Épices Cuir L'ecense

Épices, Cuir & L'Encens is that kind of perfume that calls attention by its name, first of all. Its fragrance is unisex and carries essential vegan oils from India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Israel. The perfumer classifies its fragrance as spicy-woody, but I can guarantee that it goes much further, since the boozy and incense nuances also play a fundamental role during evolution. The composition lists notes of raspberry, saffron, rum, and thyme on top; Bergamot, myrrh, and jasmine, in the body; Cedar, amber, frankincense, oud, and leather, in the base. On my skin, the fragrance was different due to batch issues. This happened because I received a fraction (sample) and a bottle and clearly one showed a longer maceration time than the other, influencing the result. Trying to simplify the differences, the fragrance of the sample reminded me of the chocolate and leathery scent in the dry down of Ferrari Essence Oud, while that of the bottle became more alcoholic and resinous. Both are good, but to my delight, the bottle was much more interesting and different. That is what this analysis is about. On the skin, Épices, Cuir & L'Encens opens with acid and alcoholic nuances thanks to the rich blend of raspberry and rum. It is as if the initial accord brought a mixture of blackberries and cassis with molasses. And even being a fan of the saffron note, in any fragrance, this time this note and the thyme were worked with less importance. Over time, jasmine appears, but it is muffled by the power of resins, where the myrrh brings an oriental heat and the frankincense imparts slightly citrus and fumed nuances. The amber of this creation is sensual, like those much used by the brides in the wedding ceremonies of the Arab peoples. Finally, a slight touch of Oud (on me, a little medicinal) and almost nothing of leather. Épices, Cuir & L'Encens exudes for a long time and sticks, literally, on the skin. As it is not very sweet, it did not bother me in the muffled autumn evenings, although it is strong. Who likes fragrances with nuances of whiskey, tobacco, and similar, will like this product. And even if that makes it look very masculine, make no mistake, because women will draw a lot of attention wherever they go. And on the matter of the batches, well, if even century-old and industrialized brands have already had problems like this, I will not criticize a company whose manufacture is totally handmade. I only suggest attention to the pattern and the time of production.
