24 Old Bond Street

This is such a hard scent to properly describe because I really have a hard time finding the individual notes that are supposedly in this. I think one of the best reviews of this below is the one stating that it is the "effortless/playful masculinity" chinos/shirt/wayfarer vibe (heavily paraphrased). I agree with that assessment. As far as what I actually smell, the best way I can put it into words, is that it reminds me of VERY expensive sunscreen, a touch of fruit notes (cantaloupe or even peach), and a hint of lemon/orange peel that one might find in a Martini. I don't detect Whisky, tea, or woods in this at all. Because of the summer/sun vibe, I think this will be best worn in those seasons and ideally when not at work. The fruit note makes it feel a little too playful for me to consider wearing it at work. I'll also add that for me, the magic happens in the basenotes/drydown. That is when 24 Old Bond shines with its perfectly rounded edges, elegance, and effortlessness. In the opening, I find this a bit shrill. Last but not least, while I don't know of one fragrance that is like this, I find traces of other scents' DNA in this. The fruit note is composed hauntingly similar to Philosykos from Diptyque, even if not the same exact fruit. The floral note (rose) is executed very similarly to Creed Royal Mayfair. Ultimately, I find bits and pieces of this experience that feel familiar, but overall, this is completely different from anything else I have smelled.

My first encounter with Atkinsons was about two years ago. I was at a department store and tried a number of their perfumes. They didn't leave much of an impression on me at that time. Maybe because I knew nothing of the brand and obviously, the price is pretty high. Two weeks ago I came across 24 Old Bond Street. I was feeling the name. Number 24, and Old Bond Street. So I googled the map and voila, that's the building I love. I remember strolling around Mayfair at one Christmas time and there was this building that caught my eye. I stopped at the intersection, observing and adoring the details in awe. It was the most beautiful building/store in the area, occupied by Salvatore Ferragamo. Apparently, that building was originally owned by The Atkinsons. I immediately knew I was going to love 24 Old Bond Street. Upon learning that Atkinsons is the oldest British perfumery house, my respect and admiration for the brand grew in a matter of minutes. I got myself a bottle of 24 Old Bond Street in no time and love it. Maybe it is the power of the story, the suggestion, but 24 Old Bond Street is a great cologne. It is crisp, fresh, classy. The black tea and whiskey are prominent. Projection is perfectly moderate, as loud is never classy. Longevity could be better but given that it is a cologne, it is still acceptable. Having said that, I am certainly going to give my Atkinsons a second try. -AB-

Fresh, casual, modern daytime scent. I was surprised to see the listed notes because the fragrance follows a rather linear path. Although not a strong scent, this one has a surprising depth. Slightly floral, boozy, spicy and yummy which gives it a brilliant character. Cardamom, whiskey and black tea makes this a special fragrance for me and i liked the muted echo of the rose. Has good projection for the first 3 hours, stays with you for almost 8 hours and then becomes a skin scent. Used on clothes, still lingers to the next day. I am very satisfied with the performance of this eau de cologne since it is much better than most of the designer fragrances. A good candidate for an office or casual scent.

The opening is a well done whiskey note, a little soapy, with the scent of older perfume that was familiar to me. Someone below said Pleasures by Este Lauder. Bingo, good call. Pleasures smells great and reminds me of good memories with a woman in my past. The scent of bourbon and the pleasures type cantaloupe note is soon joined by juniper, cardamom and roses. Smells really good! Into the drydown and I'm still getting that classy bourbon & cantaloupe which is now joined with Earl Grey tea. It's an EDC so it lives fast and dies young, but this draws lots of compliments and has and serious mass appeal while also staying interesting. I bought a full bottle and love it. Scent 9/10 Performance 4/10

This is a very clean and elegant scent. I was hoping for more whiskey in here, but the whiskey is very faint. What it leaves is a nice summer fragrance of tea, woods, and musk which are given some personality by the rose, juniper and cardomom. The whiskey is there just enough to give it some character, but not enough to make this a 'whiskey fragrance'. It was not what I was expecting, but it still smells nice. The performance so far seems non-existant. I will have to wear it around a bit to confirm, but was I expecting more since I ordered the fragrance oil hoping for a deeper performance. Update: The whiskey becomes much more prominent in they dry down. It's actually very nice

I liked it pretty much. It's kind of a calming scent, like an old friend (or a sugar daddy) you can always depend on. I've tried it on my skin in a Douglas shop, the longevity is around 4-5 hours. Most probably my next purchase. UPDATE (2016-07-15): I bought it yesterday. This morning (around 8) I applied it generously, which led to a stronger projection than expected. It projects like 2x stronger than Versace pour Homme, although it is marketed just as EDC. I was followed by a massive scent cloud till 14:00. Now it's 17:00 and I can still feel the Whiskey sometimes, which is currently the strongest component (next to juniper).

Get yourself a cigar and an old fashioned. Run fingers through your sunbathed blondish mane. Put on tortoise wayfarers. The sun is out and it's time for another day at french riviera for you, old money, beige panama suit dressed gentleman. This is the epitome of everyday, sophisticated masculine fragrance. It's fresh, green, aromatic and that touch of cardamom rounds it up to a well blended cologne. Boozy note lingers in the background, giving it the final edge. Very unique. Stands out and not many people know about it or smell like this. Just great, original perfumery.

This is quintessential British gentleman. Timeless, put together, understated without being boring, casually refined without being stodgy, and a dry humour. As a women, this is great on my skin. Versatile Roses without being floral A hint of whiskey without being boozy The black tea note better than LV ever could I imagine Felicity Jones wearing this.

Wow. Super nice floral that has grown on me the more I wear it. The floral's are not overbearing. Has a barbershop vibe to it as well. Limited longevity (4 hours) and projection (2 hours). Safe for office wear and is unisex for sure due to the floral's. Try before you buy just to make sure you really are into this type of juice. Enjoy!

If anybody knows the old school deodorant from the body shop for men, the Maca root one, this smells very similar which is fantastic because it smelt great and they discontinued it. This would be a great alternative to that original smell, very happy I found this.

Smells like some soap from 90s, from my childhood. Very easy to wear and very inoffensive. Wish it was stronger though. I would say it's a blind buy worthy. I don't detect any whiskey though.

The best thing i've done last year : Purchasing 24 old bond street. Now it's getting too hard to buy any of atkinson's. Definitely my cup of tea.

This fragrance kept me intrigued after 20-30 minutes - a powerful burst of citrus with splashes and a cologne-like persistence is clearly noticeable. At first, I wondered if juniper and cardamom could dance on rose petals after a plentiful tea session. So, I decided to visit the Atkinsons website. I read the fragrance description carefully, not just the notes pyramid, but the actual description. And everything fell into place right away. In the composition of this truly well-crafted perfume, there is, according to the creators, not just tea, but the famous Earl Grey, infused with oil obtained from the peel of bergamot fruits. So, the citrus notes may not seem obvious to us - they are present, but somehow elegantly concealed in the pyramid description. However, this does not diminish the beauty of the cologne. It is indeed not as simple as it may seem - you have to observe it until the very last stage when the tea has cooled and a sour-juniper coolness with pink veins wafts through. It is elegant yet persistent, composed, and slightly self-indulgent. But only slightly.

24 Old Bond Street is a perfectly balanced summer aromatic, freshie with spicy facets. The easiest notes to detect to my nose are junipers berries, black tea and cardamom. Very refreshing and cooling. Don’t get any rose and the whiskey and cedar only appear on my skin in the dry down. I am not noticing the musk or the ambergris per se. Maybe they were added just to add more longevity to the aromatic green notes. Either way, this is a fresher scent with an interesting twist offered by the boozy note, whiskey. If you’re bored to death by the usual summer fresh scents, give this one a try. It’s quite interesting and a bit more complex. As far as performance goes, it follows the standard trajectory of the summer scents, moderate longevity and minimal projection. But it is a well done fragrance in my opinion. Leans towards the masculine side. Feels targeted towards a young audience. I recommend this to someone who wants a niche alternative for the simple but absolutely perfectly blended Terre d’Hermes Eau Givree by Christine Nagel.

I feel like I didn’t understand what juniper berry smelt like until I got this. It opens with a fresh almost linen like berry smell (imagine like a really fancy dryer sheet or linens at a nice hotel) and of course is followed by the tea note you most likely bought this for. For the tea lovers I’d sh this is pretty well done. It gets nicer as it dries rather than more synthetic which is nice. The whiskey note is in the subtle side but blended really well. Nothing here sticks out or is too pungent. Pretty much like a tea & whiskey body wash. Not much rose to my nose. Got mine for $49, definitely worth the $80-90 price point you can often find it listed at 8/10. Will be like universally not just for a specific taste

Ok this is my introduction to the house. In hindsight, it is always best to test a fragrance first before buying. Initially, I was wowed by 24 Old Bond Street. To my nose, this smells luxurious, and it still is, but right now, it is starting to make me a bit nauseous. Juniper and rose are the stars here, at least to me, and that combo gives this floral, tart scent that churns my stomach. I'm still trying to give this a chance and will probably wear it still since it truly is a good fragrance. I'll probably try to wear this on an even hotter weather and see what happens. Admittedly, for an EDC, this has good longevity. If you don't like rose forward fragrances steer clear of this. Thankfully, I got this for $26!

"Fashion Decree" is my favourite scent of this brand. While there are certain elements of this creation are arguably nice (in particular the oak-barrell whiskey note) all in all it is far too weak for me. But I will say that this is the perfect gift for an outdoorsy kinda guy like Ben Fogle perhaps or an Alan Titchmarsh for it has this natural beauty and/ or natural relaxedness about it. Fashion forward or game-changing it most certainly ain't. But that is ok. Very MOR (middle of road) and classicly refined. For someone who wants to smell naturally good without all the fuss of trying too hard to make an impression (with scent). 6/10

A clean, crisp cologne which instantly puts you in mind of cool crisp cotton shirts and freshly washed hair. Slightly soapy on the dry down, there's something in there (the juniper?) which reminds of Matey bath bubbles, but that could just be me, Not unpleasant at all though. As it dries down the tea begins to come through, balanced with the juniper and maybe a hint of whiskey. Only a hint though. Although it is a unisex scent, I think it is very masculine, and whilst very pleasant, it's a two note wonder (juniper and tea) to me, I'd rather go for Penhaligon's Quercus or Juniper Sling.

If Gold Fair in Mayfair is Zaddy and this is giving Daddy. This is a fully housebroken man with a proper skincare routine who eats...a lot and with gusto (ladies iykyk). This is also a woman who embodies Stiffler's mom. Whoever you are, you've got your shit together and you're a pretty good addition to the pub quiz group. This is probably going to be a bit of a risky blind buy at this price point but if you get lucky then you're in for a real treat. Projection is low-moderate, sillage is moderate. Longevity is about 6h.

I love the juniper top opening, and after the drydown it is a wonderful fresh and polished cologne style. As others have said, not groundbreaking, but I do love Christine Nagel's style. I don't own this but have some decants, a lot of stock i have found is from very old batches with poor performance, so i would not touch this from an online discounter and try to buy directly from the official store.

#616 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I got this as a sample from Scent Split. I don't buy EDCs and EDTs as a matter of poor performance, but I will check out samples, and this was is a pleasant surprise. Clearly I should be dropping a shot of whiskey in my evening Earl Grey. This is a nice masculine scent that I like enough to want to own an EDP version of it. Sadly that doesn't exist. So, moving on.

This won't change the world but its a nice, clean freshie. Performance as expected with most freshies but good whilse it lasts.....

While I'm not cultured enough to pinpoint the ties that Atkinsons made with 24 Old Bond Street and the actual street in London or why the fragrance was inspired by this street, I will say that this smells undoubtedly British. Both in a good and bad way; everything's got its pros and cons. The scent profile, as deducted from the notes pyramid, is quite simple. Fresh, crisp, and certainly invigorating juniper is paired with a sprinkle of cardamom spice that leans more on its citric aspects rather than contrasting the juniper with warmth. The juniper adds a piney facet as well, but nothing to include a resinous accord too. Soon enough, a shy and gentle rose politely creeps in, accompanied by a mix of herbs and floral tones that make for the classic British Earl Grey tea. Both the rose and tea accord are more understated, soft-spoken, yet they still carry the whole composition forwards. The whiskey note doesn't manage to disrupt the rather tranquil atmosphere created by the aforementioned notes, adding a very mild boozy warmth. The whole fragrance feels classy; not vintage, but definitely close to that refined upper-class English gentleman that many have in mind. But at the same time, I cannot help but find 24 Old Bond Street quite boring and unexciting, even though that's exactly what it isn't trying to do. Given the softer feel of the juice here, I was expecting atrocious performance. But to my big surprise, 24 Old Bond Street somehow managed to last about 11 hours, close to 12 at times. But of course, that doesn't necessarily assure of similarly stellar projection, and that is indeed quite the case. Pushing power was modest, but still noticeable for people engaging in a conversation with you. Two hours in and there would still be a little bit of projection/sillage offered, but expectedly soft. It's still better than what I initially predicted I'd get. You won't have to worry about versatility here, and you also don't have to be dressed up or have tea time at 6 p.m. for 24 Old Bond Street to prove fitting. It's a simple profile, wearable in largely any context, from office to conferences to weddings or just as a daily leisure pick. Maybe it might give off a more mature/classy vibe, making it not all that appealing to the younger demographic, but those few that appreciate such scents in a world filled with synthetic amberwood slop will definitely appreciate a breath of fresh air with 24 Old Bond Street. But generally, when I smell 24 Old Bond Street, my mind goes straight to that calm, older British gentleman who doesn't hurry for anything but his tea time with his wife, and doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. So, a simplistic, classy scent like this is all he needs, because smelling good is not about catching attention for him - it's about identity and the enjoyment of simple things in life that shouldn't be rushed, such as tea time. While the overall scent structure does feel lacking in sparkle and impends me from giving it a higher rating, I understand that it's not a scent everyone will reach out to because few can truly enjoy such simplicity in a world filled with the need for dopamine and excitement. this was my first introduction to the line and it didn't live up to its note break down its just to green and projection wasn't on point i was really hoping to get more of that whiskey vibe but unfortunately its way too hidden in the background for my nose to pick up but i did pick up a nice rose scent one thats very pure and not your typical rose if i had to compare this to another scent id say its very similar to byredo - green and Diptyque - L'Ombre Dans L'Eau all and all its a safe scent to wear since its not to loud and in your face office worthy on to the next

When I first tried this in Barneys I had to have a sample! I thought it smelled great. However after I wore it on my wrist it dried down into a watery, boozy, rose mess that just didn't smell good on me at all!! For the price it was not impressive in the least bit. Too bad, I really thought it would be a good one.

Very weak, 20 min later I can hardly smell it any more. At this price point its a bad joke! Smells ok for the first 10 min, 20 min later I cant remember it any more.

I was given this tester and one of Oud Save The King by my mate at Niche Gallery. I gave 24 Old Bond Street a little sniff a few weeks ago and found it inoffensive and pleasant, but when I sprayed it properly on skin yesterday it really landed for me. This is right up my street. 24 Old Bond Street is a Ferragamo store now. I wonder if there was a high end tea shop at 24 Old Bond Street back in the day as this is what this fragrance strongly evokes for me. All the accords in this all have this nice texture that recalls dusty little wooden boxes in shelves from the far orient. You close your eyes and can picture an older man with steel-rimmed spectacles perched precariously on the end of his nose, dressed in suit trousers, razor sharp shirt sleeves and a faded apron , smiling a warm and quintessentially imperfect British smile as you walk in, ready to show you leafy delights from Jordan to Japan and everywhere in between. He clasps his hands together from behind a huge brass set of weighing scales and makes a joke about the appalling weather, then places his hands on the aged counter top and asks if you want a cup of tea. You've come to the right place. This wears like a perfectly refined, perfectly unisex, charmingly simple love letter to that romantic idea of what London used to be in our minds. The opening of this fragrance is a juniper berry tea next to some dried rose petals. Both of these linger with some black tea in the base and this is the central core of this fragrance. Everything else is there to add interest. There is cardamom chai in here and I get some Keemun jasmine in here in the peripheries even though there's no jasmine in this blend. I must say the Darjeeling-vibe black tea note is fabulous. It isn't bitter but it has this very charming, slightly sweet richness I love. There isn't any smoke in this as you find with The Noir 29 by Le Lebo which is the reference for black tea in perfumery for me. 24OBS is much softer and easier to wear but it has definite similarities. There is a whiskey note as well very much on the fringes to add richness to evoke Lapsang or Irabancha tea, rather than a boozy vibe per se. If Christine Nagel and Violaine Collas were going for a peon to the British love of tea in fragrance form in creating this perfume, then they absolutely demolished the brief here. It is so good it makes me a bit homesick for London. I get a very commendable 5-6 hours off two sprays on each wrist which for an EDC concentration is very solid. Layering Suggestion: Cherry Smoke by Tom Ford as a base layer, to add some cherry blossom and a little burst of that Earl Grey smoky tea vibe. Three Word Summary: The Tea Shop Scent - 9/10 Drydown - 7/10 Sillage - 8/10 Bottle/packaging - 8/10 Performance - 7/10 39/50

It is very exciting to discover that the famous and venerated old British perfumery of Atkinsons founded in 1799 is reborn in a re-launch of the house this year. The line has just arrived at Barney’s NY in San Francisco and I was amazed by the beauty of each and every one of the five fragrances in the line. They are as follows, (The Legendary Collection) The Odd Fellows Bouquet, The Nuptial Bouquet, The British Bouquet, Fashion Decree Woman, and from the Emblematic Collection, 24 Old Bond Street. 24 Old Bond Street is a gorgeous Oriental, smart, and captivating fragrance. Sartorial beauty and elegance are the order of the day with this masculine Eau de Cologne. It opens with a bracing, invigorating blast of Gin like Juniper that sinks swiftly into a mellow tea note. Here we are reminded of the British Raj and a time when the colonial empire turned under an ever shining British sun. This tea spiced with juniper melts into a lovely subtle English rose bringing a touch of Tudor spring to the elixir. With the tea at the fore and the rose and juniper at the aft we stay here for a comforting while until from below comes a lovely boozy whisky. This is a fine whisky note aged in old English oak barrels, to a rich smoky beauty. Whisky and cigars in a Mayfair gentleman’s club is the final scene we are left with in the dry down. The entire life of the cologne is brief but glorious. It is after all an Eau de Cologne in the old style and one should not expect a wild bear of a fragrance. This bear is a gentleman not a beast. The sillage is moderate and I in fact like it that way. 24 Old Bond Street is a ideal after bath or shower cologne that will add a perfectly executed beginning to any gentleman’s (or ladies) toilet. It also comes in a Bath and Shower Essence, a body lotion, soap and scented candle. It is a personal and up-close eau de cologne that inspires confidence and maybe a bit of romance as well. I spent the whole day catching whiffs of something incredible, running around the house trying to figure out what it was only to realize I’d sprayed 24 Old Bond Street on my hand earlier. It really left an impression. It’s beautiful, no doubt. Clean, calming, crisp like whisky poured over clouds of musk and ambergris, with rose petals drifting in a snowy mountain forest. The air feels green, cool, and fresh, almost like an upscale air freshener in the best way. That said, I’m still on the fence about wearing it as a personal scent. It smells amazing... but does it feel like me? I’m not sure. It sits somewhere between a stunning air freshner and a signature fragrance. One to keep exploring. I sprayed this on pretty heavily, including on clothes, about three hours ago, and its dominant accord is really strong and distinctive. I went to my spice rack and put my nose on juniper berries and cardamom, and that dominant 24 Old Bond St. accord indeed smells like juniper berries and cardamom jacked way up, together with the whiskey and tea I guess. Not sure how much rose contributes but it doesn't manifest as typical in rose-dominant scents, and so must be merely supportive here. The dominant accord may be what some below are describing as a melon-like accord. It's pretty good and the performance, so far, is a surprise.

This perfume is one of the maximum expressions of a classy man. It's hard to detect any note, but overall it smells aromatic, fresh, a bit creamy and so so elegant, very british. I absolutely disagree with the performance issues i read here and there. People tell me i still leave a trail after 12h when i wear it. maybe you are trying one spray on your arm from a decant and it obviously won't be the same? Or maybe you are trying the 'vinagre de toilette' bottle which is an after shave in the same normal bottle.

Very boring! So I received this today and to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. Next to no longevity and no silage whatsoever. This could be a MUCH nicer fragrance but it is incredibly boring. Nothing unique about it. The juniper is not noticeable. As is the tea. Thumbs down from me unfortunately. If you are wanting to buy this then be sure to get it on discount and do not waste £125.00.

This was a pleasant surprise for me. It's a perfect combination of classic and quirky British fragrance. Faintly reminiscent of Penhaligon's or Floris, but with a bit of an edge. Still elegantly familiar, but just to the left of classic. I have enjoyed wearing this for the past few days, and will add it to my rotation.

Have enjoyed my sample of this sheer, clean cologne. Despite it being marketed as a predominantly male scent I think it's decidedly unisex. The tea note is well done and not at all overpowering - the effect is citrussy, fresh and light. That said, I'm not sure if the sillage / longevity warrants the price tag.

It's a spiced tea and rose scent, it feels classy and reserved. It has a very clean and soapy feel. It becomes a skin scent soon after the application but stays there whispering for a long time. Soft, clean, well done. Nothing harsh here. I think it leans masculine. Nice scent.

Yes. It really has an accent of cassis and oceanic smells(like melon nuance from Pleasure by Estee Lauder). Green and herbals, and woody(oak I guess) scent. It smells very uncommon and characteristics. but not my cup of tea...

Amazing fresh luxurious scent that projects and last a good 6-8 hours for a fresh scent. Its citrus note is combine with a powdery note that gives it a very nice confutable aura to this fragrance.

I rather like this as a unisex perfume. Smells a bit like a gin and tonic except the alcohol isn't too strong. Trying to secure a partial bottle of this, wish me luck!

Pleasant, but way too timid to make much of an impression. I think the black tea note is the most prominent. Sort of a "Why bother?" scent. It barely registers.

I am pretty sure I smell celery in this one. Fresh, green, but vegetal green. Maybe some melons. Unisex. I love everything from Atkinsons.
