Wild Jasmine

I love this! Ordered a bottle off ebay on a whim. Jasmine is my favourite smell and I've been looking for a jasmine-forward fragrance I really like for ages. This is perfect! It's very realistic to the smell of the jasmine flower, with a warm carnal undertone that I adore. I guess it's just jasmine but I would've believed it if the notes had had a tiny bit of amber or some incense in there as well! On me it's more of a skin scent, but it lasts all day & perfumes generally don't project that well for me anyway. I don't find it soapy or green. Great take on jasmine, not the more banana/fruity jasmine or overly watered down clean jasmine you get in a lot of modern perfumes. Smells really gorgeous & timeless.

My friend Cat picked up a perfectly preserved bottle, still full, in its original packaging, and it smells lovely--truth in advertising, a jasmine soliflore, just what the title promises. Despite the "wild" part of the name, this jasmine isn't remotely indolic; it's more like the kind of jasmine that you would smell in a nice soap or lotion, not so much night-blooming jasmine on the vine. It projects quite well for a cologne, but I find that to be true of most of my vintage Avon colognes, perhaps owing to concentration over time, perhaps just another harbinger of the general dissolution of quality in mainstream consumer goods.

I really like this. Normally i'm not that fond of Jasmine bit this one i like very much. Longtivity and projection are above moderate and it's quite strong for this oldie.

i found a partial splash bottle at a thrift store. it's a pretty indolic jasmine that smells fairly realistic. i sense a hint of green from the jasmine leaf. very pretty for summer.

I'm a big lover of indolic, humid, narcotic jasmine, so I was excited to try this based on the reviews. I bought the 1.5 oz spray in the silvery box. It is a decent sambac jasmine scent but sadly it's also infused with that cheap-smelling Avon accord that was often used in Avon perfumes from the late 1960s to the '80s. I agree with the reviewer below who notes an incense (frankincense) warmth in the basenotes. That cozy, incense-y drydown is my favorite part of the whole thing - the only part I truly enjoy because the "Avon-ade" accord has died away by this point. The box is really pretty.

Avon's Wild jasmine, is rather a startling jasmine soliflore. It's a very bold and direct scent. Of course, as with many/most white floral fragrances, this is mostly or entirely a synthetic accord, ...and as such, it can really be made to smell like any jasmine that the perfumer may wish. In this case, Wild Jasmine opens with an overdose of methyl anthrilate, bending the note tartly sweet, like bubble gum or candy. This effect is often associated with tuberose, ...but it can also suggest the rarely encountered (in perfumery) pink jasmine! (Jasminum polyanthum). However, soon the scent does become more dirty and indolic, therby evoking royal jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum). It does make for a quick trip from candyshop to bordello! Later, in deeper drydown, it all softens into a warm white jasmine glow. Presumably, that listed note of 'jasmine leaf' is only a semi-poetic way of mentioning some greenness in the blend. First released by Avon in 1979 (and my bottle may be nearly that old), this Wild Jasmine is a deceptively simple, but rather potent potion, That old white magic, indeed! I must remember this for when a full and multi-faceted jasmine experience is what is demanded.

I was gifted a small cologne splash of wild Jasmine and I was quite surprised by how beautiful it is. my bottle is from 1979. It's a very intense indolic Jasmine. I don't smell anything else in it besides Jasmine so I think it'll be really good for layering. it reminds me of the Arabian oil Full by Al rehab. Except wild Jasmine doesn't have the smokiness or the spices that are in full. It's quite long lasting for a cologne. sillage is moderate and Longevity is about 3 hours. Its very beautiful and quit addictive for anyone who loves Jasmine. I'm glad to have it in my collection:)

A true indolic jasmine! Smells like the real flowers, right down to their animalic attitude. If you only like sweet, fresh jasmine, then I'd recommend looking elsewhere. This has a distinctly 'dirty' edge which is quite accurate and memorable. Moderate longevity and sillage. Totally timeless!

I don’t get the dirty note, to me it smells like a soapy jasmine, a lot like the dry down of Al Rehab Full. It is a beautiful scent, truly timeless.
