Rare Pearls

Lady-like, elegant, and classically feminine. I could imagine Grace Kelly wearing this perfume, or something similar. This perfume's top note is angelic/ethereal - with a sweet, pure, almost whimsically child-like type resonance...very similar to my favorite fragrance Eau du Ciel. It has a quality that is innocently playful - so I could also see Meg Ryan, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz (Something About Mary), Sandra Dee, Doris Day, and Olivia Newton John (playing the innocent role of Sandy...before she turned biker chick) wearing this particular fragrance. It is light hearted...despite still being a classically elegant lady-like fragrance. This is transparent - clear - clean - without a powdery type finish. It is young at heart...wholesome. This fragrance is like the most valued pearls - soft, iridescent, gentle. This will be for the woman who prefers softer tints rather than someone who choses to wear bold primary colors. Although anyone could wear this - however, with the particular notes of this perfume - I perceive this to be more of a "blonde" fragrance - than a brunette fragrance. This perfume has great sillage... but is still fresher and lighter than someone that prefers fragrances with dark, deep, and more mysterious notes. The middle and lower notes ground this fragrance, where it allows this to be taken more seriously than a light registered soprano fragrance (like Fracas). (This is probably why some of the reviews mention that this should be worn by a more mature or confident woman). With my particular chemistry, THIS is the one that I receive the MOST Compliments on... (the second would be Beautiful - by Estee Lauder). This is perfect on my skin and with my chemistry... I LOVE IT!!! This should come with a warning - I swear ----- I've NEVER received SO MANY COMPLIMENTS from both MEN & WOMEN - as THIS ONE!!! If you are wanting to remain a wall flower - and never register on other people's olfactory radar, then DON'T WEAR THIS ONE!!! K? But, if you'd like to leave a lasting impression - This is IT! ------------- Fresh, clean, sweet, floral, and smells as if you have merged into a Monet or watercolor painting... surrounded by beautiful colors and essences. Rare Pearls is like a refined, gentle, transparent watercolor. Soft... simple, yet a well-balanced chord. Not too high noted... more down to earth with more alto notes than soprano. ------- Rare Pearls will appeal to your chemistry if you are already someone who likes florals and more of a bouquet type fragrance. If this isn't' really "your thing" then you should probably "pass" on this, and try something that has YOUR favorite ingredients in it. The Reviews are Polarizing... but don't let that stop you from trying this -- Some have said that it smells similar to Ysatis, but this is much softer and more approachable, less mysterious and more simple and pure than Ysatis. I've noticed that a lot of perfumes that I really LOVE, have polarizing reviews. Why is this? Probably - because people are trying a fragrance that is not in the right range for their personal taste, to start with. Chemistry is EVERYTHING when it comes to perfume and fragrances. On one person, a fragrance can blend with the chemistry and turn into something that is totally mesmerizing and creates a complete image and persona. On another person, this same fragrance can "turn" and bring out notes that do not harmonize, bringing out the worst elements of a particular fragrance composition... even souring the very ingredients that smelled so lovely on the person with harmonious chemistry to the fragrance. ------------- I discovered this fragrance while at my high school reunion this past summer. A woman was wearing this at the hotel and was walking down the hall leaving this beautiful fragrance trail. This smelled so good that I I had to ask what she was wearing - and she told me that it was Avon's Rare Pearls! This fragrance hits a range and octave very similar to my very favorite fragrance, Eau Du Ciel by Annick Goutal. I love that one, but it only lasts about 2 hours on my skin, then I need a refresher. Rare Pearls is now my signature home fragrance that I spray before having company over - and a lot of my friends really love this. One of my friends is a real estate executive and he went on and on about how great this smells when I sprayed it near my entry. A little bit of this goes a long way. I have also sprayed this, then walked through it - where it leaves a trace in my hair and lightly on my clothes. If you like this fragrance, try Rare Gold... by Avon. Both smell like sister fragrances and have good silage and wear for hours. Both pass my 8 Hour Test - and Jacuzzi Test with flying colors and blend very well with my personal body chemistry. Rare Pearls was my first introduction to Avon fragrances. I had always thought that you had to find the best fragrances at a department store, until discovering this. Avon has really created some fabulous scents and it makes me want to explore more of their fragrance collection. I'm very picky and selective - and Rare Pearls and Rare Gold are both fabulous fragrances with my chemistry. ------------ If you have classically liked floral perfumes, then you will probably love this. Don't be fooled by the review polarization. People are either going to love this - or hate it. You won't know until you actually try it - and see how it blends with your personal chemistry. I love it! Don't be scared off by the "old lady" comments... this is far from "old lady" and will appear great on women who really love floral perfumes! You don't have to be "old" to appreciate something that smells great, but I guarantee you that if you are someone who objects to floral fragrances, then this will NOT be your thing - don't waste your time. Find fragrance notes that YOU like, and explore them... but don't run down a classically elegant floral just because you think that this smells like your grandmother!!! Rare Pearls is ageless and timeless and I much prefer this to some of the more bubble-gum pop type fragrances that are lining the walls at the major retail shops such as Victoria's Secret and the Body Shop. ------------- Final Verdict: If you love florals, this could be YOUR thing! I like the range and chord of Rare Pearls. It is coming in at the range of an alto - rather than a high soprano fragrance like Madonna's Truth or Dare, Fracas, and Eternity. There is a grounding quality to Rare Pearls that I don't find in the higher range soprano scents. This definitely has the potential to become a "signature scent"- but only for a woman who already loves florals. I feel that the reviews are polarizing because a number of women who are not really "into" florals - have written reviews on this. Try it, see how it wears on your skin. You will know in an hour or so, if this is YOUR thing - or not... you won't know till you try it!

This is heavenly scrumptious. Lovely. Lady-like. A great floral. This is one of the more simple, less complex florals in my collection - the blend is true classic. It is elegant and works for every occasion. I wear a lot of different fragrances, have always been drawn to floral notes - This is the fragrance that I get the most compliments on, consecutively from both men and women.. I love this so much that I've also used this as a home fragrance near the entrance to my home. Rare Pearls is the first Avon fragrance that I began wearing - over 9 years ago. After wearing Rare Pearls for a couple of years, I expanded into wearing Rare Gold and Rare Amethyst. Avon has scored with these three. I wear Rare Pearls more in the spring/summer, Rare Gold more in the autumn/winter, and I wear Rare Amethyst at times when I'm wanting to shake it up and wear something decidedly "purple"! Rare Pearls and Rare Gold are my favorites - because of the way that they unfold with my particular chemistry. They are both masterpieces. I love them both and I'm so glad that I found them! Some people have compared Rare Pearls to Ysatis, however - Ysatis sets up with a much more chemical, reactionary smell - from the first spray to about an hour to an hour and a half into the wear. I have worn both fragrances and both of them draw compliments. They are both great floral fragrances. Rare Pearls is more well rounded, and has no hard edges or chemical reactionary notes. It begins soft and stays soft and huggable, throughout. The honey and floral notes are sweet and wholesome. It is something that could be worn for a more romantic date night - or can just as easily be an everyday fragrance. If you like Rare Pearls, I recommend trying Avon's Prima (the pink sheer bottle). They have different notes, but wear very similar. Both are great! ----------- Jennifer Lopez's "Love and Light" fragrance is in the same family of fragrances as Rare Pearls, so if you like Rare Pearls - you should also try Love and Light. L&L has more musk in the base and goes on a bit stronger after it is just sprayed. I see this fragrance with a slightly more watercolor bluish hue to it, like a cobalt water color wash. They both have this whimsical magical sweetness about them that draw compliments. People move in closer, just to smell this and have that sparkle in their eyes. Children love these two fragrances, it is like a fairy Princess vibe. When I've sprayed this in my home's entry way, my friends love it - it smells feminine, it gives people the warm fuzzies -- it always draws immediate compliments and people ask me what I'm wearing, or what I've sprayed in my home.

Rare Pearls, still a favorite - the blend is really amazingly well done. I remember when I first smelled this. It was 9 years ago when I was at a class reunion. I chased a lady down the hall to find out what she was wearing because the fragrance trail was so gorgeous. I have worn this about 8 1/2 years now and this is still a favorite perfume. Avon makes really good perfumes and keeps them at a price point where they are a great value. This is just SMART shopping. ------------ I just recently tried Avon's Incandessence Lotus - and although it has different notes and is more of a "pink" musky type scent - it is in the same genre of romantic, lady-like, gracefully elegant perfumes as Rare Pearls, only with a more Narciso Rodriques For Her type musk vibe. The leading top note in Incandessence Lotus is quince, which I had never noticed before in a perfume. This is a bright fruity note which is still alluring but this has an upbeat, optimistic vibe to it where it keeps there fragrance from turning into more of a melancholy, moody type vibe (which sometimes happens with perfumes like Narciso Rodriques For Her). ----------- If you like a sunshine-y lemon based perfume - try Avon's original Incandessence. It starts stronger, but begins to settle about 15-20 minutes after spraying. The dry down of Incandessence is like lemon cake. Yummy. Slightly pastel smelling - almost like a Monet painting. Soft around the edges - like soft focus photography. I would say Rare Pearls, Incandessence Lotus, and Incandessence all wear in the range of pastels - the effect is similar to a Monet painting - feminine, soft focus, soft around the edges. The dry down on each of these perfumes is approachable, huggable, where it beckons you closer... almost like a whisper. Rare Pearls has a little more strength, but the Incandessence perfumes that I mention seem to be in a similar romantic family of perfumes. ------------ If you like or LOVE Rare Pearls - try Incandessence Lotus and Incandessence by Avon. Rare Diamonds is also in the same floral range and genre as Rare Pearls, but with different notes - like peony. I would also try that one.

Love the smell of this, this is classic elegance, ALL LADY - the smell of this reminds me of the grace and elegance of Princess Grace Kelly. The body lotion and shower gel are great for layering. This is the perfume that I spritz at the opening of my home and dispense the shower gel into the hand wash dispenser - just so guests can have a great experience washing their hands in the sink. Love this smell! There's some tinker bell in here... definitely some sparkling magic that trails as you walk wearing this! I can't believe how many times I've been complimented while wearing this. I've had people stalk me for a few blocks just to ask me "what perfume are you wearing"? This is one of those where people have an altered mood enhanced state that you can see in the way that their face and eyes light up! It makes me feel pampered, pretty, classic - like everything is going to come together, perfectly! I occasionally drift away from this and wear other fragrances for awhile, only to spritz it - and fall in love all over again! Don't underestimate the things in life that make you feel like everything is ok. Living life during Covid has been unsettling, it is in the small details that keep hope alive. ------------ If you really like Rare Pearls, I would also try Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds Lustre. They are both classic, pretty, elegant. They are both in the same family of scents - and wear like sister fragrances. They do not smell identical to each other, they both have their own nuances and characteristics -- but are both definitely worth trying.

STEEL MAGNOLIA'S ♥I got the new Intense version of Rare Pearls because I loved this scent when it was released and I wanted a flowery scent for once instead of gourmand. The bottle is not nearly as pretty as the original opal bottle. This perfume smells just like real flowers, beautiful and lush. I am surrounded by flowers where I live and smell them all the time in the air and this scent is the closest scent to real flowers that I have ever came across. It is magical. It is creamy and the while flowers have no fecal indole note that I detect. It is so airy too and it lingers wherever you walk. It leaves a soft beautiful trail of delicate flowers in full bloom, For the price it’s a steal. This could easily be sold for 3 times the price. I love it. It lasts for hours on the skin I could smell it in my hair the next day!!! I will not wear it often but when I do it will be a special day. TRY IT. It is a tad old fashioned but that does not mean its not incredible. I learned a tip : I put all my fragrances in the refrigerator so the heat and humidity of the changing seasons do not spoil them you should try it you will not be disappointed with how much better you perfumes will last and smell just like the day you bought it.

Just got the second bottle of Pearls. My first one, after 5 months is almost empty - a "dose" for 3 days (maybe 2) is left:) Not opening the new one since I am now targeting for AVON's "Mesmerize Black for Her" - these are my scents! and the "AVON Lady" is to get me a sample of Mesmerize tomorrow:) which i'll try over the weekend. As the "blue" version does not suit me at all, the black got me mesmerized:) I fully reallize that not everyone likes those heavy incense-like perfumes. I just love it:) Another way - I do not like the style of all those "modern" perfumes which all smell like a carmel/fruity/candy/flower shop. And the another "past wave" of all those fresh/citrus scents reminds me of a toilet cleaner:) Heavy oriental scents are just my way:) classic, woody, balsamic, heavy, incense, powdery, musk, patchouli..... YEAH!!! I could wear patchouli scent only:) I'm so very close to find MY scent:) btw. where and how do one finds "the honey" notes in Pearls??? The perfume is more bitter than all those flower&candy shops. pls explain:) and also (since I am new to perfumes - what is the diference between sandalwood and the australian sandalwood:) - never been to Australia:)

Just bought it:) I once felt it when shopping - only one person was there - so i asked her about the name:). She even gave me "a try" since she had a bottle in her bag. Always remember to ask people about the name of the scent when you like it!!! I am so in love with this scent. This is surely my signature:). It reminds me of an indian incense sticks - "nag champa" or "jai hare krishna" which i could burn all the time and now I can have this magical scent everywhere i go:) The only thing i do not like is that i have to wait for about one to two hours before it gets like i really like it - but feeling the transitions is also an interesting thing:). Also I do not really like the bottle design, but that does not bother me at all. It is very long lasting - as I am wearing this now - I am very curious what my boyfriend will say when he feels it this evening:). More to that - what my coworkers will think when i enter the office on Monday:) after many hours after i started to smell like a pure sandalwood - that scent reacts to temperature!!!! many hours early morning i smell a limonette:) Longevility of RP as its transitions is/are unbelieveable!

Rare Pearls, where have you been all my life? You are GORGEOUS, Rare Pearls! I just became an Avon Sales Rep. Of course, I love many brands of fragrances, but I am just discovering the world of Avon. My mother's best friend sold Avon for several years when I was growing up, and I remember some of the products from back in those days, but it's been a while. I used to buy a few Avon Products from an Avon rep who sold them out of a wooden cart kiosk in a shopping mall where my husband and I once lived, but that's been many years ago, and sadly I don't think they have those any more. Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun ordering some products and making new discoveries! Rare Pearls is so beautiful. I own several fragrances--some of them are expensive department store brands--but Rare Pearls can easily compete with most of them. It smells like a high-end fragrance but at a fraction of the cost. It is very elegant. I would say it is more of a special occasion fragrance or one to wear at night. It could be office-friendly depending on the nature of your business. I wouldn't wear this on a sweltering hot summer day, though. Well done, Avon.

What a beauty! Rare Pearls is the BEST perfume from Avon. From all of them (and there are quite a few) I can choose less then ten that I think are good or very good. This would be my first choice. I like the old and the new one, even though I admit there are some small differences. I have an almost full 50 ml bottle of the old version and the new one also. Having them side by side, the old one is stronger, sweeter, the magnolia is more proeminent. The new one is not that strong, but it is almost the same fragrance. I rembember how I got to love this, little by little...I first got it 15 years ago, and it grew on me since then. I have an emotional relationship with this fragrance, due to all the memories it carries for all this time. The notes? Powdery magnolia, musk, honey. It is very flowery, somehow makes me think of a spring garden with white roses and freesia. Honey is also there giving it a nice sweet veil... I simply adore it...

If I was going to be stranded on Gilligan's Island and could take a case of perfume but just one scent, this would be it. Love love love it. I just love this. It is so fresh, clean, feminine. Rare Pearls had me from hello. First spray, done. Loved it. I like going to sleep smelling this. There is just something so lovely about it. For me, it's the absolute best of the Rare line that Avon has. Update: if I don't wear this for awhile, I'm surprised again at how much I love this. For me, it could be called Magnolia Rosewood. This is the perfume that made me realize how much I love the smell of magnolia. It's feminine and classy, reasonably priced and long lasting. It's really a great go to. Normally I do not spray perfume on clothes but I do with this one because I love the scent so much -

This is an elegant white floral perfume that makes you think of glistening white satin gowns and pearl necklaces so it would be absolutely perfect for weddings or a debutante party. Creamy magnolia is at the heart of this perfume, with gentle accents of pepper and woods to give it a delicate and clean feel. It projects about an arm's length for 4 to 5 hours before settling into a soft scent bubble that lasts for days if sprayed on clothes. It comes in the standard bottle for the Rare line in off-white, and while there's nothing particularly special about it, I appreciate the practical size and shape that makes it easy to apply and keep in the bag. And of course the Avon price is unbeatable. Definitely worth a try if you want to smell rich and elegant on a budget.

Rare Pearls, Is My Favorite Spring Summer, Fagerance. It's A Sultry Magnolia, Spicey, Musky Plum Creamy, Honey Flower On Me It Doesn't List It, But I Vibe Gardenia Too. A Slight Hint Of Patchouli, Deepens Th Balanced Sweet To Womanly. It. It's A Wight Floral, Day Or Evening Sent. It Doesn't Yell At You, But It Makes You Aware It Exists, It's Ultra Feminine, Softly Sweet And Alureing.It's Also A Head Turner, And It's Very Affordable, A Little Spray Goes A Long Way. I Can Also Wear Florals Too, So Long As It Gives Off Being Not Boring!. This Is A Woman With A Heart Sole and A Brain, The Fresh From The Shower, Ivory Soap, Disappearing Shy Vibe, Guess What I'm Thinking Vibe, Is Not Me. I Don't Need To Yell at You, But I Need To Stand Out Pleasantly as Interesting!

I bought a mini of this perfume today on a whim, not my first try though, as I had a full bottle a while ago and another mini afterwards - that is to say this is definitely not one of the many fragrances I got bored with and never bought a second time. No, this one is definitely a favorite for me! I must say that it's much more floral than most of my perfumes in my collection (I'm a gourmand, sweet smells lover), yet it has a warmth to it (probably from the honey note) which makes it so balsamic, feminine and comforting! It's both elegant and casual and indeed - as another reviewer suggested - reminds me of an expensive white cashmere sweater. Both youthful and classy, suitable for almost every occasion. Also, a very affordable drop of luxury.

My mother purchased this years ago, when it launched. I’ve never been a big fan of Avon scents (Lahana being the exception), so it was very surprising that I liked this enough to convince my mother to give me the bottle. I was in my early 20’s at the time. It has such a unique scent, it opens with a very deep, warm whiff - if anyone remembers those plastic bath beads that had oil in them that were around in the early-mid 80’s, this scent reminds me of those. Like I said, it’s a deep and warm scent, very soft - not “soft” as in barely detectable, but “soft” like a cozy sweater or blanket. For me, this scent shines on cold or chilly days. I liked it enough that I purchased another bottle second hand.

A clean musky white floral, well composed and a great daily wear. Lasts around 5 hours but is a skin scent by the 2nd hour. I pair this with the Mango body mist from The Body Shop, which gives it a tropical fruity body and the florals become more airy, whilst the white honey becomes a bit more sweetened and the musk gets a bit deeper. It's almost like you're walking in a white floral garden eating a ripe, but tangy mango with the lightest drizzle of honey to sweeten the tang. Makes this even more compliment grabbing 8/10 on its own 9/10 when used with the Mango Body Mist.

This is such a beautiful scent! I get a very soft honey and baby powder element with an airy magnolia in the first spray...I love when the floral isn't too strong, but noticeable- and this one is just so pleasant. It's a very sweet and soft and feminine scent. I am super happy with this and plan on wearing it a lot! Sometimes Avon puts out some real stinkers, but sometimes they release some beauties and this is a definite keeper! I've sprayed three good sprays and it's not headache inducing at all. Hopefully it lasts awhile. LOVE this.

This took me by surprise. Got a sample and it’s good, really rather good for Avon. It does remind me of Pure Poison pre-reformulation (I tested the current version and it disappointingly just disappeared soon after spraying, not worth the ££). It also reminds me of the discontinued Victoria Beckham perfume and Burberry London (but a way less screechy version of the latter). This is good for days when you want to keep it simple, pretty and airy. Waiting for my full size bottle to arrive.

Love my Rare Pearls! Fresh, simple, elegant. It used to be a lot louder, but either the formulation changed or my nose. The one I have now is a moderate to strong silage and lasts all day on my skin and clothes. This is my thinking, concentration, hard work perfume. I wear this when I want to work effectively for long hours. Plus, it's given me more compliments than any other perfume in my wardrobe. Although, I wear this for me when I want to run full steam all day.

this opens with something that smells exactly like neroli, then quickly disappears and i get magnolia, musk, honey and sandalwood. i do not get a ton of plum here, though that seems to come forth more, along with woods, after several minutes, adding some sweetness, but not too much. there is a slight booziness here that reminds me of white wine...i think it's the honey/plum/florals intermingling. all in all it's a woody white floral that is quite pretty.

One of my ultimate favorite fragrances. This smells so much more expensive than I had previously anticipated. I love it and the intense version (not in the database). Extremely feminine and amazingly long lasting. In my opinion, this does not smell like Pure Poison... I have both. This is beautiful on its on and I appreciate it greatly. Whenever I wear it I can't help but think to myself "Man, I smell good!" Back up bottle worthy.
