Ancient Attar

This stunk horribly. After I (regretfully) put it on my skin, all I could think was, "How could they think anyone would want to smell like this?!" It does smell like medicine. There are a zillion things in nature that smell beautiful, so why produce something so vile? Nobody who is out and about in nature would stumble upon something that smelled like this and proceed to rub it all over their body. Seriously, what was Aveda thinking??

How disappointing. It smells of a million things hitting your nose all at once. Medicinal, yes. But with many Aveda products lately, I feel they are sneaking in a licorice note as some kind of common thread or trademark. Unfortunately for me, it is headache inducing.

Incense rose. Very natural smelling (think that's their whole raison d'etre? so that's good..!) and also quite expensive smelling. You can tell it's quality, even if not to your taste. Personally think this is Avedas best scent. Actually smells like proper perfume, beautifully blended. (as opposed to the Chakra series, which don't!) Addendum: Pointed this out to my mother who loves rose, and so I thought she'd like this, but she said "Yuck! Smells like medicine." and pulled a face for good measure. Oh well. Strike that off future gift list then.. The thing is, as soon as she said it, I can see what she means.. but I still like it very much. Good medicine! Perhaps to say it has a syrupy quality, but not sweet sugar syrupy, but like old fashioned warming cough medicine?

Meh. C'mon Aveda. Remember when you made the old Chakras in the 90s, and the Gorgeous Pure-fumes like Iyatiku and Isesi? Get your $H!t together and make something good. We implore you. Well, I suppose under the Lauder umbrella you can't....

My friends loves it, tells me it has strong patchouli type of smell. Does anybody know this frag? Tried it today, smells terrible, no wonder why it was discounted.
