Dark Rose

Dark Rose (also called Dark Rose Oud) is one of those scents for people who like the idea of the dirtiest rose with a most nocturnal aspect, nothing innocent. And, beforehand, I warn you: it is for those who like any fragrance with the rose's note quite present, from the beginning to the end of evolution. Dark Rose opens with notes of bergamot and carnation, bringing a body of Damask rose and saffron that rest on a base of oud and praline. The perfumer says that she used imported oil from the black rose (darker and rarer, for issues involving the ph of the earth and higher levels of anthocyanin) and that the fragrance was made in Parfum concentration. On the skin, the output already brings the rose with the spicy content of the carnations and a little acidity of the bergamot. Do not expect to feel a super citrus freshness of bergamot, because you will be disappointed, for sure! Then, the saffron arrives carrying the typical fragrance aspect of the Eastern market and so Dark Rose stays on the skin for hours on end. After a long time, when you are already intoxicated by the scent of the roses and almost feel nothing different, a creamier and slightly dusty content appears. The fragrance is quite linear in its evolution and there are no ripples in the projection. It is that type of powerful and striking perfume, which exhales a lot and disappears alike as if it were a battery losing its load. The durability is great: more than 10 hours on my skin. In terms of the result, I was very pleased with the way that the rose oil was worked, something still difficult to see in mass-market perfumery. To this day I have only found this combo of roses and saffron, which is easily shareable, in international niche brands or in some fragrances of exclusive collections. This fragrance is, definitely, for lovers of the rose as a central ingredient. If I had to explain what I feel by wearing it, in just one sentence, it would be: "Dark Rose is one of those expensive incenses made of red roses."
