Poppy

10.19.23~ Fragrantica has been my go to when I want to know notes. Usually while blind shopping on BBW. However finally registered to leave this review bc never in a million years would anything poppy, or a bottle with orange flowers attract my attention and this deserves attention. Last time I fell this hard for a scent it was Oscar's Alibi perfume not the EDT. Two completely different scents. Badgley Mishka's Poppy is delicious. Gourmand. I want to bury my face in myself. It's warm & comforting yet sexy & sensual, which is my brand. Love woody orientals with summer florals like jasmine not flowery roses. Amber bases. Bergamot. However my acidic chemistry kills most weaker oil bases. Obsession on me is still sexy but unidentifiable. Poppy holds to me for hours. On clothes? Yes please. Reviews help me the most to know what others wear who like something I'm thinking about so here goes. BBW was Cashmere Glow for years & it changed. Now Fairytale. Also like Endless Sea for lighter wear. Perfume must haves are Oscar Alibi perfume, Ralph Woman & now Poppy. Body sprays are great for day wear to stay fresh & running around like Frosted Coconut or Sea Island Shore. But when you put on nice clothes, or just need to feel wrapped in a hug, good perfume is all you need. As I'm a hugger who likes being a woman, a warm scent with a lil sumthin sumthin like Poppy is perfect. Did I stumble upon it at Marshalls for 15 bucks? Yes. Would I pony up 50 at Nordstroms? Absolutely.

Creamy musky floral. Almost lactonic. Quite linear. Just a slight hint of "clean" musk without my skin turning it nauseatingly soapy. To me, that is nothing short of miraculous. I found mine in a Marshalls while on vacation recently, sniffed it out of curiosity, had to get the bottle (a whopping $12.00), and found myself wearing it constantly for the rest of my trip. I brought other perfume with me. They got neglected.

This was a great find at TJ Maxx. It's fresh without being too green. The musk gives it a sensuality that I appreciate. Great for hot days.

Very floral, clean and green. Refreshingly soapy or shampoo like. Creamy and powdery from the magnolia and peony. Overall it stays clean & green from the citrus and floral combo. The citrus is not sharp or loud in anyway. It stays subtle. Great for spring and summer, after a shower, and/or before bed. I don’t really pick up much if any spices, amber, or woods at all upon first impression. It remains majorly a clean, powdery floral with very creamy, green undertones. But I’m not mad at it. I’m appreciating it so much. I’ve been looking for more scents like this to expand my olfactory palette. It reminds me a lot of Daisy Eau So Fresh, or MJ Perfect’s dry down. Edit: At first I was debating getting rid of this but then changed my mind. Glad I tested it again and again. It’s so beautiful! My nose understands it better now with time and I’m glad I held onto it. Also... this fragrance is not weak! It has staying power.

running errands in a white, open button-down on a sunday morning; a dog resting in the quiet of the sun in a recently-used laundry room a clean, powdery musk that dries into something comforting and drowsy. a scent i'd spritz on freshly washed linens to elevate the clean feeling; also quite creamy, would be fitting as a post-bath scent. maybe (very much likely) i have a thing against powders, but i don't think it's too overpowering; instead, it's a pretty cloud puff that envelops the florals and amber, though the citrus falls right outside the cloud and is nearly non-existent. i also do really enjoy the scent that lingers when inhaling the air right after stuffing my nose in my wrist. a pretty good, safe blind buy from ross

Looking at the notes, it was not what I was expecting. Again, this is an okay scent. I like it more than Audrey and Dahlia, for sure. This one has more body and interest. It also projects more. Lasts about 4 hours without needing to reapply. The scent itself is creamy and powdery. It actually put me in mind of snow for some reason? I was hoping for more rose and more of a spring-like floral (like Champs Elysee or Sung). What I got is more akin to Toujous Glamour, L’Heure Bleue EDT, Esprit d’Oscar, etc. Same kind of powdery but creamy feel. All in all, not bad, but probably won’t get much wear since I own and prefer all of the above.

Upon first spray, creamy musk & powder with hints of soft florals. It has nods to classic powdery perfumes but kept surprising me by its subtlety - hard working but not bulldozing. I usually can’t stand powdery perfumes because of this. The sillage was also surprising. It leapt off my skin. Longevity was a whopping 30 minutes 😂 but the perfume was $12. I find it a great add to some of my mixes. I wish I’d had more of the rose and orange notes come out. It’s essentially all one blend of creamy powder with hints of more.

Smells delicious on my skin! Get a lot of spice, plumeria and amber, but settles into a soft musk. Youthful.

People lie and I got over it. This is so similar to Kenzo Amour, not Flower. Is it a coincidence that I wanted that fragrance for over ten years but found it in Badgley Mischka's Poppy? Definitely! Love it the fresh powderyness of this scent! Suitable for any time of day (after shower/bath? Okay. Running errands? Yes. A formal occasion to attend without making a statement? Thank you!) The dry-down is wonderful and can be reapplied without offending people. Ah, so many reasons why I'd repurchase this! But if someone does not like powdery scents, then this isn't your bottle to invest in. 10/03/25 Wish it was more well-rounded by having more pronounced base notes so it could last.

Blind buy! It doesn’t smell bad, but the powdery floral smell reminds me of deodorant. Unfortunately, it’s not to my liking, but it does smell very clean! Note: The cap is very loose and doesn’t snap back onto the bottle!!

Oh, I am so crushed by this perfume! Seeing the notes and reading the reviews, I decided I just had to have it. Saw it online for about $15, but I hesitated. Went back to buy it and it was out of stock. So...I paid $35 on a different website. Surely it was worth it, I told myself. Well, it arrived today and I desperately want to like/LOVE it, but no matter how much I spray on skin or clothes the only thing I smell is NOTHING. I'm so sad! I don't smell a single thing. I've never really learned to dabble in fragrance layering. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could wear with this that would improve it or allow me to actually smell it? I fear this is headed for the box of my exiled perfumes, never worn due to failed blind buys. I'm so very disappointed. Perhaps if I try it again in the spring, I'll have better luck.

When I first sniffed POPPY, I was immediately overwhelmed and overcome with a sweeping wave of profound nostalgia... Wow... where in my childhood memory had I smelled such a thick, powdery, menthol, white creamy floral with a hint of oriental spice? After thinking it over... a scent memory came back to me: I recalled as a child watching my mother apply her evening eye cream as she went gently, systematically, through her night-time skin care routine in front of the bathroom mirror. POPPY reminds me exactly of the scent of the thick, white, creamy, powdery, menthol-y, spicy nighttime eye cream... the kind the tingles your nostrils and feels so brisk and refreshing in the air. To be honest, I can't pinpoint the exact brand of eye cream / wrinkle cream that POPPY smells like, but my best guess is that it is reminiscent of one of the ones below - or possibly a combination: - PONDS eye cream (The "Dry Skin Cream, Facial Moisturizer" with the blue lid [not the turquoise lid]) - OIL of OLAY eye cream - NIVEA cream - SKIN SO SOFT So if you are looking for a nostalgic scent that is reminiscent of the 1980's and that evening bedtime skincare routine that your mother or grandmother used to do, then this scent might be for you! I don't have any perfumes in my collection that smell like this... nor have I ever smelled the NIVEA perfume - but if I had to chose a closest dupe, my best guess is that POPPY and NIVEA perfume would be in the same scent family. NIVEA is probably more pure, white, sterile, metallic, and menthol-y than POPPY which is probably more floral and with more oriental spices than NIVEA... but I think they would share the same core white creamy powdery spicy DNA.

Oh my, I am pleasantly surprised by this. I kind of regret giving up my vintage Badgley Mischka scents, but I think I was just not into the very sweet and boozy scents at the time, and I'm finding myself wearing those kinds of scents less and less, anyways. This one is like an lovely, old-school rose floral cream, with that creamy, slightly powdery vibe, that is reminiscent of my childhood. Hints of musk, spice and a bit of woodiness keep this from being too basic. I only found one bottle, and now I think I want a backup, because I suspect I will be wearing this often. Reminds me a bit of a Kenzo scent, mixed with Giorgio Valenti Rose Noire, which is a cheap but good, spicy, powdery rose.

I just blind bought this at Ross and got home to test it and it is sooo yummy. Like a warm milky type scent but with creamy florals. It kind of has an old school vibe but with nothing heavy. Light and airy creamy clean floral. Cant wait to test this more. So so pretty!! Edit: My mom just remembered what the base of this reminds us of, the base of dolce & gabbana red cap. My mom now wants a bottle because that was her favorite and I also wore it. 2nd edit: I'm going to go back to Ross and get the other one I saw by this brand Audrey. I hope I like it as much!!

Powdery in a very good way. I'm very particular about powder notes but they are subtle and nicely blended in Poppy. The floral combination is very lovely, an affordable every-day scent. I received this from my Mom who didn't wear it often, and I reach to it on days where I feel like sparing my fancy perfumes :)

I personally was shocked to not see an iris or orris note its powdery but in the best way mixed with those florals it smell so good on my skin!! I love it and it last pretty long :)

Fluffy soft floral and a warm powdery base. Reminds me of Yara or Ciel. Powder lovers will rejoice. Pink floral lovers should like it, too.
