Blues

I loved the experience of this scent. It was very nostalgic to me, it smelled like an art studio I went to as a kid in Burlington on Lake Champlain. It has that seaweed smell of the lake side, something very much like acrylic paint, and these beautiful summery jasmine blooms all throughout. The resin pulls everything together. I get why people might not find this wearable, there is that "dirty minerality", something almost blood like but I find that deeply appealing. I like a scent that really feels like its mingling with body chemistry and changing over time and this really gives that. It's very embodied, there's sensuality to the salt.

It seems like this brand is trying hard to project a certain image with this perfume - limited edition, smear of paint across the bottle, silk scarf with a bit of paint on it - but the proof is in the perfume itself and I found it revolting. Some seaweed rotting on the beach with a hint of glue and ink, or maybe gasoline. Something about the dirty minerality might have been decent in a smaller dose, but this was an overload. One of the few fragrances I've ever smelled that made me instantly recoil, and not in an, "Ooh, that's intriguing, let me tiptoe back to carefully have another whiff of this interesting perfume" way. Maybe I'm just not cool enough to "get" it, but I don't know why you'd pay lots of money to smell like this!
