Ambre Oud

I can get why people either love or utterly hate this one, I truly don't see there being a middle ground. Not to say that they smell the same, but I put Ambré Oud in the same conversation with Nishane's Unutamam. Incredibly unapologetic, brash & for those who don't actively go looking for compliments (though don't be fooled, I've received quite a few while wearing either of those). There's nothing polite about Ambré Oud, not to say that it goes out of its way to offend because, again, I've had people flow into the room I was in so they could catch the scent in the air around them. And of course for sever reasons, I would never dream of this being worn to work, unless you work out of your own home. This is rich, somewhat sweet, VERY boozy (more so than Amouage's Overture Man & maybe equally with Roja's Enigma Pour Homme). But with all of that said, I find this incredibly elegant, but in a fairly rugged way. When you hear "don't let the perfume wear you", Ambré Oud is definitely one of the fragrances that immediately comes to mind. So, if you'd like a deep, rich, boozy but stanky (even "barnyard" as I've heard it called), maybe this one could be for you. And luckily, if you can find it, it's on the inexpensive side (I believe I paid $30CAD for my 30ml, which is plenty). A couple of sprays & you'll be smelling it for quite some time.

Amber and Oud is a combo hard to resist for me. In my opinion as well Baldessarini is an underrated designer, producing fragrances that smell more expensive than their actual price. After trying the Ambré fragrance, that I liked very much, I targeted Ambré Oud as easily deserving a blind buy and I am glad I did it. It may be considered a flanker to the original as a similar ambar trail is present in its DNA. However the apple note is a lot less noted and there is a new boozy opening accord. This very well blended Ambré Oud also offers you some patchouli, leather and incense hints, making it a perfume to wear several times in the winter weeks to come. The light touch of whiskey in the opening gives the perfume a nice touch and makes it a bit more unique. Performance is average, and the projection is not really strong. I was expecting a bit more sillage but I may consider it fair due to the smoothness of the oud ingredients used. I do pick some small similarities with Interlude Man by Amouage and Amber Oud by Trussardi and both perfumes are highly regarded. I invite you to take your own conclusions as well.

First of all, this fragrance is not for everyone ! In my opinion, you need to have emptied a few bottles over the years and belong to the team "Stinky Animalic Oud" On the opening, there's a Whisky vibe reminiscent of Glenfiddich, fruity notes of apple pear and possibly Cherry. The Oud is very intense leathery, animalic and dark. There's earthy Patchouli and balsamic amber. I find it truly unique in its category and highly addictive. It instantly puts me in a different mood. Personally I don't see any negative points but, don't blind buy !

Baldessarini is not the brand which I love so much, but this one is one of my favorite oud fragrances. Very good natural oud-wood smell with ambre touch and something like a whisky. I love this aroma..it is so long lasting and fantastic to me, indipendently of the not so pleasent tuch of naturalistic dirty oud in the beginning.Good job Baldessarini!

Ambre original is very underrated in my opinion, and this one is a great variation. The two scents are distinct though after a while you can smell the original underneath. This is not a replacement for the original, I love both and will be keeping both stocked.

Feels like a warm hug under the blankets on a cold winter's night: skin to skin, corporeal.

Opens with a blast of bitter whiskey and oud.there is NO SWEETNESS.its clear from the opening this is not a fresh and mass appealing or sweet scent.it feels "serious" and somewhat gentlemanly. As it dries down the whiskey note tones down with leather joining the foray and a light green animalic nuance emerges. amber is present throughout the life of fragrance providing the backbone.animalistic nuances are in the background making this less mass appealing and more for a refined and trained nose.dries down to the same woodoud and leather combo.age 25+,cold weather only,hard to pull off without a suit or atleast a nice blazer. Overall a dark and somewhat medicinal woody scent with a gentlemanly and mature feel with good performance.for the sake of explaination ONLY you could consider this a more challenging versace oud noir. DO NOT BLIND BUY. 8/10

I’m a huge fan of the original, in my top ten easily. It should get a lot more love, no idea why it doesn’t? It’s so sophisticated and niche quality. So to say I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this one is an understatement! This is a true flanker, the Ambre DNA is alive and well. The oud plays its biggest part in the opening but then settles right down into the blend to offer a soft base with other woods. The main players in this beautiful blend is the amber, whiskey and leather. Just gorgeous. If you’re looking for a strong oud based fragrance, then this is deceiving due to the name. If you own Ambre and you’re not a collector, it might be redundant so sample first. For me this is a winner, the slight nuances I love. The oud could have been slightly more prominent to give it more distinction over the original.

I wasn't sure about this since when I smelled it from paper it was a little.... Ugh. I get the bug spray comparison. But I put on my big boy pants and wore it today, after letting it sit for a few weeks. It's really nice! It goes on kind of rough but it dries down to a nice mellow amber, with a little sweetness I'm assuming is the apple/ violet. I'm not sure I smell whiskey, but I suck at picking individual notes. So yeah. Give it a little time and it turns out pretty nice.

Alright so I just got this bottle and was excited to try this out. First of all, someone related this to Frank Oliviers Oud Touch? No, this does not resemble it on any sense, to be honest, Frank Olivier is way more quality than this. So to all the guys, I purchased this as a blind buy and was a big mistake, I'm generally not critical about fragrances as i tend to enjoy it however this one I had to say that it is just not right. Please do not blind buy this regardless of the price, you cannot even use it as an air freshener as the smell is really bad, unfortunately.

Sweet ambery fragrance...with a stink! Really! Do people think oud smell like civet? Ambre Oud is a sweet, powder, ambery fragrance with an intense stink that doesn't go away. The stink is alcohol-like, not oud-like. Like the breath of an alcoholic Not a fan of this.

Lucas12 hit most of my points: I don't generally hate on fragrances, being able to find something redeeming about most even if I don't appreciate them. I don't say that a fragrance smells like some other bad-smelling substance. And this is nothing like Franck Olivier's Oud Touch. But ... Upon spraying, and for at least 2 hours thereafter, this smells 100% like Off Insect Repellent - not the modern, decent smelling stuff but the stuff we used to use back in the 1970s. Harsh, headache-inducing (which almost never happens to me), very dry. The blame can be put on whatever synthetic oud aromachemical they have used, which completely dominates this fragrance. Some amber can be detected nose to skin, but not in the sillage. I like the Baldessarini Ambre, and thought (based on some over-the-top YouTube videos) that this would just be a minor tweak, with a little exotic twist. One YT'er even said that he thought these might be duplicative. Hah! If you really like all things oud, this might do something for you, especially seeing several positive reviews below. But this is one of my least favorite fragrances of all time.

The note breakdown of this fragrance drew me into blind buying it. Whiskey, Oud, Leather, Patchouli, Amber and Oak. I was really not expecting this. Didn't even bother testing the strip first (rookie mistake). This stuff smells worse than terrible and wearing it for a little over 30 min is all I could take. Much longer and I likely would have gotten a headache. It obviously has strong longevity and likely sillage as well cause I could still faintly smell it even after a good scrubbing. This is a great example of how a fragrance with a really cool note combo can be blended in a way that to me produces a truly unique disgusting smell.

Baldessarini Ambre Oud is up there and may be the worst fragrance I have ever smelled. It literally smells like the cologne has gone bad. I am not the biggest fan of oud but I appreciate the different and rich vibe it provides but this stuff is absolutely awful. I think I heard a reviewer describe this as smelling like hot dog breath and let me tell you they are pretty spot on. Do yourself a favor and sample before purchasing.

I'm sorry, but Baldessarini Ambre Oud stinks awful! Stinks like horse pee. Just disgusting. Long lasting is extremely good but I hate this fragrance. The original Baldessarini Amber is wonderful.

This is the deepest heaviest fragrance I have smelled from Baldessarini or Hugo Boss so far. This is my first designer oud to actually remind me of old school oud related smelling items from my Indian influenced childhood. Heavy on the Oud in the opening and supporting notes of amber whiskey and suede make this slightly smoother in the dry down. This is nowhere near the smoothness of the original Ambre and that's a good thing. I find myself searching for the original when I wear this and so pleased when I finally find it in the Dry down. Overall, I like this scent quite a bit and more each time I wear it. Regardless of your clothing or event, this is scent you wear when you want to get something done and be present. Good for cool and cold weather, this is great value for mature individuals.

Smells of dimly lit room whose walls are covered in exotic wood paneling. Lamps stand on small coffee tables on each side of a set of Chesterfield sofas and to the occasional dark brown leather chair. A gray haired gentleman with light stubble walks in. Tall, well built, dressed in a fit-to-measure suit, shirt unbuttoned - no tie. The sound of ice cubes rolling against the sides of a whiskey glass.

this fragrance is not to be compared with the the first Amber....its longetivity is weak..the oud presence stays for less than an 1hr...and projection is worst ever....im really disappointed...total waste of money...

Love this talcum powdery smell.. its not usual Oud. Very westernised and toned down. Mainly i smell amber but airy amber not dark one. Could wear it all year round. Bang for buck
