rather loud. Cotton candy sweet (though not the sweetest), synthetic, the kind of screechy vibration in mall perfumes aimed at teenagers as it seems to intensify on the skin. It also has a Woody, loamy undertone to it as well from the patchouli which makes it a little more tolerable and is pleasant. With iris still present it smells root-y in loam. Through it all, somehow the perfume manages to anyways smell fresh and bright. It's not a bad perfume by any means! It manages to follow everything that's trendy in fragrance these days. It reminds me of Chance by Chanel with its youthful vigor. Towards the dry down, l experimented layering with No. 19 Poudré to tame the "screech". It worked! Now there's a sweet and sour smell. I love sour candies. Now that's a gourmand taste I can sink my teeth into

I recently got this perfume. On me dominate black currant and tangerine. Iris is present only in the initial stage, maybe for the first hour then goes way in the background and fades completely. Apart from that this is a very sweet perfume, doesn't fall in the category of unisex perfumes, it's straight feminine but I as a guy can pull it off. For other more masculine guys, don't blind buy it, try before buying it. I get excellent longevity, with 3 sprays I get 12 hours, projection is in the first half of it's duration good, people will be able to smell it, in the second half you will be able to catch a whiff of it when you move and others will be able to smell it too. You can find this type of scent among the designer fragrances, it is not unique at all and you can save that way a lot of money since this is not cheap. I however am, due to the allergy towards certain UV filter being put in almost all designer fragrances, forced to explore the world of niche perfumes. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase even if I didn't get an iris perfume as I intended. My search for a perfect iris scent continues.

My nose knows $$$. After smelling all of my Atelier samples randomly, this was one of the ones I placed in the favourites category. Of course it's the one with the iris butter in it! I feel like this one is attempting to be a fruity version of Prada's Infusion d'Iris - just a pity that it fails with my chemistry, because on me, it's honestly reminiscent of just another designer fruity-floral. The perfume begins with a sweet, slightly sour and very fruity blackcurrant smell, and I think I'm picking up on those violet leaves as well. The dry-down is very anticlimactic, as it's a clean and powdery chemical funk on my skin. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an unlisted vanilla note lurking somewhere in here; it always seems to be the culprit and it's always so synthetic on my skin. So disappointed. I really wanted more of that beautiful iris, especially at this price point. A moderate sillage that fades pretty fast to a skin scent; longevity is for about 3-4 hours. Performance with this one would probably be better in warmer weather.

Wow I can say I was literally smacked in the face with jammy currant and powdery matte lipstick at first sniff. Those really are the predominant notes of the opening. Then it dips into a sugary plum lipstick. Like an old lipstick with a very sweet chapstick over it. The amber peaks through occasionally. The silver in the name comes from the violet leaf I would guess. It definitely brings that metallic feel. I cannot detect any tangerine. At some point the notes do seem to be fighting among themselves. I will say it’s interesting. Not something I would personally purchase but a fun ride. **EDIT- I am wearing this again today and I really want to reiterate that if you want that vintage cosmetic/ lipstick vibe, this scent very much delivers! I am so sad that AC is being rebranded as I love their offerings (even if not always the performance). Also this is giving me personally intense nostalgic feelings which is interesting because I have no memories associated w it. I am going to have to dive into that.

Silver Iris was love at first sniff for me, but for a peculiar reason: as a child I had this Polly Pocket "beauty case", and the opening of Silver Iris smells exactly like the make-up contained in it, or at least my memories of it. It's a waxy kind of lipstick scent, a little sweet and subtly fruity, but most of all quite woody in a mellow way (not sharp at all). I always like those make-up style fragrances, and I'm not sure if I'd love this one in particular if it didn't give me that pleasurable blast of nostalgia every time I spray it on, but it's a good one for sure (as can be expected from Atelier Cologne). The only thing I'd change about it is the patchouli note; it adds a slightly musty/murky aspect to the drydown that might have been toned down or left out altogether as far as I'm concerned. Still, I definitely want a decant of this one, and I won't be surprised if I end up with a bottle after that.

Such a sugar blast from "Silver Iris"! It was completely unexpected. The start was pure iris, in "Silver Iris" I was expecting something a bit more metallic and cold, but I was greeted with a very powdery and "old lipstick" like iris which was soon covered with sugary violet leaves. After the first hour or so it does get a more calm as the sweetness goes away, but it never gets "silver", it stays on the feminine/sweet side. I could not imagine a man wearing this. The drydown brings earthy/dirty patchouli which dominates the scent all trough it's staying power, which for me was remarkable for a cologne - 9 hours, but then again - I've never had problems with Atelier Cologne longevity. On the other hand, even as I find it extremely sweet, my SO upon sniffing my wrist said "Wow, this is nice, but very manly, I could definitely wear this." Go figure, but I feel nothing manly.

من از عطرهای زنبقی خیلی خوشم نمیاد اما این کار واقعا زیبا و درست اجرا شده در شروع حس اوزونیک به وضوح دریافت میشه و حس ای شبیه به تنفس حجم زیادی اکسیژن در هوای تمیز رو داشت ولی ماندگاری زیادی نداره و کم رنگ میشه رایحه شیرین و گَس میوه ای که در ترکیب با فضای گُلی_پودری مُشتق شده از زنبق؛کمی تداعی کننده ی فضای چرمیِ سبک و نرم بود شیرینی کاملا کنترل شده ای داره و مشک با تم بویایی پودری مشکی بسیار تاثیر گذار عمل می کنه اما شبیه به لوازم آرایشی و ... نمیشه در انتها هم آکورد ماسکی قوی تر میشه و کنار گل های زرد و رگه های کهربایی؛رایحه همه پسند و شیکی رو رقم می زنه خوش ساخت اما بسیار ضعیف ******************* scent:8.5/10 longevity:5/10 sillage:4/10 purchase value:4/10 ******* overall:5.4/10

I am ambivalent about this fragrance. At first, it really does smell like vintage lipstick but when you start to enquire further there are some lovely, distinct notes to explore. Patchouli does give the fragrance a Flower Bomb quality but rather than being sickly sweet, the black currant, amber, and musk offer a degree of sophistication and intrigue. My grandmother used to say that violets were used at funerals to mask the smell, which is why I avoided reviewing this fragrance for so long. But you know what? I really adore it. It's feminine and warm but at the same time, icy and cool.

I love iris in perfumes when it gives it that beautiful powdery fragrance. This fragrance is nice but very sweet. It is essentially sweet powder like violet flavoured sherbet. I could see it being very cloying in summer. As it is spring now in the southern hemisphere, I didn't find the projection to be huge but maybe arms length away and very little sillage. The one good thing would be longevity as I could still smell it the next morning when I smelled my wrist. This leans on the softer side like white musk, so it's not loud and in your face but perhaps more soft and comforting.

I got this as a sample, and I have to say, this has grown on me. When I first tried it this morning, I felt like, "ho-hum, yet another iris fragrance. This seems like weak sauce." The iris scent in the opening, I found really obnoxious, but that wore off rather fast. As the fragrance developed, the amber/musk became stronger. This is actually my favorite style of fragrance - - what I call an "airplane fragrance." It's subtle enough to wear on an airplane without choking out your seat mate. And yet, it's stronger than just a skin scent. It lasts about 6-8 hours. Really like this!

First blast of sweet green powder, very light and fresh green, vegetal, iris and tea, delicate. Fresh green springtime in a bottle, enchanting and lovely. Probably the only iris I've tried to date that wasn't heavy-handed on the powdery makeup scent. Very little strength or projection but that rather suits a chiffon cobweb-esque scent like this. After a couple minutes, a sweet sharpness starts to step forward acting as a counterpoint to that delicate cloud. Ultra feminine and best for springtime, but really would work in any weather.

Very pleasant, powdery, feminine and not in your face. I have it on my like list. I would have put on "the love list" if it had more of a kick to it (if you know what I mean). It sits very close to the skin and I had to work hard to notice it. I definitely get the soft iris, blackcurrant and amber working together nicely. The dry down and base notes are lovely. I may consider buying it in the future, but I have too many others on my list that I actually love. Husband found it very very nice, but weak.

The reason why this beauty is so darn expensive is because it takes 7 years to get the iris extract... So it is quite some time invested, I'd say! For those whom it reminds of granny's old lipstick - apparently, as I've been told, iris scent used to be put in makeup... Anyhow, this is marvellous, and sassy, and elegantly strict, half the sweetness you'd expect from the pyramid notes... If you like to put Modern Classic on - this is a way to go. Silage is average of 6 hours. 7/ 10
