Bohemian Rose

Ava Luxe is still in business, they just changed their ordering process. If you look for their website online, there are instructions on how to order. Just posting that for those who have been asking. I love this house and no, I don't have any affiliation with them. I have the perfume oil for this fragrance. It lasts forever! This rose is very interesting and on me is the perfect balance of rose and amber/citrus/musk. The rose is sophisticated and the spicy notes give this an edge. I like wearing this on its own or layered with a sweeter rose fragrance (Yardley's English Rose, YSL Paris) to showcase the rose scent while adding some complexity. When I layer this with YSL Paris, it smells almost identical to the original YSL Paris formula, which is one of my favorite scents of all time. So elegant, chic and unmistakably, flirtatiously feminine all at once. Cozy and sexy, brilliant!

Usually I'm wary of rose fragrances, but Serena included a sample of Bohemian Rose with a purchase, and I liked it so much I had to buy a bottle. For me, it pulls off that balancing act that's so difficult with rose fragrances: it's fresh without being piercing, sweet without being cloying, and avoids the potpourri pitfall. As it dries down it get more powdery, but it's not as powdery or as sweet as the Keiko Mecheri Loukhoums (which I also enjoy). It's really delightful. Update July 2025: I bought another bottle recently and found it different from the way I remembered it (not sure if that's my poor memory, if my sniffer has grown more discerning, or if there have been changes to the formula). It's very elegant and classic to me now, more grown-up than I remembered. Almost a special-occasion fragrance. Beautiful in a different way!

What a stunning warm, exotic, sultry rose!! Absolutely addicted! On me it's MFK Oud Satin Mood meets Guerlain French Kiss/Rose Cherie. Surprised that there is no almond in the notes. It belongs with Loukhoum-like fluffy confections, but not toothachingly sweet. A floral, powdery version of the Loukhoums. Definitely a seductress! You don't see her coming, and then once in her presence - can't let go of her... I own all 3-- Bohemian Rose, Oud Satin Mood and French Kiss and tend to reach for the Ava Luxe waaay more than the other two. It's a well-balanced, under-appreciated gem! The new bottle design is a bit sharper and cleaner. Fragrantica should definitely update the image.

Well, I hate to say this but... It's a very very boring rose, a bit too bright and plain, smells just like the essential oils you can get on ebay for 5 dollars. It's also very cloying, I didn't like it at all.
