Kama

Not for a wallflower. Not for a business meeting. Certainly not for meeting your in-laws. Never for your wedding day. Maybe not for outside of your bedroom. Really. This is like a potion the sexy witch concocts just for you so that your intended never looks at another potential partner. Ever. If there's such a thing as a "seal the deal" fragrance, it's Kama. I prefer this over MKK and MR combined. Wear this wherever you want to be nuzzled. Ava Luxe is back, and i can't wait to try her 2024 Kama vs my 2009 extrait. This is my favorite musk perfume. This is not a clean musk. That's why it's so perfect. If you love dirty musks, you must try Kama. I will never, ever be w/out Kama.

Back to reaffirm my original position that this is absolutely a masterpiece, a perfect work of art. What makes this fragrance so special is its ability to evoke an emotion I associate with a kind happiness I felt as a child. For me, this is more therapy than perfume. While challenging, I find it wearable as a layer or alone as long as you don't bathe in it. Winter and fall nights will love you.

This, to me, is an amplified version of ambergris tincture. Very fresh and complex yet round and subtle. When I first smelled it I didn't check the notes and thought I'd mistakenly been sent ambergris tincture. The quality of this extremely exceeds the price. I love it. P.S. Just ordered two more bottles.

Sexy, smooth, animalic musk. Kama smells like it should cost much more than it does. Edp sprayed gives moderate to large sillage, perfume oil dabbed stays close to the skin. Longevity of both for me was excellent.

A less expensive alternative to Muscs Koublai Khan. Not as complicated, nuanced, or well-composed as MKK, but if you like animalic scents or REAL musk, this is a good choice. Lasting power is fairly decent, sillage is pretty much nonexistent (nose-to-wrist on this one in oil form).

I just deleted my review of this perfume. I have never had this happen to me before where I liked a perfume, then went to being completely revolted by it. At first Kama smelled like a heavily animalic Cody Wild Musk oil but as I kept testing my sample the overwhelming smell of fecal matter and all manner of dead and decaying matter from the ocean hit me like a ton of bricks. I have always loved indolic and animalic perfumes, but Kama is just way too much for me. I can't even smell the amber and the rose like I did when I first tested it. Now all I can smell is fecal matter and death. I usually love ambergris in fragrance but here it is just too much. If the perfumer would dial back the ambergris by half, I think this would be an excellent dupe for vintage Cody Wild Musk oil. This sample is just unwearable for me. I will keep it but I will have to store it away from everything else in my collection. It is that strong. Kama is truly the filthiest musk I have ever smelled. Edit: 12/9/22 I go back and forth w/ Kama. Although always heavily animalic there are times when I don't mind it and others where I can't stand it at all. I think I will play w/ my sample and add a tiny bit to a floral/rose or spice fragrance and see what happens.

This is a beautiful, looming, dark creature. Right away you know. It opens with is a distinct current of bitterness, like freshly ground espresso the moment you pour hot water on, or 100% cacao, and some wisps of kerosene maybe? Roguishly indolic, (not fecal, but tar-pitchy and mothball-esque). It almost clears the nasal passages. The first 20 minutes are sharp minutes, and super inky black, but not filthy. Rather it’s richly leathery; dry, old leather with a musky sheen of mink oil. It’s smoky and slightly acrid. Eventually it slightly and beautifully sweetens, and the musk here is powdery/spicy. Smooth and dark and dry. I love the absence of white floral accords. The rose is masterfully attenuating and leaves this musk quite woody. This isn’t a symphonic or soft as MKK, which it’s frequently compared to. It’s not anything like Kiehl’s Musk, which os a favorite of mine and a reference musk for many. It’s simpler but it stands on its own and frankly, it’s masterfully simple. Very slow to develop, excellent longevity, good sillage, fairly linear. I let my (fragrance illiterate) husband smell my wrist to see what he thought. He said ‘Cigarettes and roses’. So there you have it.

I've been using this perfume on and off for years now and just ordered a refill. It is truly one of the best (if not the very best) animalic fragrance I ever smelt or used. But those who are concerned about possible turn off caused by such ingredients I can say a few recommendations: 1. Animalic notes tend to work the best on hot and oily (wet) skin. If you have dry and cold one do not use it as there's little chance it will smell as intended on you. 2. Those notes improve in heat and on cold weather start "sounding" funny. Subsequently, do not wear such fragrances in cool weather if expect them to work on you outdoors. 3. Animalic smells are extremely dose sensitive, more than any other type. Experiment in safe environment what is your personal correct dose so you don't kill the senses in public. A little fluctuation in quantity can make a difference of night and day in effect. Follow those simple rules and animalic notes will work FOR you, instead of AGAINST. :)

Kama is one of my favourite musks in my collection. I have the oil and it's such a warm pleasant and fulfilling mix of lightly sweet musk notes. I am glad there aren't other aromatics trying to disguise or take away any limelight from the muskiness. There is an animalic vibe, but I don't personally find it 'fecal' at all maybe it's more apparent with the EDP? Then again I may be partially anosmic to some molecules that others find offensive... BUT!, I have worn this at work and had compliments from colleagues I've sat next to, so it can't be that bad. Maybe some earlier versions were more wild, but the current version is a dream for seasoned musk fanatics.

I am utterly mad about this one, and have written about it both here and on Cafleurebon. today, I've added some Cormoran ylang ylang and Egyptian jasmine grandiflorum to it. Heavenly !

This is the closest fragrance to MKK I’ve ever found and I’ve tried everything voted similar. That’s my grail fragrance but it’s very expensive. I’m in love!
