A very good rose fragrance, to my nose--realistic, with some green, not terribly sweet, a little piquant. This is the third of a trio of vintage 0.5 ounce bottles in their original boxes from my wonderful rummage-sale-savvy friend Cat. It's a much truer rose accord than I'm getting in most contemporary scents, but maybe that's because I grew up smelling rose scents like this, not the current, more peppery-citrussy, "modern" iterations. This smells to me like some lotion that I used to have, rose-scented, naturally--and I think it was by Avon! I smell a lot of rose soliflores because I am always on the hunt for the perfect rose fragrance, and who would have thought that one of the closest approximations would be a forty-something-year-old formulation of Roses, Roses by Avon!

Roses Roses is definitely the rosiest of the Avon roses (and this is definitely the most times I’ve ever used “rose” in a sentence). To a Wild Rose is bramblier and Régence has dainty aldehydes and violets. While Roses Roses has other notes beyond those listed here (I get a distinct citrus and galbanum opening along with a supporting geranium in the heart) it is essentially a soliflore — even the groovy 70s nitromusk, while definitely detectable, serves more deepen this velvety rose than to announce its own presence. I’m quite impressed by this little edc. It honestly reminds me a bit of Serge Lutens’s La Fille de Berlin, although Roses Roses is certainly less spicy. Another solid entry from Avon’s glory days, all the more impressive given its approachable price point.

One of my favourite scents as a child and growing up with a Grandmother who sold Avon. Beautifully crafted, this scent was soft and delicate and sat well on my pale skin. It was a fragrance that took me right through to early adulthood as I loved it then as much as I did as a child. I haven’t bought Avon for a few years now as my grandmother has since passed away, but I’m sure if its formulation has stayed the same I will still love it today. A great perfume that I have fond memories of. Another great rose is Tea Rose made by The Pefumers Workshop. I wear this in the car when I’m with my mother when we get together as she gets a headache if she smells some of my other scents. But she never complain about this one or Tea Rose or actually Demeter ‘s Baby Powder...

Freshly cut dewy wet rose with a light musk. I usually describe it as a soliflore. You can find various sizes on eBay ranging between $10-30. I have a 5 oz bottle in the shape of a candlestick I got for maybe $25. Of the 3 perfumes in this family (Roses, Roses, Honeysuckle, Jasmine) this is my favorite. They all have held up extremely well, especially considering how old they are. After about 4 hours you're left with a light skin scent. I mostly wear this is spring and summer but occasionally wear it in the winter when I need a a reminder of spring.

One of the most decadent rose scents I know. These roses are slightly past their prime, wilting and dying in a vase. The vase water is here too, and this vase rests on a marble slab in a crypt. Slightly metallic. The older bottles with clear, non-pink liquid are best. One of my friends used to call it "funeral scent" and liked to spray some on whenever she came over to visit. The only drawback is it's short-lived at a couple hours, but a fine experience while it lasts. A must-have for goths.

I'm on a vintage-fragrance buying binge, and since I love roses so much, I decided, based on the reviews here, to buy a bottle on eBay. I LOVE this perfume! It's a simple fragrance, smelling just like roses. Not too sweet (thank goodness), not too dry. Subtle, but present. Not very long-lasting, though. This is what I want my pillowcases in a high-end hotel to smell like--a rose on the pillow. In fact, I'll sprinkle some on my pillow tonight.

Roses, Roses is the scent of rose-scented anything to me. I bought it in one of Avon's pretty 1970's bottles for the decorative value, and was transported back to a bathtub full of bubbles in my childhood home as soon as I smelled it.

I love Roses Roses this is so beautiful smelling and very nostalgic, as every time i smell this, it takes me back to my childhood and my cute Avon animal bottles.Lucky for me i kept them.Rating 10/10.

While helping my mom (81) declutter I stumbled over an ancient 5ml (I think?) tester vial of this with maybe 1ml of light ambery colored liquid still inside. I`m just putting this bit of info as a little disclaimer of what state my little sample might be in. She couldn`t remember even ever getting it, but she has been living in that house since the late 70s... so... yeah... this is very likely a very oooold and also a tiny tiny sample. That being said, yes, I have to agree with many of the other reviewers, this is a very realistic soli-note rose fragrance. Not a fresh living rose on the stem, but more baskets and baskets of highly fragrant plucked rose petals. I`m getting no or maybe only in the dry down very very little musk. I trust the notes that there must be some even if just for fixating the rose`s longevity, but it has nothing to do with our modern loud soapy or fluffy musk notes we know from modern perfumes. I think the closest any currently available product may come to this is if you find a very high-quality Indian rose water (gulab jal). That`s pretty much what this straight-up smells like, just less fleeting and a lot more long-lasting. It`s not very loud or oppulent, it just makes you smell gentle and... well... like a rose. Longevity is actually pretty good on me. I`ve been wearing a few dabs on a pretty hot summer day today and even if it`s a bit of a skin scent, I do smell positively lovely. Like I just took bath with a very luxe rose bathing bar, just minus the soapiness. I`m not a huge rose fan. It`s really not my favorite note. But this is nice, at least as far as what I can tell from my little sample. Solid like for me. Also, I`m sometimes so happy my mom doesn`t just throw away things all that easily. What a little precious glimpse into a bygone era of perfumery. And ALSO, goes to show that you can duly ignore perfume expiry dates, as long as it`s a quality product properly stored and as long as you can trust your owen eyes and nose.

How lovely! I am a rose lover and it's easy to lure me in with the promise of a rose note, especially if the fragrance a soliflore. Roses Roses delivers. It is pure, realistic, and refreshing. Nothing powdery or soapy about this rose; this is no bottle of bath salts or talcum powder. Instead, the scent is just like a newly opened rose in a garden just after rain; fresh, sweetly clean, a little watery. In fact that watery crisp quality is what gave me a funny moment when I first opened the bottle - it was there, and then it was gone, but for a brief moment I got the impression of a floral, carroty, water chestnut. Thankfully on the skin it blossoms into a true rose. The sillage and longevity is typical of perfumes in this price point, which is to say unimpressive, but not every perfume has to be a powerhouse. My favorite thing about vintage Avon perfumes is seeing people get excited about whichever cute little bottle they found it in. I was lucky enough to find this in one of the Frisky Friends bottles - it's shaped like a kitten playing with a yellow ball of yarn that's actually the cap :) I love packaging that can evoke such a positive response. There's something to be said for playfulness and delight.

A basic tea rose with a touch of lemon on top and soft skin musk below. For the money (vintage can be found for around $10) you're looking at an excellent fragrance. I find it similar to Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose, but not as rich or deep. The cologne concentration yields three hour longevity, with a fairly simple drydown, but all told it's a well made linear rose soliflore that boasts a bit of natural oil and smells crisp and clean. Unisex, despite its marketing - I use it to complement Thayer's Rose witch hazel after a good shave.

RR is a lovely Avon vintage. Slightly lemony and soapy, RR really is a true rose scent. Modest sillage and lasting power make this perfume completely work safe. It's a feminine scent from an earlier era, and thus may not appeal to those with contemporary preferences. I think this vintage perfume is worth a try, however. Unlike the piercing sharpness of YSL Paris RR is perfect as a after bath splash. A few dabs at pulse points add a light, refreshing aroma that sticks close to the wearer.

I bought this mostly for nostalgia purposes, as I remember this being at my grandmother's house when I was a little kid. It smells just as I remember it, a very strong sweet powdery rose. It doesn't last very long, but when put on top of a vanilla lotion (I used Avon's Vanilla) it deepens and smells divine. Again, not necessary to own but I'm very glad that I do!

Realistic rose soliflore. A bit sharp at first from citruses. I think the intense greenness is attributable to galbanum, it also has touches of geranium and lotv. Bitter, herbal, powdery, and a bit spicy. It becomes soapy, with sandalwood and clean musk in the base. A similar profile to the original Yardley English Rose perfume, or maybe a less dynamic alternative to Tea Rose. None of the classic rose soliflores I've tried are exactly what I would call, "natural smelling", but this one is notably more soapy and high-pitched than a few of the others. Considering how low the price is at flea markets and thrift stores, it's worth checking out. It might agree with you. I prefer PW's Tea Rose and Kuumba's Arabian Rose.

Some of my favorite Avons were the single note florals--Raining Violets, Honeysuckle, Hawaiian White Ginger and Rose, Roses. They were accurate to the flower scent in nature, clear and clean and pretty long lasting. The composition is very simple and basic---(They made a White Rose, too, I think and it was higher pitched and greener than RR--which is clearly a pink spring rose!) I am a sucker for flowers in life and in perfumes. I decanted a roller ball from my big, figural bottle of Roses, Roses and will wear it this June!!

I love, love this fragrance! It's simple as can be and perfect for that, just a delicious handful of rose petals. It is equally fresh, creamy & spicy so it feels like the real flowers are nearby. It's not current in the sense of being fruity (or dirty), but it also doesn't feel dated, just different. I remember this from my childhood & recently treated myself to a vintage decanter of it (a pink figurine of a girl holding a kitten). If Avon ever brings it back I'll be buying as much as I can afford!

Nice. At first sniff, completely alcohol, as it true with many Avon colognes. The heart is rosy, classic, soapy, and (this might be the aging) even a little dusty/woody! Not bad, if you like me want to travel back in time and recall how your great grandmother's rose scented soap and cologne likely smelled. The minuses - Does smell dated and is very light in concentration. The pluses - Time travel on the cheap! Makes a nice after bath splash. :D

Nostalgia time. Just had a look at Google Images and that brought back memories of the gel fragrance in the rose shaped pot, the rose soaps, the cream perfume. Avon had some great kitsch packaging in the 70s.

A few drops is like immersing yourself in a rose bush all day. This is a powerful, delightful, realistic rose from the excellent 70s era of Avon.
