Shambala

Dreamlike, atypical surreal rose set in an intricate accord. The fragrance of spiritual fantasy. Shambala is not like anything I've smelled before. It's hard to pick out individual notes. Instead they eddy and evolve. A glimpse of rose amid beautiful whorls of powdery impresssions. Soft sillage, stronger longevity. Airy, rarified scent of perfume virtuosity.

The notes are not correct here. From Auphorie's website, they are: Himalayan Apple, Snow Lotus, Tibetan Tea Rose, Night-blooming Jasmine Tibetan Incense, Tobacco, Himalayan Amber, Smoke, Civet, Castoreum, Tonquin Musk

I voted the best I could based on the incorrect notes; otherwise I'd say amber-apple > incense-jasmine > tobacco-tea > rose-musk > lotus-animalics It smells dusty and a little sweet...I perceived fruity cocoa sitting on frankincense & myrrh (1:2). It's well-balanced and not overly anything. Pleasant and mysterious.

Don't know if my sample turned, or this fragrance just doesn't work on my skin or what - but this goes full barnyard on me. Very surprising and off-putting. I can smell a really nice rose and incense underneath, but there's a musty and slightly oily fecal top layer that I can't get past. Scrolling down I can see that the notes listed here are incorrect, AveParfum has listed the correct ones. I wonder if it's the triple whammy of civet-castoreum-musk that's giving me the fecal effect. updated to add: this becomes MUCH nicer after some time - an hour or two and the beast is tamed. Still, because the opening is so rough I don't think I need a bottle.

I'm sure those unfamiliar with Auphorie would appreciate Fragrantica's correcting the spelling of 'Shambhala' on this website. The name of the fragrance appears clearly printed on the bottle pictured above.
