Novae Vanilla

I got my sample 2 weeks ago, I know there’s a lot of hate for VP but I adore it and want to own as well. I haven't decided which one since I got the extrait sample after the OG, so I am unsure of which one Ill end up with but the accord that bothers many in VP (the original at least), I have no issues with, nor do I find that or this to be a powdery frag (which is a good thing). My associations with powder(y) are in a different way; Iris, a fancy soap thats gone bland found in an old persons home, and actual things relevant to baby powder minus the baby powder scent, but thats just me. Before I sprayed this I opened the cap and was worried that it might be redundant to buy both as it def had a similar whiff. The next day I tried it on and when I opened the cap again it was sweeter after smelling VP, and was relieved. While the opening had a bit if VP similarity, there was some similarity in the opening, its not nearly enough to say this is identical or if you have one of the VP, don’t buy this. I’d say it’s about 30% similar, and tested this on one arm and the OG VP on the other. It goes on smooth and it’s a gorgeous vanilla. The mimosa is there and gives an ever so floral note, but its more in the background, and the vanilla later leans towards a boozy sweet vanilla, and by the 6th+ hr it’s reminiscent of Vanilla Essence which I love and want but find it’s projection to be way too weak. I haven’t tried Lune Feline or any others by this brand but was impressed. In a world full of vanillas, which I’m currently exploring, this was a definite must for me. I disagree strongly that it smells basic, or has any resemblance to TF vanilla sex, as I like that frag as well but haven’t bought it yet cause that I feel to be a very overpriced vanilla w absolute no depth, (still I want it), but it’s nothing like some other vanillas out there. VS contrary to its name, is closer to "IM VANILLA," no intrigue, no seduction, nothing beyond. I got this for a good price during the BF sales and I am excited to own it. It changes throughout the wear which i enjoyed, and I love the pretty bottle. Though I don’t think I’ve found any perfume with the longevity of VP, anyone that likes a non sickly sweet gourmand vanilla but also not green, this has the perfect amount of sweetness, it’s got the booziness that’s reminiscent of SDV, with decent projection, and above average longevity. I don’t think there’s a vanilla I’ve seen in the reminds me section or any I’ve tried that remind me of this. If you’re a vanilla lover, def give this a shot. Very unique, versatile for all seasons, and overall a winner.

I don't understated all the negative reviews on this fragrance. In my opinion this is a pure, yet ethereal Vanilla Bean forward scent. The vanilla in this is not a sticky sweet gourmand vanilla, which I love because I'm really not into overly sweet gourmand vanillas. I don’t get the comparisons to Vanilla Powder or Bianco Latte, which I owned and decluttered, unfortunately they both weren’t for me. I really don’t get much of the mineral notes, maybe a little in the opening. I think the Mimosa note in this adds a beautiful golden touch. Novae Vanilla has a very simple note break down, but I would not say this is basic. The longer it sits on skin the better this fragrance gets, you must try on skin because that is where it really develops. The different types of vanillas start to turn into a more rich, deep, sweet, yet airy vanilla. The golden woody amber in the base really grounds this fragrance. A beautiful vanilla that can be worn all year round and has really good longevity. I love this💕

I’ve never been a fan of this brand , nothing ever hooked me enough to buy a full bottle. But this one... it stole my heart from the very first spray 😍 This is an incredibly tender, airy, almost ethereal vanilla. It’s not gourmand, not heavy, not caramel-bakery at all, it’s slightly creamy with a delicate floral touch. For some reason it instantly reminds me of the flesh of a ripe banana with those white stringy bits, exactly that kind of soft, gently sweet, creamy feeling. I do pick up the mineral notes, but very subtly, somewhere in the background; they add a “sun-kissed” vibe and prevent the fragrance from sliding into pure dessert territory. The sillage is soft and refined. Pure pleasure and the feeling of luxurious vacation in a bottle. Finally Atelier des Ors has won me over, for me this is a solid 10/10! 👏🏻

Rich vanilla — very intense. It is almost like a vintage vanilla fragrance. Vanilla pods, tinctured with a lot of Madagascar/Bourbon absolute. To me it is quite floral as well (very intense) and I would say that it has a mineral aspect which translates into a tad of salt. I love it and it’s nuclear what a powerful presence it has. I am completely in awe 🥰 it lasts all day! Amazing work 🤩 People saying that it smells like Vanilla Powder should get an appointment for getting their nostrils deeply checked— the sooner the better 🆘 get some help. I see more resemblance to Palo Santo by Carner than to VP.

I love vanilla fragrances. This does not disappoint. It’s warm, sweet and a bit dusty. Novae Vanilla is a well balanced vanilla that is very unique and still being easy to wear. The warmth lends it to be a great scent for the evening, but I will wear it during the day as well. For Lune Filene lovers, this isn’t a similar scent. It has some similar vibes to Vanilla Powder because of the dusty element but it is not scratchy. Please come to this fragrance with a new expectation. Overall, it’s my first blind buy and I am super pleased.

What a wonderful vanilla! Not too sweet, but still delicious, it has a dry, slightly smoky feel to it. I would say it has a chalky character to it. It's definitely very vanilla and quite different to the many vanillas I have in my collection. A blind buy and I don't regret it at all. Very happy. **Edit** - I've had this for a couple of weeks now and the scent appears to have deepened and it has more longevity now. I'm making a serious dent in it!

I was worried this would lean too ambery, but it’s actually a fluffy, soft vanilla that feels comforting and calm. It reminds me of warm beach sand if it smelled like vanilla. The sweetness is mild but it fits the fragrance perfectly. Beautiful, smooth, and no scary mineral or salty notes getting in the way of the vanilla itself.

This was an IMMEDIATE love for me on the skin. So much so I told my husband that was what I wanted for Valentine's day! It is stunning on my skin. A true delectable and luxurious Vanilla. It is NOTHING like either Vanilla powder ( I own both of them) . This is in a league of its own. I will forever want this in my collection.

Trying to understand the lack of love this gets! Such a beautiful vanilla. It is reminiscent of Vanilla Powder- trying to decide if I need both in my collection. This one has mineral/salty quality that VP lacks but that seems to be lost in the dry down. Wish the mimosa was stronger. Love it tho!

This is what the public expected from vanilla powder. Masterpiece. The only thing I liked about vanilla powder was its drydown, which is extremely similar to novae vanilla’s drydown. My new favorite fragrance.

A bit dry, metallic, and dusty at first spray, but dries down to the most beautiful, fluffy vanilla. Warm and comforting. Reminds me of Lune Feline, without the cardamom. Lasts all day.

To me it starts like a freshly cooked buckwheat. With milk and honey. Later it dries down and grows up a bit - to a bourbon vanilla, musk with mineral notes.

Stunning fragrance. To my nose similar vibe with Vanille Antique by Byredo but NV is less woody, more round. Long lasting with attractive trail. Love ❤️

The fact this is a 3.5 baffles me. What the heck yall this stuff is good

Either my nose is broken or the noses of some people here because I am a huge vanilla lover and this scent has nothing to do with Vanilla Powder, Bianco Latte (it is not coconuty, it is not gourmand at all). It even has very little to do with woody vanillas like Eau Duelle and Silky Woods where we have a more balsamic and floral feel throughout. It is not as airy as Vanilla Skin, nor as boozy as SDV, nor as spicy as Babycat, nor green as Angelique Noir. After all that, I want to say it has a very interesting mimosa and vanilla opening. A lot of vanilla but not in a strong and off putting way but in a kind of a gold, subdued, vanilla bean elegant way. Then it had a moment I was a bit nose blind to it due to my allergies but 8 hours later I get a grounded wood with a tad of sweetness. It is a woody vanilla but the journey to this stage is very nice. The metallic note was somewhere in the middle and not too prominent on my skin. I like the perfume and don’t get the hate. Edit: After owning a full bottle and being able to wear it more I get a very strange association with Novae Vanilla from ADO. NV is a bit pungent while this one is smokier and woodier but I definitely find similarities!

The bottle for Atelier Novea Vanilla is absolutely stunning — a true display piece. The color of the fragrance itself is rich and inviting, and the delicate gold flecks ✨ give it a magical, luxurious touch. On first spray, I immediately notice a mineral facet that feels clean and modern. As it develops, the scent transitions beautifully — first a mineral vanilla, then a soft mimosa vanilla, and finally settling into a warm, woody vanilla that lingers gracefully on the skin. It’s been almost 12 hours since I applied it, and I can still smell it clearly. Novea Vanilla is not just beautiful, it’s a true long-lasting fragrance that evolves elegantly throughout the day. The vanilla in this fragrance isn’t overly sweet. It has a light, airy quality.

If you don't love vanilla fragrances, this one will convert you. If you thought vanilla fragrances are too heavy for summer, this one will change your mind. If you thought vanilla fragrances are always too sweet, this one will prove you wrong. This one = Novae Vanilla. It is airy yet creamy, luminous, warm, intimate, and addictive. I can’t stop sniffing my wrist! Wish the longevity was a bit better though - after 3 hours, I can barely smell it. However, a friend told me to let it macerate for a couple of months to improve longevity so that’s what I’m going to try.

I was too quick to judge this scent. When I first tested it, like many others, I found the Ambroxan too overpowering. I did really enjoy the scent bubble though. From arms length this gave the most gorgeous, warm and comforting, deep amber vanilla scent. I commented that it was a scent I’d enjoy smelling on others. Fast forward to now and I’m still thinking of this scent. I’ve retested it and now want a bottle. I can still smell the ambroxan, but instead of feeling choked by it I’m actually finding it quite addictive. Now I want a full bottle.

It’s quite lovely: very dry and balsamic vanilla with a dark woody base. It’s not too sweet and on my skin it feels a bit animalic and somewhat herbaceous (think medicinal herbs and balms). I can almost feel some saltiness similar to what you can find in ambergris based fragrances. UPD: the dry down is quite synthetic tho... lots of amberwood.. My ig: scent.guide

The vanilla in this is gorgeous, so natural smelling and fluffy. But the amberwood makes it unbearable for me. I could smell the mimosa only on paper, on my skin there is only vanilla and amberwood, and it becomes synthetic.

i love the opening, smells like a vanilla milk powder i used to drink when i was a small boy. sadly the drydown smells like tonka bean used in pdm althair and armani code . i wish it stays linear

simple salty vanilla, it's good and all just not unique or special. wish the smell matched the aesthetic of the bottle because it is beyond goergeous

Rich waxy dark vanilla. Has a gross salty opening. Overall I enjoyed this. Not as much as Lune Feline though. 7.8/10

Both iterations of Vanilla Powder were deeply upsetting for my nose, but this didn't offend me. I could see how people would find them similar, but Novae Vanilla lacks that super sharp, scratchy note that makes VP so heinous for me. Even so (and despite being a lover of all things airy vanilla), I'm not sold on this. I agree with others saying this is a 'cool toned' vanilla - it's light and sterile in a way that most vanilla scents aren't. The mineral notes are very prevalent. There's a hint of coconut in here for me, which I'm never a huge fan of, but I could be misinterpreting. I'll see if I finish my sample, but I'm not very optimistic. As much as I want to love something from this house and finally have one of their pretty bottles in my collection, I think I'll have to keep waiting.

This fragrance leans toward a musty, slightly dry vanilla, and it’s very vanilla-forward. If you’re a true vanilla lover, you’ll likely enjoy it. That said, it falls into the same family as scents like Diptyque or Eau Duelle (which I find beautiful and I own a full bottle), but doesn’t feel particularly unique. I do like it, but since I already own some truly beautiful vanillas, I wouldn’t purchase this one unless it were offered at a steep discount in the future. I don't see the similarity to Vanilla Powder, which I found pungent, due to that weird coconut oil smell, I have not tried the extrait version of Vanilla Powder.

Very similar to Vanilla Powder, this is one of the only vanilla profiles I don't like in the slightest. Interestingly enough, I have not come across a single vanilla lover who likes this, but everyone who doesn't usually go for vanilla fragrances loves it. Make of that what you will.

for me this isn’t a hate or a love. musky, a bit animalic, woody vanilla. it’s definitely not bad but i’m not sure if i’d wear it over other vanillas

Maybe my nose is playing tricks on me, but I’m getting something in this that reminds me of PDM Pegasus.

Novae is something I have smelled a hundred times before, and so have you walking into Sephora or Ulta. And honestly, that’s part of the problem. I imagine it is probably very difficult for perfumers to create something new in the vanilla genre, but still....some houses have managed it. Guerlain’s Spiritueuse Doble Vanille, Planifolia, and Indult’s Toyota all sit at the top of the vanilla pyramid for a reason. Every time I smell a new vanilla, I have high hopes that it’ll wow me- that I will get some sort of new dopamine lift that is transcendent. Sadly, this one did not do that at all. I do appreciate this house; they have produced some truly beautiful fragrances like Lune Feline and the Extrait version. Both are exceptional. But I am sorry- Novae falls short. There is nothing here that stirs nor seduces. In fact, there is something- I don’t know what but there is a note in this fragrance that reminds me of a rum hangover. Ugh. Aesthetically, the bottle is lovely. The little gold flakes are charming, a nostalgic nod to Goldschlager from the ‘90s, But that is where it ends. Novae is not worth the high price tag, Rating 5/10 Verdict: pretty to look at but dull (even headache inducing) to wear. The gold flakes outshine the fragrance.

I got a sample and I really didn’t like it, especially when I consider the price. I know the gold, bottle and ingredients are high quality and all but the perfume is too linear and simple for me. I am not a vanilla perfume lover. I tend to like vanilla and caramel combinations more , but I appreciate and can detect a good vanilla scents. Unfortunately this one is not for me. It has a musty weird funky after smell. I can’t describe it. It starts good like a classic vanilla but then the smell changes to something that’s repulsive to me (maybe it’s just not a match for my skin). I think that there are better more creative vanilla scents on the market. I would recommend it only to people who are collecting or are a really big fan of the brand, or vanilla collectors.

Quite disappointed with this one. I had expected something superb of the same calibre as Lune Feline. Something warmer, exiting, deep realistic vanillic with a touch of honey sweet mimosa perhaps. Instead, it is a cloyingly sweet vanilla in its most basic, dull, boring, lifeless and uninspired form. Slightly powdery and musky but one dimensional and reminds of Allende by Xerjoff and TF Vanilla Sex and it's almost 'milky', pale, white-vanilla. There's also an offputting hint of woodiness that feels almost out of place, poorly contrasted. So relieved I didn't blind buy this. The bottle is gorgeous as ever and the idea of a 'pure' vanilla from the house that created Lune Feline? Well.. that sounded like a dream. 2/10.

Why oh why didn’t I read the notes or especially the reviews on this before I bought a sample? * slaps self hard* Because I’m a fan of the brand and in particular love Musc Immortel, Rouge Saray, Villa Primerose and Iris Fauve. But this? This is an Amberwood bomb. Which I found out too late after spraying myself over indulgently. So now I either have to take a very long hot shower and wash these clothes several times, or live with this for days. It’s like they got away with using a little Amber Wood in Villa Primerose so in here they just dumped it in. If you are sensitive, beware.

If the mineral note didn’t punch you in the gut upon first spray, this could’ve been nice. Though that mimosa note also has to take a hike. Shame, if this was just vanilla and amberwood, this could’ve been such a nice hotel lobby vanilla. This just reminds me of my grandmother every night before bed when she’d slather herself in Vaseline and mineral creams-love her but not what I’m going for :/

The difference between the decant and the full bottle was shocking. I absolutely loved the decant so purchased a full bottle as my Christmas gift. All I was able to smell from the full bottle was sharp ambroxan, so much so that I cannot wear it. Sadly I’ll loose money trying to return it. And such a pretty bottle to display as well. Bummer ....

This smells so artificial to me. Very strong note of that overpowering kind of woods/ambroxan. It doesn't smell like vanilla to me at all in the drydown. If you want a good vanilla, stick with Tihota (or even Delizia di Marshmallow).

A cool marine oceanic, musky , dry vanilla. As this dries down getting more metallic, synthetic note. The dry down is too synthetic and screechy edges throughout, not like the opening. It’s a no for me.

I sure wish that I could smell even a whisp of vanilla. This was a huge disappointment, as I can only get a strong musky and amber heavy scent.

This is just vanilla powder - but a weaker, less interesting version, without the depth.

Gasoline sharpies and vanilla extract

Vanilla is so hard to hate for me. But this is just awful. AW-FUL. I have a similar take on Matiere Premiere Vanilla Powder... and the extrait is even worse. Maybe it's just my nose? I cannot stand the harsh, screechy, synthetic, burn-my-nose thing this is going for. I don't get it. Why ruin a good vanilla by trying to suffocate me with it? It's also got some kind of animalic thing happening - possibly just the amberwood? But it honestly smells like a horse stable full of vanilla and alcohol just blew up in my face. I could NOT scrub it off. That was yesterday. I scrubbed 3x last night and showered this morning and it's 6pm...30 hours later... and I can still smell it on my skin. My sweater is permanently scarred. Or maybe it's just still inside my nose. Plus the gold flakes were sticky on my skin and also clogged the atomizer of my travel spray. So when I had to squeeze it so hard to get a single spray, I nearly broke the glass and then it just oozed out all over my arm and hand. Needless to say, this is hard pass.

The core of this scent has a wonderful sugared vanilla, seems Bourbon Vanilla. The mimosa adds an interesting undertone. Unfortunately on my skin the amberwood becomes super screechy, combined with the "mineral accord" it assaults my sinuses. Why are the perfume houses using this horrendous aromachemicals? if they are not bombarding us with nasty ambroxan then they choose this amberwood crap of synthetic mess to fill an otherwise "okay" scent to the point it smells like another "niche" scent that is too expensive and too toxic to enjoy. Get vanilla of Tahite by Perris Montecarlo or Guerlain Vanilla Planifolia if you want a truly spectacular vanilla scent. This perfume unfortunately has a good vanilla note, but the synthetic crap they forced into the formula to make it more "niche" is just disgusting. If you have nostrils and sinuses of steel probably you will be ok with it. Sample it first. It might trigger a migraine and stuff your nose.

This is, I hate to say, just a generic vanilla? A hint of smokiness, super powdery and not very sweet. The performance is kinda weak. Easy to wear, yes, but the price? It doesn't remind me of Vanilla Powder. At least, It's not scratchy like VP to my nose. Update!! My nose got tired after smelling so many samples, so I tested it again. There’s actually underlying scratchness, which is nauseating! It turns sour on me. Not surprising because I hate scratchy musk and amberwwood! It does smell chemical!

Screechy Amberwood scrubber. Opens with a metallic mineral burst, fades into a beautiful bourbon vanilla extract then unfortunately finishes with a horrendous sour amberwood that is eternal on the skin. I can’t even smell the vanilla over the woody amber screams. For the record I am definitely not an Amber hater, I just can’t get on board with how it is done here.

This is not my jam at all. The sharp opening is very off putting. The metallic note does stick around which I think is making it unpleasant 🙁

This is a big No for me - very screechy, metallic like smell! It gives me a headache. Beautiful bottle but it’s a pass!

I waited so long for this, unfortunately it is a disappointment for me

I'm sooooo pleased my senses were working this week when considering blind buying this, it would have been a huge mistake. I wonder now when seeing a gorgeous luxurious elaborate bottle design, that it's a warning for its need to over compensate due to the contents being questionable. I love many from Atelier Des Ors, the quality speaks for itself, so i can only be incredibly disappointed that Novae Vanilla is a blend of sugary dark Vanilla and Cheap aroma chemicals. Amberwood is listed, but i really do smell far too much cashmeran. Someone below commented that they recognise the over use of a cough inducing Peppery aroma chemical and i totally agree and see it to. It's a baseline bed of sock fluff and glue that is in sooooo many fragrances, and high end ones at that. Don't even get me started on Rose Star from Dior! Obviously it's all subjective and those who aren't bothered about this type of material may love it and enjoy the fragrance, but for the price and brand promise of quality and excellence. . . This isn't it. It's lazy. It's unoriginal. It's cheap. . Proceed with caution if you are sensitive to cashmeran or synthetics that over power your senses. Atelier des Ors. . Not impressed.
