Passion Dance

I was craving something with rose and immortelle, and I've found a used bottle of this beauty for just 3€. It's the old one with the vertical writing. Don't get fooled by its cheesy name and cheap bottle: this is a gorgeous scent for those who love dark vintage things. When I first got it I just found it a nice perfume for the price, but it really grew on me in the last few months. I always end up reaching for the bottle when I'm going out on a Saturday night. It fits my personality and gothy style in such a perfect way that it's gaining a signature status. It's dark and opulent, it feels like a soft, dark red velvet curtain enveloping you. It is marked as an oriental, but it's 100% a chypre. Opens pleasantly sour and green, but it feels warm and opulent after a while. Makes me think of a 50s diva putting on her makeup in a dark boudoir. It's sexy and narcotic in a very mature way. Sorta reminds me of La Fille de Berlin. They don't smell alike, but they share a similar "opulent dark rose" vibe. Also, it's a great compliment getter even from the normies who usually say that my chypres and my roses smell of old lady. I sprayed some on during a dinner party, and an entire room of La vie est Belle and Sauvage wearers was delighted by it. Those same friends usually complain about my roses and my chypres, but not with Passion Dance. A guy even went online to look for a bottle as soon as I told him the name. Projection is really good on me, I was wearing 3 sprays and my dad was able to smell it from the other side of the room. I'm one to really easily get nose blind, other perfumes usually only last 15 minutes before I'm unable to smell them. This one is so present in my personal bubble that it often gives me headaches! 3 sprays are def enough. To me it evokes feminity, however it's absolutely unisex. I hope the new bottle has the same formulation of the old bottle I have, cause this really is a beauty, and a great quality perfume for the ridiculous price it has.

wow, a truly surprising gem! i'm not (or at least wasn't) a fan of avon fragrances but i ended up receiving it in a big bag of assorted old cheap perfumes. i'm a 25 year old woman so i wasn't expecting to find many favorites (though, surprisingly, i have found some that became instant top faves-mostly all a notch higher price wise though-CK mostly) this was one that truly impressed me to the point of changing my opinion from an instant strong like to a definite love all in the span of under 5 minutes. everything has mostly been said, so i'll just repeat the points i strongly agree with: very confident, sensual, down right sexy, but also mysterious and dark and with the potential for moodiness (like me, lol); for a confident even intimidating (and taking pride in being so) yet also with a strong sensual deep soft side; strong oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, corriander, rose, woodsy notes, dirty musk (but also somehow clean, strange as it sounds. or maybe it alternates through the progression overlapping at points...) all of that. if that kind of stuff is up your alley, you will love this. it ticks ALL my boxes. i will be ordering several backups, like other previous reviewers who love it too. if you believe in the hair color/tone/perfume thing, idk if i do, but i'm a warm toned redhead (more on the auburn end of the spectrum) and this scent and scents like this, with notes like in this one, seem to work very well for me and are exactly my type.

Witchy, maybe. Churchy, yes. Kinda gothic too. The scent of a woman not to be provoked. Very sexy, assertive, cool scent profile. Perfect for winter especially chilly early mornings and nights. The citrus opening is quite bold, the bitterness of the grapefruit is almost photorealistic. Shortly after come those white and yellow florals to lighten the citrus cloud; the rose gives it a dewy fresh kick; this mix of the earthy and powdery is balanced by a ~ creamy ~ warm amber and woods and spicy patchouli mellowed down in this creaminess of a base, really make this fragrance a unique experience. Longevity looks quite promising after macerating this edt. Sillage is above intimate, moderate. I see why this is NOT a safe blind buy, and not for everyone, but I love it. I see the passion associated with its name, but not of romantic symbolism. 9/10 & will repurchase. Note: this perfume smells like a herbal/woody lotion that I used to use in a hotel room my father booked for a trip, more than 15 years ago. Sensory memory is a fun thing.

I am a fan of sunny, nectary sweet white florals and creamy vanillas, so judging by the notes here, this was totally not for me. However, there was just something intriguing about it so I decided to buy it - why not try something different? I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, it has a very decent longevity and projection for a cheap EDT. Also, it's well-balanced, most importantly, not too sharp, woody, or spicy. I wouldn't call it outstanding, but it's still noticeable enough. There is definitely a dark sensual femme fatale vibe about it but it's not provocative or overpowering. Great for an evening date somewhere casual. Could be worn at the office in colder weather. For that price, I'd say, give it a try. Edit: I can't believe I am ordering a second bottle of this. I grew to love it so much, and it just got so many compliments. The name and packaging are quite silly and cheap-looking - ignore all that, this is a true hidden gem.

Wow! So glad I found this gem! A timeless beauty, ..moist...soil....air...clean...juicy... it luckely blends all very well with my skin. Beautiful patchouli/ rose scent, not loud or lineair, but vibrant, constantly moving . Its a scent with a lot of carracter and it does nt give a *...* that its that cheap and ugly bottled and boxed.... cause it knows better, its the inside that counts. Yes, I def. bought a few back ups. This is my first big love for a perfume thats rated thàt low on fragantica, it must be a love or hate . Lasts about 6 hours on my skin in a cold and humid climate and 2 days on fabric. Sept. 2022 : Again what a gem! I can t wait for autumn and wintertime to use it as an almost basecoat-scent. Plain this is a beautiful scent, don t get me wrong... but layered with a saffron or coffee scent .. oh my!.... its devine! And it also gives a lot off stayingpower and depth to weaker scents.

It must be really our body chemistry. On my skin this perfume is one of the most beautiful chypres without the least masculinity, it's fresh, almost crisp and such a wonderful skin scent that I cannot have enough of it. Lasting power is also very good. When spaying it grapefruit comes first but nowhere the pink-punch girly grapefruit, it's fun and rich, a little bit similar to Rochas femme but without the plummy dirtyness of it. but... the packaging is really awful - I'm sorry. I don't like the dull shape of the bottle, the deep red colour and tha cheapest picture and writing on the box. Like a very cheap deodorant spray from the '80-s. anyway, I bought 2 bottles now and will buy two other just in case avon 's going to discontinue this scent as it very often does with it's best products:(

One of my favorite older Avon scents....sweet ambery patchouli rose...with a hint of oakmoss and vetiver to balance it out. Very earthy but sexy, I'm glad this one is still available on ebay and has not completely disappeared forever. I wish they'd bring it back, I'd love lotion in this scent to layer it with. The patchouli is what dominates in this one---7 hours from 2-3 sprays and it dries down to a soft patchouli amber after about 4 hours or so....but remains sexy and earthy throughout the wearing. The bottle is easy to hold and evokes a sexiness as well. I don't think it reminds me of Lacroix Rouge at all (I have both)--I find them very different from each other. If you love a well made patchouli-rose-vetiver scent, grab this one--you won't be sorry!!

I strangely like it! Especially when layering it with a very lineair vanilla or otherwise sweet perfume (I advise you to experiment with different layering options though!). Mixed with something sweet it's giving the cool single but classy auntie. She's mature and sweet, and lets you try all the lipsticks in her purse. It also gives me a very grown up feeling that's very welcome after I suddenly grew tired of al the sickly sweet florals that have been on the forefront of perfume for years. Awesome addition to my perfumes. If you're looking for that little extra depth to your perfumes, or are simply a fan of woody rose perfumes, give this one a go. It's a steal for sure! A song I would give to this perfume is definitely Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac

OMG!! i finally bought a bottle.. As a teen I remember the hype at 00 ́s about these avon catallogues and all the perfume testers in - and as teenager I remember how obsessed I was about Passion Dance. Today 20 years later I realize to find it on the internet, if it wasnt discontinued and went to a local Avon shop for a bottle. This is so nice and unique! Very mysterious and sensual yet fresh and calming. This is hidden gem for sure. If somebody tole me this is a Tom Ford frag I would believe it. I am testing it right now on my wrist and if I must to describe this perfume in one word it would be “sex”. This is sex in a bottle.

This perfume is the definition of oak moss and vetiver for me. A definition of a chypre scent too. Well, I know that in reality things are not that simple but for someone just beginning their adventure in the olfactory world, this could be a good introduction in the category. I love it on snowy and cloudy days - it's like a warm but mysterious, red velvet, like a promise of a wonderful evening at a concert or a theater and then in an elegant restaurant, full of candles, best wine and food - in the most retro-romantic atmosphere. One of the most interesting and timeless Avon's scents!

Actually i want to review Passion Dance DARK (black bottle) but i couldn't find any info on fragrantica, so i thought i leave it here. Passion Dance Dark is a lighter version of Eternia Women from Armaf (98% similarity). A delicious sweet, vanilla, fruity and gourmand. The only problem is the longevity and sillage, Eternia Women has stronger sillage and beastly performance than PD Dark. But again for €6 / 50ml is this an amazing scents and blind buy worthy. I use it for layerinh with Eternia Women🥰

this is my favorite scent once ago...yes someone say it's quite musculine than feminine side Im not refuse but it very tender everytime I wear it remind me of a lady in spain come with a strong special and unique pheromone scent I dont know why ^^ ...I detect the main theme of rose in here velvet rose warm wood and spicy I feel more mature and cofident when I wear this scent not old in my opinion but like a vintage or retro scent,always be captured.

Another discontinued Avon that I love! I still have a quarter of a bottle left. Passion Dance is rather strong, and has lots of patchouli, but not so much that it smells like a hippie shop lol.One of my male friends loves it, the other one gets an asthma fit when I wear it (he prefers Avon Far Away). An exotic nightime perfume for sure.

It is a gem in Avon. When I was young, my mother used it, it was horrible for me, I couldn't stand it. Now, I ordered it and I must tell, it is sooo goood woody mossy rose and longlasting, nothing old fashioned, but still actual and modern. Take a chance to this scent 🌹🌲

A hidden gem in the Avon perfumes!!! This is a beautiful earthy rose!! I get the notes of patchouli ,musk,immortelle,oak moss,jasmine all beautifully mixed with the rose. Definitely can be worn year round! Longevity and silage are both moderate on me.

Very prominent rose scent, because of the oakmoss. I always recognise this perfume - it's masculine, but sexy and seductive. Not for everyone,though. A great woody earthy composition by Avon. Wear this at night you won't regret it!

When I wear this fragrance, it gives me power and courage. Earthy, floral and very deep. I consider this perfume one of the few unisex perfumes of the Avon just like Far Away Beyond.

It is sexy, refreshing cute and I would bye lotion too. It is for night. It is strong and long lasting on me. Don't spray on too much. I bougt this one many times.

It was complicated, and there was something I didn’t like in the opening, it gave me a vague impression of slow loudness. The cold potpourri rose came shortly afterward and it’s a beautiful mysterious attic rose, a velvet ghost, Lady Macbeth’s gown. It does have something romantic in a bitter theatrical way, It doesn’t project a lot: it is an intimate drama queen. It is not as green as expected from the oakmoss note, so I had to retry it in winter. I still enjoy it and find it intellectually and emotionally interesting. Winter edit: definitely theatrical, manages to encapsulate the diva’s red bouquet, the stage’s dust, the face powders, and burgundy velvet disguises.

Wow! It's so shocking to see how much hate this perfume gets. I got it on sale, and for the price you pay it's extremely good, and smells way more expensive than it actually is. I love the citrusy opening. It's so strong and bitter, then very soon the sweetness jumps out and you can smell the classic rose scent that makes perfect sense when mixed with the citrus. I can notice the "masculine" side of it. It makes the scent even more powerful. So if you're looking for a perfume that represents a naive woman, this is definitely not it. Longevity and sillage are very surprising, considering that Avon scents are usually very weak. This one is so good. 🌹

Strong and heady although not a heavy scent in the way a lot of Rose/Patchouli combinations can be. There is something that smells like cedar in the undertones of this giving it quite a 'fresh' feel but the Rose and Patchouli are dominant and remain so even in the drydown where the Amber, Wood and Jasmine join them. Because of the fresh quality I would say that this can easily be worn in the daytime. It's a mature scent, sillage is reasonable as is the longevity (about 6 hours on me) and still easily availble on Amazon and Ebay for a good price. A bargain.

Hugely grapefruit; was the first thing that hit me. Tried a bottle as it was on special, and have been pleasantly surprised. I don't find this sensual or heady; quite business like and I agree with some of the other reviews that it is a bit on the masculine side. But to me that is not a negative. If I had to attach a word to it, it would be brusque. Fresh, clean, and very good value. Sexy bottle, tho' I am not sure the red matches the character of the scent. Should perhaps be dark green instead!!!

This was the 1st perfume I ever wanted and my parents gifted it to me when I was 15 yo 😍 I was so in love with the smell. I was dark, it was rebellious, it was different than what my friends were wearing. Loved it. I got a new bottle a few weeks back but unfortunately the new formulation is nothing like it used to be..The original formulation was deeper, more complex, had a great performance, the 2023 formula is only a pale memory of what it used to be😔

I am for years to give it way or to keep it, off and on. Wearing once or twice in summer heat I decided to toss it (too much grapefruit amd moss) it but I 've put it in a dark corner of my wardrobe. A few days ago, at lower temperatrues, I decided to layer it with Boucheron's Trouble and the magic has happened. When Trouble is weak citrus amber, heavy patchouli and moss from Passion Dance match perfectly to my recent taste. It's a keeper!

really nice night scent !, it makes you feel very elegant and feminine at the same time . Its a bit heavy for the day, but for the evening of night it will fit to the atmosphere. I buy them since i remember, and i receive compliments about the scent while i am wearing. It remindes me more of pure red rose the one bit sour,not the sweet pinky one. This scent is mature .

Very intensive fragrance! Most of all I feel the grapefruit note. From flowers notes I would say that the narcissus note is the most noticeable. When I wear this fragrance, people usually say that it smells rich. But sometimes it opens too sour and too heavy. Anyway, I think that this fragrance is worthy. And the lasting power is great also.

When I read some rev I have a feeling that we are not talking about the same fragrance;] To me it's intensive but VERY female at the same time. It's one of the most sophisticated Avon scents actually. What is more, alot of people told me I smell delicious. I like this scent on my skin. Really high rated in my collection:)

This is one of "not for everyone" fragrances but me being a "not for everyone" kind of person I find some kind of comfort in this perfume. I always have it on me, I use it sporadically, when i feel like a bad btch and mostly when I want to repel men. Definitely winter/evening fragrance.

WOW! A really interesting scent. Exotic, spicy & oriental. You must love strong scents to like this one as it starts really, really strong but give it time ...it mellows out to an exotic, mossy & spicy smell that lasts for a while. I recommend this one for evening.

Well rounded, versatile and elegant. Definitely a gem, and the price to quality ratio is undefeated with this one! It is amazing, it smells so good with this low of a price. I don't feel it smells dated or mature, I honestly think this is timeless and unique.

i found this at a thrift store and figured i'd give it a try...mine may have gone off a bit because there is a sort of burnt hair note going on, but once i spray it on skin it goes away after awhile. i get oakmoss, patchouli, citruses and vetiver. it's quite woody and the rose takes awhile to bloom on my skin. it's heavily woody chypre on me-mostly oakmoss and vetiver.

I was given this as a gift during my teenage years, when this was still in the older retro bottle that looked like a purplish blue gift box (it was hard trying to remember the name and then search on Fragrantica, when Avon changed the design of many bottles). Anyway, I remember thinking that this was... weird. I wore it a couple of times, but it always felt like I was wearing someone else's clothes, who was definitely more grown up.

This does not get along with my skin at all. When I smelled this from the bottle and on a paper blotter I thought this would be an interesting floral chypre. It opens up harsh on my skin and I get some artificial fruits that really clash badly with my skin, then after a half an hour it gets boring chypre base, almost masculine, without any spark whatsoever. I wish the flowers were more prominent.

This one is definitely not for me, but I can understand why many people like it and even find it sexy. I smell a spicy rose, a dark one. It ́s woody and mature. I imagine a woman over 50, sexy, there something dark about her, maybe she is smoking and wearing a leather jacket. This fragrance is strong and very particular. Not a safe blind buy!

Smells like graveyard, like enormous pile of flowers around coffin, like old ladies. There is for sure nobody dancing. Something I might would wear when I am seventy... Or not even then. The smell annoyed me for hours and made me sick. Wish some others, that I like, would last so long.

One of the worst scents I've ever met in my life. It was an awful smell - I never met a girl who smelled good wearing 'Passion Dance' - and there were quite a few. Many of them bought it to try it out and got disappointed.

Has much in common with Agent Provocateur and... Nivea for man Sport Shower Gel. Okay for office. On my skin I found nothing passionate in it. It is neat and quite.
