E 3

Among the five fragrances in this series, E3 is the only one I don’t particularly like. Right after spraying, the first thing I notice is coffee. It smells like dry, bitter coffee. Shortly after, there is a very brief flash of bergamot and grapefruit, just a moment of brightness before it disappears. The main focus remains the coffee. After a while the coffee gradually fades. It doesn’t disappear suddenly but slowly moves into the background. The geranium listed in the notes is almost impossible to detect. What follows is patchouli, vetiver, and cedar. This stage lasts quite a long time, and for several hours the scent stays fairly stable, mainly woody with an earthy character. By the drydown, the coffee has completely disappeared. The woody notes also weaken, leaving mainly musk and amber. At this point the scent sits very close to the skin and needs to be smelled up close. The amber is not sweet, and the musk feels quite dry, with little further development. In E3, the key moments are the coffee in the opening and the woody structure in the middle. The drydown doesn’t leave much of a lasting impression.
