Far Away Gold

I blind bought this a couple of years ago based on reviews and my overall appreciation for what I believe are highly-underrated Avon perfumes. This is everything it promised to be and more. I've since smelled the original Far Away (I know I tried it years ago, but I had no memory of what it was like). The two are very similar, but Gold is just a touch more opulent and warm. This, to me, is a winter tropical scent. Not that you can't wear it in the summer, or any other time. I'm in Haiti and it's probably 90-degrees (as it is every day), and I'm wearing this today. But it could be a bit much for close quarters in the heat. I also wouldn't recommend it for work or places where you'll be in close proximity with people because it's a powerhouse! That being said, this fragrance absolutely needs more love. I have been testing a lot of high-end niche scents lately, and I can 100% say, this scent compares in quality and performance to any of those. I sincerely believe that its only downfall is the name "Avon" since people have (unfair) negative ideas of the house. If it was in a Guerlain bottle, everyone would be going nuts for it! The lovely thing about this scent is that is is very well blended. I sometimes struggle with peach notes. But in here, that is so much a part of the overall composition, it doesn't really bother me. The scent goes on with a blast of floral, primarily Ylang-Ylang. Within about 20 minutes, the warm depth of the vanilla and amber will come out, and about an hour after that, I really start to get the sandalwood. I don't get much of the other notes, but it does seem they are there, simply because the opulence of this scent requires a bit more complexity than those four notes I mentioned. Overall, this is a fantastic bargain scent and one that I highly recommend for those who love heady, sweet, warm, tropical, florals.

I got my first memory of Avon's Far Away when I was a little girl back in the 90s. I loved sniffing the FA patches in catalogues from my mother's Avon rep friends. Something about the scent was very comforting. A few weeks ago, I purchased a purse concentre of FA to remind myself of the scent. It was different from many fragrances available on the market today. Yes, it smelled "mature" to me because of my memory of it from more than 20 years ago. I guess anything that reminds us of the past will seem "dated". I'd be a full-bloomed adult woman not too long from now. I waited and contemplated - to buy or not to buy a full bottle, and if I do, which version of FA I should go for. I finally decided to purchase FA Gold. And boy, am I not disappointed. I have always wanted something more sophisticated than many popular scents that are bursting with citrusy top notes these days, yet the drydowns are unpleasant to me or simply non-existent. Something comforting with smooth powderiness. Vanilla-laden but not gourmandise. Sweet but not migraine-inducing. No obvious muskiness. Does not become cloying when the temperature rises (I live in a tropical country). This is it. I'm so glad I gave FA Gold a chance.

It's one of Avon's better fragrances, potentially the best. I't is a slight nod to original far away but only slight. The ingredients are the same but in gold they are of the highest quality and the most exclusive which makes a huge difference. You can smell the difference in quality right away. It is longer lasting than the typical Avon fragrance and it is the best Avon Calice Becker fragrance. Wait for it to dry down before you judge it. The dry down is beautiful. Gorgeous vanilla, subtle spices, seductive jasmine. The scent is different than Michael Kors but it has the same weight/heaviness to it. I just got my bottle of Far Away Gold a couple of days ago and have been using it as the temperatures are steadily climbing. I thought it would be more of an autumn/winter scent but find it is quite suitable for summer evening as well as cooler daytime wear. I have owned the original Far Away (which I had to give away as it was too strong for me in summer and didn't like it as much for winter wear) and I still have a bottle of Far Away Dreams (which is a lovely little flanker that is softer and more wearable for me than the original). So, FA Gold is my third try of this collection and I must say that I like it. I get a coconut/chocolate (ever so lightly)/exotic vibe which is quite yummy and makes it a more playful/casual/cozy/comfy scent for low-key occasions. I usually have a hard time with Avon fragrances but FA Dreams and Gold are the only two so far that I don't mind wearing for casual everyday wear.

Oh my goodness, Far Away Gold EDP is what i call the perfect modern flanker of a classic perfume. A creamy floriental fragrance, resembling really good the original Far away with the exotic notes of ylang ylang and what i think is a double concentration of a creamy vanilla note, but with a modern touch, making it less “powdery” & intrusive. I grew up smelling the original FA, the best selling fragrance of Avon and FA Gold is a keeper, i think this is also a good choice for those people, who doesn’t tolerate the original one, Gold is like a smothered, kind of a more soft but strongly enough, to be noticed in a lovely cozy & comforting way. This one is perfect for fall/winter or those cold days, summer nightime, a fragrance to love&hug. Longevity & projection is pretty good, just remember a little goes a long way! Good job Avon.

THIS FRAGRANCE IS MAKING THE GUYS GO CRAZYYY!! The amount of compliments I’m getting is unbelievable. This was my first time ordering from Avon I was sceptical about it. But do you know what, this was the best £14 I’ve ever spent. I am getting more compliments on this fragrance than I’ve gotten on my pricer perfume. Everyone loves it. Smell& Longevity: The fragrance smells like a woody, white&yellow floral vanilla pudding. It’s strong & long lasting yet not in bam 💥! In your face. It’s feminine, sophisticated yet sexy. Conclusion: This fragrance is guaranteed to get your compliments. give this fragrance to try as iit’s pretty affordable it makes a good everyday fragrance to so why not give it a go. This scent is really nice, I really really enjoy it. It's similar to it's older sister Far Away, but it's a little more vanilla and less heavy white florals. Don't get me wrong, some people might mistake one for the other if they weren't familiar with the Far Away perfume and its flankers. I find it to be just as beautiful and powdery and sweet but it's missing a few of the Far Away nuances that set it apart. This perfume is just darling in the spring time but it also holds up well in the heat. I can really see this as a cold weather perfume too because of the cozy vanilla and powdery essence. It's classy and well put together, like we all wish we could be. Edit: this perfume smells so much like marshmallows on my skin! I love the powdery vanilla in this.

Well, this is a lovely surprise. I have not even liked many AVON perfumes (Im an ex-AVON lady!) but this one is impressive. Long lasting and with a decent sillage. It smells so decadent. Well done AVON. Lots of sweet creamy vanilla and amber that is given a bit of edge with the ylang ylang. I smell jasmine and coconut all the way through but thankfully the coconut is low key. I can also pick up some of the citrus but vanilla is most definitely dominant. I much prefer this to the original Far Away. I dont think it smells like a vanilla candle and I have many fragrant candles of various makes. I love it so much that I bought a back up bottle in case its discontinued!

This is my first Avon from the "far away" collection so i'm not biased and i never smelled the original one. This is really a lighter version of Casmir Chopard. Casmir is one of my two signature fragrances so i was shocked when i tried Far Away Gold the first time. But after a few minutes you can smell some differences: It's less heavier and the sillage isn't as huge as Casmir. Also Far away Gold is a lot more creamy and less oriental than Casmir and a tiny bit more tropical- i really think if you are big lover of Casmir like i am, you will be very happy with this for the summer time.

A wonderful representative of Far Away line. This is too much vanilla in a good way. This fragrance is suitable for any time of the year, including summer when it's sweet, but not cloying. This is my favorite scent from Far Away line. Gold is more evening fragrance - it is a vanilla mono-scent, but it is very beautiful and attractive for dating especially. Longevity is excellent, I can smell it on clothes the most part of the day. I've been using it for a long time, and when someone mentions fragrances with vanilla notes, Far Away Gold always comes to the mind first.

Far Away Gold is my first Avon fragrance and I'm thoroughly impressed. This is so smooth and velvety! Bold but not brash, and luxurious in both scent and performance. The bottle is compact but heavy and sturdy. The fragrance is comforting and beautiful, like slipping into the plushest of holiday robes: relaxed to the point of glowing after a perfect evening. Creamy vanilla and rich ylang, smooth sandalwood and a hint of white flowers. Along comes that powdery velvet that wraps it all up in a golden bow. Outstanding.

I am lucky that I could buy this as I am in the UK. I am not a far of Fan Away original at all, but I love Gold! Its creamy and sensual, the amber gives it the touch I love and takes it away from being sickly. I am wearing it today, cool and rainy summer day and it is just perfect to lift my mood. I can see why people class this as a winter and night scent, but I think it would be perfectly wearable on a warm summer night. P.S. My bottle didn't have the gold charm :(

I feel like a woman! This is creamy and rich,and it gives me the feeling of coziness and loveliness.I keep sniffing and I like it each time.. It has defintely vanilla but it is not sweet!! oh i love that because that gourmand cany shop sweetness blast is not my thing. I consider this Far Away Gold a classy and golden scent,. Too bad that it is not longlasting.

I tested 4 fragrances: this, EnJoy by Jean Patou, Hypnose Senses, and John Varvatos. Avon Far Away Gold was one of the first 2 I applied. I waited about 30 minutes before applying the other two. It has now been an hour and a half and this one is the only one that still has some gumption. The rest are quieted down to close skin scents. Go Avon!

Love it!!! Vanilla and Tropical but not for summer. Nice and warm for chilly winter days and nights. This is one that sits in a lovely cloud around you I can smell it on myself all day long. I have a coworker/friend who hates it so I can't wear it to work or around her. I can see how this would upset the scent sensitive but I totally LOVE IT!

Another one by my favourite perfumer Calice Becker . Common Avon far away DNA vanilla , musk and sandalwood base. This one is beast mode , very long lasting . It is discontinued I believe but mine has macerated quite well with age and I love it . It’s not for those who don’t live grandma perfumes . I do ! They are huge compliment getters .

Got this and original far away I kept this one and gave original to my daughter. This perfume smells sooooooo good and idk how to describe but I absolutely love this one I wouldnt wear in the summer because its more of a fall winter but I def want a few more bottles of this one.

Recently repurchased this.. same 50ml size.. Why is the box a lot bigger now? I've compared it to my old one n the increase is quite marked. Considering packaging should mostly be downsizing re the environment n wastage, plus sheer cost of the extra, isn't this a bit stupid?

I am not a fan of original Far Away but this one I really like it!Its similar to original but more soft and wearable version,I was quite suprised.Perfect for autumn and winter and really long lasting on my skin.

One of the few Avon perfumes I own. This is gorgeous though. I forget about her because she's pushed to the back. When I remember her , I'm over the moon. Beautiful, sweet and creamy. So pretty and easy to wear.

Really good sweet creamy floriental that has only improved with age, peach, ylang n vanilla, I got this out today n it's way better than I remember it from when I first bought it, lasted for hours as well.

Beautiful. Very similar to the OG far away but feels lighter to me and the jasmine is more prominent. another hit.

To sum it up: Vanilla with hints of floral. I will totally repurchase! Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 9/10

I tried this fragrance from a card sample given to me by my Avon lady. It is just enough fragrance to swipe on your wrist; those adorable little glass sample vials are getting harder to come by! Fortunately, a swipe on the wrist is enough for this fragrance. Far Away Gold is very similar to the original Far Away; and by that I mean, it's like eating a sugar cookie by candlelight. It's sweet and rich, with the perfect balance of floral and vanilla, loaded with amber to smooth over all of the edges. Far Away Gold is nearly identical to the original, but if pressed I would say it is smoother and a bit lighter or more subtle. It still has good longevity and solid sillage, but it is not the mad sillage monster that the original is; nor is it quite as long lasting. I don't know if I'm influenced by other reviews, by the Avon description or by the "Gold" name, but it does seem a tad higher quality in ingredients and blending; that and the subtlety makes for possibly a more wearable scent, especially for those who found the original too brash. I don't smell much coconut at all in the original; it only became apparent to me once I was aware of the specific notes. I think Gold has even less coconut than the original, and possibly more amber and less vanilla. Far Away Gold reminded me of how much I really like the original Far Away; I'm not persuaded I need a new bottle, I just need to pull out the old one more often. For those who don't own the original, give this one a shot. Especially for fans of Casmir or Hanae Mori or other vanilla-centric florientals, I highly recommend either Far Away Gold or the original Far Away. Don't dismiss Avon--this is a gorgeous long lasting scent.

This opens up smelling like the original Far Away then morphs into a delicious creamy vanilla-amber scent with the tiniest hint of coconut and spiciness in the dry down. It's really really worth it for the dry down alone. It also seems fresher somehow. Not as cloying. All negative reviews aside, try it for yourself and formulate your own opinion. As for me I smell delicious right now. That being said I hate the bottle. I hate the sprayed on gold of the bottle. I hate the cheap tassle, it's not as pictured above with the gold jewel thing. It would have looked better if the name was written across the neck of the bottle. The whole effect is just gaudy, but that doesn't take away from the loveliness of the scent inside. Also I don't think it lasts as long as the original. Edit: I wore this to go out with my husband. He said I smelled like chocolate the whole night. This was enough to make me order two back up bottles before it gets discontinued. Also it pairs extremely well with Rihanna's Rebelle. Just delicious!

I don't know why or how, but I smell patchouli in this one. Gold is like a tad fresher, lighter version of Far Away, but not to be taken lightly. It's rather a more flowery, exotic version of Far Away, creamy and summery, and that's why I indeed tend to confuse it's name constantly with that of "Far Away Exotic". Ylang Ylang is pretty detectable, but vanilla is somehow toned down here. Amber and peach is also evident. In the winter, Far Away Gold smells rather a bit sharper -albeit still pleasant- but the season for it I believe is summer. Whereas I wouldn't wear 5 sprays of the original (formula) Far Away to work, I believe it's safe with Gold. Not because it's a watery frag or something but because it's less complex and kinda softer than her "mother" and tend to stick (to the air/clothes/skin etc) less. I actually have a back-up bottle and (if you like it) recommend the same; since limited editions as such disappear in rather a short time.

An unexpected gem! Oddly enough, this smells like Alien at first- the jasmine+amber combo is similar, and the vanilla edge reminds me of Alien Essence Absolue. In fact, if you changed out the bottle for a yellow-faceted gem bottle, Mugler would have no problem selling it. I smell a heavy dose of vanilla- not gourmand, but quite sweet, almost like white amber. It has a bright jasmine, similar in style to Alien's iconic jasmine, that is paired with a fruity and saccharine ylang. The ylang gives Far Away Gold it's own personality. Yet again both Gold and the Aliens share their nuclear-strength concentration. Overall, this is a slightly more floral Alien Essence Absolue with a lighter jasmine and strong, exotic ylang.I cannot detect any other flowers or heavier notes- it's quite simple but done nicely. I suppose it is a cross of Alien EDP and Alien Absolue, but much lighter in tone and better suited for warm weather.

I haven't tried the original Far Away so far, so I can only review this one on its own merits. Far Away Gold is sweet, floral and very powdery. I get fresh peach skin that is almost a little green, especially in the opening, mixed with ylang ylang and other exotic flowers and heaps of vanilla powder. The powdery texture and the peach keep it from being just another beachy floral.It's a warm, cozy, enveloping scent that smells like it had been created in the 90s. It could be worn in summer due to the tropical vibe, but also in winter due to the warm amber and vanilla notes. I found many of the Avons I have tried rather weak, but this is an intense powerhouse that projects well. I'll definitely look into the Far Away line further. This and Far Away Rebel are the ones I like the most out of the 14 Avons I have tried, while I found most others just okay and easy to forget or really close to other popular fragrances.

Initial blast starts of rather pine like and reminds me of Avons skin so soft bath oil - but once it wears down it forms a jasmine/amber/vanilla bomb which is not as overwhelming as the original which I cannot wear myself as the coconut and orchid are so overpowering on my chemistry. There are hints of Dior Addict in here and a touch of Hypnotic Poison which come and go and I get a whiff of sugar cookies not unlike Shalimar minus the incense and tobacco notes - this is actually a very well blended scent and I am glad I tried it - I have a purse spray and when I first sprayed it onto the box I was repulsed by the SSS bath oil note and didn't want to try it on for fear of offending others - Edit - I am less than a quarter through my purse spray and I am over this already it's just too sweet vanilla creamy for my taste unfortunately could do with some patchouli/incense to bulk it up a bit in my opinion.

So far I've found Far Away Gold to be very similar to the original Far Away, with the main difference on me being that the floral notes are lighter in this edition and just a bit less powdery. The vanilla seems a little bit more developed on me, which makes the fragrance creamier and a bit sweeter then the original edition too. I can't wear the original Far Away as I find it too strong and overpowering which sets off my migraines, but this edition is softer and much easier to wear. It's still long lasting and has a strong throw, but seems less harsh and "love it or hate it" to me, if that makes sense. I'll review it after I've worn it more, but I think I'll save the rest of the bottle until the autumn as the fragrance is very warming and cocooning like the original edition.

The first time i smelled far away gold was on a lady at my church, i thought it smelled sweet and nice but not my style. It reminded me of root beer and exclamation perfume. My mom loved it and ordered some for herself, on her it smells like deep vanilla and orange flowers. Just for fun i tried it on myself and on me it smells like thick vanilla, amber and peach. After an hour it is all vanilla, amber and osmenthus. I like this perfume, not love but when I'm in the mood for something warm, cozy, sweet and heavy i spray this on. Longevity is pretty good, i can smell it in the air around me for at least 3 hours after putting it on and sillage is about an arms length. So if you like vanilla, amber, peach, sweet, deep, heavy perfumes give this one a try

Far Away Gold smells very similar to the original. I haven’t smelled them side by side, but the similarity is very obvious. If you have one, you wouldn’t necessarily need both. This is a very, very powdery perfume. I smell vanilla, some florals, possibly a hint of coconut, and heaps of powder. If you don’t love powder, you may want to stay away. This is a warm, dry scent, so it seems perfect for cooler fall weather. Wearing this in warm weather may get too cloying. I find this scent surprisingly both strong and long lasting. I sprayed one tiny spray of this about 5 hours ago and it hasn’t faded on me at all. Worn lightly, I like this very much. It’s warm and inviting, and feels cozy.

I bought this because I'd seen elsewhere that this was Far away in its original, powerful heavy form. Sadly I am slightly disappointed, lasts for an hour on my skin if that, 3 hours on clothes. It is basically Far Away if you take away the coconut (I love me some coconut). Even though I seem like I am being negative in my review, Gold is a beautiful perfume nonetheless, it reminds me of being on holiday in Greece, sat by the blue water of the sea with the sun warming up my skin, inhaling the scent of the salt water and sun cream. I wouldn't buy again though, as this is too similar to the original and hasn't got much staying power (Neither does the original anymore to be fair 😭)

On me Far Away Gold smells very sophisticated and mature (over 25).First 5 to 10 minutes on me are confusing and too loud: ylang, freesia , orange flower fight to the death, then gradually the scent calms down to a flowery jasmine peach ensemble that gets more vanilla-y by the minute.Drydown is vanilla, jasmine and amber, delicious. It is quite long lasting but not too loud (except for the first minutes) and sillage is moderate to heavy.It also has some of the DNA of the first FA but much more subdued, it is quite sweet and can be even thought as gourmand-y because of the predominant vanilla. Great scent with excellent performance !!!!!

Sharing the same dirty, smelly, sweaty, sweet accord with Far Away, the gold version is only a bit more sharper and flowery than the original. The "dirty" element in both fragrances feels slightly masculine, or maybe unisex... For that reason, I am very surprised and incredibly happy that especially Far Away Gold smells like my crush, slightly sweaty, but perfectly smellable, with his very natural, masculine, hot, passionate, *spicy* skin scent, mixing with a sweet smelling deodorant he obviously uses. Pure pheromones... This fragrance is a beast. And I love, how right now it gives me a sensation of him being close to me...

Came across an Avon catalog in a pizza shop and bought a bunch of things (who knew they sold placemats?!) Tried the scratch and sniff and ended buying this for $12 and I am very glad I did. I smell creamy, yummy vanilla and some kind of sweetness (something baked like?) all day. It smells expensive, I got complemented on it the first day I wore it and could still smell it in bed that night. For $12!! The bottle shape with the tassel is nice though I'm not really a gold person. I recommend this and I'm reading up on other Avon perfumes.

At first spritz, Far Away Gold is overwhelmingly sweet & syrupy vanilla. After it has time to settle, the more exotic coconut and ylang ylang come out to play, with just a small splash of citrus that helps tame some of that syrup. It's thick, rich and exquisite. This fragrance goes through quite a metamorphosis - the drydown is mellow and warm, but there is the overpowering punch of sweetness you have to wait out first. I'd suggest Far Away Gold to gourmand lovers - it's edibly sweet with an exotic punch. Very delicious!

Well, because it doesn't smell like glue to all of us. On me and to me it has a vanilla-y ylangy and ambery scent with peach and jasmine undertones, very classy and with good sillage and longevity. I had a beautiful vanillary scent called Revelar Noite (or so other people tell me) smell just as burnt rubber (and worse, for a long time). And Miami Glow on me and to me smells of rancid coconut and passion flower (granted , on very hot temperatures, Miami Glow tends to turn due to the heavy components).

I'd imagine nectar to smell like this...:) ylang and jasmine covered in honey, slightly powdery, slightly tropical. The peach note gets stronger with time which I actually like and prefer over ylang. it is a better offering than many mainstream and celebrity fragrances out there in the same category. Pleasant - if that is all you need from a frag, then definitely worth buying. I used to have the original Far Away but it does not hit me as a close match - think YSL Cinema is closer.

This is the first time I order from Avon and I decided to give this one and FA Exotic a shot. At fist impression I really did not like this, it smelled too artificial, but after it settled for 7 minutes it turns into a wonderful delicious fragrance. I just turned 26 and wanted something to get me ready for my late 20s and this wis perfect! I can smell the amber like nothing else, it ́s so creamy and delicious. Love this!

I received this as a gift. When I first sniffed the top of the bottle, My take was PATCHOULI. I only sprayed the smallest amount on my arm because I was afraid of being overwhelmed by the PATCHOULI. It mellowed out pretty fast. Six hours later, I have the powdery, spicy vanilla everyone is describing. I will definitely try again because this one changes (drastically) for the good.

It's too sweet and suffocating, I don't like it but I realise why some people love it so much. It's a great quality perfume, almost like it's not coming from Avon but expensive designer perfume. Great longevity and sillage. I don't hate it, don't get me wrong, I just don't like vanilla that much, it suffocates me. But it's not disgusting like Pur Blanca, it's still wearable.

I like the 3 Far aways very much ( original, Gold and especially Infinity) All 3 are exquisite on distinct ways: original, unabashed and shameless ylang/amber/ coconut bomb (though on me it is quite soft), Gold, controlled and mature vanilla with ylang and some coconut and Infinity, whispery vanilla/jasmine, sofisticated and long lasting.

A lovely combination of yellow and white florals. Very pleasing. Almost leans a bit bubblegummy but not quite. The ylang ylang comes out strongly on me, as does the orange flower. Reminds me of a more subdued version of Roberto Cavalli, actually. The jasmine is creamy and the peach does not bother me for once. Very nice.

i think this is teh best from the range. warm and musky in the good way, not extremely powdery like the original. that scent that you would wear walking in the park in nice autumn afternoon. to me smells also a bit minty. it also remindes me of yankee candle's autumn glow. nevertheless one of avon's top 5!

I smelled a sample of this a while back and surprisingly liked it. I'm normally not a huge fan of really powdery scents but this one pulls it off quite well. I love the vanillia ambery smell. It's very warm and comforting. A very good scent for winter and it lasts quite a long time on me too!
