Origami

This is magic in a bottle. The note of Papyrus with Rose makes that unique hart of this fragance, simply beautiful.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I adore Amouage "Guidance" and "Guidance 46." I cannot afford to wear my much loved Guidance as I'd like to because of the extremely steep price-point. I decided to purchase an Athena Fragrance dupe of Guidance (Omni) but needed to get my shipment over $100 USD for Athena to ship to the USA. I hastily purchased "Origami." I never owned, or wore By Killian "Criminal of Love." And perhaps the perfume will grow on me. But after a few wears, Origami isn't quite the love I hoped it might be. The notes in Origami speak to me. But for whatever reason, the perfume does not quite "wow" me on skin. I love cardamom and saffron as opening notes in perfumes. After on opening blast that is boozy and a bit leathery (saffron), Origami moves directly into an earthy, honeyed, papyrus accord with a gentle, unlit tobacco leaf note. Sadly, I do not smell much rose. And to my nose there's little patchouli, or incense. The base wears as a dusty, relatively dry, balsamic fragrance with remnants of semi-sweet honey, papyrus and dry immortelle. I refrain from gender categorizing fragrances. But IMHO, Origami is definitely quite masculine leaning. I like Origami but I do not see myself wearing it often.

This is the second Athena Fragrances offering I've purchased. Blind buy, good price. Fastest overseas shipping ever. Never tried Criminal of Love, the inspiration for Origami, but this comes across to me as a more niche version of Bentley for Men Intense. Better quality than BMI for certain. I think there is a bit of Layton here as well. You can pick out the individual notes in this. Not as strong a performer as Athena's Hive. Starts a bit smoky, but that fades after half an hour. Very nice fragrance. Not a room filler or clubbing bomb. A cozy men's fragrance that I thinks is is a cut above most designer offerings. 3 or 4 sprays for office or close quarters. 5 or 6 sprays for an evening out.
