Vetiver Fatal

Vetiver Fatal was an unexpected surprise when I first tried it a few years ago! To me, it's just a gorgeous syrupy vetiver with plummy jam. I love vetiver fragrances--everything from the fresh greens to the dark and dirties--but the ladies in my life (mostly my fragrance borrowing daughters) aren't quite as fond of them, although they will occasionally borrow my Original Vetiver. At the time, I recall wanting a bottle of Chanel Sycomore, but I decided Encre Noire was a suitable alternative (for my vetiver fix) along with picking-up Vetiver Fatal since I liked the notes, it received good reviews, and I wanted to round-out my vetiver collection. I have been very happy with my purchase. This fragrance smells fantastic but it may disappoint if you're expecting a "Fatal" (namesake) vetiver fragrance. The opening (which fills a room) can lean a bit on the feminine side for the first few minutes, but the drydown is really nice albeit light on the vetiver, to some, because it is the smooth/clean variety versus dark, dirty, rooty vetivery. The ladies absolutely adore this scent! In fact, my daughters often absconded with my bottle and it may be one of their favorite Spring/Summer fragrances. Performance is excellent in that this fragrance lasts 8-hours on my skin and projects a bit above average (really pushes out the first hour). Vetiver Fatal is an excellent fragrance that men and women will enjoy smelling. While I will probably continue reaching for dependable vetiver scents like Grey Vetiver, Terre d'Hermes and Guerlain Vetiver when I'm in a vetiver mood, occasionally locating my bottle of Vetiver Fatal is a refreshing change of pace. In retrospect, perhaps they should rename this juice "Vetiver Fatal Attraction" because I certainly get excited when I smell it on the ladies.

Vetiver Fatale is beautiful. it's a very bright, uplifting kind of fragrance. Initial notes are a sweet, citrus punch from the lemon and bergamot notes. These then get sweetened pretty strongly by the Rich Plum note layered with orange blossom and violet leaf on the side , and the woody Cedar n Vetiver keeps the fragrance lean and clean so to speak. This slightly citrusy plum and Vetiver combination is the heart of the fragrance and it stays this way for a long time. I dont get any oud note per se but if it's there, it's probably the synthetic kind used as a fixative for the rest of the notes. The dry down is more woody and the sweetness from the plum becomes more of a hint. Projection is good, pretty nice and strong for the first 3-4 hours. Longevity is around the 7-8 hour mark on skin for me in this winter weather which is great because this is not a "Heavy" frag and wearing it is an effortless joy. Two other sweet vetiver fragrances it reminds me of to varying degrees are Byredo Bal D'Afrique and Hermes Vetiver Tonka. Bal D'Afrique is very similar except it uses Black currant to VF's Plum. Vetiver Tonka is slightly sweeter with it's use of caramel and praline notes added to the tonka bean with none of the fruitiness. On me atleast, Vetiver Fatale performs better than the other 2 for longevity. If you like either Bal D'Afrique or Vetiver Tonka, check this out as chances are you will love Vetiver Fatale. Also if you are looking for a Vetiver frag but dont want to go down the Citrus- Vetiver route like TF Grey Vetiver and Dueto Citiver or the Woody - vetiver route like Lalique Encre Noir, Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatale is definitely worth a look. I love this fragrance and cant recommend it enough.

The "Fruity" Vetiver... Vetiver Fatal by is a wonderfully sweet, plummy vetiver. It's not dry or too harsh like a lot of other vetiver fragrances, instead it's lush and sweet and fruity. Very nice! It opens with a beautiful mix of citrus and violet leaf, giving a very "wet" impression, but is swiftly joined by a very sweet, juicy, almost "stewed" plum accord. The use of plum here is very nice as I don't see this note a lot in fragrances. It combines with the vetiver and stops it becoming too dry or too green. The greenness is still there, but it's sweeter (like a sweet, ripe plum), and in no way is it artificial. Basically the impression I get is of a field in May where plum trees are growing nearby, and you can smell the grass and earth and hay, before going over to the tree and picking the fruit, which is full of (natural) sweetness, no artificial sugar, just a pure natural one... and it's like closing your eyes and smelling the plum, before putting it in your mouth and tasting the sweetness. This is the impression I get from this one. The smells of the sweet fruits of nature. I think that maybe if you dislike very sharp, green fragrances and are looking for something a little "sweeter", then try this one out. I also think that if you have been trying vetiver fragrances and didn't find the right one for you, then give this one a try. I think that even a vetiver lover would like this one as it is a very playful, casual fragrance, but which can be worn in formal occasions too (basically anywhere). A lovely fragrance which reminds me of nature at it's finest. Good stuff!

As raw_umber reviews below, Atelier Vetiver Fatal is indeed like the whole plum tree, fruit, leaves, wood, and root. There is some bergamot and orange blossom at the very top but that is shortly subdued by a dusky plummy note. The plum note isn't all that fruity - it has some of the bitterness of the plum skin in it and it is blended with herbal and woody notes that I imagine as the plum leaves and wood. Gradually the plum tree subsides and leaves a base that is a deliciously rich vetiver. I find vetiver almost impossible to describe (and all the descriptions I have read somehow seem to miss the mark), so if you are new to perfume appreciation you just have to get some vetiver oil and smell it yourself. At first I found the name "Vetiver Fatal" strange, since it made it sound as if this should be some sort of ultimate VETIVER powerhouse, which it is not. Now I imagine that the intent of the name was closer to a siren song of sweet fruit and flower beckoning the sailor closer, only to be dashed on the rocks of vetiver (I love vetiver but it is not a sweet friendly smell - fortunately it is more like being bound with padded handcuffs by a naked X (your choice of gender) than actual rocky pain). Later note - now I am again wondering about who is in charge of naming perfumes at Atelier. They make another one called Silver Iris that is all black currant, pepper, and patchouli, about as unsilvery and non-iris/orris a scent as possible. They should give their nose a raise and fire whoever chooses names.

I ordered this and Santal Carmen from samples. I was not so excited about Vetiver Fatal when first sampled, now it is my second favorite Atelier after Musc Imperial. It is a very unusual vetiver, I have many. The only fragrance that reminded me of this from over 300 reviews is He Wood Rocky Mountain. Because of the vetiver, violet, musc. But this is so more refined with better quality notes. This is more fruity than Rocky Mountain. It is in the genre of Creed Vetiver Geranium, but better, a fresh fragrance with more... The plum and violet go so well together. It's a bit on the sweet side, not too much. The main players are vetiver and violet leaf, which are an unusual vetiver combo. Then you have the bergamot, orange blosom, and plum which give it that light Atelier Cologne feel. So it's an unusual fruity vetiver that's not too sweet, very well done. This is a signature worthy fragrance. I like this better than Creed Vetiver Geranium, the freshness is similar, but Vetiver Fatal has more aromatic sophistication. This is like Atelier's Our Saphir, but Oud Saphir falls short in trying to be a more serious Oud fragrance. Vetiver Fatal is not pretentious, and comes off better and more sophisticated than the simple fresh vetiver it claims to be. I got the impression of lime for the nice fresh citrus here, but non listed. The citruses are secondary, this is more than an Atelier citrus freshy. Rating: 8.5/10 God bless. John 3:16

اول همون رایحه ی غنی شده ی آلو خیلی غالب هست.بعد از یک و نیم ساعت بلاخره اون آلوی غنی شده بمقدار زیادی به کناری میره و میزاره که وتیورنفسش بالا بیاد! یه بوی شاداب؛ کمی سبزدر این حالت پیدا میکنه که بسیار مطبوعه. در واقع به یکباره بعد از 1.5 ساعت بوی عطر بکلی دگرگون شد و یکدفعه شیفت کرد به بویی سبز و دوست داشتنی. البته در اینجا بوی آلو هم در پس زمینه خودش رو مطرح میکنه. ولی اصلا محسوس نیست و این آلو باعث میشه که یه پایه ی بسیار محکم باشه برای سایر عناصر عطر در این فاز نتهای میانی که به اون تکیه کنند تا شالوده ی کلی عطر در این مرحله به زیبایی شکل بگیره First, the enriched plum scent is very dominant. After an hour and a half, finally, that enriched plum goes to the side and makes the vetiver breath rise! a fresh smell; It gets a little green in this state, which is very pleasant. In fact, suddenly after 1.5 hours, the smell of Beckley's perfume changed and suddenly shifted to a green and lovely smell. Of course, here the smell of plums is also present in the background. But it is not noticeable at all and this plum makes it a very strong base for other elements of the perfume in this phase of the middle notes to rely on so that the overall foundation of the perfume is beautifully formed in this phase.

Vetiver Fetal perfume from Atelier Colon brand starts after spraying with the scent of wheezing plant. Gradually, the aroma becomes rich and cooked, which is caused by plums. There is another perfume from the same brand called Chambre Nougat, which is very similar to this perfume. The difference is that Chambre Nougat perfume is a perfume with a leather-like scent that is also for winter, and this perfume is very similar to Nougat Chambre perfume in its middle notes, and it is quite characteristic that you smell perfumes from the same brand. The reason for this analogy is the existence of plum notes. بهار در بطری عطر وتیور فتال از برند اتولیه کولون پس از اسپری کردن با رایحه ی گیاه خس خس آغاز میشود. به تدریج بوی عطر غنی و پخته میشود که این عمل تحت تاثیر آلو بوجود میاد. عطری دیگری از همین برند هست به نام چمبره نواق وجود دارد که بسیار شبیه به این عطر هست. با این تفاوت که عطر چمبره نواق عطری با بویی چرم مانند هست که مخصوص زمستان هم هست و این عطر هم در نتهای میانی اش بسیار شبیه به عطر چمبره نواق هست و کاملا مشخصه که عطرهایی از یک برند رو دارید میبویید. علت این وجه تشبیه هم وجود نت آلو هست

Love this scent. For those of you that love vetiver start to finish, this might not be for you. I get the vetiver at the tail end of the fragrance, not necessarily the dry down, but just as the scent settles on my skin, the vetiver comes thru. And, it's more of a smoky vetiver than say 'Grey Vetiver' by Tom Ford. That one is pure from the start, but this one, because of the sweeter notes added, plum, tonka, has more depth to it for mine. Saw that this reminded some people of 'Vetiver tonka' by Hermes; I can see the comparison, but the main differences I find are that vetiver is more pronounced in this one, and this is less sweet (which I like). Again, the plum adds the sweetness and it's just the right amount for me, not overpowering the vetiver, but combining with it for a uniquely earthy end result. Sillage is good for the first 30 mins or so, then settles very close to the skin. Longevity is not bad, but again, very close to this skin after the first hour or so.

i smelt this a while back and i hated it! it was cloyingly sweet with some dusty man-cologne in the back and it just felt like a gross dichotomy. i gave it a few months, and for whatever reason i decided to try it again and I'm really fond of this. it smells a lot like bal d'afrique, but i prefer vetiver fatale to that. BDA has this ugly opening that smells like walking into a body shop store and having your nose assaulted by indistinct fruits/sweets and an overall synthetic vibe. VF has a similar fruity vibe, but it doesn't get as explosive as BDA, rather citrus and plum combine to provide a sweet, creamy backing to the smoky, grassy, slightly bitter vetiver that stays throughout the duration of the scent. it projects for a 2 hours or so, but dies almost entirely after 3/4, so the longevity is unfortunately weak on me :( i like this though, its a versatile scent and a nice introduction to vetivers (at least for me!)

Atelier Cologne created a excellent summer fragrance with Vetiver Fatal. I really enjoy the lighter version whereas a lot of other brands give a deep heavy woodsy or even a somewhat "smokey" scent. Atelier use of Calabrian bergamot and plum makes this cologne a very unique fragrance which isn't too feminine yet deep enough to make it also a masculine cologne. I agree with a few of those who mention they can not detect Oud, which is very woodsy and heavy, this cologne isn't all. I also agree that this cologne is just a touch sweet or fresh and that's what makes this cologne stand apart from the others. Longevity is over 6 hour's Sillage is moderate...a lot of the other brands lean to heavy. Overall I enjoy using this cologne and recommand it to those who like the note of Vetier during the spring/summer time.

VF opens with a super-strong citrusy scent, but then the violet leaf and the plum pick up, and it becomes the most creamy, citrusy-woody fragrance I've smelled so far. Unfortunately, this phase lasts only a couple of hours (while the projection is still strong), and soon it becomes just another vetiver cologne. It's still quite pleasant, and it can work nicely in the summer months, it's only that what was before was heavenly. I must have a problem with AC fragrances, as I usually love the opening, but then I'm left underwhelmed: looks like a lousy marketing strategy. Projection is moderate, but the lasting power is great for a cologne, 12 h, and counting. 7/10

Fabulous scent ,a piece of art, really deserves its name "Vetiver fatal". Yea it has a spectacular charming fatal character behind its soft and clean face like a poisonous beautiful green snake camouflages amongst green woods. First you smell it feels like you are facing a sweet and fresh safe scent but not too far later you'll see its bitter poisonous seducting face when Ahhhh man thats too late you are trapped in its charming fatal air... Contains high quality vetiver the same quality as creed and tom ford but contrary to the other vetivers it has an amazing character which totally differs it from other vetivery perfumes.

Vetiver Fatale by Atelier Cologne: "Vetiver Fatale," takes the wearer to the far off home of the vetiver plant. To a land steeped in mystic exoticism... It is not just a scent, but a journey: to a summer dusk in a Javanese marsh. The sky is dark with a tinge of blood orange and the sun sets over the tree line. Your guide is eating an orange as he navigates the river raft and you can smell the peels wafting towards you. The air is cool, sticky and sweet; it clings to the skin and lines the lungs with a certain joie de vivre. Dusk fades into night and the journey comes to an end. This is "Vetiver Fatale." 8.5/10

I've taken a liking to Vetiver but this is something special. I really can't compare it to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver but its right there if not A STEP ABOVE IT! THIS STUFF IS AMAZING! Its tricky cause the vetiver doesn't show up until a good 15 minutes after the initial spray & it just gets better & better as time passes. At first i get a woody citrus vibe that transitions into a more masculine take on vetiver that I believe is AMAZING! I can smell some citruses in the background & some oud that i thing is giving it the scent that masculine feeling. Definitely a must have if you're into Vetiver...

Vetiver is not usually a note I would seek out in a fragrance because it tends to be a little "sharp" in the compositions I'm familiar with, but the vetiver here is well-balanced and blended with the other notes: plum, bitter orange, cedar and oud. Oud is another note I don't care for in high doses, which is why I'm glad Atelier used just a dash to compliment the vetiver. I use this alone and as a base for other Atelier fragrances that have similar orange/cedar notes: Orange Sanguine and Trefle Pur. It also blends nicely with Rose Anonyme and Vanille Insensee. Give it a try!

This is a very very different and unique take on Vetiver. I like it. I don't like Byredo BDA though. This is kind of it's own fragrance as I have yet to smell anything like it. Like a sweet aquatic Vetiver. Far from earthy and woody or spicy. The longevity is good and projecting isn't bad. Not femm or masculine, just a great smelling scent that I would not pass up . I would say great for the summer if you are one who wears things during seasons only. Overall, due to the awesome price point, I will get a full bottle. 8.5/10 Very interesting juice :)

Amazing...Vetiver Fatal is clean,soapy,fresh,natural quality cologne , masterfully blended . The projection is good and longevity is better It is proper for using on days This product is appropriate for warm weather spring/summer citrus and woody perfume. best perfumes with base scent vetiver I have ever had.. 100% unisex it smells like Hermessence Vetiver Tonka..but without the tonka bean note.Less sweet and a bit more fresh. also It smells similar to byredo bal di afrique at half the price. it's super smooth with a signature citrus.. love it

Vetiver Fatal is an exciting take on Vetiver. I love the fact that it was bold enough to distinguish itself from the earthy and almost smoky ingredient, and as much as I admire the sheer richness of it, I wanted to try something different. It blends very well with my skin, and it's perfect for the warm seasons. For me, it's very aromatic, naturally fresh, and green with a hint of spices. It is perfect when I'm out and about and want to wear something that lasts on my skin and feels elegant. Perfect. I have the large 200ml bottle.

I think this is a top 3 from Atelier Cologne. It's a very enjoyable vetiver and violet at the heart. The plum and orange along with citruses, makes it juicy and fresh. There is a little nutty tonka like something in the mix. Making some compare it to Hermes Vetiver Tonka. This reminds me of Terre de Hermes, but a little sweeter and with violet. There is a synthetic ozonic note, that gives it an aqua vibe. This also reminds me of "He Wood" by Dsquared. If you like fresh woody violet fragrances, give this a try. God bless.

Easily one of my favorite smells right now. It's fresh, spicy, and the drydown is slightly creamy and settles down into my skin beautifully. Lasts for at least 8 hours, and is gorgeous through the entire development of the fragrance, leaving me wanting more. This scent is so perfect right now for the start of summer, and will probably be just as perfect in the fall. I'll definitely be saving up some money for this beauty. Keep shining, you beautiful people.

At first it is very dark with loads of vetiver only, which is not really enjoyable but after a while (approximatley 10-15 mins) it becomes a bit sweeter and much more enjoyable and at that moment it is very similar to Bal d'afrique, if not identical. I believe this one has a much better projection than Bal d'afrique and the price is similar. I would pick this one 10 out of 10 times instead of Bal d'afrique. Scent: 9/10 Projection: 8/10 Longevity: 8/10

I truly agree with most of reviewers here. This is unlike many others vetivery frags that I've experienced so far. First of all you can absolutely exclude two notes here (Agarwood and Vetiver)!! They don't exist and if it's so then they are in tiny dose and far off. What I think of when I smell VF is creamy, oily, sweet alluring scent. violet leaf and plum combo is delicious and gives a buttery and sexy vibe to the scent. I love it.

This scent is great! I would not describe it as a 100% clean scent like those Citrus based fragrances but it has such a beautiful earthy green scent to me. I would compare this with the base of Green Irish Tweed (without the sprinkling lemon, iris and violets). This is definitely worth a try for the Fougere and Earthy Green Woody fragheads! 8.5/10 and maybe even more in the future! Will use my decant till the last drop...

wow... the vetiver doesn't come in until later in the game. i'd say at haftime. those fruity notes pre-vetiver are awesome. this is a good one imo. one of my favorite vetivers and probably has knocked tom ford gv edp down a spot. can be worn in the warm to hot weather, day or night. work or play. dressed up or down. i love it very unisex . lasts about 8 hours on me and projects about an armlength. overall imo 9/10

Definitely my favorite by far from Atelier, this smells like a much sweeter version of Terre D'Hermes EDP. As if you took TdH and injected it with a super-sweet sugary plum note. It's quite nice really, and it lasts a long time with good projection too. However I still find Terre D'Hermes the better, more interesting scent in this genre so for me Vetiver Fatale is a pass - despite the cool name.

I wore this today to work after not using it for months... And I had a smile on my face all day. Such a pleasant and comforting vetiver / plum scent. It is unisex, but I feel it leans masculine. It is sweet and not dry. It lasted 6 hours on me even though I could still smell it on my skin after even 12 hours (faint). It is definitely Decant / sample worthy to see if it works for you

The first time that I tried this with a sample, I don't like it so much. I tried it another time and I discovered an incredible frag. Very good vetiver with light citrus and a sweet note plum. Very well blended and wearable in all seasons ans any time. A must have to me and maybe a masterpiece. Longevity and projection are very good. scent: 9/10 longevity: 8/10 sillage: 7/10

Lovely, fresh, not too crisp, not too sharp betiver that just makes me feel FRESH and slightly woodsy. I’d heard this compared to Byredo Bal D’Afrique. To me, this is slightly more herbal and Bal D’Afrique is stronger on the citrus and spice. Right now it’s in the 70s and I find Vetiver Fatal more wearable whereas Bal D’Afrique is too strong. Both really lovely scents.

OMG, my absolute favorite from the Advent calendar vials. Wonderful combination of fragrant vetiver and "figgy" plum. This fragrance makes me happy, when i get the full size it bound too be my signature. The citrus and wood notes are nicely balanced with the main notes and give longingevity to the fragrance. The sillage is good as well. I love this fragrance.

First of all, Bal d'afrique is MUCH more floral than this. I don't think much resemblance is there. Secondly, what is it about plum that I love so much? I can't really smell much of plum here but it give just the right amount of sweetness to this. I am not usually impressed by vetiver but this composition just works so well. It's simple but great.

Incredibly addicting scent. Like some others, I also keep smelling my arm. This has a nice balance of plum and vetiver. The plum note to me has a little bit of a jam quality..on the thick side. This is not a light scent nor is it too heavy. Just perfect. Long lasting and moderate sillage. Using this in the hot Florida Sun and its works great.

I desperately need to find a place to buy some of these samples from Atelier, especially this one! I've read and heard this is the signature scent Christophe Cervacel -founder and co-creator along with his wife.... Very very intriguing, but I'm tired of doing niche blind buys... The last one was over $375 and I was STUCK with it.......

Utterly beautiful, soft, spicy, creamy, similar to Allure Edition Blanche in its smoothness, lovely orange citrus smell with fresh cut masculine wood in the background. I can detect every single listed note in here. Not sure about longevity, assuming 4-6hrs as it often is with these very natural scents. Smell itself is 9/10 for me.

Vetiver Fatal is a delicious, fresh and invigorating fragrance. At first spray I detect some vetiver with fruity/citrus notes. The dry down is a creamy vetiver like none other. I love the way Atelier Cologne mixes the vetiver with the citruses. Usually vetiver based fragrances are bold and earthy. This one is not and I love it.

Just wanted to throw this out there in case people were wondering the differences, as I too had the same question. Vetiver Tonka: Sweet, Hazlenut, Vetiver, airy Vetiver Fatal: Dryer, Fruit (plum), Vetiver, tad fresher Bal D’Afrfrque: Sweeter, Powdery, vetiver, dense (IMO leans feminine) No experience with Viaggio D’Africa

The opening is quite grassy and vegetal, with a bit of sweetness in the background. I prefer the dry down, which is more sweet and creamy. A somewhat unconventional vetiver fragrance, but one of my favorites. The only thing holding me back from buying a full bottle is the longevity, which is rather poor on my skin.

Totally agree with Super Sniffer. Viaggio D'Africa is in my opinion the least favored of these four since that one on my skin has an overwhelming and lasting tone of anise. On me Vetiver Fatal is the one with the least sillage and longevity. To me the one most similar to Vetiver Tonka.

Prominent citrus, neroli and violet leaf in the opening. Bright, green and refreshing. Then the plum and vetiver come out to play along with fairly non-specific woody tones as the scent dries down. This is definitely a skin scent, but it lasts a long time for a summer cologne.

I think I actually like this better than Vetiver Extraordinaire. I love the citrus and fruit top notes. and the base that lingers is a really nice vetiver. It lasts forever, and I never forget I'm wearing it. This could be the perfect go-to when I'm in the mood for vetiver.

This smells great -- but very familiar. If anyone has ever smelled YSL L'Homme Libre, this can be described as that, with a much more natural dry down. The violet leaf is strong with this one. It's a pleasant and energizing scent that should work well in every season.

This is a truly amazing fragrance, smells like Hermessence Vetiver Tonka at the fraction of the price. Very Nice version of Vetiver, smooth and creamy. Bravo! If you are looking for something different and original must give this a try!!!

Another incredible fragrance from Atelier Cologne! Yes, it resembles Vetiver Tonka quite a bit, but in my opinion, the quality you get in terms of price, it ́s great. One of my favorite scents!

Really one of the best vetiver fragrances, there is some similarity with vetiver Tonka but I think Vetiver Fatal is way better much wearable
