Foxfire

I never had this when it first came out when I was in junior high, but a lot of people that I knew had it and liked it. Wearing this now, it's easy to wear, down to earth, slightly dry green, a bit less bright and sharp than some of the other greens that were from the same era and slightly before. Clean smelling, kind of soapy, lightly (not sweet) spicy, and it is still pleasant and noticeable on my skin after 4 hours. The name doesn't really match the style of the scent IMO, but it was the name that I found interesting enough to try the perfume the first time. I can see why this became as popular as it did.

I owned a bottle of this when I was in high school, probably my first more "grown up" fragrance. I think it was gifted to me but I can't remember by whom. It's been ages since I last saw that bottle, which I had used up entirely, but I remember the scent as being soapy green, with a hint of fresh spice. I don't remember thinking of it as floral, so I was surprised to see that it contains these floral notes. It was just fresh and green to me. Makes me feel nostalgic remembering how it smelled.

Foxfire is one of the better Avon frags. I'm usually not a big fan of the big A but Foxfire is quite nice with its strong green notes. The opening is very sharp, as others have noted. The dry down is lovely, green and powdery and a little similar to Emeraude - another green Oriental. In fact I'm going to try layering the two. Foxfire deserves a try, I can see a younger demographic going for this lovely perfume. Good for work and leisure.

Foxfire is an odd name for this perfume as it is soapy green. There is a lily of the valley note with a soapy rose tone to it. Different and unusual. Tickles the nose a little with that good old Avon twang...but otherwise an OK scent. Dry down is quite nice.

My best friend and I wore this when we were 13/14 years old. Her mom was the neighborhood Avon lady, so 90% of my perfume wardrobe was Avon haha. This one made us feel grown up. We thought we were so sophisticated! It's been decades since I've smelled it - as young teens, we knew nothing of moderate application, so our bottles never lasted very long. I'm sure if I caught a whiff of it today, it would send me down memory lane. I can't even remember how it actually smelled; at that age it was less about appreciation of beautiful perfume and more about pretending I was worldly wise. I do wish Avon would re-release this, along with Toccara. Now THAT one I remember, as it was my absolute favorite a year or so later.

This smells like a bygone baddie... she was hip and dark and seductive - she had the life you wish you lived in 1982. She has money and class and knows when it's appropriate to let loose. Her wardrobe is impeccable and she has great taste in rich foreign men who cannot help but be drawn to her. She spends her free time on yachts in the Mediterranean and visits Hong Kong on the regular for work. She has fabulous homes in the Bay Area and Manhattan. I do not wear this; it is too dated and strong for my wearing taste. Rather I pop this bottle for a sniff every now and then and I am taken to this particular vision of a woman. I love to visit her in her world.

I knew a girl who dared to wear this when we were about 14-15 years old. Which, looking back, what a grown up scent to be wearing at a time when it was all about the punch you in the face with sweetness and bright note scents like Coty's Exclamation. I myself now in my early 40s own a vintage bottle of Foxfire and have a difficult relationship with it. Upon first application on me it goes on sharp and almost rubbery scented before it dries down to a powdery but still sharp floral. Foxfire is a perfume I have to apply sparingly otherwise it is distracting to me and I assume others that I am around.

A strange review: If you are missing an adult in your family- like an aunt , mother or grandmother ; and you grew up in the late 1970s / early 1980s : this perfume will remind you of those people and times. It's somewhat sweet and a bit "mature" , but the composition is very nice and cozy . Mine is an old bottle , and it stinks that Ebay has cracked down on used perfumes. However - I'm sure you can find sealed in the box bottles . AVON is easy to find on the second hand market. This is very evocative and lovely !

My first experience wasn't great with this one I feel this is one of the Avon Colognes that degrades quite quickly compared to other Avon vintages. I got my hands on a new in box 'nostalgic glow' oil lamp decanter of this and it is just gorgeous. A lighter Chanel No19 meets Estee Private collection - an earthy green rose. Natural rose and soapy hyacinth. Very lovely fresh and uplifting.

I fell in love with Avon Foxfire when available in the Avon brochure. I loved the green note and the rose. I also think I could detect oakmoss. It was the nearest scent to Leonard's Tamango which I couldn't then afford. I just might revisit this fragrance soon and compare it with the vintage bottle of Tamango in my collection.

Got a vintage of this at a thrift store. Probably a 40 year old bottle -- did not turn ! How does that happen? LOL. This is not your typical Avon. It's bright and fresh and happy. Very nice and I think by this time - Avon was trying to shed it's old school ways and become less old fashioned. Impressed by my $5.00 purchase.

I love this even if mine is probably very old. Its a soapy woodsy rose mix. Very nice and I would imagine even sharper and more refreshing decades ago. I like to layer this with the richer Capucci perfume Filly which has similar clean soapy yet sophisticated clean smell.

I had a very old Pierrot the sad Clown bottle of this it always had that vintage Avon fragrance smell to me but nothing to grab me a vague greenish rose powder. I preferred Imari, Pearls & Lace and Genesis fragrances so I never really enjoyed this one as much.

Just got my vintage bottle. It s not very strong but does last long. I can detect basil, nit sure if that s it, but its very early 80s and evocative. I ll cherish this one. My bottle is almost full.
