Far Away Fantasy

I'm glad to see this in the database now. I have two boxes dated the year 2000. I always thought of this as the younger sister of the original Far Away. FAF has strong sillage, but her longevity is just a tad short of say 6-8 hours, versus Far Away's lasting all night. There is that same strong coconut vibe tempered by amber and wonderful spices,but the air is filled with more flowery nuances instead, prompting you to wear Fantasy daytime should you like. The original Far Away can be heady, musky and over-the-top for some, I happen to love it, but if you're one that likes it but wants it in a lesser concentration, minus the heavy spices and muskyness, then add airy light florals, then this is your gal. Fantasy worn lightly wouldn't offend, it's more of a carefree blend done very well by this House. Their series of Far Away is excellent.

It says here that F.A.Fantasy was released in 2010...well possibly in Europe because in the States this was released in 2000!...I remember this being a Sweet Heady cocktail of Strawberries...Spice...and Champagne with a little bit of herbs...patchouli perhaps? The dry-down was a Sweet ambery musk...I know when it debuted I wasn't too crazy about it at the time... my Nose was a little untrained and to me it smelled of something for an "older woman"... But I believe Now I would most likely LOVE IT!! I Also remember the VOGUE like advertisement for F.A.Fantasy....it was a brunette model wearing a Blue Gown sprawled across a beach holding the bottle.....There was even a Chandelier washed up on the Shore!!

this opens with a peachy-vanilla with some freesia and something else that reminds me of jungle greenery a bit. i can't believe that this is only composed of 4 floral notes. later on i just get a floral vanilla with a hint of something slightly vegetal, so i can see the comparisons to black orchid if memory serves. i dunno, i am feeling like i cannot truly place the actual floral notes in this, but it's definitely a sort of tropical vanilla with a unique edge. orange blossom seems to be there but there is something else. maybe in this case it's jasmine, though i wouldn't read it as such. an interesting perfume!

I boght it ages ago in a charity shop. A blind buy, as usual... I hate Far Away but sniffed it from a bottle and as it had nothing to do with the original and the price was about £2.50, I took a chance. I sprayed it for the first time today. My first thought was:omg, I need to get rid of it quickly! It was a blast of white suffocating flowers, lilies maybe? But no sign of Far Away what is a good sign. Then it turned into something for fans of JPG Classique. And now, after good 2 hours from spraying it onto my wrist, I can smell Nina Ricci Belles les Minutes. This is the most strange thing ever! I like it a lot, and after my recent blind purchases of about 10 various samples, mini sprays and so one, I have found this one the best of them. A hidden gem from my own cupboard;) I am not familiar with all Far Away flankers, but this one is the best.

I love this, I still hoard bottles from ebay whenever I see them listed so I dont run out. If I was a betting woman, i’d swear they sold the formula to Tom Ford and they played around with it and came up with Black orchid. Its heady and sultry and nothing like todays perfumes. A golden oldie and a compliment getter from both men and women. Its unique.
