Bronze

I'm so surprised by most of the reviews here. This parfume is probably the most magical, alluring and mesmerizing scent I've ever worn. First time I tried it was at a department store, sprayed behind my ear and boy, was I not in love! 💖 Probably could still smell it three days in a row, so long lasting. Since then, any time I'd pass that specific shop I'd deliberately pop in just for a spritz 🫣 Can't justify the price tag at the moment but will probably buy it for Christmas. One thing to point out, not sure is it my skin/hair, but I usually will sample a few parfumes at the same time, just on different spots of my body/clothing. The only scent that lingers is the Bronze, no other parfume can come through. Can't be more specific on describing the scent than summarizing it as a "church smell", the typical smell you get in a Christian Orthodox Church from the incense. I absolutely love this parfume and it never fails to lift my mood and spirits, it's a pure magic in a bottle! 💯

This is very nice. Like Encens Sauve but tobacco instead of incense, with a side of Thé Noir. Peppery, spicy, earthy, wet tobacco and tea. Very slightly sweet/fruity and boozy. And then the jasmine rounds it off so nicely, takes it in it's own direction. Others say challenging? Yeah, no. High quality, artful perfumery? Absolutely. Performance is solidly average in all respects. Not sure why this brand has such a bias against it, but this is a primo tobacco scent that stands out from the crowd.

Smells like Oud for Greatness and Haltane’s edgy younger brother. I mostly get a dark peppery cedar and hay backed by tobacco leaf and an almost chocolatey patchouli that adds to that comparison. The hay comes off as a light barnyard sweetness that reminds me of more popular oud accords. I feel that once you get past the mid though it loses a lot of its character and only really get the cedar and patchouli as a subtle dark wood smell

I have 3 current Balmain fragrances, this is my favourite. It starts with a wallop and drys down like a pungent strong liquor cabinet abandoned on a forrest floor on a rare sunny October day. I wouldn't agree it's unisex, more trad. male-leaning, but either way it's heady and going to be challenging for either sex if working/living with others in close proximity.

This is the other actually New, New one from Balmain. Bronze is immediately in a similar vein to Ebene and Sel d'ambre in that it's a spicy, woody, resinous driven perfume and I can only equate this to being a sort of thread the perfumer/perfumers who've jazzied up (who is that BTW?) this line have included to tie together some disparate vintage faves with new fangled releases. That's what impressed me about the core of this collection, not the individual fragrances themselves, or indeed the distinctive branding and definitely NOT the high price it's the collective cohesion I like. Anyway, Bronze to me has a dominant hay note which comes over as more than a little honied, heavy, woolen, waxy almost animalic, like some opaque honey you'd get direct from a beekeeper. Although we consider that sweet it's a great juxtapositon to the rest of the stuff here which again is a sort of peppery, cedarwood, spicy patchouli amalgam. I like this perfume to smell it, not especially to wear but I will update this review once I've worn it again, because I think it deserves more thought.

It's... interesting... I think it's the patchouli throwing me off

It’s a scent with a strong black pepper presence. Tobacco and hay stood out the most to me, and I was sure there was saffron in it but apparently not. There’s a sweet note in the opening that I really didn’t like. Overall, it’s very hay-like and herbal. Definitely not ordinary, but it just wasn’t for me. Meh!

Sour tobacco with patchouli. Like smoking in your expensive car next to a church during summer. I wonder how this and Ebene are in the same line as they give off the same vibe with this being a bit dirtier and earthier. Not my vibe tbh

This is masculine and smells of hay and honey. It is a challenging scent, must sample before you buy.

If there were two thirds less cloying sweetness I'd love this, but it's awful as is.

Bronze feels elevated and composed from the first spray. It’s not sweet at all, instead, it leans resinous and dry, with a subtle incense character that gives it a quiet “church” atmosphere (and I mean that in the best way). On my skin it feels structured and controlled. The resins are smooth, slightly austere, and grounded. There’s no syrup, no softness trying to comfort you. It’s steady. Intentional. What I appreciate most is how it makes me feel: in charge and centered. In close quarters, even a clinical environment. It projects calm authority without being loud. It doesn’t chase attention. It commands respect quietly. If you like fragrances that feel resinous, dry, and confident rather than sweet or crowd-pleasing, Bronze delivers a composed, almost ceremonial strength. Scent: 8.5/10 | Longevity: 8/10 | Projection: 6.5/10 | Overall: 8.5/10

I received this as a sample when I ordered my wife Destin (which is lovely). I agree with Ronectn. There is a distinct ceremonial (church) incense vibe in the open. Due to the fact I attended Catholic school for 13 years, that scent memory is entrenched. It is a refined and a well-constructed fragrance. It has seriousness and gravitas. I suspect its longevity will be excellent with relatively moderate projection. I think most would think it leans masculine. Impressed with the craft, dislike being reminded of my Catholic guilt.

Bonfire, smoke, spice, tobacco and aromatic. On the masculine side however I love masculine fragrances so this is definitely a winner for me. The first 10 minutes are full on but the dry down is delicious.
