Tohfa Black

In this perfume dominates dark intense not sweet animalic oriental oud, enriched with saffron, labdanum, oakmos. Strong, extravagant, gothic, enough long lasting. 9/10

I really can't decide what to think about this. This opens, surprisingly, like barnyard style oudh to my nose. Of course it's quite challenging, but not the reason that turns me away from this fragrance. If that barnyardish part could stand to dry, this could be a completely different song for me! But no, that "oudh" quickly dries down to an almost imperceptible, to slightly rubbery, vague background to the very sweet, almost overripe, mostly like grape-like fruit (with some spices) to my nose. I can't help but think this is an attempt to cover up these notes of the oud? Unfortunately, it has also succeeded in that. I think this definitely needs more elements to be wearable. White flowers or strong wood? More oud maybe? Or decent leather, perhaps? Aroma is sufficiently strong anyway... Although even this doesn't satisfy my craving for fruity dhanal oudh and this alone is like pouring a bottle of cheap wine over myself, still some crazy style I almost like this, but I don't know, could anyone actually really love this?

I dont know why, when I open my cap I smell spilled dried beer. Like a Heineken bubbled over in my hand and it dried. Have worn it though.

TUPPENCE! TUPPENCE A PERFUME! (short review) I couldn't resist the advertised price when it got below 10 euros. At that price, I was more than willing to give my curiosity a bit of a break. I already owned three fragrances by Bait Al Bakhoor (another Afnan sub-brand) and was very satisfied with them. In the notes pyramid, Tohfa Black promised me a lot of oud. Actually, a lot was promised but little was delivered. Saffron and other spices were added to the promise, along with some rose, resins, balsams and even moss. I had prospects of darkness, smoke, burnt rubber, spiced woods and some sweetness. I have to admit that I got everything I expected... I am a sucker for dark fragrances and this Afnan step-son opened a smile in my face. OK, the scent is perhaps a little synthetic, but nothing to write home about. What's more, the bottle is even less tacky than it looked in the photos in the advert. But it's an odd bottle anyway. The perfume starts very intense but becomes softer after a while. It never becomes an intrusive scent. The performance is pretty average, meaning that it is huge for the price. My opinion: I confirmed that this perfume is a very cheap one in terms of cost and somewhat cheap in terms of presentation. As for the essence of the perfume itself, it's very underrated (very underrated indeed), and presents a value way above its price. We are not dealing with a fragrant masterpiece but if you fancy an easy-to-wear oriental dark perfume, you should give it a try. It will certainly please many sceptics!
