Grace 1956

True to the notes listed here. Initial spray is fruit forward, super juicy with mostly black currant on my skin. As it dries down, the saffron blossoms, then the classic combination of patchouli and ambergris settles in. I say classic because those two notes along with saffron are quite familiar to the fragrance community. It gives the remnants of baccarat on the dry down. That was really surprising because there is absolutely no similarity to BR540 initially. I do love and own the extrait version, but I am strongly opposed to owning anything else that has similar DNA It’s just to familiar and everyone smells the same. This opens with a gorgeous medley of sparkling fruits, then quickly develops into a very dense, syrupy amber and ambroxan experience. The opening reminds me a lot of Arabian Oud’s Madawi but the level and density of sweetness that comes afterward is heavy like Montale’s Arabians Tonka. It’s way too much for me, but I think those that like the aforementioned scent profiles will enjoy it. It is a powerhouse. The packaging is exquisite and the bottle is HUGE. Performance-wise, longevity and projection are top tier. Even though Grace 1956 wasn’t a good match for me, there are others from this house that are more my style. Ayaam is a brand worth exploring.
