Poivre Pomelo

true perfumery! The last citrus I tried ( comparable to this ) was Summer of 84 by Kerosene and I couldn’t get into that fragrance. This somewhat reminds me of Summer of 84 due to the high quality grapefruit in the opening but Poivre Pomelo goes in a completely different direction. It starts out very juicy and tart but not too thick. Amazingly, that juicy tart grapefruit begins to blend w/the other notes but make no mistake, GRAPEFRUIT is still the leader here and it doesn’t go down without a fight lol. I am strongly considering a full bottle purchase even though (for some reason) I picture this working better on a sophisticated Wall Street woman. But the more it dries down, my feelings are changing and I say nah, I need this for me! This isn’t a rock star fragrance - this is delicate art - thiis is personal space - this is someone unconsciously getting closer and closer to you not realizing it’s b/c of your fragrance Excellent work! As a huge fan of grapefruit, this is a MASTERPIECE. Bottle ordered. Bottle received. This is my first niche fragrance that I feel like isn’t already popular.

I think I may have found the rice scent I've been looking for lol. It's cohesively bright and earthen in all its movements from the opening to the dry down. The brisk pomelo opening was expected but! There's a dusty, rough earthy scent by the middle, which I think comes from the pepper. Delicately sweet and herbal all around. There's an edge to it that reminds me of preparing dry grains of rice before soaking them for the rice cooker. Update after 3ish months and I got a 10mL of this and yeah someday I will full bottle this someday! Brisk I think is still the best word to describe it. The astringent spice of the timut pepper used here I think really rounds out the scent and lifts it up a lot! It really isn't a one-dimensional citrus scent. Spicy, fruity, earthy, with a bright peppery bite that doesn't bite back. The Hermes scent it's being compared to, I think that one only bears the citric facet of Poivre Pomelo, and rings more as grapefruit than pomelo.

After a few minutes the fragrance softens and develops a delicate sweetness, likely coming from the floral heart. The composition becomes rounder and smoother, yet it retains its freshness. The transition from the vivid opening to the calmer heart is seamless and pleasant. The base feels restrained and clean. Woody-green, slightly dry, but not heavy. Maté and vetiver provide longevity, while cedar adds structure. Everything is very well-balanced. Overall, this is a versatile and stylish fragrance with an interesting character. It’s especially well-suited for warm weather and for those looking for a citrus scent with an unconventional twist.

This is it– my new favorite unisex citrus perfume. This is like the brighter, peppery sister of Hermes' Eau de Pamplemousse Rose. The grapefruit and the pepper notes are perfectly blended and so complementary (sometimes too strong of a pepper note can give me a terrible headache). The last true citrus perfume I've really been wowed by is Atelier Cologne's Orange Sanguine, which initiated my quest for a beautiful grapefruit/pomelo scent. I don't think I am the only one who thinks that Atelier Cologne's Pomelo Paradis is very juicy and sweet but borders on juvenile. I think Poivre Pomelo is what you are looking for!

Absolutely stunning. The pepper and the citrus are so punchy in the opening. Lots of people on here talking about this disappearing real fast, but I do believe it's more of the wearer going nose blind. I sprayed it on the blotter and came back to sniffing it many hours later, and could clearly smell the perfume even though I thought it had disappeared on my skin. Obviously not as fresh as the opening as the top notes had diffused, but the woodier, warmer base with the osmanthus was still very much there.

It's been about a year or so since I got my sample and then travel size. The travel size aged and it turned out so smooth. Like the brisk sharpness I mentioned earlier – it's gone. It's gentler and calmer now, and I get a shadow of its citrus note. Could be a mix of things related to perfumes aging but yeah it seems the bright punchy pomelo fragrance I once knew went to therapy and is now a chill guy.

In my opinion one of the most interesting interpretations of the grapefruit note. Peppery notes open up this fruit expressed in all its entirety, it is totally perceived with its bitter-sweet side. Fresh, summery, it makes me think of summer, but the super chic 50s one, with striped swimsuits and lots of people on the beach. Really nice. The poster for Comencini's film “Husbands in the City”

Mmmmmmm it’s so yummy! Realistic mouthwatering pomelo/grapefruit scent. Fresh and juicy with amazing peppery and green notes. So in love!

I can really smell the tea and grapefruit, and then the wood comes in as it dries . I'd wear this everyday if I could (price aside)

Mmmm just beautiful. Like lying in bed in the middle of a warm day close to a swimming pool. It's just so pleasurable.

This one smells like an Hermes jardin. Clean citrus with a touch of incense.

The grapefruit-aspect of the pepper is combined with grapefruit, hence the name. I imagine there was no timut in the database and was replaced with sichuan, but this very very misleading. As a composition, it is excellent and rather lovely. My only criticism is performance. Longevity is about 5-6 hours, but the wonderful grapefruit note (fresh, combined with osmanthus to create something fruity) doesn't last very long (I guess it's to be expected for a citrus note-but still, it's meant to be an EDP), and what you're left with is vetiver, mate, and a hint of grapefruit. By the 5th hour it is mostly musk (which is not listed for some reason). Sillage is intimate though throughout. Overall feel is of something fresh, aromatic and slightly fruity-summery.

Poivre Pomelo is a lovely peppery citrus scent which is both refreshing and tantalising for the senses. It’s dominated by a very realistic grapefruit note - capturing both the sweet, juicy aspect of this glorious fruit alongside the bitter rindy side to it as well. The vibrant kick of pink and black pepper tingle at the nose, contrasting the sweet fruitiness of osmanthus which is reminiscent of soft dried fruits. A dry, earthy base of mate tea and Vetiver round out the scent very nicely too. This scent is great for the summer, it’s refreshing and sophisticated without being just another boring citrus. It’s got some deeper complexities which are really enjoyable, but for me there’s something missing to make it a true love - and yet I can’t quite place what it is.

This is a gorgeous light, realistic grapefruit/pomelo scent! The pepper adds a nice background. Unfortunately, longevity is pretty much non-existent. Three hours in and it's a skin scent, I have to bury my nose in my wrist to smell it. It lasts a bit longer on clothes. I have a travel spray of this, and I'll enjoy using it in summer, but I don't think it's worth a FB. Edit: by the time I'd used up my travel spray up, I loved this! The price point is a lot, but the mix of fresh, tart and pepper notes is unique enough that I'm considering it.

Gonna echo the sentiments of others here- AMAZING scent. juicy JUICY and natural feeling grapefruit/pomelo with just the right amount of spiciness from the pepper. however from my sample as well as just vibes, this is NOT going to last at all. Probably in the vein of a Louis Vuitton freshie like afternoon swim where you spray it, enjoy it, then it is gone. considering getting a 10ml to wear for special summer days or to layer with another skin scent/musk type frag to boost performance.

Very likable and interesting scent, but weak performance made me trade my bottle after 4 or 5 wears. I do understand it is summer scent, and none of this type frags have good performance... Still, at this price range I'm expecting at least 4-5 hours of longevity and 2 hours of moderate projection and sillage. I'm getting from it 1 hour of moderate projection and 2 hours of skin scent. Even generously sprayed on clothes it lasts only 4 hours.

The opening is a 10/10 for me. Nothing short of sensational. Unfortunately, it turns on me in the mid and dry-down, becoming unpleasant and unbearable. I have no idea why. If the opening experience was my full wear experience, I'd run to the nearest store. I strongly recommended anyone to try this.

A very nice grapefruit scent that has a unique twist from the pepper. My favorite grapefruit was the one from Jo Malone but this wil be my new favorite for the upcoming summer. It is both spicy and fresh .

Very fresh, perfect for hot days with the strong notes of grapefruit and pepper with a touch of mate. 100% unisex, easy to wear during holidays and summer. 8/10

Quite lovely, opens as what seems like a woody-musky blend with some floral elements. Almost a feminine woodsy scent, but only leaning just so. Drying down it is turning more dry itself, becoming more green and less woodsy with a familiar powdery floral note I can't place. There's a bit of spice emerging as well. A bit later things are more clear, and this fragrance falls generally under the category of fresh, clean, and soapy but doesn't have any sense of that jasmine soapiness, but rather has a more aromatic and layered spice element that many mainstream fragrances of the same category lack. Any feminine element in the opening is gone and feels unisex, but slightly sporty. Looking at the notes now, I completely overlooked the citrus element, but it's there, floating on top, a bit tart, and adding to the crispness. Peppers clearly add spice and the base notes provide the woodsy foundation. Where this fragrance really shines through I think is the middle notes of Angelica, Peony, and Osmanthus, providing a more woodsy-musky body but with an unexpected floral tint, the overall effect giving a clean and spicy feeling. Sillage is ok, I feel like I had to spritz a bit more on. Longevity is standard. Personally, I don't really like the whole category of clean soapy scents, but this gets there without being locker room cloying.

I typically dislike citrus fragrances. Bergamot gives me a headache from a negative association as a kid. And orange notes typically smell too faint and green. This is the first citrus that didn't overwhelm me. In the beginning there is a super bright, juicy grapefruit with a perfectly spicy pepper compliment. You could not create a better combination if you tried. I mean it, it's like the sharpness of the pepper cuts through at the edge of the fruit to bring out the shine of citrus, without a cleaning product smell. As time goes on, the sharpness of the pepper fades, and without the edge it provides, the fruit becomes a little too sickly sweet. The grapefruit drys and loses it's juicy smell, and with it, it's realism. I'm left with a synthetic, gentle, but still sickly fruit base in the dry down that is not all that pleasant. It really is a shame that the best opening to a fragrance I have ever smelled is this fleeting. Buy s small sample, the opening to this is so beautiful. But don't wear it more than 2 hours.

Pomelo?....yes. Poivre? ....Not so much. (Actually, I just re-spritzed and there's a really brief peppery spice wave at the beginning of this fragrance, blink *with your nose* and you might miss it) The opening is a delight of citrus from grapefruit sharp to even a mandarin/melon nuance, so pomelo is pretty much spot on territory. There's pencil shavings and creamy sandalwood cedar underneath. Initially I really liked this but subsequent sprays on my arm and such, that excitement waned some, the citrus becoming less fresh on skin after a while. However, I'm coming full circle to say this is a very nicely done citrus/fruity perfume with the signature, musky, wood bases which are safe and agreeable to most tastes. This is superior to many fruity/citrus fragrances it's very good, (I've given it an okay here because it's not massively to my tastes) and I'd expect nothing less from a line which has been very good across the board.

This smells exactly like a pomelo, which I appreciate 😊 How do I know? After noticing that no one at my local grocery store buys pomelos, I started buying some out of pity. The grocery store clerk didn't even know what it was called when I first bought one and the item code for it didn't exist in their system 😭 Note: I do agree with some previous comments about longevity, I would rate this as very weak. It's very pretty though 🤭 Like an actual pomelo, this fragrance is less bitter than other grapefruit-focused perfumes.

Pepper’s super faint to my nose, citrus steals the whole show. And for that retail price? Yeah... not really worth it imo 🙂↔️ I adore Narcisse Taiji from this house, but Poivre Pomelo just felt kinda forgettable to me. Probably because Atelier Cologne already spoiled me with citrus scents done way better lol 🤔

Im grateful for the indifferent button because I think there’s too much pepper in Poivre Pomelo. And although it’s not to my taste, I don’t think it’s a bad scent. Primarily a grapefruit and pepper perfume, in fact it sent me into a sneezing fit.

Very pleasant scent. Unisex for sure. I like that for the most part, you can detect all of the notes that make up this fragrance. Still don't think this is full bottle worthy but happy to have this sample. 😏

Peppery cologne with an eternal pomelo. I get shades of peony, angelica and vetiver but this is monothematic. Juicy.

Smells great for about 5 minutes then does a disappearing act.

In the past, I sort of enjoyed this fragrance, but turns out, it’s a pass, as it is just too culinary if you will. The sichuan, mixed with the grapefruit, which veers more on the lemony side, comes off as something like a spicy marinade.

I am going to sample this one, but I just wanted to point out that this fragrance does not have Sichuan pepper. It has Timut(Timur) pepper, which has a strong grapefruit aroma. It is very closely related to the Sichuan, but Sichuan is more herbal and Tumit is more citrusy. I will update this when I actually sample it. 2/10/21 EDIT: A sample has been ordered. I will update it next week. I received my sample and here are my first impressions after wearing it for one day. I will update this if it changes. It opens with tart grapefruit and that Timut pepper which starts to contrast the freshness of the grapefruit with the heat of the pepper. This is short lived, soon the grapefruit takes on a fresher quality while still retaining a slight tart bite to it and makes way for rosy pink pepper to merge with the citrusy peony. In the base, there is only a very slight hint of mate with its dry herbal qualities. I do not pick up the vetiver. It seemed like this fragrance only lasted around 4 hours on me, but I need to do further testing to see if I just went nose blind or not. It's a very nice and natural-smelling grapefruit, but I am not entirely sure that the fragrance's quality matches its price tag. Further testing is certainly needed. It might have some potential when it warms up. It's still in the 50s here and some of these summer fragrances need heat to really do their thing.

this perfume holds its name: grapefruit and pepper. Opens up with a fresh burst of grapefruit and followed by a sharp spicy pepper (i’m guessing it’s the sichuan pepper) — a little bit too sharp it makes me want to sneeze. But in no way this fragrance is bad. I really enjoy this fragrance as it feels like a bright sunny day, with a dash of cool wind every now and then. Somewhere along the journey you will find a fleeting scent of peony too. Nice one, and unique, doesn’t remind me of anything.

Just meh. I am a grapefruit obsessed person and don’t find this to have any of the fun and addictive qualities that fruit has. Yes, there is no grapefruit in this, but pomelo is a close relative. And when it comes to the pepper, I am not getting anything energizing or zesty from that either. This perfume is lacking texture. And considering the shit performance and huge price tag, it’s not worth it. Far better pomelo/grapefruit scents out there.

I can only echo the positive reviews, this is just lovely. One of the better ones from the Atelier Materi collection. It's very approachable, gorgeous and full of energy. It's essentially a subtly fruity-sweet, spicy-fresh citrus, with pepper-spicy overtones. I know, 'pepper' sounds alarming, but don't worry, it contrasts beautiful with the rich fruity-rindyness. Definitely a winner from Atelier Materi. Perfect for summer. Leans masculine.

On paper: Fizzy yet warm. Pink grapefruit, cedarwood, vetiver, clementine peels. On skin: Metallic iris, grapefruit, lemon, vetiver, cedarwood, dry, earthy patchouli and lightly salty marine notes. A very energizing summer freshie, easy to like but with enough depth to not feel totally redundant in its category.

Another Atelier Materi that I like. It's Grapefruit with cat urine (rare!), some spicy peppery notes, vanillic florals and a bit of wood to ground it. But geez, it fades so fast! In no time, it's a thread of citrus and wood I can barely smell. I like this one, but it's gone so fast on me!

This is a no for me. It gives me headache and the scent profile is not my style. The opening is bizarre but the dry down is amazing. The juice is dark yellow so be careful when spraying on your clothing. My sample dried out so don’t know how the packaging was done.

This is a perfect Spring/Summer time scent because it wears so crisp. I imagine wearing a nice white linen shirt, khaki shorts, and enjoying the summertime breeze. Nicely done. Edit: Terrible performance and it’s not worth the price tag IMO

Reminded me of Tic Tac orange mints. Very nice and refreshing. Not very sophisticated, but cheerful and uplifting. There is something detergent-y, light clorine note maybe, but it’s making it more modern. Will try it again in summer heat.

I mainly got pepper on my skin. It’s really unusual fresh as described on the box. Not really pleasant to my nose if im being honest because of the spiciness of the pepper really overpowered the pomelo. I think it will grow on me though.

Sichuan pepper, mate, and vetiver.. This is all about pepper, and mate with some vetiver, & cedar. It is mostly peppery blend with some angelica, and a touch of citrus. ok.

The cost is ridiculous to what you get! Cliniques Grapefruit Happy spritz, at £28 will do the job with a mix of Parume Nicola Black pepper. How do they justify the price?
