Gold (Oud Wood and Dark Vanilla)

And this is where it all started for me. Bought the deodorant and loved it. Then the shampoo. Then I found this on eBay and loved it as well but it only lasted an hour or so. That's when it hit me: I bet I can find this scent that will last much longer in a men's fragrance (cologne). I was off and 50 bottles later I've found so many awesome fragrances but nothing exactly like it. And honestly, that's ok because I still use the deodorant and it mixes in nicely with my other vanilla based fragrances. Like others commenting here, I do wish Axe made a stronger fragrance only version of this. But, they aren't really in the fragrance market and are focused on cleaning/shower stuff so I'd be stunned if I ever found an Axe Gold perfume strength bottle. This isn't supposed to be unisex and is marketed to males. I suppose women could wear it as well but it's not a sweet vanilla. A rather masculine take on men's vanilla lacking sweetness (a GOOD thing for us guys!) and with a woody note to it. Love it but also hate it because it has cost me a lot of money by reigniting my passion for fragrances that had died after my college years. I gave up trying to find something exactly like this in a fragrance but still happily use the deodorant and shampoo. Yes, this still exists on eBay (can't find it elsewhere in the States) but it's too expensive for how long it doesn't last. I do indeed think the scent is great. An absolutely perfectly mixed vanilla for males but there just isn't any value at $20 for this as it's here and gone when you put it on.

This one is very nice. Especially the daily fragrance version which is an EDT concentration with a soft atomizer. It costs about 5$ ( I paid £3.50 in UK) for 100ml If you wouldn't know that it's an Axe/Lynx this one can easily come across as a much much more expensive designer release I really like it I have deodorant, bought a shower gel and also this funny 'daily fragrance' now. I genuinely like this smell a lot !! It's great for layering and on its own Warm spicy vanilla. Decent longevity and a very good projection for the first hour or two. Well done

I use this as air freshener, last about 15 min in the air. But I’ve actually used this as a fragrance 2 times and it lasted for about 5 hours (strangely enough). Put the projection is massive the first 30 min, so I recommend to spray it 30 min before you leave the house and just sissy spray directly when you leave the house. When you’re doing this it’ll last you 5 hours and project very loudly the first hours

Dark Woody Vanilla ... Nice recreation of a dark vanilla with hints of predominantly patchouli, but also tobacco leaves, pink pepper, oud, & amber. Unisex leaning masculine. I'm surprised by how nice it is. Oud here is partially built from patchouli and ambroxan. This is a common base for many popular scents including Noir Tom Ford. For what it is, it's a love for me. Enjoy!

If you close your eyes and smell this on your skin (at least mine!) you could be fooled for smelling a high quality niche-scent! I also tried to wash it off my hand later and I could still clearly smell the deep, warm vanilla/oud-combo. Two thumbs up for a ridiculously good scent for an equally ridiculously cheap price!

this is completely unisex..i consider it even more female and although being a barbie girly girl i actually bought it for myself coz the resemblance to Dior Dolce Vita crossed with Dune (for women) is striking. sweet and spicy.👌🏻💋 edit: in the drydown this is more a dupe of MJ Decadence edp. wowzy

The fragrance of this is not bad. As people have mentioned, it does have a resemblance to Tom Ford Noir. You definitely get the Vanilla and Oud, but at the base of it all there is an animalic note that is fairly dominant, similar to the Civet in TF NOIR. If you can get it, do so.

I have the perfume (edt) version of this which is available in asian countries only i believe. And it's really smells great for the price reminds me of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. It has an average performance and projection but it's a great value.

Probably the best deodorant you can get for this price. It’s a super simple soft oud and vanilla scent. Its simplicity makes it great for layering, to add a dark oudy base to your fragrance.

The best value for money od you want to have vanilla fragrance. Cheaper version of Mercedes Benz Club Black for men. Great longevity and performance 💎Highly recommended by me

Tried it the other day, and man was it good, a fresh oud vanilla with a woody undertone, i loved it for the price, nice quality and it lasted a while too and only 6 $.

I have the EDT of this and honestly when I saw Tuxedo in the related section I almost laughed cos I really do get the link. This stuff is great.

Vanilla always king of men's fragrances and you add wood to that? For 4 dollars this is great. 6/10.

Not bad, Axe, not bad. It should go without saying that there is no oud or anything like it in this fragrance. With that expectation managed, Axe Oud Wood and Dark Vanilla proves considerably more pleasing and less abrasive than other Axe/Lynx offerings. I have the 'daily fragrance' formula, which gentscents assures contains a higher concentration of fragrance than the deodorant body spray. Aromatic and sweet throughout, this scent features a particularly nasty opening (not sure if it's an aromachemical, a deodorant, or a propellant), that thankfully rolls off quickly, leaving a somewhat powdery, linear carob, woody, vanilla experience. I find that it works best applied lightly over large areas - the ambient sillage seems to be more appealing than the whiff close to the skin - and that performance is far from shameful for such a cheapie. Easily unisex. Not sure who would wear this or for what occasion, but it's not half disgusting as expected.

No oud, but an extremely pleasant scent at a more than reasonable price. I blind bought this for about 6 € and have been using it as a body spray through most of the winter, where it mixes perfectly with most sweet tobacco scents and is excellent for layering.. I have the Body Perfume version (sic) - not deodorant but with a pump action spray instead of aerosol, and am actually pretty impressed - longevity is not very good with about three to four hours of projection, but the scent itself is great with vanilla, tobacco, patchouli and some spices, could be clary sage. To doccoflaco below : I see no resemblance to Ferrari Silver Essence whatsoever (no coconut at all), OWAV olfactorally for me lies somewhere between Fendi pour Homme and Tom Ford Noir Extreme. Overall a great bargain that punches well above it's weight.

On those perfumes claiming to include oud , people always comment if it is really oud or something else , if it is a natural one or one of an artifitial variety .... Oud is rare , distant and has many varieties , so I think very few actually know what they are talking about . And , of course, that includes me . I know oud only for smelling a few perfumes . Oud is not something like lemons or rosemary , like leather or grass , that we meet on our daily activities ... That said , I like a lot what I believe oud is . And I think oud is present here , alternating with vanilla for dominance . Inexpensive, available , with a deodorant and a shower gel complementing , this is a good one to start with . I also tried it layering in various combinations . A good smell.

This is my winter and fall fragrance. Sweet, woodsy and has a bit of that oud bitterness/smoke. Synthetic, like most of the stuff on the market these days, but does not induce nausea or head pain. Impossible to wear during the summer, as it reacts with body chemistry and sweat in a weird way. This is a rather strange fragrance, as it tries to imitate Montale and Tom Ford offerings, but fails to be "premium" enough to be considered occasional. It has a moderate longevity for 5-6 hours, and a decent projection for up to 2 hours. This is a very nice fragrance for the winter, fall and works better in cold weather/climate. If you want a cheap Oudsy fragrance, which is sweet smoky and slightly bitter - but not a niche - take it. 7 or 8 out of 10.

So, i had this fragrance for a while and i still love it. Last year i tried Tuxedo in duty free Malpensa, i got a sample of The Tux by Maison Alhambra, i bought a bottle of Kismet for Men and a bottle of Turathi Brown and i can definitely say that the EDT of AXE Gold has really high similarities to those! Don't get me wrong, Axe Gold is not a direct clone but it has literally the same vibe of Tuxedo, just with more woods and no rose, is basically a twist on that DNA. I saw i'm not the only one who detected the resemblances as 6 other people voted for the Tuxedo similarities, nice :)

I bought this because I wanted a woodsy vanilla for cheap, and yeah it does that quite well, although to me it smells more like a fresh vanilla. The new updated packaging actually calls it "Oud wood and fresh vanilla scent". I find it to be a tad sweeter than expected, but overall this is more or less what I was expecting a unisex, slightly masculine leaning vanilla to smell like. Also for some reason it reminds me of Al Nashama by Lattafa, the drydown part. Must be the amber and the patchouli. The initial projection is kinda suffocating.

What a magnificent creation, the second best Axe fragrance in my opinion. The oud in it is just a generic woodsy note which is mixed with a blast of dark vanilla and some patchouli in the background. It's a very elegant and mysterious scent, it has an intriguing smell that i just love. I only use this in the winter night, can be cloying when used in hotter days. Other than that, i have the EDT version and it doesn't smell at all like Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, i don't know why the comparison about it, they are totally different. 8/10

I tend to like men's body sprays such bath and body works, etc. The aerosols to me are not as musky and overpowering as cologne so you get the ambers, oud, and musk notes without it being too masculine and you can layer. This scent is a great cheapie and I like wearing it to bed or when I in loungewear, sweats, etc. The vanilla to me balances the fragrance and makes it unisex. The powdery note works well for layering with other powdery scents.

I was cleaning out my room the other day and found this axe bottle buried under some junk, untouched for years. As soon as I smelled it I was immediately transported back to middle school. It's actually a quite pleasant vanilla scent, not super masculine, it's a pretty smell :) Also, in retrospect, wearing this everyday for the entirety of 7th and 8th grade is probably the reason I absolutely love powdery fragrances.

This is the first scent I've ever picked for myself. I got the 48h version, so unsure if it varies. It has a nice warm smell, but I don't love the oriental feel it has for myself. The 48h body spray version does indeed last that long. It's not terribly manly but it does make me feel more masculine, and the fresh clean feeling is very enduring. Overall I'm satisfied but will try other fragrances when my can runs out.

It's not marketed as unisex here, but unlike most other Axe, it doesn't have the "fake male sweat" accord, so I really think it works perfect on both men and women. It's beautiful, but very soft - also not really common among Axe scents. I'll be using this for work. It's perfect for that, as it's not overpowering, but still beautiful.

I tried this and i loved it and got a couple of compliments but then I tried real vanilla fragrances eg: eros, ultra male and I realized its super synthetic and not that nice so I got rid of it but is u like cheap synthetic vanilla it's ok 5.3/10

I had both the after shave and the deodorant body spray. Although similar, the deodorant has a much more pleasant smell. It is sweeter and milder. The after shave is drier and spicier. After shave: 4/10 Deodorant 7/10

ain't half bad for a body spray. most of the "warmer" axe scents are pretty good imo. shame a lot of the best ones are rare/discontinued, but sometimes you get lucky at places like ross and burlington.

Although they share no notes in common, this (white can, dry version) smells strikingly similar to Ferrari Silver Essence. FSE IS more complex, but this is very pleasant. Subtly intriguing & warm

This as edt spray version is simple yet very elegant dark vanilla scent. It’s subtle and warm gem that is very suitable for work.

This is a step-up from the normal Axe offerings. It's also one of the more subtle scents from the line. Very pleasant.

Nice dark vanilia but can't find any oud. Performance is terrible... after 20 min I can't smell nothing at all.

Oud made mass-appealing. This frag here has a pleasantly fresh and clean smell.

For the after-shave version, which Axe labels “Gold: Warm Oud Wood” Fairly good projectection and longevity even when compared to designer type edt or edps. To me this is very close to Mugler Amen with the sweetness toned down. It’s dense and dark with noticeable patchouli and carmel notes with a lite woodyness. I don’t like the original Amen that much so I don’t like this that much either, but if Amen is your jam then I can’t see you not liking of loving this.

A warm woody vanilla that's not at all sugary. As a woman, I agree this leans slightly masculine (and is of course formulated with teenage boys in mind) but I love wearing it! It is a little suffocating and projects strongly for maybe 20 minutes after spraying, like most Lynx sprays, but on my skin it settles into a woody dark vanilla.

Surprisingly good, relatively long lasting and it gives a nice mature vibe to it while incredibly cheap. Of course, could do better but not for that price.

I remember about 5 or 6 years ago, I was using a hair product and I just loved the smell of it, and it sent me down a rabbit hole on a quest to find that smell, I didn't know the name of it. Later that year I was shopping at my local supermarket and saw that Lynx (the UK name for Axe) had brought out a new aftershave and as a spray. Previously we've had lynx Africa, Dark Temptation and another one with a yellow label that I can't remember all available as pour on and later spray. I picked up the scent to give it a spray and low and behold, my eyes lit up. I had found it. THE smell, from my hair product! I think I picked it up for around £4 at the time and even now it's only £6 and I buy it every so often. I've had many compliments wearing this, the first being from a taxi driver when I wore it to go out for the first time, he was a middle Eastern man and was instantly aware that I was wearing 'oud' I recommended it to him and told him where to buy. I also had compliments at the belagio Hotel in Las Vegas where many people told me I smelt exquisite! Overall this is a good investment, the longevity and sillage is more than enough for the price you pay and I'd even say better than some in the entry level 30-40 range

Around 2016-2017 I remember buying some kind of "special edition" line of Axe deos (or were they cologne versions of the deos?), including one called Oud Wood and Dark Vanilla (I think, I don't see it listed on Fragrantica). It smelled amazing, and if there was a cologne that smelled like that I would buy it in a heart beat. A kind of creamier, smoother, fresher and more youthful TF Tobacco Vanille mixed with Noir, and with more prominent vanilla. I wore it every day during most of my college years and then I think I stopped seeing it on shelves and never thought about it again. I have such strong emotional associations with that scent that just imaging it gives me nostalgia all these years later. Following that I started buying Axe Gold (no special edition), and I'm pretty sure it smelled the same as that one, my memory might be failing me a bit. Then around 2018-2019 I bought Axe Gold again and realized the smell had changed completely; it was a much more citrusy, boring and less deep/complex scent. I know it's weird to speak of reformulations for Axe deos like they're designer frags or something, but that special edition Axe smelled really good, and I think Axe Gold smelled the same until it got reformulated.

An Axe body spray with oud. Hilarious. There is no oud here. It doesn't even exist in Axe's laboratory. Oud is an extremely expensive, rich and complex smelling oil. Even alluding to it in a cheap body spray is like finding a key chain replica of the Eiffel Tower on the street and claiming you went to Paris. This is just a tarry vanillin, a bit softer and less nauseating than the chocolate Axe beloved by clueless teenage boys everywhere. It smells absolutely nothing like oud....or Tobacco Vanille. Gosh people.

Simply a lovely dry woody vanilla. The best of the Axe scents is not even on these pages - Tobacco amber, which smells like Tobacco flower from The Body Shop. It is so soft and it last for days, and is completely unisex. In Denmark it is part of the series called Urban that also offer Iced musk and ginger - it is SO fresh and soft. Tobacco amber is simply one of the best unisex scents ever made, and it presents an astonishing longevity for such a cheapie.

I own this axe product in a shower gel which I love! To me, it has a faint coca-cola vibe that's really nice. Absolutely nowhere near Tobacco Vanille! I usually pair the shower gel with Oud Wood fragrance, or anything dark or boozy. There's a method to get this stuff to stay on your skin. Let yourself air dry. This keeps the scent on you as opposed to "wiping it off" when you dry off.

Too soft for my liking. It's not marketed as a unisex scent where I live, but it really should be. It lacks sillage. And that's not an Axe bodyspray problem. It's just with this particular variant. Very muted- some would say subtle. Apply some after you shower and you'd probably feel cleaner for longer. Only your lover would smell this on you.

It's scary now- how commercial body sprays can come sorta / kinda close to designer and niche fragrances ! This smells great BUT nowhere NEAR Tom Ford TV. Noooooo......However...it almost smells like an A*Men flanker.....a lot. Pick this up the next time your buying a box of tissues and shaving cream.
