Tobacco Nuit

This may sound like comparisons bridging completely different worlds, but if you've ever wished for a sweet, humid & deep tobacco fragrance along the lines of the vintage formulation of Davidoff's Zino, articulated with superior ingredients (and who hasn't?) this may work for you... The opening is misleading: after a heartbeat-brief waft of clementine, a dense, malty syrup appears that I found both very contemporary and somewhat cloying, reminding me of the ubiquitous tonka-bombs that line either side of the aisles at Sephora. Thankfully this stage, too, was relatively brief, passing in about five minutes. What follows is quite wonderful, and, as others have commented, very different from most Atelier offerings: a rich layering of dusty, earthy spices over a gorgeous amber. I don't detect an excessive use of cumin or coriander at all; it reminds me a little of the inference of bay leaf and coriander in Serge Lutens' Ambre Sultan (high praise!), adding complexity and distinctiveness to offset the indulgent qualities associated with the 'oriental' connotations of resins. The impression is certainly of sweetened pipe tobacco gradually shifting over to dry cigars in a humidor with a hint of rum-like vanilla. There is a dark, gingerbread-like warmth up close, but the sillage is the arena where this fragrance really elevates itself as the sensation of alternating texture and movement: soft, rustling, wafting, both roundly mellow and slightly bitter, hardwood-smoky with ever-so faintly tangy-sour relish of smokiness in the mouth, actually unconsciously triggering for me of the feeling under the tongue in the evening hours after I've smoked a pipe full of black & tan. You have to love the ruggedness of unapologetic tobacco fragrances like Zino to really appreciate this for daywear. I feel I should point out that I am not an Atelier fanboy per say...I have often enjoyed their compositions at the start only to find them wan or unremarkable as they evolve. Here, the base does not disappoint; there is a nice use of patchouli and labdanum here to support a high-quality frankincense note; the whole is dusky, earthy and thick, both satisfying and long-lasting (the drydown is, as landshark notes, 'moderate', but *not just* a skin scent). Note separation through the heart and base phases is excellent. Given how well-constructed Tobacco Nuit is, I expect that would readily stand up to a light, sheer wearing for daytime. This is certainly an 'aura' scent: the trail that surrounds you is densely multidimensional, and the composition overall is best appreciated without digging your nose into your wrist (you won't have to!) Not for everybody (some confidence and worldliness are required), and better for a night out than shuffling papers at the office, but, for the right character anyway, very rewarding.

Atelier Cologne's Tobacco Nuit is the first scent of the Collection Orient, released earlier this year, that I've tried on skin, and it was probably the single scent I was most eager to sample after basically smelling the whole line (Originale to Orient) out of the bottles at Neiman Marcus. It fits, broadly speaking, into the "sweet tobacco" category, but Tobacco Nuit certainly has more going on than that. It has sweet and spicy elements. The spiciness comes from the coriander and cumin, each used in moderation to produce only a moderate pepper level of spice, nothing over the top. Certainly this is more sweet than spicy. I found the sweetness to be very plum-like, as in the boozy sweetness of Single Malt By Kilian, a deeper sweetness that's resinous, almost. I was surprised to learn that tonka is the most likely culprit for this but it makes sense, in that it's not the tip-of-the-tongue uber sweetness that we generally get out of the standard source, vanilla. The resounding depth comes from the smoky olibanum (frankincense) and and earthy patchouli, so the base, softened by the usual use of cedar, does not disappoint, either. Overall, the experience is a sweet, smoky, spicy tobacco that has some of the redeeming qualities of both By Kilian Back to Black and Single Malt and being comparable to either, and perhaps even Tobacco Vanille, though I'd certainly still prefer Tobacco Vanille to Tobacco Nuit. Still, it's more moderately priced than any of those, at $250 for 100ml and $325 for 200ml, though with the latter comes a 30ml travel size spray that doesn't seem to be available on its own for now, though I'm sure it would be expensive, anyway. I have a difficult time imagining that 230ml of this would be needed, as one might justify for the lighter fragrances of the house. Performance is excellent: strong projection for the first couple of hours before drying down into a moderate (not skin) scent for a while. 8 out of 10

I found this fragrance when I was looking for an alternative to Tom Ford Tobacco Oud. I'd bought a bottle of TO from Ebay for a decent price, but ended up receiving a fake bottle. So, after that malarkey, I read about this bottle as an alternative scent that has similarities, so, I decided to take a chance, and am I happy I did! The spicy opening of this reminds me of TO (from the one time I smelt it in store) and it has the same sweetness in the mid, however, that's where I feel the similarities end, at least from memory anyway. Regardless of the similarities, Tobacco Nuit is a beautiful creation in its own merit. As I stated, starts with a rich spicy opening that doesn't seem challenging to me but may be so for some people, so buyer beware. A sweetness then begins to seep through the layers of the fragrance and makes the scent have a resinous facet that I absolutely love. I get a lovely tobacco under everything else going on in the scent but to me, this is all about the cumin and resins. For me, this is a very versatile scent. All you have to do is adjust how many sprays you use depending on the weather. That said, in England you really get any extremes, so that may be the case for me but may differ if you're somewhere where you have extreme temperatures. Really enjoyable scent, love that I have 200ml of the juice, so I will be wearing this liberally! (Still on the hunt for my bottle of Tobacco Oud at a reasonable price. Retail is a bit too much for the scent in my mind. One day... hopefully, or maybe not with all the discontinuation talks.) 9/10

Tocco Nuit is quite simply stunning. It's evocative, profound, and vivid. It's dark and nefarious, yet poignent and somehow romantic. On me it starts off fresh, green and citrusy, with cumin adding a sharp, pungent hit. It's not the BO kind of cumin (thankfully), but rather a piquant kind of cumin. As it slowly dries down, tobacco takes over. It dominates the fragrance from this point on, with a sweet, leathery, almost animalic labdanum strongly supporting it, while frankincense quietly adds more sweetness, along with a warm, woodsy, balsamic creaminess. This is not your grandpa's tobacco; it's an exclusive gentleman's club tobacco; a complex, floral-musky-woody tobacco. Eventually, the labdanum and frankincense give way to a warm, clean cedar wood; a musky, earthy patchouli; and a tonka bean that adds a slightly spicy vanilla-caramel-dark honey flavour. But, that floral-musky-woody tobacco still dominates. Everything else just adds a touch more "flavour" to that tobacco. On my skin Tobacco Noir is an intoxicating, sensual tobacco fragrance that has moderately heavy sillage and is extremely long lasting. The opening is BIG and it takes a couple of hours of very gradual softening to reach the heart of this perfume. It settles in comfortably for the next several hours before slowly starting to transition to its final phase, where it very, very slowly and quietly starts to fade away. Brilliant!

Tobacco!!!wow.. It's a really awesome tobacco scent.. An smoky/balsamic cocktail paired to Tobacco blossom and Olibanum on the base. i love this fragrances.It's not a wow factor at the start,but to me, the dry down is an excellent scent.This is a great scent in general but especially if your 1st getting into fragrances.It smells smooth Tobacco(smoky)in the drydown. This product is appropriate for all weather. It has a perfect amount of silage in my opinion.I can smell a hint of the scent when I move around.I was more impressed with it's performance.great job! تنباکویی ملایم اگر سبک ملایم میپسندن معمولا عطرهای تنباکویی در رده بوهای شیرین وتند قرار میگیرند درحالی که اسم این عطر تنباکوی تلخ است همواره زیره سبز گشنیزو فلفل در این عطر احساس میشه سبک عطر دودی اسپایسی(فلفل بسیار ملایم) به همراه پایه پتچولی است که مفهوم تباکویی در واقع همین حالت دودی و تند و کمی شیرین رو تداعی میکنه همیشه مرجع تنباکویی ها بک تو بلک کیلیان و توباکووانیل تام فورد است ولی این مورد را میشه به عنوان یه کار تباکویی ملایم(تاکیید روی ملایم) ونه چندان تلخ بلکه شیرین ولی نه در حد بک تو بلک کیلیان و توباکو وانیل تام فورد دانست بهترین فصل استفاده زمستان وپاییز ماندگاری بسیار عالی و پخش بوی قابل قبول تجربه تستش را از دست ندید برای من که بسیار جذاب بود

This is my first scent from Atelier. I received a sample as part of another fragrance I purchased (Thanks Bob!!), and I am VERY glad I tried the sample. After the first wearing, I immediately bought a bottle of this. WOW! Just.. WOW!!! The initial spray brought a smile to my face! TN is a very dry smoky tobacco, with a touch of sweetness. I do get the reference to the cigarette smoke others have mentioned, but it is off in the distance on my skin. TN Reminds me of something else that I have, but cannot put my finger on it. One of my Parfum de Marly fragrances, maybe. It has that house's feel IMO. The dry down is a heavenly tobacco with a semi-sweet vibe. Enough to add some depth, but not to overpower the fragrance. I get great longevity and good projection on my skin. A lady I am dating smelled TN on me and kept complimenting me on how good I smelled. She has requested that I wear this one when we are together. TN is a scent that works well either casual or in a sports coat. I recently moved TN into my top 5. Yes, it IS that good! Bottom line: If you like tobacco scents, you have to try this one.

I've tried this a couple times, and I like it very much--it may be FB worthy. The silage and longevity are low and of average duration; it does have the sheer light quality of a cologne, but the rich tobacco-cumin-coriander-patch of some Serge Lutens, and other oud or resin-type fragrances. This is a solid scent when I feel like wearing something woodsy and oriental, a bit spicy but don't want to fumigate others; it does work for most seasons, perhaps not the hottest of days. It reminds me a bit of Chergui. Oddly, I smell it more in the morning; when I re-spritz during the day it ghosts a bit, so I must grow anosmic to some of the notes as I wear it. That's a pity, since some of my favorite Tauers and SLs are just pure pleasure coming up from my decolletage later in the day. But I still might spring for a 30 or 100 ml of this. This is a mildly sweet tobacco and spicy woods scent, entirely unisex--if worn by a woman, I think it would be utterly feminine, and a man would claim the "masculine" territory with some of that coriander/cumin. This is one of my top 5 from Atelier so far.

This is a pretty linear but beautiful fragrance, focused on the idea of "Tobacco Blossom" (just an impression, as there is no such absolu or extract). Rare enough to compliment Jerôme Epinette for making such a fragrance. A shy clementine note appears in the early opening, and quickly leaves the stage in favor of a strong cumin/coriander duo. This duo will be slightly rounded by supporting notes (resins, wood, tonka) later in the drydown, but will always keep the lead until the end. One of my favourite frags of my collection, and probably my favourite from AC whole offering. Highly recommended, but still, do not pay retail (got a sealed gift set 200+30ml on ebay for $100) Leans masculine, but cumin-lover women can perfectly pull off this on one without overspraying. Best fir colder days and moderatly cold evenings, 30+. Note: I wouldn't be surprised if Epinette got inspired by Geza Schoen's Boudicca Wode to blend this one, as they are very similar (BW being slightly fresher and more complex ).

OH MY GOODNESS! What a pleasant natural Tobacco scent! Weird that they decided to call it a Cologne Absolut (their invention) when it is simply a high quality 20% EDP. Sweet damp tobacco, a touch of cinnamon (not vanilla), mixed with some unsmoked cigarette for the first 30 min, dries down to give a slight leathery feel (the patchouli base). All the ingredients intertwine evolving the smell for a while before it simplifies to a light tobacco and tonka. Only Miller Harris compares for a more natural feel though it is stronger and longer lasting where this is strong for 5 or so hours on me then fades to a good skinscent that lasts 8 - 10 hours. . Top shelf - will sit next to my PDM Herod, MH Feuilles de Tabac, Chergui and Comptoir Sud Pacifique Rhum et Tabac. I think for now its the best technical Tobacco I've tried and will be used a lot!. Happy Smelling Edit: Hmm, I'm getting 8-10 hours as a welcome skin scent - not bad at all!

Opens strong and pungent with an aromatic sweet/wet tobacco. Almost everyone who likes tobacco will like this; it's the whiff of a fresh pouch of fruity tobacco that will become some lovely pipe smoke. But then the scent opens fully. And there is a lot more wood and resin. I feel like this is a "gentleman's" library (gentleman in the sense of old, family money; not any particular sense of behavior). This room has been smoked in, often. Drinks have been drunk and perhaps sloshed a bit onto the ancestral Persian rugs. Games have been played and obscene amounts of money have changed hands over trivial whims. And sometimes he's even had relations on the couch, or utter scandal! the desk! with a woman who may not have been his lawfully wedded spouse! oh my. Oh my indeed. This is a delight to wear and quite simply, smells really, really good; if you like that sort of thing.

Smoky, sensual, slightly sweet tobacco. Contrary to some opinions here, the cumin isn't overpowering at all--it keeps this interesting and more masculine. This is more like Tom Ford Tobacco Oud's drydown than Tobacco Vanille I think--TV has such an overpowering vanilla note that it's not really comparable. Tobacco Oud is heavier and more animalic than this, but you might think of Tobacco Nuit as a sort of lighter, fresher Tobacco Oud. I've also sampled Amouage Journey Man and there are similarities to that, but it has a Sichuan pepper note that, while interesting, is not my favorite. Longevity and projection are both good. I get 10+ hours and it projects well for 4-5 hours.

this is a really awesome tobacco scent. the cumin is so well blended into the scent during the opening that its hard to tell its there--but it definitely smells of cumin, even after 2 hours. all in all its a spicy and dry smokey tobacco with a slight sweetness underneath it all. its a pretty heavy and dark scent, but its really quite well done; just not too versatile considering its so smokey (night only for me). considering all my other forays into atelier cologne have more or less been a disaster, tobacco nuit is the best thing i've smelt from them so far.

Either a copy of BelAmi (Hermes) for those with too much money — and no taste for something more refined than an overpriced Atelier, or of Fetish (Roja Dove) for those too poor. The balance between labdanum and cedarwood is well calibrated and sits perfectly atop the vanillic, ashy, phenolic notes which turn it from woody to oriental. Perhaps “tobacco” is the codeword for ISO E Super as the fragrance has nothing to do with the true absolute, tabanon, nor the flower. It smells natural and is well blended. Please consider if in the mood to overpay.

Awesome fragrance from start to finish. I am a huge fan of tobacco based fragrances and this is a winner. Nice longevity and sillage IMO. Starts with a spicy tobacco mix and dries into a slightly woody tobacco mix with hints of spice with a little sweetness. Leans masculine IMO. Try before you buy due to the price. I fell this is full bottle worthy and a top 10 in my fragrance collection. Enjoy!

Tobacco Nuit serves as a truly dark and mysterious fragrance with some heavy tobacco and cumin. Very warm and comforting. Longevity is great with hefty projection. This is indeed similar to Tobacco Oud and Tobacco Mandarin - same ballpark for a better price even. A shame that they are being discontinued outside of France. Rating: 8.5/10 - Greatness!

First of all everybody say that It's Cumin and Tobacco. but let me tell you that real beauty is Landanum and Olibanum in this fragrance. It gives scent depth and sensuality. Very solid blend with mysterious drydown and gorgeous scent bubble Projection is big Longevity is more than 12 hours. Only cold winter days and nights. Solid 9/10

One of my favourites stinkers. Caramelised sweaty (thanks to cumin) blonde tobacco, part ashed, whiffs of narcissus, white yellow florals with a tad of tonka on the basenote. This is my description ignoring the note table. Amazing if you like a smoked cigarette smell in a presentable perfume- not for professional presentation though!

Similar to Tom Ford Tobacco Oud minus the whiskey note. The spices are very well blended and the sweet tobacco is very obvious and dominant. Beautiful especially for winter and it has good performance. Superb Niche quality and I am glad that I got the 200 ml at 60 $ at discounter clearance so I can save my tobacco oud.

Ive had decant of this for a while now and I must say that it's a absolutely gorgeous scent. Of all the tobacco type scent I own, this is the one I'm loving the best atm. It's for me a perfect scent, it smells like tobacco vanille had a baby with Amber absolute. Highly recommend to sample. A massive LOVE for me <3

One of the best tobacco scents I had! It's dark, intense, slightly spicy, very sophisticated. A beautiful and authentic tobacco blossom. The cumin note is absolutely gorgeous! Some people even compared it to oud, and I agree, it gives me major oud vibes, like the oud by Diptyque (Oud Palao).

I really wanted to buy Herod as a tobacco scent until I caught wind of this. After smelling them both, Atelier wins hands. Down. 4.5/5

This has become my signature fragrance for Winter, Atelier Cologne Musc Imperial for Spring and Summer. The tobacco note is a floral, aromatic tobacco blosson ! It's what really makes this a standout fragrance. My #2 Atelier Cologne, after Musc Imperial. Maybe tied for #1 now. Just discovered the clean chocolaty Patchouli, from the mid-drydown, mostly pick it up in the drydown. This is a very attractive and wearable Labdanum fragrance, with a nice Tobacco blosom note, a soft and fresh spiciness, with a touch of Clementine zest. This is not too dark, an attractive, easy going oriental. Something a bit peppery, maybe the cummin coriander accord, smooth amber, a touch of incence, on a slightly sweet, nutty and chocolaty Patchouli and Tonka. And a great tobacco blosom, which has a Summer hay tone; Like tobacco but also floral. I think this is more wearable than TF Tobacco Vanilla. The sillage is softly moderate, but longevity is good. I like how the tobacco blosson adds softness and a floral aspect to the warm woody resins. I applied my sample more generously for full effect. This is going to replace my Fortis and Noir Exquis. The Tobacco really shines. I not only get the tobacco blosson, but also the leaf, very smooth and aromatic, the finest tobacco note I've experienced. When I inhaled deeply just now, I picked up the fresh Clementine. If you want a great Amber fragrance, that's fresh and fruity enough for Spring and cooler Summer days, nights, this will work nicely. Tobacco Nuit is not bold, deep, or sexy IMO, but it smells very good. It's 'nice,' in the way that all Atelier Cologne fragrances are 'nice': very well blended, pleasant, polite, not terribly complex, a bit sweet and woody on the drydown. It stands apart from many of the house's other offerings for its better wear time (4-6 hours) and stronger (though still not strong) projection. On my skin, this scent reaches peak throw 20-30 minutes after application, which seems to indicate naturally derived aromatic ingredients reacting to body heat and air. The tobacco note used is naturalistic, soft, round, and to my nose the only distinctive note that emerges from the blend before the sandalwood drydown takes over. I detect no smoke or bitterness, unlike Molinard Cuir, which presents as much ash as leaf. As tobacco is less usually a primary component of perfumes marketed to women, ladies and their partners may find TN sexier than ubiquitous florals. Traditional signifier notes for male 'sexy smell' - musk, leather, brine - are not present here, so safe for work or worship settings. It smells great and performs decently - no complaints in those quarters, especially given this brand's notorious reputation for weak sauce performance. Whether it's worth the hefty niche price tag is down to individual values and use cases. I would certainly enjoy having a bottle of this around if it were gifted, but there are many others I would sooner buy.

Woody tobacco, with a hint of vanilla, and a bit of amber and tonka. Without dissecting the listed notes, I can echo what many have said already - this is very similar to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, but with less vanilla. From the top notes, it also sort of hints at oud, in spite of it not being listed in the notes. It's almost similar to a lighter, more tobacco dominant Lattafa Raghba at the top. Once it starts to dry down, the sweet oudy smell fades, and gives way to a beautiful, more woodsy, powdery tobacco. Classy and sultry, yet easy to wear. I don't understand the votes on the note of cumin, as I really don't get any cumin from this at all! Not like cumin notes I've experienced in other scents, at least. (Which I haven't liked) This is the Tobacco Vanille alternative for those who prefer woodier scents with less vanilla or scents that are easier to wear. I can speak from experience wearing this today, that this does indeed wear surprisingly well, even in the heat! Still, I look forward to wearing this one more in the fall months. Update: This wears extremely well on top of the leftovers of resin heavy scents like Dior Fahrenheit Le Parfum, Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, and Ferrari Essence Oud.

To begin, I personally found the spicy notes a little overpowering upon the first spray — thinking there were yellow florals in the perfume (thankfully not). The tobacco blossom is definitely the star from beginning to end, balanced with resinous amber and wood notes. Very oriental and distinguished without being “obnoxious” or “overwhelming” ; here the cumin and coriander are just enough for a sophisticated dimension. Unisex ; this type of spicy/woody perfume leans overall masculine — but that would depend on the wearer ; I picture confident women totally owning it. Interestingly, I don’t feel this is the type of perfume I would reach for, I was kind of unimpressed at first. However now I keep sniffing for more and more! Overall reminded me when I was in my phase wearing TF Tobacco Vanille — here, without the vanilla of course, but has a light sweetness/sourness, definitely the tonka and clementine makes it a great combo. Cologne at great value for the quality, no need to spray much at all, strong tail and better if smelled close to skin. ___ Projection, sillage, longevity : 8/10 Originality, presentation : 6,5/10 Quality, value : 9/10 8/10

I really cant stand Cumin and Coriander notes in fragrances as I consider them the "Body Odour after eating a hot curry and sweating" notes, so to be frank, I approached Tobacco Nuit with a bit of trepidation after seeing the toxic twins in the note list. Here, to my immense relief, the tobacco blossom, olibanum and labdanum makes it balsamic and the Tonka bean adds welcome sweetness, reining back the BO notes into pleasant woody spiciness, atleast on my skin. Longevity is around the 5-6 hour mark and projection is pretty strong the first couple of hours. No problems there. Atelier Cologne are in their comfort zone with Citrus frags. Nobody does them better. Their other frags, atleast the ones I have tried so far have been hit or miss. Hits would be Rose Anonyme, Vetiver fatale, etc and misses would be Philtre Ceylan. Tobacco Nuit is somewhere in the middle. You know, its the kind of frag that I would use up my 10 ml decant and enjoy it while I do but dont see myself investing in a full Bottle. Although I would happily wear it if someone were to gift me a bottle. The quintessential 7/10 rated fragrance.

A sweet and leathery amber with smoky facets and a handful of exotic spice that manages to remain clean. The leatheriness of tobacco blossom blends well with the deep amber of the labdanum. The incense accord brings whiffs smoke while hints of coriander and boatloads of culinary cumin swirl about making a clean amber kinda dirty. As it fades the tonka makes this buttery. To me, I like it but it is just a touch too sweet for what I would want with this. to my nose, I recognize this as an attempt to make a more crowd-pleasing and less aggressive Amouage Fate Man. They succeed, and it is quite nice, but not for me.

One of the most authentic tobacco blossoms in my opinion, this scent is as close as it gets to the ultimate (unsweetened) tobacco. Tobacco Nuit is thick, full-bodied, slightly sweet, but it doesn't smell like vanilla or cherry. Cumin gives it coziness while at the same time making it completely wearable. Tobacco Nuit is versatile, doesn't choke, and doesn't bother others. It is unisex and leans more masculine, the projection is mild with a good longevity. It stays for roughly 6-7 hours on my skin.

There is no tobacco here (or plastic). It is a fragrance on the flower of tobacco, that gets that effect "atabacado" thanks to the mixture with spices and it is true that perhaps an excess of cumin. The result is a good fragrance of "Atelier Cologne", with an above average performance and I have liked it more every time I have used it. One of the best releases of "Atelier Cologne" of the last time, that everything has to be said, are not too spectacular.

I have a review from last year. But I wanted to add, now that it's Summertime, this is an amber fragrance that stays quite fresh, and can be enjoyed in even Summer heat, or at least Summer mornings. You can pick up on the fruity clementine citrus more, and the beautiful tobacco blossom really pops!

It is a spicy Labdanum, with tobacco blossom. So its not like Tom Ford TV which is much darker and woodier, more tobacco. This is fresh, aa it has some orangy Clementine. Its a unique fresh tobacco frag, where the tobacco note is floral tobacco blossom, but it does smell like tobacco.

Tobacco Nuit Atelier Cologne (200 ml. partially use, USD 150) (Kind of) Classic dry amber - woody fragrance with Tobacco Blossom. I find Tobacco Nuit by Atelier Cologne is very ambery fragrance. Yeap, there is trail of woody material underneath but the main ambient is Amber. Leans Incensy / Smoky Wood than traditional Cinnamon, Dry Fruit and Cognac interpretation. Tobacco Nuit have sweetness (coumarin) undertone that slight powdery and it merge with woody material (cedar wood). Clean (apart from dirty note), projective in certain range and stable. I think this is one of substantial offering from Atelier Cologne. (Amber in nature is thick and strong in character, it has tendency to be prominent). I have never sniffed Tobacco Oud but I find this similar to Bouquet Ideal (Xerjoff) Structure wise, Another Amber Woody fragrance and share a lot of notes presented. (Coumarin, Labdanum, Cedar, Tobacco Blossom), Tobacco Nuit is less sweet than Bouquet Ideal. Slight earthier, dirtier and doesn't have strong Raspberry Syrup vibe. The Tobacco Oud references are justified as this is basically a synthetic, and much sweeter, buttery version of Tobacco Oud. However, it is only reminiscent of the dry down that shows up three hours later, and nothing else. The tobacco floral aspect is lovely, it's my favorite part of the entire scent. But there is something about the overall composition I don't really like. It just feels a bit too syrupy and sweet, a bit unbalanced and synthethic for my taste.

The scent is not for me, but I could imagine it on a sexy man :)

I will begin by saying that I love Atelier Cologne's fragrances, I own many of their offerings, and two of my top 5 scents are from this house (Oud Saphir and Cedrat enivrant). Now that it's out of the way, I found Tobacco Nuit to be an underwhelming discovery. On me, the scent is straight up pencil shavings. I can detect the tobacco in the opening but it quickly disappears to be replaced by a smell reminiscent of elementary school. This is not disagreeable, but I wouldn't want to smell like this on purpose. A reviewer here compared Tobacco Nuit to Mancera Oud Vanille (which I love), but I disagree. I did not detect an ounce of sweetness in this fragrance. Probably a matter of body chemistry.

It has a nice tobacco opening and a bad dirty smell when it dries out. I agree 100% with no-fi when he stated that "It's a disappointing and mildly repugnant end to a promising opening." Edit: After wearing this few more times I agree it should be called La Nuit du Cumin :) - Soil is right Scent: 5/10 (this would have been a nice scent but for the dry down) Longevity: 9/10 Sillage: 6/10 Cost ratio: 4/10 Overall: 6/10 Stinky. ------------ edit : l'Oreal bought Atelier Cologne, this brand is no longer niche - they better drop the price now too...

On my skin I get a very ordinary Tobacco leaf fragrance, that makes me cough and reminds of cigars. The dry down is just so full of cumin and I certainly do not like it. I don't like it at all, frankly speaking. The scent is however, perfect on my boyfriend. A sweet Tobacco Blossom, with a very masculine vanilla undertone. It is just so intoxicating, intriguing and comforting. Well-blended. That would be a very good Autumn/Winder scent. Definitely a favorite masculine from Atelier. Longevity is 5-6 hours.

From this I take a sweet opening of clementine and labdanum, then tobacco flowers with dirty olibanum, Tom Ford ashtray, sweet tonka on an amber base that reminded me of Gaultier2. Diabetic most of the time. Buttery finish improves. meh

Nice; In my opinion, Atelier's Tobacco Nuit is in the same vein of Mancera's Aoud Vanille, Amouage's Journey Man, also Molton Brown Navigation Scents' Shisur! So if you have any of these you get where this fragrance is going!! [Tobacco Nuit takes a JOURNEY through sweet spicy patches and smoky forests, while stumbling upon a VANILLA bean orchard in order to get to the most irresistible, well groomed, effervescent man who happens to be sitting by the Shi-sur!!] I realized this brand and others are not attempting to clone others (necessarily)...some fragrances just smell like others. Tobacco Nuit is the less expensive version of Journey Man. I did a side by side test of both and the only difference I notice is Journey Man has a touch more spice and Tobacco Nuit's is toned down slightly. I don't necessarily feel there is a need to have both. Tobacco-Nuit is a nice fragrance with great longevity and silage! There is a caraway-like essence that is similar to cumin in this that I also detect in Bois 1920 Sandalo that's noticeable. P.S. Now, just because I have Aoud Vanille, Amouage Journey Man, and Molton Brown's Navigation Scent Shisur does not mean I shouldn't have Tobacco Nuit also. Even if my wife said I don't need it? (...smiles); P.S. shhhhhhhhhhh, I arrive home before she did to get the mail. I wanted to intercept the package before she got home. (I just bought it!) LoL................ P.S.S. Fast-forward 7 years later and I have paired down my collection. I no longer have Journey Man as I didn't think I needed both Tobacco-Nuit and Journey Man. Don't get me wrong, I think they both are phenomenal fragrances, however I believe the cumin note lingers in Journey Man more so than in Tobacco-Nuit.

I adore this scent. It is softer compared to other tobacco scents I have tried (particularly ones favoured in the Middle East) and has a great deal of depth. It opens with a pretty clementine smell which gives way to tobacco and frankincense with underlying notes of cedar. I have read other reviews suggesting scents of cumin and I definitely agree with that assessment. I noticed that this fragrance seems to lead with it's heavier ingredients and over time settles into something quite warm and delightful, which is the cumin and coriander coming through. I like how Atelier manages to blend the coriander into the perfume in a way which is delicate and warm and harmonious with the other ingredients. I have noticed that the fashion is to use coriander in a heavy-handed way (think Aesop), which is perhaps reflective of its Hellenic medicinal roots - so I was surprised when I realised that the familiar scent I was enjoying was actually coriander. This fragrance is made from exceptional ingredients and I don't get that synthetic-y headache feeling I do from other modern fragrances. Clementine aside, I think this is a fragrance better suited to more masculine types. As the hours wear on, the scent is noticeable only in close proximity to the skin so I would say that this would be a nice fragrance for events where there is likely to be close interpersonal interactions. If you're someone who likes to wear tobacco scents during the week with a high degree of silage you may want to adopt this as your after/hours weekend scent.

I’ll disagree with with some of the below opinions and say that Tobacco Nuit makes me immediately recall Tobacco Vanille. Sweet tobacco is immediate off the top. However, Tobacco Nuit gets a lot spicier very quickly and also has a resinous aspect. It’s a very nice counter to the extreme sweetness I tend to familiarize tobacco with thanks to Mr. Ford’s efforts. Doesn’t feel quite like night though, more like late afternoon or dusk. I get a modest four hours out of this fragrance, which seems like the right amount as Tobacco Nuit is very present throughout the wear and may wear out it’s welcome thanks to the heavy cumin and spices. Still, if you like the idea of Tobacco Vanille or find it too cloying, this is a reasonable alternative. Be warned though that as the heart notes come out, the tobacco dissipates to some degree and cumin takes the wheel in a serious way. The tobacco is still there adding a sweet, aromatic sensation but the cumin is very pronounced. I can’t help but recognize a slight gourmand element too, although not in the usual way. Tobacco Nuit smells a lot like curry to me once it enters the mid. It’s tasty, but not something I’d see myself wanting to smell like. Instead, I’m left more with a sensation of looking forward to dinner which makes a lot of sense going through this warm, amber-y, golden sunset of a fragrance.

I intend to provide my own personal interpretation as I do not consider myself to easily understand or recognise the composition of a perfume. I am not an expert. He bought me this perfume as he knows I love a heavy sexy scent. I am so fussy and regularly 'go off' perfumes given as a gift or even those I have purchased myself but not this one. It is an evening scent and lasts for at least four hours. I have received positive comments about it when wearing it during the evening and my adult kids don't like it (who cares what they think) - it can be overpowering but I love it. It smells spicy with an incense smell. It is sophisticated and I also received a handbag bottle with a leather cover with my name on it - I love Atelier for this as the handbag bottle is very important to me and I love a bit of personalisation! I have a few of these handbag bottles and it's one of the reasons why I return to Atelier. I have also recently purchased the discovery set and am enjoying working my way through each scent.

This starts amazingly with a sharp tobacco woods, and a tiny bit of cumin giving a pleasant imagination of a sexy tobacco youthful gentleman although he is quite a cheeky one. But man when it calms down it goes huge skunk! oh my GOD quite different from what i first sniffed, something similar to "Montecristo" by Masque but much less skunk than "Monte" for sure! it is quite nasty tho. But..... I can't deny that part of me like it even when it went skunky! maybe because i am trying to justify the result it got into although i have absolutely no idea why am i doing this justification but there is some part of me do like it, and maybe it does show the devilish part of that youthful cheeky guy that has something related to me. honestly i can't say i dislike it, but i will give it more time!

Ughh, the cumin ruins it. Seriously this would have been one of the best Atelier Cologne fragrances if the cumin wasn't so overpowering and annoying. If you can get past the cumin or if you somehow like it, then you'll probably love this one. An amazing tobacco x resin combo. The tonka bean and cedar really harmonize well with the middle notes, but the top notes suck unfortunately. However you'll get the strong cumin if you smell it up close and the fragrances projection is pretty good, so people around you and you yourself won't get the cumin note as strong if they don't smell you up close. Also the annoying cumin note never goes away and is even overpowering hours after applying. Definitely Unisex and definitely for winter or autumn.

Yes it is amber all the way, of the clearest labdanum type, with tobacco on top which cleanses the palate of all extremities. Like a distilled version of many niche ambers that I recall and that would always have some twist for art's sake. This speaks ''pure" to my nose and I find it amazing to elaborate on the idea of a "cologne" with ingredients that are supposed to be thick, layered, syrupy, smoked, spiced or incensed. A wonderful tobacco note dries out the excessive calories and eliminates the need for further play. It really gives the impression of dry, top-quality tobacco in its natural state, before its arrival at the creator's lab. Soft and safe, yet deep, dark and interesting at the same time, a rare combination of qualities.

Tried this on my recent trip to San Francisco at Atelier Cologne's store in the Fillmore District. Stunning scent - deep, powerful, evocative stuff. This is the one from their entire range that stood out for me. As I write this, the sample that was sprayed on my wrist at 11:00am is still going strong at 6:30pm, so it's a solid performer too. However, Tobacco Nuit would be redundant on my shelf due to its similarity to Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens. Despite having very different note structures, these two scents are similar to my nose.

I smoked a Honduran cigar to celebrate the birth of my first child. Tobacco Nuit is the closest I’ve come to the smell of that cigar: tobacco, nutty tonka (not sweet vanilla), cumin and a touch of green. The cumin gives it an overt skankiness and eroticism lacking in fragrances such as Tobacco Vanille and Tobacco Oud. For me this is less Orient and more southern Spain. Carmen may have worked in a tobacco factory, but this is Don Juan.

Sharp animalic musty synthetic agarwood opening resting on a base of powerful smoky resins and sweet caramelic vanillic tones. Smells quite similar to the legendary Kalemat Black by Arabian Oud minus its performance. Hence, the comparisons to 24 gold as well which is basically the kalemat red gene. All in all. Polarising yet much better than Kalemat in terms of wearability. I wouldnt pay the price. Honestly.
