First Date Of Turkish Rose

Damask rose is the type of rose I love most in perfumes. I was eager to test this rather new release from Avon. The bottles are really pretty and the campaign is well made. I have issues with many rose dominated perfume, especially the almost soliflore type of roses that are very fresh. This is a bit odd, because I am the fresh floral fan, but roses are a different story to me. I love Oscar de la Renta's Bella Rosa and Armani Privé Rose Arabique. I also love this First Date of Turkish Rose. There is the oriental touch in it, that I love. It sort of puts the rose back to the soil. Sounds strange? I mean it is not the fresh cut rose with almost cloying aroma. (That is nice when in nature, but not always in perfumes, imo.) This is a warmer rose scent, and I love the opening and the dry down. Does not smell like any other Avon perfume. Yves Rocher's Rose Absolue is discontinued and hard to find, but if you loved it, this is available and smells fabulous.

The first rose scent I ever loved because it didn’t smell like a soap or an eau de cologne, but a real rose in the sun. Sooo sorry I didn’t buy a bottle while I had the chance... discontinued!

I'd been looking for a good rose perfume, and this one was also advertised as Fruity Gourmand, which is what I usually skew towards, so even though it's a bit pricier than what I tend to wear, I bought it blind. It's not everything I'd been hoping for, but I do like it. It's pretty strong, I only put a tiny spritz on my wrist and could immediately feel it all around me. The first note I picked up was sweet rose, with a hint of bergamot. As it settled I could feel it sliding more into strawberry and vanilla, and after three hours they became dominant scents over rose. Bergamot was still quite prominent. After a few more hours I could smell the sandalwood the most, and the citrusy notes overshadow the musk. It's a surprisingly enjoyable combination. Overall, I really like it. It's a nice and pleasant scent, and it is indeed something I would wear on a first date.

This is described as a floral fruity gourmand fragrance, but I am delighted to say that I get almost nothing fruity or gourmand from it. To me, it is a warm, sweet rose with just enough depth in the base notes to anchor it; I'm sure there are people who will be able to describe it better. I just feel that it is charming, strikes me as very high quality for the price, and somewhat resembles the much-lamented Yves Rocher Rose Absolue. Sillage and longevity are, I'd say, better than average.

I can smell rose but obscured by vanilla and musk which makes it kinda heavy and I'm afraid it would give me a headache in summer. There's also something sour which I appreatiate since it blends well with the sweets notes. Overall everyone who would expect some naturall flowers and fruits would be diasppointed but I still like it. It last very long on clothes.
