Crépuscule Des Âmes

Been testing this one more thoroughly for a couple of days now. I'm really getting into the brand, loving the white collection a whole lot. I originally thought it would be lighter, softer perhaps more feminine scents but not quite. They seem muskier, perhaps slightly subdued but definitely still with a presence and Atelier Des Ors's sophistication, yet you don't need a degree in chemistry to understand them. I chose this one as my first review of the brand because it's the one that seems to be a little divisive, and I can think of a few reasons right off the bat. Let's get the hyraceum debacle out of the way. Sure, hyraceum is quite a powerful musk. It's punchy, urinous with obvious sexual connotations. Here however, it's there and does bring a playfulness but I don't at all smell anything offensive. It's especially present in the opening for me, but it's really only dirty if you really bring your mind there, in my opinion. Otherwise, all I get is aromatic, almost barbershop-y sage with a citrusy zing. What surprised me is how much it morphs on my skin. For those who don't know, musk is activated by your skin, its heat and how basic/acidic your skin is. On my side, I've been told an acidic skin that "runs hot" is especially good for the deeper "blacker" musks and I believe it, as I've found musky fragrances work very well on me. So while at first spray it's musky and citrusy, on me it quickly morphs. The pimento and cardamom take center stage with a bit of an animalic incense tinge (perhaps the hyraceum helps this?). I honestly am not familiar with hyssop but from the description, it might contribute to this aromatic, spicy middle. The base after an hour or so is powdery and musky and slightly earthy (patchouli?), but it's not a soft, clean laundry musk. It's more masculine, once again perhaps helped by hyraceum. I love the changing of this fragrance in 3 seamless yet discernable phases. All in all, to me this is a barbershop fragrance but done differently, with a muskier and more aromatic vibe. I really love it, it lasts for a good while too, 7-8 hours on me or more if it's warmer, with a 2 hours or so of decent projection then gets closer to skin. The projection is not massive but that's the point, otherwise it'd be overwhelming. The trail I've been told is manly and sexy. What more to ask? If you like barbershop fragrances and want something different, try this one. I suggest a decant however, it's not going to be for everyone.

Crepuscule des Ames is a very interesting fragrance. While it is considered mostly a masculine scent and is often compared with shaving cream, I find it totally unisex. For me, the most noticeable notes are clary sage, mandarin and cardamom. So I get mainly a strong herbal, aromatic and fresh scent with sweet citrusy undertones and spices: cardamom and pimento. I get other things, that could be the notes I am not familiar at all with like hysop and hyrax. There’s something unique in here that I haven’t smelled before so I think it could be a combination of those two notes. What I can’t smell is the patchouli and the incense that is supposed to be in the dry down. But the overall smell is really nice and addictive. This is a different type of aromatic fragrance than what I have or smelled so far. I think it’s unique and I wouldn’t mind getting a full, stunning, bottle of Crespuscules des Ames in my collection. Atelier des Ors bottles and packaging is spectacular with real gold flakes floating through the juice. Unique again. Season wise, I think it’s mostly suited for spring and fall wear. It might be too much for the summer. It’s quite an intense scent. Edit spring 2024: got myself a bottle on a 40% discount. Over the moon!

I blind bought this one for a great price and I'm glad I did. This is my first fb from the brand and I didn't really like the look of the bottle. But now that I see it in person, it's really beautiful. The gold flakes, the starburst pattern on the back, a seahorse on the heavy white metal lid, it's a really captivating and very heavy bottle. The fragrance is also great. As others said, the opening 30-ish minutes does smell like shave foam. Then it starts warming up into spicy honey, amber, and hyrax. This is NOT that animalic. Vintage Kouros is waaay more pissy and challenging than this. This is a breeze to wear. It has a vintage throwback feeling. A masculine, mature, and confident gentleman through and through. It's compared to Opium PH but I prefer this one as removes the florals for spices and hyraceum Classy, classic, decent performance, decent quality ingredients, artistic bottle, a winner on every level for me. ⚜️ Scent 8.4/10 Performance 6.5/10

I bought a sample of this based on the Luckyscent description, and by now I should probably know better than to think my perception will match their writers' BUT alas! It’s not often the case. Gosh can they sell me on an idea though! Now that’s not to say I don’t enjoy this, because it’s actually really lovely, it just leans far too masculine for me to pull off. I think this would smell DIVINE on a man though, especially in cooler weather. It has that cozy, pull-you-in-closer vibe. Comes across as both slightly fresh but also warm and inviting. In that duality I think they actually did an amazing job of capturing its essence in the descriptions that mention dusk/twilight. Really gorgeous but not for me to wear!

Ahh yes. This is magnificent. A modern spicy department store victory cup of orange pop soda flickers by, it's wake suddenly complicated by a stunning yet tame hyrax woven among pillows upon pillows of one of those captivating and captive peppery wood molecules ISO-lated from patchouli.

This is a masterpiece! Artistry perfected in this bright and mysterious composition. Sparkles of my skin and brings joy to all that come within a arms length. Signature scent worthy. Definitely want to keep this magical elixir in my collection.

Been trying a few samples from this house in the last couple of days and so far, this is one of them I favour more. It's a surprise in a number of ways. For a start, the almost Wagnerian name certainly wasn't preparing me for a reasonably light, fresh(ish) fragrance. And secondly, as is my tendency, the gestalt leaves my brain associating it with very different notes from what is apparently in there, or something like that. My expertise only extends to For example, there's something almost marine-like about it; kelpish. It's definitely only a half-remembered memory from childhood in a fragrance or soap that I associate with the sea, although I can't remember it specifically. And there's something that comes out fairly quickly that has a vaguely tobacco aspect to it, not the dark, rich tobacco aspect of an unlit cigar in a humidor, but more like the trail of sweet cherry pipe tobacco in the air. Yet, it's immediately clear that it is NOT tobacco, if that makes sense; maybe the clary sage combining with other things. This key tension between the greener, fresher—spiky, even—notes and the richer, burnt woody notes make a very pleasant combination. Contrary to the apparent consensus, I don't find it particularly spicy: a fan of fragrances in which incense is a driving note, I barely notice it here (and that's not a criticism). I personally find that it dries down to a sweet, powdery air with interesting fresh notes, barely detectable.

This is fantastic. It's so challenging for a man to wear this in the office (I find*), this is a flowery fruity powerful cocktail that I could see myself wear dressed up to a club, and flowery -- mind you -- that reminds me of a sauvage EDP of a type with much more pleasantries, higher quality ingredients, and much more undulating scent profiles from the first initial 1-5min, through to the dry down. Super impressed, need a back up bottle ASAP. 9/10. Edit: Still a top frag rotation list. Committed and got myself a second back up tester bottle. Perhaps that I'm outside of the honeymoon phase with this, it's more of an 8.5/10 to me all things considered -- which to me, is still incredibly good, considering nothing is a 10 to me except 13z01,15X21, and/or 16J01. The impact notes hit hard, and the item stays on clothes 4 - 5 hours to my nose, albeit nothing like the first 2 hours. Love it, sweet, citrusy, sharp, clary sage, aromatic musky, love the cardamom+incense+patchouli combo that undulate/play with each other as the fragrance dies down, with a bit of a muskiness always present to some degree throughout.

I’ve had this for a couple years, but haven’t worn it much. I decided to give it a spray to remind myself of the scent, and I must say it really does remind me of Opium Pour Homme. I think way the cardamom mixes with the hyrax gives off an anise-like accord, and that’s what conjures the YSL. Think Opium PH, but with the addition of a slight skank due to the hyrax. I do enjoy it quite a bit and my girlfriend was very impressed when I wore it awhile back, if that’s something of concern. As a whole the brand seemed a little gaudy, but they don’t lack quality or creativity - It’s more so their boisterous presentation and exorbitant price tags that had me slightly hesitant and probably subconsciously more critical of their ventures, but I must give credit where credit is due. Right now, I’d give this a respectable 3/5.

Shift from light to dark is the theme for this Crepuscule des Ames from the trio of the White Collection. W warm glow of the skin, slightly animalic aura. Opening of mandarin and warm cardamom with clary sage start of on a spicy note and gets deeper with incense and pimento berries on the bed of haraceum and earthy patchouli. The skin wears close to skin but is definitely a warm earthy scent that will warm you up in the chilly weather. Scented regards, @olyabar

Crépuscule Des Âmes is a spicy aromatic musk. And much to my surprise, I’m enjoying my maiden voyage. I agree that it leans masculine but I’ve always enjoyed fragrances that are identified as unisex or male, even when I was in my 20s and had a less sophisticated fragrance palette. I have had trouble with Atelier des Ors perfumes in the past, but this one is fun. Not sure about paying retail, but a used bottle or decant is possible. Strong like.

I highly agree, it does remind me of a spicy shaving gel. It's incredibly spicy, I mostly feel the cardamom. The sage - I can barely feel it at all. I don't feel much of musk either. I agree that the main core of the perfume is non-sweet. Very very barbershop-like. Not for me.

I get a Very musky, aromatic, and spicy scent, with a non-sweet honey note. Animalic without smelling dirty or stinky in any way. (Like a freshly washed pet, maybe? I don't know, i don't have pets)

The opening of this is lovely - there is that classic combination of orange and cardamom sweetness and freshness mixed in with a gentle incense, sage and pimento. The hyssop adds a camphorous floral element. Half an hour in the mintiness begins to emerge. But then the hyrax kicks in and that urinous note ruins things. If it wasn't for that, I'd be a big fan. Shame.

Tested from vial on skin. Distinctive nods to male cologne, by which I mean common masculine fresh perfumes. It does have a little bit of twist to it (or maybe I’m just being biased due to praising reviews below), but as a female, on my skin, it doesn’t captivate me, doesn’t smell like me, rather like a stranger next to me.

It smells to me like a very solid musky-barbershop. It may be a good option for lovers of that kind because it is a strong scent. I own or have tried a lot of cardamom scents, I can't put this in that category.

The first sniff brought to mind aftershave. As it continued to develop, I enjoyed it more.I got some citrus notes, well blended and strangely enough I got a powdery finish. Nice, but not a love for me.

Smells absolutely amazing except for the Hyrax. I just don’t get wanting to smell like an actual dirty animal.

I don't dislike this scent, but agree with the comment below that it smells like shaving cream. Not for me.

a prettier, more expensive version of bleu de chanel or dior sauvage.

I second meama's comment below, smells like a generic 90s mens scent. Unremarkable at best. If I smelled this on someone I'd think they were wearing Bleu de Chanel (if I'm being generous). No hyrax detectable on my skin, which is a shame as it could have made it more interesting.

Spicy sharp herbal fragrance. I find the note pyramid to be completely off compared to the final result. No animalics to my nose. Not a fan, and low performance on my skin.

smells like a classic but also basic For Men perfume from the 90's

I must admit, I blind bought it based on the whole artistic reference and having been intrigued by the contrasting reviews... First test - on paper... intense clary sage and mandarin that just would not fade away no matter what... linear, masculine, harsh. Second test - on skin... and am I glad I gave it another chance! The top notes gained a much warmer profile, almost foreshadowing the incense, and gave me this funny feeling of anticipation... then it slowly, almost tauntingly, warmes up to almost an amber like scent, but boy does it take its time! The dry down might seem tame, but it is the "quiet after the storm". I am in love with it. Lasts at least 8 hours on my skin. It is all subjective, of course, and not a helpful review in terms of notes, etc, but I just had to share... give it another try if you can.

Where can we give in to all temptations without fear of paying the consequences? Where can we take revenge on something or someone and win? Obviously sleep. Crepuscule des Ames celebrates this transitory phase, the sunset between real life and the beginning of the dream life, with a perfect creation: citrusy opening gives way to a pungent lavender and then to opaque, foggy hints, given by an incense that can be felt but it is very delicate, and everything is strengthened by the earthiness of the patchouli. I consider it meditative, warm, wintry. “Melancholic atomic and uranic idyll” painted by Salvador Dali.

Yep as has been said, this is very close to Opium Pour Homme with a bit of added spicy skank in the opening. It must be the hyrax and maybe pimento combining to give more of a cumin-like accord rather than something closer to civet, castoreum or musk. But only in the very opening, and it's not bad even then. And the cumin-esq skank fades away quickly to almost imperceptibility. What is left is something very close to YSL Opium Pour Homme but with worse performance. It does manifest a slight shaving foam accord much like Opium Pour Homme. It has that slight anise-like sweetness and smells like there could be lavender present, although none is listed. It's nice, but my classic bottle of YSL Opium Pour Homme will suffice.

On my skin, the opening smelled strongly of gillette shaving cream. Not a bad smell, soapy, spicy. Note that I also was dabbing not spraying. Once that fades a bit I caught the "sparkle" many reviews have stated, and some of the twilight depth it's named for. Still strongly soapy to me. I like the concept, and I can find it, but only if I'm really trying. Dry down is a more complete picture for me, but still much like Gillette. This led me to research Gillette's scent creation and it turns out its a *moment* in frag history???

Blind bought it - turned out to be an amazing blind buy. Old school fougere DNA - there's definitely a shaving cream quality to it. It's made very slightly animalic which gives it more depth, intrigue and character than most fougeres of it's kind. And there's this beautiful roundness/creaminess that we're all familiar with in scents as YSL L'homme, Boss Bottled and others of the same category.

Got this for my wife for x-mas on a blind buy based on reviews. What a pleasant surprise it was to get my nose on it. Bright and complex. I always think fragrances remind me of others and this one reminds me of Xerjoff's Dhajala in the opening. Lasted about 6 hours on my wife's skin but on me I got over 10 hours. Presentation is really second to none.

Now "Crépuscule Des Âmes" is the weakest in longevity. but more animalic & more herbal.. not a beast but bit more that the other 2 in the line. It's a cardamom, incense, patchouli, and oranges. I got confused to be honest trying this one, as i need to test it again to overcome that confusion.

Animalic shaving creme. I find the opening VERY funky, like, sniffing the lingerie funky. Than, after around 20 minutes, it drastically switches genders. Interesting for sure. There is something musc ravageury about this too.

A very close to ramon monegal - dry wood , almost identical, i have them both and this speak and comparing i did are after 7 hours on testing paper. (Full dry down)
