Musc Immortel

#1033 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Yesterday I ran into my friend Rebecca, who having started a new job that takes advantage of her workaholic nature has been out of circulation for a month. She is a stunning woman and joy on two feet. She complimented me on the Carner Barcelona "D600" I was wearing and thanked me for her birthday gift, Atelier des Ors "Larmes du Desert", which after I smelled it on her I regretted not keeping that one for myself. That meeting prompted to me to pull out this decant I've had for over a year and try it out. This is another home run from Atelier des Ors and I absolutely love it. Dead center unisex. The notes here are a very hard combination to beat. Still, I would rank their "Iris Fauve" slightly ahead of this because of the stronger iris note that I prefer, and "Larmes du Desert" for it's lovely incense, and I would place this ahead of "Rouge Saray" which is a bit feminine for me, but I don't see anyone being unhappy with this fragrance. I can't actually pick out immortelle as a note, but I know it's the source of the spicy, herbal sweetness in a dozen scents I either have or have gifted to the women in my life, like Amouage "Sunshine Man"', the Amouage "Interlude Woman" I also gave Rebecca on a previous birthday. It's a note you'll find in Francesca Bianchi's "Etruscan Water", "Sex and the Sea" and "Sex and the Sea Neroli", "Unspoken Musk", which competes well with this scent (Bianchi is another house that never seems to miss). Also a note in one of my all time faves, Les Indemodables amazing "Ambre Supreme." I think this is car pool, elevator, small office safe. This is most definitely date wear. Good sillage for several hours. Skin scent all day long. I gotta own a bottle of this one.

The opening is fantastic. A whiff of beautifully blended vetiver and cypriol oil and immortelle. I could also detect patchouli, grapefruit and clary sage just like the notes listed. It smells exactly like the liquid in the bottle - golden, sparkling. 10 minutes later, some of the fresher notes are gone and now it reminds me strongly of a discontinued gem - Tom Ford's Sahara Noir. The scent still paints a golden picture, this time much less like an immortelle field and more like a desert. An hour later, a strong styrax note appears and it is here to stay, making the whole scent profile a lot more plastic-like. Now it certainly lives up to its name - Musc - but this is no real musk, in fact it reminds me very much of synthetic fur coats, but sprinkled with brown sugar. Still pleasant, but not as pleasant as its initial phases for me. Not sure if full bottle worthy for me but I can imagine there are others who might enjoy this.

I got a sample along with Iris Fauve and they are similar in the opening, with the iris more pronounced in IF of course. Atelier Des Ors has a way with iris that simply needs to be experienced.. I love the opening of this fragrance, really surprised me given the unique composition of notes. Masterfully blended and not what I expected it to smell like. Progression and dry down is beautiful, so smooth and refined. Like a sensual caress, it won't rough you up in the wilderness like some musky frags, but it will tousle your hair and linger just so.. As far as musky fragrances I've encountered, this one is best in class in my opinion. Not even a hint of stale or dusty.

My bottle has arrived! The opening to my nose is very similar to iris fauve from the same line. After further investigation the musk starts to develop nicely and gives this a slightly animalistic touch. The dry down compared to iris fauve are completely different. This dry down is gorgeous, the ambrette and musk combine for a beautiful sweet musky dry down:) longevity and Sillage are monster on my skin and my skin usually eats fragrance up. Although the opening is very similar to iris fauve I think both are bottle worthy because they are iris done in different ways and both so great. Plus can we talk about the bottles?! 24k gold flakes give it that bougie touch

Woodiness in this one, maybe because of the sweetness, smells very akin to chocolate found in perfumes. It's bitter, powdery and sweet. Not my cup of tea but not a horrible smell. EDIT: Oh wait, there's more. After several hours, yes hours, the bitterness completely subsides and whatever chocolate notes I was tripping back there. It becomes this purely warm almost honey like (but no cloying sweetness) smell with a bit of immortel and musc. So very feminine and radiating, nothing not a single bit of artificial notes I can detect. It stays for days on your clothes...

Warm sunshine on a field of autumn grass. Sweet hay. This stuff is magnificent. I'm always wanting to recapture experiences when hiking in the mountains or gardening. Musc Immortel comes very close to those moments. The only thing missing is me sneezing from the goldenrod! I would like to try Iris Fauve, but I think if I wanted to spend that money I would just get another bottle of this. I'm going to wear this a lot. So, so good. Just beautiful.

On my skin, Musc Immortel's composition is surprisingly versatile and elegant. In fact, I wore it today during a heat wave in an already hot time of year and it was a delightful experience. My nose reads musky iris, dry honied hay, and lots of ambrette. It's complex with a sense of intimacy, particularly during the drydown when the smoother, lighter musky aspects really step forward. Unisex, moderate sillage, with good longevity.

A soft-focus musk that feels like clean skin wrapped in vintage powder, Atelier des Ors Musc Immortel leans airy and refined rather than sharp or soapy. The iris gives it that elegant, cosmetic powderiness, while the immortelle adds a subtle warm, slightly caramelized glow beneath the surface. This perfume is delicate, intimate, and quietly luxurious.

First, the bottle design with gold particles is so luxurious and the same is for the scent in it. The scent is warm, luxurious and very well blended making it a very cozy and comfortable scent to wear. It has some syrupy sweetness but not too much, not like candy sweet. Try this one on the skin not on paper to get the full beauty of it.

😁 A truly beautiful composition, I fell in love with this instantly but then I'm a sucker for anything with immortelle in it. It's fairly powdery and comes off a bit feminine on my skin but doesn't stop me loving it. I personally don't experience the bitterness others have mentioned.Performance is excellent 👍

Patchouli, musk, ambrette, a bit of iris in the opening. Musc Immortel has a somewhat boozy aspect to it, probably the patchouli helps with that. I like it, it's a very cosy fragrance, but it's not unique. That being said, it's probably the best of all the similar fragrances I've tried.

Wow Musk and immortelle is what I get A rare combination and very unique to my nose I enjoyed it so did my significant other The projection was massive for couple of hours and so was the longevity It is the first black bottle from this house and iam already intrigued

It has taken me quite some time to fall for this fragrance. Immortelle is a note I struggle with due to its proximity to maple syrup - an accord I typically despise. I learned this when I purchased this scent. While I struggled with it, it was the most unique fragrance in my collection at the time I bought it and felt like art, so I kept it. Now here I am, over a year after purchasing it, enjoying every whiff. With autumn approaching in the US, wearing this feels like such an intentional transition. It feels like kissing summer goodbye and welcoming fall with a warm hug. The immortelle is very present for me, but in such a cozy, almost festive, way. I no longer wish it wasn’t there. There is a warm nostalgia that I get as this develops on my skin. It reminds me of happy times at my grandparents old house... Christmas in Georgia. I miss them, but remember them with a smile. At the same time, there is something inherently elegant about this composition, especially the way it smells in the air once it’s dried down... like luxury baby powder and a rich, vintage amber. I’m glad I gave myself time, I will be enjoying this scent this Autumn, and enjoying Autumn all the more thanks to this scent.

The opening is very patchouli on me. And then it's a bit "old fancy rich people soap" smelling, this sort of bitter sweet incensy vibe that is quite refined. It's spicy, strong, very substantial, and sweet. Not gourmand, but very very sweet. It's a wonderful scent and I'm very glad i got to experience it but it's too cloying for my taste, i could not use a whole bottle. But from a musky and sweet perfumes hater, I'm impressed i like this at all, I never would have guessed from the notes.

I like it, but at some point it starts to smell like ginger powder for seasoning. Which is unfortunate because I season my chicken with that

Strangely addictive to me. When I first smelled this many months ago - completely meh to me, didn't smell like musk but rather this strange flat woodiness. I've smelled it twice again recently (and purchased a decant to really mull over it), and I think I've started to appreciate its beauty a little more. This is powdery, but not in a makeup-powder way. It's iris in the style of carrot seeds, i.e.: very earthy, dry and brittle. On my skin, at first spray, actually very dry, hay-like, very lightly bitter. It sweetens up a little bit, 1-2 hours into wear, into a lightly sweet hay with just a touch of dark chocolate. The mid-notes and the way the cypriol sits on my skin really reminds me of the cool greenness of Diptyque's Eau Duelle. Though with no vanilla in the base. Unisex to me, actually, and leaning slightly masculine. Kind of a cool fragrance, though I admit the "musc" in the name threw me off a little at the start.

This is the older brother of Dior Homme Intense (London Finance Bro). This is the brother who inherited the larger share of the family estate. It's overbearing, masculine but softened with a powdery opulent iris. This reminds me of a people who are very subtly manipulative and pressure you into agreement with no visible aggression or coercion.

Musk Immortel is very similar to Iris Fuave with added ambrette/musk. It's a light iris musky scent with a hint of dirty patchouli and vetiver. It's a perfect every day casual scent that sit very close to the skin. Don't be afraid to over spray.

Something oddly familiar about this scent which is dry, musty, and steeped in nostalgia... not the good kind. Something like opening an antique makeup box left untouched for decades. The immortelle adds this bitter, spice-like twang that mingles with the musk, and while I occasionally experience what others may call a "sensual caress", this fragrance veers into stuffy territory. The resinous, herbal edges and earthy vetiver do add pleasant complexity by themselves, yet the overall effect somehow feels dated and slightly too stifling. Evocative perhaps, but definitely not in the way I hoped for.

This is a whimsical perfume. Musc immortal or Musc immortel.. whatever be the idea of fun it's not funny. If you feel nauseated by immortelle or tobacco please be aware this is sickening. Unfortunately (or fortunately because of the ridiculous prices) this was my first sample with this house.
