Magnolia

I have several bottles of this and the shower gels plus a pot of body cream. I haven't worn it for a while but it still seems fresh, and as I remember it. As with the previous reviewer, I had a Magnolia in the garden at a previous property of which I have fond memories and the smell was heavenly in spring & early summer. It does evoke this when wearing, and I am glad to have bought enough at the time to last me a long while. If you come across a vintage bottle its definitely worth purchasing, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Shampooey floral with some green notes and a good amount of oakmoss. I believe the original was released in 1974 (my bottle is older than the one pictured above). The version I have usually comes up for resale in cream or solid form but I happened upon an EDC spray that's potent for a cologne, with moderate to long-lasting power.

Review of "Beautiful Magnolia" (body mist) I looked for original Magnolia Avon but it was no more available. Instead of this they are selling a body mist called "Beautiful Magnolia". And it smells quite similar with some varieties of Saucer Magnolia (chinese magnolia blooming in early spring). Some of them smell like red wine with cinnamon, watered down honey and cherry resine and other have fresh flowery scent with notes of tea rose or lily-of-the-valley. Beautiful Magnolia Body Mist is fresh, light perfume without heavy musky base. It smells like a combination of sambac jasmine, lily-of-the-valley and transparent cucumbery freshness of crushed petals. It is a cold fragrance, it smells like flowers sniffed on a cold april/may day. And it wears better in frosty air. If you are looking for Saucer Magnolia in perfumes you can also try Orsay's L'Or De Say Magnolia - heavy, musky and cinammic or L'Instant EDT (EDT!) which captures honeyed character of some varieties - typical for saucer magnolias "strange" cold "waxy" honey note that you can smell up to five meters around trees (during warmer days and only when flowers are fully in bloom).

The first fragrance I ever owned my mother was an Avon rep for a short time and brought this home for me. I was around 7-9 and thought I was very mature to own a real perfume it was straight magnolia which for me was wonderful as we had magnolia in the backyard. Unfortunately this happiness didn’t last long as my brother and I had a squabble and he sprayed the entire contents of the bottle around the house and all that was left was a small amount in the bottom. Upside the house smelt beautiful for days. and for years up until my late teens I kept it I was to afraid to use the tiny amount left in the bottle as I was saving it for something special but unfortunately it turned and had to be thrown out befor I could ever wear it again. By writing this review I’m going to see if I can hunt down a vintage 90s - 00s bottle of this fragrance for a trip down memory lane and keep it away from my brother
