Rouge Sarây

For me, Rouge Saray is a sticky but moderately sweet, dates, plums, cinnamon, Peru Balsam, vanilla scent. This are the notes I detect mostly. Obviously, it’s more complex, but the rest of the notes are mostly sitting in the background. I am gonna be honest, it’s not quite I have expected. I wanted more plums and more sweetness. Rouge Saray is a strong, rich, very balsamic, fruity, warm spicy perfume. It’s fairly unique to my collection. I bought it for the plum note, it’s supposed to represent this delicious note in perfumery. I love plums in any way, shape and form! I see this voted as being most similar to Carlisle by PDM. I can see that, but this is more balsamic, powdery and less sweet than Carlisle. I think I prefer Carlisle over this, even though Carlisle is marketed for men. Packaging and bottles design for Atelier des Ors is absolutely stunning. I can’t decide if I love Xerjoff or Atelier des Ors better. But it’s a piece of art in itself! Performance wise, is long lasting scent, but doesn’t projects too far after the first hour of application. It doesn’t have the best value for money. If I were to choose between this and Carlisle, I’d still go with Carlisle. For me personally, Carlisle is the masterpiece of PDM! But since I own both, I love layering them. I get best of both worlds this way. The result is divine.

Really love this fragrance. At first I thought it might be too sweet from various YouTube reviews and also off the strip and on my wrist it seemed like a sticky desert, so I wasn't so convinced but on wearing it it just felt perfect and not too sweet. This is the only niche scent that reminds me of the original John Varvatos by John Varvatos, which also has a prominent date note at the heart and was my signature scent for 12 years before it was discontinued. It was actually trying to find alternatives to the John Varvatos that drove me into niche fragrances to begin with, and now I have 70+ niche scents. Great value for money considering it is about half the price per mL of most Kilian fragrances, a brand I love along with Xerjoff and Roja. Coming full circle in a way and glad I finally found something that brought me back to my fragrance roots. But the sweet patchouli dry down may remind some of Gold Knight or Carlisle, both great fragrances, but could be redundant in smaller collections if you have one or both of these.

I smelled it in the niche perfumery 2 weeks ago and it was a love at first sniff! Funnily enough, I follow @jusderose at YT - in fact, she introduced me to the House. And this one is the only one that she dislikes. The one she is crazy about is Lune Feline. For me, Rouge Saray was THE ONE. But honestly, as I have smelled almost all of AdO perfumes, there's not a one I dislike. Brilliant pieces, the boxing is very luxurious and I was shocked when I sprayed the perfume on my wrist - the particles of real gold landed there, too! That's why be careful not to apply it on your clothes! Fantastic, fantastic fragrance! In initial stages, it is like Kilian Black Phantom / Faviol Seferi Insomnia. Later, Xerjoff Bouquet Ideale mixed with Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac & Marigold and Tom Ford Vanille Tobacco. At the end : Memo Paris Lalibela / Chopard Cashmir. Crazy journey, right 😜😁???

This is such an underrated gem from Atelier des Ors. I've had a decant of this since last summer and finally got the full bottle. From the initial spray, I have loved it, and everyone who has smelled it on me has as well. It was summer when I first tried it and while I loved to wear it around in air conditioning, I saved most of my decant to try again in fall and winter. Since I only had a small decant, I kept waiting for the right occasion--a date night or some fancy event. But eventually, I started wearing it more during the day or for any reason and I am simply obsessed. I had to get the full bottle even though it's towards the end of winter (hopefully!). It's really beautiful and I think can suit almost any occasion. It's sweet without being girlish or cloying. It's lush and sensual without being animalic or rough. The scent profile is unique and blended so perfectly. I think it is truly unisex, though I have not smelled it on a man. Will be a staple in my collection!

What can I say, this is just an absolute masterpiece to me. Its like trying to explain your favourite song or movie or trying to tell someone about the best food you ever ate. I could go on forever. I want to make a public service announcement to spread the word on this delicious piece of art. This one just blew me away. It’s rich, decadent, edible, floral, unique and addictive. It’s definitely not an all rounder though, it’s very autumn/winter type vibes. Leans more towards night time but try and stop me wearing this during the day lol. The first spray reminds me of that same rich, smokey, sweet aroma of by the fireplace but then the dates kick straight in to elevate everything and the heliotrope starts to come through to balance all the syrupy sweetness. Then I go into a little trance for for a few minutes smelling my arms before snapping myself out of it. Lasts an impressive 6-7 hours on my skin. Thank you Marie Salamagne for this heavenly delight.

An absolutely gorgeous, warm, sweet, resinous, ambery composition. Intoxicating, rich and opulent. I've really started to dislike patchouli in fragrance but here it's inoffensive. It's exactly what I wanted SL Arabie to smell like when I bought it 10 years ago. The "reminds me of" are not the same. El Born, Wood Jasmine or Camel are not alike. Wood Jasmine is beautiful but it's VERY different. El Born is an average scent with average performance and the quality and longevity of Side Effect these days are abysmal. Santal Majuscule isn't as potent or complex and is a sandalwood, rose and cacao scent. If you like the Middle Eastern genre of perfume this is a safe blind buy. Marie Salamagne we are not worthy!! Love!!

#892 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I think Atelier des Ors is a great fragrance house. I've liked every one of their scents I've tried, especially Larmes du Desert. I like everything about this scent that I liked about Tom Ford "Plum Japonais" which is discontinued and in the hands of eBay scalpers wanting $750 a bottle. This has got that same rich, dark fruitiness without being cloyingly sweet, and the balsam gives it an almost incense-like touch that I love. I think it's dead center unisex, not feminine, and any guy can wear this. acceptable EDP potency (makes it to lunch). Completely inoffensive for car pool, elevator and small office wear. I think a good date scent also. Definitely a keeper.

The blending of sugary plums and dates with patchouli, vanilla, florals, cinnamon and balsams give this an accord of cacao, with a feel of boozy caramelized bananas; namely in the topnotes after a maceration period of at least one year. It is at once woody and exotic, yet luscious enough to induce a sweet craving. Can be enjoyed any time of year- but personally Rouge Sarây brings to mind late autumn on the cusp of winter vibes. I think of hot cocoa, leather boots, flannels, wool sweaters, falling leaves, bonfires, and a spread of warm spiced fruit pies. Simply a warm, comforting, cuddly scent which can be worn by literally anyone- man or woman, youth or mature. ✨🍁☕🍂🍌🌰🍫🪵🔥🤎

This is a beautiful thick sweet oriental gourmand. Honeyed dates, cinnamon with a smokey guaiac wood, vanilla base. Enveloping, elegant for a special occasion. It must be cold for me to wear it, otherwise it's so robust and sweet it would choke me out. Smells quite similar to Across Sands from Maison Margiela Replica (not a surprise, they both feature dates and smokey woods), but this is sweeter, stronger, more opulent, smells higher quality. Shows in the price of course. I don't pick up much of the chocolate note, but I do get where others come from, there is a slight underlying bitterness, which I associate with the woods in here. All in all, this is a stunner.

Rouge Sarây on my skin starts mainly a tasteful vanilla that is neither overly sweet nor overpowering. The character and development of the note combination are unique: Spices, fruit sweetness and balsamic incense, all making a wonderful coherent whole. During the dry down, my skin smells mostly like sandalwood with a tiny bit of vanilla and very little floral notes. However, the fruity notes—a sweet plum, dates, honey, cherry (?), with a hint of chocolate liquor—make up for it. There is something really gourmand in Rouge Sarây, but the sweetness is perfectly balanced. Sophisticated, oriental, unisex, elegant and refined.

To me this is a spicy and sweet plum-based perfume with a heavy Middle East influence. The plums are candied, realistic, with hints of spices and beautifully ripe. It's boozy, ambery, exotic and absolutely gorgeous. I agree with other reviewers that it reminds me of Tom Ford's darker vanilla-bases scents. I am keeping this decant and will use it a lot during the summers. Currently, for fruity scent, I prefer this and the Tom Ford Bitter Peach. I decided to get rid of Diptyque's Ilio, because it was way too light. TT's Draco scent (peach-based) is also my all time fruit favorited and I am looking for an affordable decant.

I am terrible at writing long stuff and describing things, so I will jut get to the point. Amongst the dozens of niche Perfumes I have, I have rarely gotten this WOW feeling right off the bat. This one, just sweet,seductive,loud,fruity,and gorgeous. Sillage: I recommend to use maximum 2 sprays. This thing goes nuclear. Longivity, I will try it few tes and come back and edit this, but, from tje initial impressions, this juice is gonna last a long time. This is definitely unisex. Age,really any age, I'd say 25 and up. Not for very mature.people though because it is fruity. Overall as of today, this is 8.5 put of 10

Rouge Sarây took me by surprise, a little vial in a sleek but rather unassuming discovery set. The plum and date notes mingled with the sandalwood and spice are absolutely intoxicating. It's long-lasting, beautifully structured, and feels positively decadent. It's the kind of fragrance that makes me want to roll around in it. Sumptuous as it is, it's also wonderfully wearable--I chalk that up to the friendliness of the jasmine--and can easily transition from day to night. It's sweet, but not cloying, and that's what makes it a masterpiece to me. One of my all-time favorites.

I've loved this one for a long time and I always considered this exclusively a fall/winter staple. Cozy, enveloping, fuzzy cashmere sweater. Similar veins to By the Fireplace. However, tonight proved me wrong. This is beyond words after a hot day, on a cooler night. Kept me warm even after the sun went down due to the sweetness, but the cinnamon, oh my... Spicy, almost peppery, tickles my nose, it's almost like the sun rays dancing through the leaves in the warm summer breeze. I love it on me, but this would be a panty dropper on a man. Love, love, love!

I disagree with the "smells like" comparisons above, but there is an obscure fragrance that smells almost exactly like this--Brecourt Farah. This one has a bit more complexity in the spices, and I actually think I like it a bit more than Farah (but only a bit), but they're too similar to justify getting a bottle of Rouge Saray when I already have Farah. If you love this but can't justify the price, check out Farah--it's been a while since I bought it but I believe it's a bit cheaper and comes in more affordable 50ml bottles.

Delicious balance between sweet and spicy. Eloquent and confident but not by volume, it stays pretty close to your skin, which I love because scent like this could easily gets too heady, loud and overwhelming. The soft and fluffy sillage makes it more elegant and truly addicting imo. I keep finding myself going back for a sniff on my shirt throughout the day. Texture: Resinous, Melted Fruit Jam Concoction. Makes me feel: Sophisticated, flirty. Perfect for: Intimate date, Nightwear.

This is really nice and rich fragrance, the dry down is so yum and cozy. But I just can't get out of my mind that this is Epic Amouge Woman+ Noir de Noir Tom Ford. I would also throw Orchid Leather Van Cleef&Arpels in the mix. Hence, I can't justify a full bottle of Rouge Saray, as nice as it is, especially not at this price. But if you love dark chocolate-y plum jam (not too sweet! ) with thick resinous undertones - go ahead! I am also getting a rose from it, so strange...

About the perfume. I blind bought it after many reviews on YouTube and Fragrantica. It's sublime: when you spray it, it's like opening a box of chocolates with cherries/plums/dates with cognac. The aroma is fruity, woody (reminiscent of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille), powdery and intoxicatingly boozy (cognac/rum as in Penhaligons Halfeti Cedar and not the practically absent cognac as in Kilian Angels’ Share). A 10+ oriental fragrance. Exceeded my expectations.

It opens with a bold sweet burst of sugary dates paired with rich, heavy oud. Initially, I found it quite intense when I tried it in the shop (thanks to a persuasive employee), after about half an hour, the scent on my wrist transformed completely. The dates mellowed into this incredibly creamy, refined aroma. It’s such a unique fragrance, and I instantly fell in love with it. Plus, it's long-lasting and absolutely perfect for colder weather.

One of the best smoke perfume for hot tropical climate. Cause usually incense in perfumery makes a scent sound dirty, while Rouge Saray remains soft and airy. I can smell peaches, wood, vanilla, smoke and may be amber. Sillage is very accurate even I when I do 5-6 sprays and it doesn’t suffocate nether me, no someone around. I think to buy a bottle or at least 10-20 ml decant if I won’t find if in affordable price.
