Cartago

Clearly inspired from the character of Oud satin mood from MFK, Cartago is an inexpensive explosive rose based perfume. It is more or less linear in profile, keeping the rose and the lipsticky notes from orris well balanced with a woodsy note to me (although it is noted here as leather). This scent keeps the whole classic concept of a rose-oud combo but turns it a bit more classy-perfumey with the orris and the jasmin-leather (to me woody) combo. It is clearly a unisex scent, maybe a tad too fragrant for it to be clearly masculine, still classy and with a monstrous sillage. Duration at least 10 hours. Blind buy recommended for adventurous people, however I think that those people mind find it not at all challenging to wear.

Just ordered this from JomaShop for around $15, to hit the $100 minimum for free shipping. I'm hoping the patchouli, leather and rose are prominent; I'll be back around after it's delivered to give my thoughts Edit: 02-21-25 Turned out to be too feminine for my taste - which I thought may be the case. Extremely floral with rose at the forefront, substantially powdery (orris, jasmine), with a bit of patchouli holding it down. I don't notice any amount of leather - at least for the time being. I'll see if it develops further after the next few weeks. Impressive projection and longevity, though it does come off as synthetic, linear. I'm having a terrible time at understanding how this came to be marketed 'for men.' Despite this, I'd still like to check out more from Azha; 'Verte' and 'Chevalier Noir' seem likely to be more my jam - I simply chose Cartago because I didnt have anything similar in my collection, and the notes seemed interesting for a 'masculine' fragrance. Hoping to have better luck next time. We'll see.
