Rose de Soie

You know, this is marketed as a female perfume and yes, it is floral and a bit sweet but let me tell you, this rose/tonka blend is awesome and totally works on a guy as well. I went to Selfridges today and tried it on my skin. It’s been 8 hours since I put 1 spray on my have and I can still smell it projecting while I type this out on my phone. It’s not a screamer but it lasts a long time. Way more than I expected for an EDT! The pink pepper in the opening is great too. I can’t wait to be able to buy this!

Went to Balmain to buy Rouge EDT but ended up Rose Soie as my new spring fragrance. The opening is stunning, fluffy sugary rose powdery/musky. There is a touch of vintage, but without being “old”. I don’t own many sweet fragrances, as a find them a bit childish and I don’t like smelling of candy, but this one, just right! It’s a super feminine and romantic perfume with good projection and lasts around 6h. I am getting Rouge, but for now I am going to truly enjoy this beauty this spring.

Just got this! Its a creamy rose. It smells like LDBS cousin twice removed. So you can love and own both.

High expectations given the nose of Louise Turner. Very feminine. Very sweet. This feels like a dewy, sugary rose thats enveloped by a bed of soft musk. It feels like spring in a manner in which a frosted rose begins to thaw in the first glimmer of sunlight and is subsequently dusted with confectioners sugar. The opening is slightly peppery and fresh, but this quickly mellows down and leaves an ultra sweet rose and orange blossom with a creamy base. Reminds me a lot of LDBS extreme / eau fraiche, it echoes that fluffy, marshmallow-esque feeling. There’s other fragrances that remind me of this that I can’t put my finger on... but it’s a DNA that feels familiar. It’s nothing groundbreaking, however I can see this doing really well with those who love ultra feminine sweet fragrances like LDBS, delina exclusif, Impadia etc. Compared to Carbone, this rose fragrance is significantly less challenging, thus however also less unique. Decent lasting power and projection.

I thought I would love this. And I do like the dry down, which is rosy and sweetly airy. But the opening, my god it's disgusting. The pink pepper, which I usually really enjoy in fragrances, clashes really badly with the rose, it smells bitter and green and toxic. It's so jarring and off putting. I have other rosy fragrances that are lovely all the way through so to me although the dry down is pleasant, it's not good enough to be worth suffering the opening.
