Noir by Night

A woody, salty, Airy fragrance. I would describe it in two words as: QUIET CONFIDENCE. Very interesting, but definitely in the skin scent family, which is not a bad thing at all. Becomes intimate and fades like the scent in the middle of the pages of a book. Quite delicious, not well known or praised. Super interesting, 90% masculine although I would be pleased by any woman that wears this as base and builds something on it. I do not find at all similarity in Gris de Chernel not Gris de Chernel intense. The wood here is dry, speaks in the language of aged wood— not green, not resin-rich, not freshly cut. It evokes wood that has rested, dried by time and air,it' surface pale, slightly cracked, quietly warm. The incense is present but restrained, more like a ghost of smoke drifting through an old atelier than a burning censer—transparent, mineral, never oppressive. At the heart, an unexpected weave unfolds: the saline elegance of caviar, delicate like the other notes, interlaced with the dry, herbal bitterness of mate. That creates a delicious, almost tactile contrast— savory, airy, subtly provocative. As it settles, the structure becomes soft yet firm: cashmere wood and guaiac wood intertwine, polished but never creamy, wrapping the skin in a velvety dryness that feels both intimate and unmistakably masculine. A fragrance of quiet confidence as I said in the beginning where wood crackles softly rather than burns, and every note breathes. I can see how you would need to reapply maybe or perhaps spray on clothes that can revamp as you wear them or special touches like a scarf, or a handkerchief would be perfect 👌 Anyhow, pulse points with this ( don't foget inner elbow skin, its gentle enough, go for it ) , and behind the ears and behind neck right at the beginning of the hairline: and you're gold for the day or night. Its a wonderful scent.

I really love this scent, it’s artistry. Honestly, I’ve sampled and own several fragrances, many of them sandalwood-focused, and I don’t have anything to compare this one to. By that, I’m not saying it’s the best sandalwood fragrance in the world, or even the most mind-blowing perfume I’ve ever smelled. What I am saying is that it’s really good, especially if you love sandalwood, and it feels genuinely unique. With that being said, I also don’t think it’s for everyone, so please don’t blind buy this one. It’s versatile, but not an easy reach like Tam Dao. Personally, I enjoy wearing it at night, for evenings out. On me, as a woman, it evokes a black dress and high heels kind of night. To my nose, this is perfectly unisex, though I can see some people feeling that it leans slightly masculine. Don’t be scared of the caviar note. It’s there, you can smell it, but it’s not fishy at all. In fact, I think that’s what keeps this from feeling too wintry. It brings a certain freshness to the composition, maybe not exactly freshness, but something that prevents it from becoming too serious or heavy for warmer days. The incense is also present, but it never overpowers the composition. It’s dark, sexy, and smells expensive. The bottle says it all, it perfectly reflects the juice inside. . Marie did a great job balancing all the notes. None of them dominate the fragrance, yet they’re still individually noticeable. For me, this is an 8.5/10 perfume that truly deserves more love.

Noir by Night, Atelier des Ors (Paper test, Skin test - discovery from sniff party, thank you so much) I was ignore noir by night before, I don't like marine note. You know, when you tried fragrance for more than 200 up, you kinda know where is your lane. Noir by night was brought during the sniff party. As Dark Sandalwood fragrance was something I look before. I aim at Iris Fuave but it just ain't it. As this house release Pink Me Up & Noir by Night. My friend was introduce this as this was new release. Yeah, why not. It is not threatening as it seems, In fact dark sandalwood so similar to YSL24. But dark smoky edge was just so right, you know what the caviar even not that salty. More like a yummy wood fragrance (but no this is not gourmand). It performs phenomenally across it life from yummy wood beginning. Dark Sandalwood with smoky effect. Yet, dry down into powdery sandalwood, no pickle enhance the smoothness with amber feel. This is so right. One takeaway from this is do not take anything seriously. You may discovery anything out of your comfort zone. :) This is end of quest of my sandalwood fragrance with incense edge. Thank you, my friend. ... As a fragrance collector, and a down right fragrance addict, we all long for something different. How many times are we going to see BR dupes done over and over again? Well now, we finally have something different, and beautiful. Enter ᑎOIᖇ ᗷY ᑎIGᕼT. The opening is a lovely, deep Frankincense which couples with a slight hint of incense. Not the heavy incense that you experience at mass, mind you. But something more soft, and subtle. Then, from the darkness, you get a sense of Seasnax. That's right- seaweed. But, please don't be frightened; it's actually really cool and it only lurks in the background. Nothing strong. It is not the protagonist. The final overtures that develop (after your seaside stroll has been completed) is a lovely, earthy, creamy and divine Biblical sandalwood that seems to meet up with its old friend we saw in the prelude, Frankincense. This is a sexy, ominous scent, which I am going to happily buy for myself in the full 100ml (perfume houses: please start offering 50 and 30ml). This is not a safe blind buy. If you dance to the beat of a different drum, this might be for you. It was for me, and I am in love.

My favourite from Atelier des ors. I first tried it in the springtime. Summer passed, but it grew and grew on me so much that I bought a full bottle yesterday. There are many wood notes in this composition. But they so well blended together. It’s very warm and creamy. Lots of wood indeed but totally unisex. I personnaly do not smell salty or sea notes. It looks black, it’s called noir, but it’s nowhere as dark or strong as the name might let you imagine. This is well balanced, elegant, and suitable for many occasions. Sillage is not overwhelming and longevity is very good. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a subtle powdery woody scent, like the now defunct vintage Carbone from Balmain. Atelier des ors gets sometimes criticism for making over the top bottles but I can assure you that it’s not only about the heavy stoppers and the gold flakes. I might write very positive reviews as well for Musc Immortel and Iris Fauve. So please discover their collection, you might be pleasantly surprised.

This one was mine and my husband favorite from the night kit. This is the type of fragrance that either attracts or repels depending on what type of person or people you are around. Very smoky, savory, animalic. It smells like the natural body odor of someone extremely sexy and highly attractive. Like their own pheromones. A very excellent creamy, salty, smoky, ocean like sandalwood with some savory delicious accents. FB worthy. Unique without being to weird or off putting at least for people who understand good perfumes and don't always want to smell like everyone else. This is the type of fragrance I expect from a niche brand. Unisex.

This is a MASTERPIECE!!! I'm a very big fan of perfumery that fits multiple occasions and can derive different reactions while simultaneously being rare and this is it. This perfume is perfectly unisex yet serves two different purposes on women i can smell this on a businesswoman at a gala but she's the one hosting while on a man and my skin this can be date night, suit and tie and also any semi formal occasion its cashmere wood smooth yet has a level of deepness not so much airy so for me isn't a easy reach as in comparison to others in my collection but lasts forever, projects well and overall a safe blind buy. 8/10

Love the saltiness and coriander that comes off in the beginning. It has a marine freshness after a few hours, I wouldn’t say animalic at all but to be clear all fragrances read sweeter on my skin so maybe that’s impacting it. Weirdly, I smelled a shirt I sprayed with it days prior and it smelled so strongly of watermelon candy which isn’t a note I’ve perceived at anywhere else. Very specifically watermelon jolly ranchers. Other reviews have called this generic but I don’t think so at all, I think it’s really beautiful and sophisticated. Just a little thrown off by that watermelon.

Just received my bottle and wow!! The initial wearing made me think of, in the best way possible, draping a crisp white shirt of a gentleman who wore Bois Sikar to a lavish party, over your naked body at the end of night. The remains of fragrance mixed with traces of the scent of his own skin; a spilled drink - something aromatic, like gin; all absorbed into the fabric, seductively caressing your senses.... It's a lot more masculine than I've anticipated, but I absolutely adore it!! If you’re a fan of Riviera Lazuli and/or Bois Sikar, this is an absolute must!!

When I read that caviar was a note, i felt dubious at best. However, this brand has never let me down before (though there have been a couple that I wasn't "taken by", i haven't hated anything I have smelled of theirs)... so I decided to try a sample of this. Lo and behold, it was magical, and even better than Pink Me Up, which i thought i would prefer. It is deliciously dark and decadent, and the drydown is divine.

for me I get a very salty scent in the first 10 minutes, after its dried down it smells like a rich french man on a night out. on my skin I feel like I need to overspray for it to get noticable. its perfect for nights out, date nights or just as a daily. it doesnt become too strong like some other fragrances but more intimate. very unkown fragrance atleast in norway so you will stand out in a good way

This is dark and warm. The caviar note is strongest in the beginning, and it reads as salty/savoury/inky. It’s very interesting, although not for everyone I suspect. Mainly I get an incensey sandalwood with just a touch of smoke and aromatic freshness (I assume from the maté and coriander). It’s not really like Santal 33, but the dry down and sillage are similar imo. This would be dead sexy on a man!

If we ignore the marketing and positioning of this perfume and evaluate only its smell, then, for me, this is a reimagined Gothic version of Baccarat. Yes, it can be compared with Santal 33, but there are no pickled cucumbers here (which, by the way, I really love), and in general the scent smells more expensive, not necessarily better, just more lavish.

A beautiful woody, oriental/spicy (cardamom) incense with a slight salty and smoky hint of guaiac wood. If you like L'Air du Desert Marocain and Messe de Minuit, you will probably love this. This has the same balsamic, introspective vibe. I smell a lactonic palo santo or maybe massoia as well. Perfectly unisex and fish is nowhere here.

I hate woody perfumes, but I really love Atelier des Ors, sooo... I decided to give this scent a chance. Wow, it was one of the best fragrance decisions I’ve ever made. This scent is ultimately unique and original. It’s unisex, but mostly for men, however I’m pretty sure that many women will love it at least as much as me :)

This one smells great. The opening is warm spicy, hint of smoke for me. When it fades, smell of caviar rise up blended well with wood, especially sandalwood. The sillage is moderate, longevity is good 6+. However, I dont understand why nobody talks about that this perfume is much alike BDK gris charnel

This does smell like caviar, in a very good way! I was very skeptical of it but this is actually a very pleasant marine salty woody scent! The gold flakes are also cute! Smells very expensive but not too fancy, either. Smells like smooth mild wood on the dry down.

Very elegant and sophisticated. Extremely unique. Dark and luxurious. But you gotta be close to get the best of this on someone. It’s very intimate. Absolutely love it.

The hate on this is a bit overstated. I was expecting something daunting by how some reviews write this fragrance, thankfully it's much more approachable than expected. Really unique salty sandalwood; the saltiness is rather akin to fish roe- or more tastefully the ocean breeze. Does not make itself known in a loud fashion whatsoever. With your eyes closed, spraying the bottle I do not think you would feel this is a very DARK fragrance, though. Definitely a quality mixture here, if you enjoy sandalwood or even fragrances with some kind of salty ocean vibe- perhaps consider a sample. The two samples ive tried from this house honestly makes me want to get a discovery set with the two I liked and a couple more to try- do not let the gold flakes fool you into making you assume this house is all show and no substance.

Fresh-aromatic open. As it dries, I get orris-like animalics, blended with woods and spices. Spices do give me amber vibes - they're fairly strong and lean warm. Incense isn't noticeable, it's barely there even after a couple hours. I'm more used to orris-like animalic, but the cashmere here gives a very similar vibe - this is what I call "soft animalic" (it's nothing like civet or castoreum). Accords are a tad misleading - this isn't "mainly" a woody fragrance, it's far more-so a soft-animalic amber fragrance. Spring-fall & masculine; this is not unisex to my nose because it's just not a profile you'd ever see a woman wear. Value wise it's great if you like this profile. I'm just left wishing for more from a scent titled "Noir by Night". I don't get much from this to suggest it's a great night-time wear.

No fish or Caviar here at all, whoever says this smells like fish has not smelled it. The Caviar is supposed to give a feel of texture rather than smell, and it kinda does. This is a very woody, but not as dark as the notes might make you think, it kinda reminds me a bit of Ex Nihilo's Chandigarh Express to an extent. it's very nice, but doesnt feel like it's new, almost like its been done before. Like all other AdO's fragrances, it smells very high quality. I got a 15ml bottle for a very cheap price, but I'd never buy a FB even if discounted, I'd rather grab another bottle of Lune Feline (which I absolutely adore) or maybe Rouge Saray or Rose Omeyyade. Well worth a try, as it's very nice, just I seem to have a lot of 'that smell' in my collection :)

Sometimes it's fun, sometimes just annoying - some people here tend to write such nonsense about fragrances. This is really elegant, deep, salty, smooth aquatic woody fragrance. No pussy, no bodily fluids, that's just someones imagination or licentia poetica gone rogue. It's a fragrance with good manners, just enough sillage and longevity. I mostly get salty, marine aura an woody tones, incense is not detectable in a smothering of dense kind of way. There's no need to overspray. Bottle is just gorgeous, feels so good in hand and if you love wood and salty perfumes, do not be afraid - you won't smell like any part of a human body. For me, more of a night time perfume, or for colder days and months. Also, better for serious and formal occasions.

Smells VERY similar to Van Cleef & Arpels' Santal Blanc, which actually disappointed me, since I love Santal Blanc but was expecting something entirely different based on the notes listed. However, the similarity lasts only for about 15 minutes, and then this becomes a very sultry experience of suede, incense (fairly light one, I might add) and sea salt. Normally that marine/sea salt accord is something I avoid, but here it's so soft and balanced against those warmer woody notes, that I actually quite enjoy it in this fragrance. Will have to see how the atomizer performs with these gold flakes, but it's definitely something I am excited to wear for summer evenings.

Sexy, sensual, and dark sandalwood. I get Santal 33 vibes for sure and yet, it’s nowhere to be found. I can see why Meander is a chosen comparison as it’s a cousin of Santal 33 (perhaps twice removed). This lands somewhere in the middle. If you thought Santall 33 was too spicy and Meander too mild and dry, this lands right in the middle. Easily unisex, without leaning in either direction. As a sandalwood lover, I absolutely love it. I actually wish I got more of the incense and caviar but I can’t detect it. It’s a masterfully blended creation. I can sense the tiniest sweetness peaking through. I’m sold! Not to mention the bottle is GORGEOUS.

Slightly basic oriental woody scent I wouldn’t go quite as far to say it’s a Santal 33 clone but whatever very coriander heavy, the caviar, while I don’t have some right next to me rn to truly test, isn’t very realistic and is a fantasy salty and slightly sweet note not bad but a slight bit underwhelming

I don’t know how people here smell fish or caviar... it’s wonderful & All I can get it is salty balsamic sandalwood as simple as that , great stuff for night all season the performance is just ok ...night’s joker

This mostly smells like cardamom and acrid watermelon. What I like is that the savory/salt/ acrid watermelon isn’t screechy like in the comparable Abercrombie and in the white Lacoste fragrances. Does smell like Santal 33 because like__ cardamom. I’m not getting the dark and warm nuances ppl below are getting. I do detect the animalic/naturey category of it, though! I’m getting fresh ultramarine with sharp woods/greens from the two notes I just mentioned. Well, I mean like if I overanalyze the scent, it also reminds me of curtido. It’s not fishy, creamy or green enough to smell exactly like seaweed, ceviche, or ambergris in a bottle (altho it almost goes there, but not quite). It’s kinda what I wanted the seaweed in Maison Margiela Sailing Day to develop like (that one turns super screechy and a BO kind of green seaweed on my skin especially with how active I am).

Not bad scent at all but there is a plenty of same kind of scents already. Unfortunately I get Baccarat vibe and I hate when everything is compared to that. Quality is not bad but unique dimensions are missing. And like Pink Me Up champagne-note, this perfumes caviar-note is just there because of commercial purposes. Performance and longevity is good. (This sample I got randomly, I didn't choose this.) After 1,5 year: Feels earthy with tea like aroma from Mate and saltyness from Caviar note. Nothing animalic in this. Smooth enjoyable dry down, unisex. I will edit and write an in depth review soon. I bought a bottle of this one and Pink Me Up. Thank you for reading, I hope my review was helpful. On paper this is beautiful, dark, smoky and intriguing. However, it falls flat on my skin. The first couple hours are incense-heavy, which is nice, I love incense, but it's nothing breathtaking (on my skin at least). And, alas, after a while (I don't remember exactly, after two-three hours maybe) it develops a BR540-like vibe... I just couldn't believe it when I detected it. I was like, oh, no, why, why why this DNA has to be everywhere? Don't get me wrong, I love Baccarat rouge 540, I think it's a masterpiece but I'm so sad that it's copied to death and that we can encounter its DNA that often... So overall Noir by night is a disappointment for me. Oh and it's quite faint as well. And I had the same issue with other AdO fragrances, they die down very quickly. The high price point is for the bottles and not the juice and it's quite sad IMO.

I had high hopes for that, here are my quick thoughts: there is nothing to do with Bois Sikar or Riviera lazuli (ok, maybe a little, for me it has a little with marine type of style). Anyways.. as Divinest wrote: start- aromatic spicy then blends into kind of woody scent. On my skin i get the caviar/coriander/sandalwood but no incencse, despite what he said in interview with Sebastian Jara on YT. I do not know how about longevity but I would like to describe it as a soft scent, not worth the price. There are better that this one. One is to admit, that prentation of bottle is beautiful!

The saltiness of the caviar note is what stands out to me which is unfortunate because in my opinion saltiness in a fragrance makes me think of a room spray more than a personal fragrance. Slightly cloying on my skin but it could also just be because I’m not too fond of the scent.

I never write reviews for fragrances I do not care for but for the sake of making a point I feel compelled to speak up. I often times find the “reminds me of” section to be quite suspect but the comparisons to Fierce and Foconero (which I own) are so wildly inaccurate it’s mind boggling. Also for the people that commented on Baccarat vibes, SMH, please stop. I have a lot of respect for perfumery so I’m very apprehensive to leave negative reviews but this one was a scrubber for me. I’ve eaten caviar once in my life so I can’t tell you how accurate that note is here, but I can say that it does smell animalic, peculiar, and plasticky. However, I will give it one positive, it is quite unique. If you enjoy this, please continue doing so, make my opinion irrelevant and don’t be swayed. For the people that smell a citrus sporty scent, you need to get your nose checked .

So pretty and with such a nice opening 🥰, but ... the woodsy base, lingering after the final drydown on skin and fabric - this smells revolting (rancid and animalic). Like an old chest full of unwashed elderly male clothes. Not very sexy smell to come back to on your washed linens if you had happened to wear the perfume in bed. I had such high hopes for this one.

This smells exactly like Abercrombie Fierce and Montblanc Legend. It smells like it would be super original even though it's totally unoriginal, if that makes sense. There's this thick/cloying/candylike/umami/edible/salty element in it that really bothers me. This fragrance annoys me. I'd like it a lot more if it were not a clone of Montblanc Legend. Edit: I sprayed this on a shirt (that I haven't washed yet) several days ago and now the shirt smells divine. Cozy, soft, clean, musky, woody, fuzzy, rich, warm. Much prefer this to how it smelled that day. In other words...I definitely recommend spraying this heavily on clothes a few days before you plan on wearing them. Holy crap. Smells like a clean, cozy, warm, expensive lodge/hotel. Kinda like hotel cleaning products and/or the chlorine pool but in the best way.

man this is actually a really nice fragrance. i've never tried caviar but all i've ever imagined it to taste like is a creamy version of ocean water. this fragrance might change that, though, as it does smell salty in the first 10 minutes but it's not an animalic or pungent saltiness. it is quite pleasant. the drydown, i will admit, is quite generic, but it still smells fantastic. i do see the santal33 comparisons but i'd say this is better and without the slight cucumber note in santal 33. overall it's like a 8.67/10. really nice!

Hmm.... As far as looks go this is one of the sexiest bottles I've ever seen. That purple gradient, the way it feels, that heavy cap. Even the gold flakes aren't gaudy. As far as scent goes, this smells like something diptyque would release. It's not dark nor sexy, although the notes are pretty high quality (you can tell), but it just smells like an ambiguously fruity prickly pear perfume with lukewarm performance. Sorry Noir By Night, I tried to love you. I really did. But I don't. And I can't.

Just got this perfume, it’s dark, very sexy, but to me too masculine. Still a very nice scent, in the beginning incense is very prominent, and I quite can’t figure out the dry down, but it’s definitely something I smelled before, just can’t figure out what, possibly something from John Varvatos? And I definitely don’t smell fish or anything like that some people are claiming to smell, not even close. I can’t imagine as a woman to be wearing this daytime, maybe on a night out.

Smokey, sweet, and peppery dry down is giving Santal 33 vibes for sure.... Without the florals .. caviar note makes this slightly dirty; and the sandalwood is round I assume from the cashmeran. Overall not a bad blend at all and the maté absolute is beautiful. Not a mind boggling scent, but not bad either. If you like Santal 33 you will love this ❤️

This is a lovely mellow, balsamic fragrance that has a smooth savoury-spice foundation. It kind of reminds me of sun-warm wooden church pews. Musamam Intense White is similar enough in the dry down to be a reasonable placeholder. Projection is moderate-high, sillage is moderate-low. Longevity about 6h.

Hmm.. marketed as unisex yet the perfumer states clearly she was working for a masculine vibe.. the bottle is black.. the other bottle in the Les Frivolities collection is pink n fruity floral.. but also for both sexes.. basically we're just fashionably obfuscating now then :/

Just got it in the post. Nice bottle but I sprayed it on and can't really detect it after a few minutes. Not sure if it's anosmia or just bad performance. Weird. After more wear I really like it. Performs well it's just not a screamer.

This smells like V&A Santal Blanc in the opening and mid, then dries down to smell like FDB Santal Complet, imo. Not a bad fragrance if you like those 2 scents and don't already own them...but not a good investment if you do.

Something extremely original. Never smelled something like this before. The scent itself is hard to describe. There's nothing unpleasant, but nothing pleasant too. Purely sophisticated, and very niche.
