Black Suede Leather

I have come to the point where my experience with scents is good enough to crown AVON the King/Queen of "powdery" scents. Avon's two top "powder" scents, to me, are Mesmerize and Black Suede Leather. This is a great floral/lite leather/powder-like aroma for men. I do see it as a 12 month scent for the gentleman day or night and for just about any event on your social calendar. I don't see it as evolving much from the beginning to end but to me it matters little when it is a rather unique smeller! Also, as most perfume/cologne collectors know, Avon makes this available at a great price! Enjoy!

Black Suede:Leather goes on strong with a blast of crisp citrus and herbs, but, within 20 minutes, this exuberant top all but disappears, skips over having much of a heart entirely, and spends the remainder of its life cuddled up within the warm-blanket folds of its base-notes: truly, it is a "decorated skin-scent" (a bit of a sexy one at that), and there are times when something like this might be wise to keep within reach. With its touches of patchouli, castoreum, and amber, it hints of reference to old powerhouses such as Givenchy Gentleman and Salvador Dali PH, but unlike those classic and mighty, room-clearing oriental-fougeres, BSLeather is very-much on the light side, and firmly modern in its notable employment of cashmeran (making it a close "brother" to 'Driven Black'); there is absolutely no oakmoss to be had here, nor does it bear any resemblance to the original Black Suede. Because of its lightness, it is almost impossible to overspray BSLeather- making it perfect for both intimate encounters as well as enclosed daytime spaces- situations that would demand someone leaning in closely before detecting anything. Rich and warm, cool-weather character. Longevity on me at 70F: over 9 hours.

Actually very nice and sexy. I think I prefer these kind of sweet, tobacco leather scents in winter on a guy. I do get tobacco and Amber and suede/ leatger. It's kind of i f there was a male version of Shalimar( I know either sex can wear Shalimar but some guys just don't like wearing scents labelled " for women". I would buy this for my boyfriend. Okay maybe compared to skanky outrageous stuff like Secretions Magnifiques or Muscs Koubla Khan it's tame but honestly I don't like dirty stinky musk like that. I like perfume to smell good not like you dumped some cinnamon or rose calcium on a crunchy hippie .

This is actually the cologne my dad wore when he started dating my mom, so I only have happy memories with it. Trying it as a little kid, I hated how pungent the amber woodiness of it was, but kept coming back for those florals. This is now also a date night frag for me, and sometimes when I feel like it, I layer it with a sweeter, vanilla ladies fragrance. To me that tames the muskiness and tobacco. Projects great, lasts as long as you really need it to.

On my skin this is very similar to Midnight in Paris by Van Cleef & Arpels. Very powdery, maybe slightly leathery but the baby powered scent comes though the most. Imagine a lightly worn leather jacket. Not a heavy leather note. That is kind of what it smells like. Overall: 3.5/10 Longevity: 4/10 Sillage: 4/10

It's smooth, powdery & aromatic --- very nice clean, wholesome, safe scent ideal for men ages 25+ This is another favorite of mine (next to classy scent Avon Homme)

Is there leather in this? Not that I can smell. In fact, I'm having a difficult time picking out any real notes in this. It's just sort of generically "masculine." Kind of ambery. Boring. Projection is poor, and as for longevity, it becomes weak pretty quickly. "This rebellious scent..." Haw! Hahahahaha!

I once Had This perfume long ago, actually its the first perfume i owned, a friend sold it to me, its not good at all, it smells cheap I only liked the facewash.

The smell remind me of my old high school math teacher,it's smell really like cheap powder and nothing more.

Used to love this as a kid, But now I hate this so much. It smells so cheap and nauseating. Smells like that pastor that you can smell across the church. This is the only fragrance I went from loving to hating. This smells very mature but cheap at the same time.

This is not one of Avon's best. Not even the best of the Black Suede flankers. Initially it seems very weak, then it strengthens as it gets a gingery crispness. The opening ginger/citrus fades quite quickly and then it just becomes too bland and not strong enough. It is slightly sweet and only ever has low projection which fades to a skin scent after 4 or 5 hours. Not deep, potent or masculine enough to live up to the "Leather" name. It doesn't have the sweetness, powderiness, strength or staying power of the original Black Suede. It is an unassuming, pleasant, gingery, citrusy scent but there is nowhere near enough leather, tobacco or depth in mid and base notes for it to deliver what I had hoped for. Smells OK, lasts OK, projects poorly. Not awful but sits squarely in the middle of the huge number of average fragrances. I wouldn't, in all honesty, consider this to be a "leather" scent. Not surprised to see that this is discontinued. Won't be buying this one again.

I admit i am a girly girl when it comes to selecting my perfumes, but this one is an exception. It absolutely smells good on my skin, though its true it does disappear very quickly (about only an hour on me)i love the raw masculine, spicy and crisp amber scent it portrays. It does kinda remind me of my Dad and grandpa and i love it. This perfume is very affordable here in the Philippines and is a great staple for a semi-luxurious present.

I bought a bottle on ebay for $11. When it arrived I applied my usual 3 sprays to my chest. And I smelled nothing but a very weak powdery note. Within 15 minutes it was gone. So I tried it again, and got the same result. WTF either Avon makes very weak watered down colognes or I got a fake. Seriously though, why fake a cheap Avon fragrance? Well, I guess a lesson learned by me. If you buy cheap, you can expect cheap. My bad.

hmm...this fragance is not for me. the leather note is too heavy and i can only visualise someone who plays poker in a dark dingy smokey basement would wear this.
