Night Magic Evening Musk

I used this years ago when a friend gave me a bottle. Nostalgia made me want to try it again when I spotted a review for it here, and I am so glad I did. I have the new bottle and maybe my memory is off, but it pretty much smells the same as the black bottle I had. A very floral, particularly ylang, powdery musk with amber and a soft incense note. Despite the name, this isn't a dark fragrance, or even a dark, animalic musk. It's actually a clean musk that is a lot more floral than something like the Body Shop or Body Fantasies, with amber, sandalwood, and a touch of incense tossed in on the dry down, though not enough where it would make it seductive or vampy. If a dirty jasmine had been used, (which I might layer this with), or even some leather notes, as it is in JHAG's Citizen Queen, it might have fit the name of the fragrance. As is, this is really just a white musk fragrance. Since musk is a favorite of mine, I really like it. Just a word of warning though. The aldehydes are super heavy on first spray. So, unless you don't mind feeling like you just had an ice pick shoved up your nose, I would suggest not smelling this right after spraying.

Since I didn't sleep well last night I'm hoping I'll make it all up this night. I'm going to take Night Magic Evening Musk in the literal way and be floated off on a powdery cloud of this pretty fragrance. I have an older bottle like in the photo and I also have the newer version. They are pretty much the same but the older one may be just a bit deeper, richer. Night Magic is one of my favorite powder bombs and I love me some powder. It is also reminiscent of Soft Musk but with more oomph. The last few times I wore Night Magic the remnants on my sweater the next day smelled like a wealthy ladies cashmere cardigan, the richest most powdery perfume ever. It smelled 10 times more expensive than it is! I keep this in the same drawer with Lorenzo Villoresi Musk and my other musky, powdery frags as they have similar qualities and effects when I wear them. Someone compared this to Perfect Veil and I suppose it is along those lines. This would be my grown up sexy baby powder! Sweet dreams!

I have such a love hate relationship with musk, a lot of musks people claim are clean actually smell skanky to me, I have no idea why. There are a few I really love, all the Narciso Rodriguez have been loves , as is SJP Lovely Those ones smell clean to me , this one goes on the love list, its spicy, musky and softly smokey. In this one, I do not smell skank nor do I smell clean, it is really well blended and balanced This is something I could see myself wearing anywhere, any time and it would never be inappropriate and I highly doubt I would ever get sick of it. I am so happy that another Fragrantican gave it to me to try out , I think this will more than likely replace SJP Lovely. I tested out another Avon perfume a few days ago, and was also very impressed, I think I need to pay more attention to the Avon reviews and place some orders!

Soft, Fluffy WHITE-MUSK, Powdered-SUGAR & ALDEHYDES. Opens with a white-floral burst of neroli, aldehydes & lily-of-the-valley with fluffy, fresh, powdery, smoky & soapy nuances, that deepens into a velvety floral heart of rose, jasmine & ylang, all resting on a fluffy musky base with shades of wood & incense touches. Overall I get a soft, fluffy white-musk & powdered-sugar scent with some woodiness. The aldehydes here are not as forward as the notes would suggest. When I was a kid, my mom gave me a sample of this which I would sniff with wonder from time to time, thinking it was so mysterious. Some reminders for me of White Musk The Body Shop, but this is a little sweeter and a little less sharp. Seekers & collectors of musk scents will not be dissappointed. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Aaah...the most beautiful, sensual, powdery musk I’ve ever smelled! My grandma wore this sparingly (she wore Jōvan and Tabu more), but I do remember my mother also wearing it. I don’t smell aldehydes in the typical Arpège or Chanel No. 5 way. It opens with a spicy almost ambery musk that is buttered with sandalwood. The modern bottle is quite bulky and generic, but the scent remains relatively the same. I own many vintage bottles such as the one pictured above and that one is my favorite! It has a stronger spice note and the drydown has a slight sharpness to it. The vintage is easy to overdo if oversprayed. Still a quality Avon scent! Pairs well with Avon Skin So Soft for that cozy, dreamy, musk smell!

My mother has worn this since its release in the 80s. This scent is my childhood and while I've never worn this myself I feel qualified to write a review. Avon Night Magic layered with dippity do gel.... that is daughterhood to me. The middle notes of rose and jasmine are nice but the base notes are where it matters. Incense, sandalwood & cedar...warm like a mother's hug; which it quite literally is for me. The arrangement of floral and musk brings you back to a decade you haven't even experienced, this is genuinely nostalgia in a bottle. Night Magic has a narrative; it's a day out shopping, a birthday dinner, a movie night at home, it's a memory, to say the least.

I used to own this back in the day and I missed it. Thanks to a kind Fragrantica friend I have it back. I love everything about this type of musk. It is powdery, aldehydic, woody, smoky, balsamic and full of deep amber goodness. Rich and satisfying but still light and feathery at the same time. Cuddly but still quite femme fatal. When I would wear this in the past I would feel very sexy. So glad to have that va va voom feeling back again. Fragrance brands need to take note bring musks like this back again. People like feeling sensual and this does the trick.

Like so many of the great Avons, Night Magic has enormous range. Yes, I’m an Avon stan and even some modern Avons sit side by side with much higher end perfumes in my collection. The genius of their best scents lies in their ability to summon magic out of the ordinary. Night magic manages to function both as a gentle creamy laundry musk for day to day and, with heavier application, a powdery va-va-voom explosion of ylang ylang incense worthy of its 80s origins. Lately I’ve been reaching for it at bedtime and drifting off has never felt so glamorous.

I'm so happy this one is listed now! One of my favourite go to's for 15 years! I used to take my mom's talc and wear it after the pool in the summer when I was a girl. I love the powdery smokey essence of this fragrance that is subtle and feminine, that is not too heavy or dated. I still wear this one regularly all year round as it remains one of my favourite Avon's to this day. I always have a tube of talc or a bottle of this in my collection at all times and probably will until the day they stop making it.

I recently bought a new bottle of this, but haven't worn it yet. I have such string scent memories attached to this perfume! Used to hang out at my friends house and she had much older sister who was an 80's queen. We used to hang out in her super cool room and try on her Avon stuff, including this, while she teased and sprayed her hair. As I recall, it is a sweet soft mysterious powdery scent. Like baby-powder, love's baby soft and Moonlight Path all together.

This is the fragrance I most associate with my mum. Sure, she loves her No. 5 and Poison the most, but she would save them for special occasions. She would go through bottles and bottles of this stuff as she'd wear it day to day, just casually. This is a polite, lightly powdery floral with some sweetness offered by the amber and depth from the musk and incense. Definitely of an era, but polite enough to be worn now. Really nice for the incredibly low price.

Oh my, I love this. I have been on the hunt for a musk fragrance someone wore in my childhood and thought this might be it. It's not the one she wore, but this was a pleasant surprise. My skin brings out a lot of the amber; it's sweet and "doughy". My style consists of over sized, cozy sweaters in the colder months, and I think this fits perfectly. I'm mid twenties and I will shamelessly wear this. However, I do wish it projected more and lasted longer.

As someone who hates musk, I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this. What was I thinking? But... I LOVE it ! It's the coziest, relaxing, comfort scent I've ever smelled. I'm wearing it today. It's a relaxing stay at home in your softest coziest sweater scent. Try this on a gloomy day where you just want to relax at home with a good book and your critters. Enjoy some coffee and just relax. This is perfection for those moments !

Who created (perfumer) this? It is so perfect! I need bottles and bottles of it. Comforting. Easy to wear. Lasts and lasts and lasts! It just sings but in that tingly baritone that just touches the heart and gives you the heart hug you need or the sweet soft eyes you needed or that comforting warm blanket you needed... Gotta get me a few backups! Avon, please never stop making this beautiful thing! And reveal who the perfumer is please.

Love it. Night Magic Evening Musk is warm , cozy powdery and has just enough sweetness.To me the musk is tamed to be noticeable but not overpowering. It's perfect for cold overcast days where you want to relax in a soft sweater , with a cup of coffee and a book. It's wonderful . It lasts forever, projects well too. Bonus points for being on sale from time to time for $7.99 ! I don't even like musk but I love this !

This reminds me of an old vintage makeup powder with a big fluffy puff sitting on a vanity. It smells like a powder scented with pretty florals. At first I wasn't sure what to think of this, but now it's one of my favorite scents! I like to wear this when I don't have a particular fragrance in mind. It's very easy to wear and goes with every season and occasion. Inoffensive and very pretty.

Oh this is lovely. I think perhaps the Evening in Night Magic Evening Musk is because it smells somewhat like cold cream. Evening in the sense of being a soothing, soft part of your nightly ritual. This is a thick and creamy musk. Super powdery. Soft ylang and sandalwood. Incense is very mild, just a hint of smoke. I find this scent extremely comforting.

Sweet Honesty's sexier older sister. A powdery, musky, warm scent with an additional incense note that is so beautiful. Truly begs to be worn at night -- whether it's out to dinner or just to bed. And similar to Sweet Honesty, it's reminiscent of classic musk scents but is definitely not matronly. Timeless, cozy, interesting nighttime scent.

This is all base notes on me, thankfully, as rose almost always clashes with my body chemistry, and jasmine usually smothers everything else. I see someone else mentioned smelling vanilla, and I do, too. The incense smell is very light, almost like a sprinkle of cinnamon. Combined with the powder, it blends into a beautiful soft spicy musk.

This was a test. For years I disliked Night Magic. Odyssey always being first choice with me. I bought a bottle of the new Night Magic,and was pleasantly surprised. I absolutely adore this mysterious beauty of incense,powder,and rose. This fragrance has become one I keep reaching for. I hope Avon never discontinues this.

Another Avon classic!! I’ve worn this off and on for many years since the mid 1980s. They main notes I get are jasmine,musk,sandalwood,neroli,incense and aldehydes. Just a beautiful and cozy perfume that is wearable year round. Longevity ahd sillage are both moderate on me and a compliment getter!!

Yes, this DOES smell identical to Moonlight Path, but it has much longer lasting power. How much you ask? I can still smell it the next day, without trying. Love, love, love....and so cheap! I even spray my wet clothing before I put it into the dryer, instead of using fabric softener sheets.

Out of all of the Avon Oldies that they have still this is the best! I don't smell anything floral maybe a little vanilla course this could be cause of the smokyness. This is Avon at its finest !

I love this, worn it for years, it is actually better than body shop white musk, this has more depth. It is very easy to wear, not overpowering at all, but lasts well and is sexy and sensual.

Finally in the database! I'm so glad I can now give a review of this historical fragrance by Avon :) I own the first version from Eighties named Night Musk - that once was of my dearest grandma - but I've read somewhere notes are the same or slightly different (doing a little research I've also discovered this is a very loved fragrance and is considered as one of the staples-best selling from Avon brand): my bottle looks identical in shape but Night Musk's one is dark purple, with the name of the fragrance written in cursive. Coming to the scent, Night Musk/NMEM is not a terribly complex or conservative fragrance as it could seem on first applications, I guess the aldehydes and white floral accord in the opening could smell quite weird and harsh to some.. but as soon as the vaguely balmy rose in the heart unveils I get kind of a velvety and relaxing feel from it, reminding of a soft wool coat in which I protect myself from the cold outside.. on my skin jasmine and ylang ylang are not prominent, I can just say there's a subtle exoticness that can be easily due to some spicy notes mixed with floral nuances, though it's not easy to point out a single note (cloves maybe?). The musky-powdery quality of this EDT gets evident in the drydown, where animalic and sultry notes melt with rich woody and ambery accents, very typical of Avon's musky launches.. musk here is enhanced and made less predictable by a diffusive and smooth incense note that, to me, feels more like a delicate smokiness than like the proper intense, church-recalling resin. There's definitely something classic about this fragrance, surely I would use the word "retro" to describe it. Definitely it makes me think of velvety violet dresses worn on romantic dinners during the Eighties. Would I get the same feeling if I knew the fragrance was launched nowadays? Who knows :) The projection and longevity are quite good, I surely can smell it on me after several hours. I'm pretty sure my grandma would be proud of me by reading this review - of course I should read to her in Italian - so this is mostly for Her and in Her memory.

I know that I have smelled this fragrance before! My mother never had a bottle of it, but I know I’ve smelled it on other people in the past. Isn’t it remarkable that many of us can, years later, remember smelling a perfume that we’ve never owned a bottle of or don’t even know what it’s called? I must say that I am pleased with Night Magic! It is a warm, powdery, cozy scent, but it is definitely not matronly. As someone else already said in her review, it is Sweet Honesty’s slightly older, sexier sister! I asked my husband what he thought of it, and he told me that he thought it was very nice. He can be brutally honest at times—especially when it comes to things like fragrances that I wear. He will always tell me exactly what he thinks about them. If he doesn’t like something, he’ll say so. And he can be very picky at times, so I was a little surprised that he liked Night Magic. I think he likes it because it’s soft. He doesn’t like fragrances that he deems to be “too strong.” Night Magic is soft and subtle. It isn’t loud or overbearing. But despite its softness, it does have good staying power. I like its smell because it’s sweet and comforting. I sprayed some on my arm one night before going to bed, and I could still catch a faint whiff of it the next morning when I woke up! I was surprised by this. There are some fragrances that seem to disappear as soon as I spray them on my skin (like Elizabeth Taylor’s Violet Eyes), and this is so disappointing to me! But Night Magic isn’t one of those. It lasts a good while. I think it’s definitely a nighttime fragrance, though one could probably get away with wearing it during the day in the fall and winter seasons.

When I smell this, I do get musk, but I don't think it smells a lot like Body Shop's White Musk. I think it's a lot more mysterious than that. I like both, but I don't find them to be that similar. I'm late to the party on this one. I'm late forties, but never wore this until I just got a bottle. It's been out for years, and amazingly, Avon never discontinued it. They seem to do that with some of the good ones. I'm not huge on Avon perfumes, but there have been a few I've liked over the years. If you like the smell of this, you've found a gem, because it wears and wears. This just has amazing longevity, and I rarely get to say that. I can spray it, and still smell it way, way after most other perfumes have faded out. Plus, I think this is more than just musk, as I find it to be somewhat sultry too, yet it still holds onto that "comfy" vibe. I'm wondering if the lotion is worth trying? I might have to pick that up too, although not to make this wear longer, as it's already a champ in that department.

I have several Avon scents, as I find that they can be a great quality for the price--if they work for your chemistry, and clean musks work for mine. If you are familiar with Avon scents, Night Musk stands with Soft Musk and Odyssey. Night Musk does not have the light, powdery rose note that Soft does, and it is not as floral (LOTV) as Odyssey, but they all share a similar musk character. Night Musk is a tiny bit dark from the incense, and a tiny bit light from the aldehydes; overall is a very enjoyable but typical musk. It's not multidimensional and doesn't develop on the skin--it doesn't even seem to warm up on my skin, as other musks do, which I would say makes this a "cooler" musk than some, a tad bit aloof. Sillage is modest, longevity about 3-4 hours before I wanted to refresh it, which is poor for a musk on my skin. Edit: well moisturized skin is key. Lasts 6+ hours on moist skin. The projection and longevity improve too. This is a lovely musk, deep and light at the same time.

Smells like jumping into a huge powder puff. I love it. Smoky Incense, antique makeup powder, warm musk, and romantic amber on soft silk purple pajamas. Smells like a perfect evening. Could wear this after a shower to bed, or after a shower to go out with someone special. An inexpensive memorable perfume. If someone hugged you while wearing this, you’d want to hold on a little longer. I’ve loved this scent since I was a teen. I remember getting a small wrist sample and I couldn’t stop smelling it. . Classic, inoffensive, comforting. Perfect color of the bottle for the scent. Reminds me of a deeper more romantic version of Heaven Sent. Like an older more sultry sister of Heaven Sent. I like wearing both before bed or just relaxing at home. Tabu is also similar if you take away the root beer scent in tabu, I feel you’d be left with something similar to this.

I was raised by my Grandma, and my aunt was an Avon lady. I remember spending hours perusing the catalog, with the scents that sounded so sophisticated. Many of my first scent memories are Avon - the Soft Pink bubble bath, and the perfumed liquid deodorant (which is still nice.) Night magic Evening Musk seemed so exotic at 14, purchased for my first high school dance. It's a simple scent really - musk and light woods, with a little smoke. Nothing too overpowering, but just right for a girl on the edge of adulthood (in those days, who knows now... probably some screaming melon concoction or something.) I bought a new bottle of this last year, and I can report it is nearly identical - maybe a touch more synthetic in the musks, but still nice and soothing. I'm so glad Avon does a decent job preserving their classics.

To me this is a cold scent - cool in nature, it suits the blue packaging it is in, if this works on your chemistry you will pull a deep sultry ylang-ylang sandalwood vibe from this and it will smell divine It actually reminds me alot of the old Impulse Merely Musk body spray (this is meant in a nice way as it is the only Impulse I would ever wear myself). If you have my chemistry which requires warm orientals, warm notes and woody undertones it will smell like moth-balls, baby powder and rubbing alchohol and Soft musk might be better suited towards your chemistry - try before you buy a great scent on the right chemistry.

Reminds me of Satya Sai Baba's 'Nag Champa' incense- benzoin-heavy- instead of labdanum; a little myrrh; champa flowers along with ylang-ylang, a touch of cinnamon; also, I notice a hint of leathery castoreum giving it a sleek, panther-like growl and lustrous black-coated elegance. Grounding the composition, a blend of vanilla-tinged, powdery musks that is much like their classic 'Soft Musk', while nodding a bit toward the smokiness of Shalimar. I'm not a huge fan of prominent benzoin in fragrances, but overall this is quite nice, obviously inspired by Indian masala incenses.

I agree with the others that have stated that this is a comforting scent. I like my perfumes to be loud and noticeable most days, but when I'm settling down in my flannels for the night I often reach for this. I have the lotion and the powders and if I use all three I can easily smell this when I wake up the next day. I don't find it to be synthetic or cheap, the musks are prevalent but I also pick up a powdery scent although I'm not sure why. I do not regret buying this one, You can find it extremely reasonable on ebay and for the price it is a nice addition to my wardrobe.

Received this fragrance from a coworker as a gift. To me, this smells like a soft vanilla musk (vanilla is not listed as a note) with a powdery incense drydown. It sits rather close to the skin for me. I have been wearing it as a bedtime fragrance after my nightly bath/shower. A very soft, and comfy scent. My boyfriend likes it on me as well. Longevity on me is about 2 hours on the skin and hours longer on clothes. My pajamas will still have this scent the next day. Overall a nice fragrance by Avon. I may purchase this for myself after my gifted bottle is gone.

This is a review for the scent, but for the perfumed skin softener. This was a blind buy but I knew from the description that I would like it. This is every "moonlight path", "Amethyst" or Lilac Musk fragrance that you've ever liked. I read someone refer to Avon scents as that "Avon" smell, and this perfume has it. There's nothing wrong with that-- I rather like it but I definitely see potential for putting this on at night after a bubble bath, so I can layer it in the morning! I might have to check out the perfume!

This is way nicer than expected. More wearable than the body shop's white musk. Maybe because it's "older" and less popular? It really is powdery but not in a baby powder way. This one is a lot sexier than some of the other powdery ones making claims of innocence. I guess it's the incense with the smoky vibe that makes it sexier evening wear. However its soft and gentle and I would wear it just as easily during the day. It's cosy and comforting. Another great one for bedtime. For sleeping or not..............

Smokey incense and delicate musk predominate this scent. It's soft, subtle and powdery, and I get a good strong dose of ylang ylang with this. I don't think there is anything particularly "evening" about this. It's so soft, subtle, and comforting, it can be worn anytime. This combination of notes is very calming to me, perhaps because there are no hard edges, nothing sharp or aggressive. It's a grown up comfort scent.

I used to wear this in my early 20s. For me the opening was quite strong and masculine. I would wear it to work in a hardware store. It would dry down to a nice musk. One day I was complimented on it by a male co worker. It surprised me at the time as I didn't think much of the longevity or sillage. I haven't smelt it since the early 2000s. I wonder if if I would still find the opening so harsh now that I'm older.

This has been around for a few decades and still there is nothing out there quite like this. A musky scent but powdered up a bit and yet with a depth that is unusually light. I don't know how else to describe it. This is not a cloying fragrance but it does have a youthful sweetness about it and there's a sparkle there also. Priced right as all classic Avons are. Really unique, long lasting and easy to wear.

Night Magic evening musk is an Avon classic perfume! I wore it in the past and its very complex but at the same time lghtly to use everyday! Not boring like some 80's fragrances may be a little mature for my age but who cares!!! Balsamic, aldehydic musk parfum. The name is just right and the bottle looks elegant and the fragrance has a good staying power! I'll look for it when it comes on sale! :)

This is one of my old favorites. I sold Avon in the '90s when my kids were little and loved all the perfume samples I would get. There is a lovely "powder with depth" aspect to this fragrance and it always smelled so nice on me. Went on smooth and stayed true for hours. I haven't owned this in years but recently smelled some at a flea market for nostalgia and realized I missed it.

Love at first sniff! This review is for a vintage bottle of "Night Magic." It smells to me like LouLou's musky, calmer sister. Like if you replaced LouLou's bubblegum tuberose with powder-puff musk. LouLou is one of my favorite scents but it's so POW that I never wear it, I save it for special moments. I feel like this could be the everyday, work safe LouLou.

This one takes me back 20 years and was the first perfume I owned. I used the whole bottle then moved onto Poison, but it brings back fond memories and I really enjoyed wearing it. I wonder what I would think of it now? I'm surprised it's still available after all these years, maybe I should give into nostalgia and get another bottle.

I put some on before bed last night, and it was still pretty strong when I got up in the morning. I think this is more complex and interesting than Moonlight Path from Bath & Body Works. Once in a while Avon has a nice perfume, and I think this is one of them. It's definitely a nice musk.

This is one of my favorite Avon fragrances. It's a very warm, cozy, and powdery fragrance. Not baby powder, but a nice makeup powder. Smoky and musky with just a hint of floral notes. Love this in the winter!

One of my faves from Avon; this is my bedtime perfume. I spray it on and sleep the night away.

Night Magic Evening Musk is one of my favorite Avon fragrances (in the navy blue bottle pictured--I haven't tried the new version). It's a light fragrance, but it's base heavy--it's primarily incense, sandalwood, and cuddly musk. I don't detect any florals. The musk here is delightfully 70s, like Jovan Musk (it's not a smell-alike, just a similar vibe). Not too clean, but not animalic either. It is seductive though, and it does have that addictive, sensual, skin-like quality. It smells like someone who took a shower with bar soap and then lit a stick of incense. It isn't "perfumey". If someone wore this, they would get comments from friends and lovers like, "My living room smells like you," not "My living room smells like Avon Night Magic". It comes across as dusky-soft, nocturnal, and naturally alluring. Like a face in candlelight.
