Love's True Bluish Light

I reviewed this fragrance a couple years ago and my opinion has changed so much I don’t even want to update my review. It needs a new one. This is the most gorgeous creamy, sweet baby skin (as I’d noted before), lactonic in a light airy way - whipped cream so light it fluffs like a cloud, maternal - I smell new born baby in their mothers arms and the smell that comes off their skin together. Light musks swirl with the milky cloud lightly dusted with the tiniest amount of powdered sugar. The is a very soft light fruit, like maybe a peach... Or the smell of half and half after sliced peaches had been sitting in it. This perfume smells like love. I especially smell maternal love, but I believe it could be romantic as well. To me, this really smells like skin touching skin that is somehow swirling with clouds of the scents I mentioned. This is also an amazing bed scent. I spray my bed and pillows with this often. I recently repurched the extrait and I am going to go purchase a larger size of the EDP. It says the EDP leaves more of a trail and I would love to smell that! I may purchase the oil as well. This scent is absolutely divine and a true gift to yourself every time you put it on.

Loves true bluish light is stunning in its simplicity. A warm comforting fluffy vanillic musk that smells like innocence, dreams, kittens, and teenage angst. Innocence and mayhem all at once. This perfume is like going in a time machine and smelling all of those great 80's drugstore classics, at least the dry down of many of them. It really reminds me of the original Heaven Scent Vanilla. This is very near the original Heaven Scent Vanilla. If you like cuddly, romantic, musky and powdery vanillas that are reminiscent of the wonderful musk's of the 70's and 80's give Loves True Bluish Light a try. This is just delightful. Warmth, comfort and romance in a bottle. Edit: While I do love this scent, I find I have something quite similar in my collection by Olivine Atelier called More than the Stars. More than the Stars has the same musk and vanilla and amber here, but it also has almond, and lily which makes it more complex. If you want a comforting vanilla/musk that is very neutral but still powerful and long lasting this is a good way to go.

To say that anything whatsoever containing black musk is "pretty" is an act of courage for me, since I am, alas!, hyperosmic to it. But Love's True Bluish Light is really, really so incredibly well blended that I love it, and would recommend it to anyone who can wrap their senses around a gourmand - a sort of spicey creme caramel/flan musky mad little thing - that is a little more grown up, a lot different and rather fetchingly daring. Love's True Bluish Light is beautifully made, a sweet musky pretty thing that is creamy and sexy yet not overtly edible.Its a veritable compliment magnet, not to mention a real wrist sniffer, AND its niche but super affordable. An 8.5 out of 10 for lasting power and sillage, but a 10 out of 10 for the genius of the perfumer's blending of black musk in a gourmand composition.

As someone I think mentioned below, the name for this perfume comes from a line in the song Heart of Glass by Blondie. Which basically explains that the singer is/was in love with someone, but got her heart broken and love is not what it seems. She says she's "riding high on Love's true bluish light". Like someone else also described, I feel like this perfume describes the love you feel before you get your heart broken. When love seems like the best thing in the world and you can love freely without having to be cautious because you haven't experienced enough of love to know how much it hurts to have your heart broken. This scent is so innocent, but is the calm before the storm. When love is still seen through naive eyes. Precious.

Love's True Bluish Light I bought this mainly because I love the name. It sounded lovely but I wondered if it might be too "foody" for me. Well, Yes, this is gourmand, it is vanilla and it is rich and creamy. But I have to say, it is the most beautiful foody gourmand I've come across, and far from being heavy or cloying or too sweet. As it gets down to the base, it takes on a nice musky quality that balances out the sweet creaminess. This is a nuzzler, for sure. It should definitely be on every gourmand lover's list. It's the epitome of the perfect gourmand for me, since I don't care for the very sweet scents.

Mounds of dust, powdery, chalky, cold vanilla. I see the word ethereal thrown around everywhere but this time I really have to say it, ethereal! This is other worldly, it makes me think of a pale blue ghost in an empty attic, sitting in a rocking chair, looking up at the moon. There is something oddly melancholic about it, but the fragrance is so sweet. I've never heard of white amber before, but this definitely isn't a rich/dark amber so I guess it fits.

A quiet lullaby. This fragrance is equally airy and earthy to me. It has a dreamlike quality to it that seems to encourage me to relax and peel away the layers of the day, and I feel less and less like punching someone the longer I wear it. ;) So far my favourite to dab on the nape of my neck before bedtime. I own the perfume oil, and this lingers beautifully. A definite re-purchase!

To me this is comfort in a bottle. A warm and cozy milky vanilla with the musk lingering in the background keeping it a tad powdery. This is not a scent I usually wear out, it's too intimate and I like to keep it for myself and my loved ones. It's one of my favorite bedtime scents. (Review for EdP made in Oct 2014).

This smells like the top of a baby's head. It is lightly sweet and innocent. Definite notes of powder and vanilla. I use this as a linen spray on my sheets because it is the scent equivalent of sweet dreams. If I was to wear it on it's own I would probably layer it with something as it is a little simple.

Milky Musk. It sounds so simple (and it is) but it's also so comforting and serene. Every note listed really comes through, but on me the amber is very light, but beautiful. There's nothing animalic or stinky about this perfume. It's gorgeous!!

Warm, creamy and beautifully delicate, not too sweet or musky. The Fragrantica description is very accurate. It's a nice skin scent on me. I ordered at least $100's worth of samples and this is one of the few I'd buy a full bottle of.

Creamy, sweet and comforting, but not sugary. The ambery drydown makes it sexier than it seems at first, creating a very grown-up gourmand.

This is exquisite, the most tender fragrance you could imagine. The longevity is eternal. This is one of my favorite perfumes. Big LOVE

This smells pleasant enough, but I found it a bit boring and it gives me a headache. I'm a perfume newbie though, so I suspect I might be sensitive to certain kinds of musks. I also had hope it would be a warmer, milkier fragrance, but it's definitely more cool.

Soothing crystalline musk mixed with creamy vanilla and freshly baked bread. A hug in fragrance form.

Love's True Bluish Light is a fine example of what Ava Luxe does so well; milky, soft and powdery vanillas. I find this fragrance a little similar to Angel Face by the same house, however it's not a complete replicate. The composition opens with a delicate vanilla milky-ness. To be honest, Love's True Bluish Light is fairly linear. After having worn this fragrance for nearly three hours, there hasn't been much of a development since the opening. I'm really enjoying the softness that this fragrance brings. It's soothing in a creamy and sensual way. It's thankfully not too sweet on my skin, but I can't say that I find it particularly gourmand like others do. An oriental vanilla classifies it well for me. I'm not usually a fan of mellow scents, but in this case, as the same with Angel Face, the subtlety is pleasing. I feel especially cuddly when wearing Love's True Bluish Light. It's not a complex scent, but the simplicity works in a way that I wouldn't want it to be altered in any fashion. I like having a scent in my wardrobe that sits amongst the loud and violent aromas to greet me with gentle thoughts and harmonious delicacy. Surprisingly Love's True Bluish Light lasts relatively well on my skin, but be warned that the sillage is very intimate. Occasionally I am asnomic to musk, so this fragrance will greet my nose when it feels up to it.

Thank dear God I didn’t buy a full size. Smells (on my skin) like pure, unadulterated playdough. In fact I took our schools alcohol wipes to desperately wipe it off my wrists/neck. I’m a teacher. I AMP heliotrope to no end. One of those fragrances I figured I’d love and sadly, no. EDITED APRIL 26 2026 I tried it again, one year from its arrival date. It is now exquisite, go figure. Powdery, soft, vanillic, musky goodness. No play dough. Color me awestruck. Fragrances are so delightfully strange, they are molecular after all.

Smells very close to Dr Palmers Shea Butter lotion, the newer formula. I get a hint of lemon and cookie at first, which settles down to a pure sweet baby vanilla. Also evocative of Egyptian Musk a little, even though I don't get a lot of musk. I am wearing it today, so let's see if if it gets any notice.

A beautiful powdery, slightly sweet/lactonic treat. Very comforting, love wearing it to bed. I picture Marie Antoinette eating a slightly sweetened cake like dessert that has a dusting of powdered sugar on top. Similar to Milk by the same brand but more powdery and less lactonic. It's gorgeous.

I want this fragrance purely because it's named directly from lyrics in a Blondie song - I think at this point in my collection, that's enough of a reason to warrant purchasing something!

Beautiful,sexy,creamy,dreamy innocent quality to it...if that makes any sense. Everyone will want to know what you are wearing. Heavenly scent than you cannot get enough of.

100% agree this smells like innocence, probably because it smells like baby powder? But I do love it
