17 Oud Mosaic

I'm not sure where the previous reviewer got the idea that Banana Republic has discontinued this fragrance, or that they've discontinued making fragrances altogether. This frag is still sold online, and is relatively easy to find at rack stores. I picked mine up new at Burlington just a week ago, from a bunch that was on the shelf. Banana Republic keeps a selection of their frags in stock at their stores, and they added two new frags to the Icon line just last year. So I don't think this fragrance is disappearing any time soon. Anyways, the frag itself is nice. It's a pleasant oud, not too challenging. Definitely a cold weather scent. To me the oud does give it an older vibe, maybe too old for me. I enjoyed wearing it the couple days that I tested it, but I feel like I would opt for fresher or sweeter scents on a more regular basis. Still, I like having it in the collection alongside my other Banana Republic Icon frags. The quality for the price though is great, especially if you can get the 75 ml for half price at rack stores. It gets decent longevity. At this price point it's probably all synthetic oud, but it doesn't smell cheap or artificial. If you're an oud lover on the lookout for good cheapies, definitely check this one out. Edit: On wearing it more I've warmed up to it and am actually really enjoying wearing it to work and such. It especially goes nicely on "rainy days", I think.

I was fortunate enough to find 7.5 ml bottles of this a couple years ago at a Banana Republic Factory Outlet store for under $10 each. Not sure what batches are like now, but I've had those two bottles last me since Autumn 2020. At the price point, this is a great value. The Rose is robust here and vibrates throughout but much nicer, in my opinion, than say... Cartier's Declaration d'un Soir. If you're a man who doesn't like the smell of Rose on you, or a woman who wears a more floral Rose, this may not be the one for you. However, if you like darker tones and oriental or incense vibes, this Rose could be for you for here she blooms with spices in a very masculine direction due to the use of an interesting Cardamom accord. Eventually this dries down to a very sensual woody scent especially attractive on clothing. I can't imagine BR using real Agarwood in this blend at the price their offering but what Mr. Dir has done here with their budget is create a wonderful blend of the classic (and often times very expensive) Rose/Oud combination making its way into the Western World. The scent can be quite powerful and pungent at first, especially for those unfamiliar with Oud fragrances, however this is a very good fragrance for anyone looking for something sensual, daring, and willing to make a statement on a cool summer night.

I bought this mostly because there is a discounter in my country selling the 75ml bottle for 11$, which is crazy cheap. I don't have Oud Ispahan to compare with, but I have OudTouch, by Franck Olivier, and I must say I hardly find any similarity between the two. Franck Olivier is way more synthetic in the beginning, and is barely tolerable in the first 30-40 minutes. Oud Mosaic is quite tame compared to OudTouch and it starts much more natural, I do get the oud and the rose, but I also get a boozy feel which lasts for about 2-3 horus. During these 2 to 3 hours the booziness slowly goes away and what you are left with is a combination of rose, oud and fruits. Also during this time it tames down and it gets more animalic, and believe me when I'm telling you I get whiffs of Kuros. It's not as in your face and urinal like Kouros, but tame Kouros by 80-90% enough to doubt the smell is even there and add the notes I described earlier. Overall I love it, more than OudTouch, but only by a small margin, it smells a more natural than OudTouch it is also less linear than OudTouch, but it loses points if you take into account the longevity and projection.

This might be one of my top blind buys of all time. Now I’ve never had the chance to smell oud ispahan so I can’t really talk much about the comparisons to that, however, the note break down intrigued me and I already owned cypress ceded from the icon line and loved it so I actually went out of my way to hunt this down at Burlington. I managed to find it for around 22$ and at that price this is an absolute steal. Too me this oud doesn’t come across animalic or barnyardish in any way. Instead it is a beautiful oud rose combo that have a good amount of sweetness counterbalanced with dark woods and spices that linger around the edge of the fragrance. It’s extremely wearable even as a guy in his early 20s. I think you can wear this casually or dress it up as it has a good amount of depth and sophistication to it. Personally I love wearing this scent to bed as I find it one of the most relaxing scents in my collection. Longevity is good. It’s even survived showers on occasion. Projection is very very good in the first few hours. Overall for the price I paid this is an absolute must own cheapy if you like oud and or rose

This is a beautiful perfume! The rose, though dominant throughout, is dark, almost "jammy" (as has been noted previously), so you need not worry that this is a bright tea rose. The oud wafts out now and then, but this is certainly not an oud dominant perfume. For the record, I am a 56 year old male who works in an office environment. For the office I use one shot to the chest, and I layer it with either one shot of Lalique Equus or Givenchy Vetyver. What I end up with is a more balanced woods and rose combination which I find heavenly, yet not so challenging to western scent wearing stereotypes. Longevity is good: 6-7 hours. Projection is moderate to my nose, probably because I find rose scents so noticeable. This is an excellent perfume by which to add in a rose note via layering. For the price (and because I have a BR store in my city), I can definitely see this being a permanent addition to my collection.

This is a bargain considering the price to quality/performance ratio. Main Accord is Rose, Plum and some faux Oud, very refreshing and uplifting, the oud is inoffensive, there's no skanky or animalic barnyard type oud here at all. The rose is airy and light, the rest of the notes are quite subtle as well. You could literally douse yourself with 30 sprays and not offending anybody with this one. I would wear this in all seasons at any time, casual or formal. Respectable performance with moderate projection and sillage. Blind buy safe and highly recommended for Oud beginner. Make no mistake this is an entry-level synthetic faux Oud, if you want to know what real Oud smells like get some samples from Feel Oud or Ensar Oud. Real quality Oud oil cost a few hundred of US dollars for just 3ml, Don't kid yourself thinking you're smelling real Oud from this stuff.

I bought a 15ml bottle of Oud Mosaic at a Banana Republic Factory store in Little Rock, AR for all of $10. This was not a sophisticated setting or luxury shopping experience. This was me wasting a few hours walking around the outlet mall within walking distance from my hotel. None of this matters as this perfume transcends the sad little shelf it was displayed on next to ugly scarves and questionable costume jewelry. It is beauty amongst dreck and I regret not springing for the bigger bottle. How does it smell? On my skin, it starts out with a blast of Oud followed by a soft skank with rose and spice floating in the background. After a few minutes I can almost taste the saffron. It dries down to a lovely rose and musk skin scent. I don't detect the plum at all. If you like Oud, definitely pop into Banana Republic and give this one a spin.

I snagged a compliment from the first person I passed when wearing this fragrance. It has a very interesting fresh/soapy feel that leans feminine mostly from the rose to my nose but then drifts masculine from the spices and oud. This is similar to what TF Ombré Leather does with Leather & Jasmine only with Oud & Rose. This is the kind of stuff where the feminine qualities make it sexy on a gentleman yet much easier to pull off than Black Orchid. This could easily be worn on date night by a gentleman coasting into his thirties and be quite the eye opener for the confident mature dude in his twenties taking out an older woman. Honestly, I even think a woman could lure a real man in with this wear. BR, y’all doing some good things lately at this price point. Hats off to youse.

A very pleasant rose/oud. I have to be honest that I did not have great expectations for this one, but have been pleasantly surprised. Very nice oud and spice opening. Very interesting for being "just" a BR perfume. Then, in the heart it develops with a strong turkish rose that takes the lead, the part I like the less. Afterwards, I start loving the drydown again, with amber, oud and plum making an interesting combo. It has similar vibes to other rose/oud designer fragrances, and I already have a couple of them quite similar (Varvatos Oud, that I like less than this one, and Charriol Royal Platinum, that I like more than this one). If you don't, and can find it around $20/30 online for a large bottle, you should go for it! Fall/Winter evenings, 25-50

After reading all reviews I have decided to buy 17 Oud Mosaic blindly as it was 14 EUR at a local discounter. What a surprise! Above my expectations. I see why people say that 17 Oud Mosaic is inspired by Dior Oud Isphahan, but of course there are more differences than similarities between these two. The Oud note in Oud Mosaic is very friendly. At the dry down it becomes covered by other ingredients like plum and rose. While funkiness of the Oud in Isphahan takes the front line and stays there till the end while other ingredients mutate. It is a very beautiful fragrance, definitely niche quality. Really great choice for oud beginners. Thinking about the price and quality ratio, I find it as an insane deal.

Just got this. Will be great for winter. Definitely not abrasive oud like in Lancome’s Oud Bouquet which I really wanted to love. Unisex. But male forward. However it’s been done already. I smelled something like this in stores, on men, while in Istanbul, in Casablanca, on my dad’s friends when I was a child. I smell oud (not stinky type), some sweets (almost vanilla like dessert), no rose really. It is soft and not stinky oud with cloying sweetness which is frequently in oud fragrances. Do not think it smells like TF Oud Fleur. That one is more flowers, more spice, better longevity with that TF DNA that he has in “dark” fragrances. Oh yeah and I smell leather in this. Anyone else? Overall, I recommend it.

I love how this starts out woody on me before turning sweet and jammy thanks to the rose and plum. The other florals do a great job keeping the sweetness from getting to be too much. This is a wonderful introduction to oud for me- instead of the fecal barnyard smell other posters warn about in reviews for other scents, I got a pleasantly musty woody smell which works wonderfully with the powdery musk and amber in the base notes. This is a great all-around scent for colder weather; I can see the plum and oud being too much for hot weather. If Banana Republic doesn't reformulate this to death like they apparently did Dark Cherry and Amber, I want to get a larger bottle once I use up the last of my sample.

Banana Republic fragrances are generally well-made and cohesive; oud music is no exception. In the world of "Barnyard" ouds and "Americanized" ouds, Oud Mosic accurately represents what oud should smell like in a fragrance without making abrupt shifts in direction. The full dry down is a delight as you can noticeably detect the labdanum and a fruity accord. I would also consider this a great introduction to oud because it utilizes the trinity combination of oud, rose, and saffron. The scent is linear and works well in almost any occasion or environment, the critical point being that you feel comfortable wearing an oud fragrance. Performance is a solid 7+ hours on the skin.

Beautiful, middle of the road, Oud fragrance. I am pleasantly surprised how good this is...well done BR. The Oud is more so than TF’s Oud Wood or Versace’s Oud fragrance, but not enough that those getting into Oud’s can’t handle it. Plum/cardamom opening helps balance the initial blast of the Oud. Dry down blends a dry (not skanky or syrupy) Oud and rose combo. Extremely seductive fragrance. Longevity is monstrous. About ten hours on my skin and over twelve on my clothes. Projection is moderate, which I prefer w/Oud fragrances. Overall, this is an insane value for your money. Good thing is, you can spray down in a store and live with it for a day before purchase.

I assume I'm going to get a ton of flack for this, but here it is: If you love Portrait of a Lady, but don't have the $350 to shell out (or don't want to shell out), THIS is a close scent for a mere fraction of the cost. It's not *the same*, but it's 90% there. It's perhaps a tad more incensy - and I can see how it could evoke Oud Isphahan (in a review below). I've had my nose on POAL, and you can find my review there (it's a favorite). In a nutshell, it's a gorgeous gothic frag reminiscent of stepping into a cathedral. This is one of the best value frags I've ever seen! It may not last as long, but for the price, you really can't beat it. Just respray.

Very well done composition! I agree with those who said the oud is a bit skanky but it doesn’t stand out too sharply... still I can see the oud accord turning some ppl off. I bought a 15 ml bottle because I really like it and the fragrances were buy one get one free. Edited: Honestly guys after 3 days of sitting on this fragrance .... I’m freakin’ blown away. I guess because it’s Banana Republic I naturally dimmed the light at first impression. It’s so natural and so well blended. I’ve never smelled Oud Ispshan by Dior but if this is a clone or inspiration then I must get my nose on the real thing.

if you're familiar with oud and its depth, this one is reasonable and not too overpowering compared to others! a fantastic mix of oud and spice that tones down and blends with touches of rose and incense in the dry down. I don't get the "barnyard" scent as others are saying, the oud is very moderate yet present, especially combined with the other notes. honestly a perfect intro for those getting into oud fragrances. great sillage and above-average longevity for a "non-designer" and the price. I blind bought it and love it, and if you're familiar with oud, you'll love it as well.

This is an excellent buy if you are in the market for an affordable (synthetic) oud-centric fragrance. I find the rose note to be totally uninspired and borderline irritating, but the rest of the composition is shockingly good for the price ($35/75 mL). It’s an “east-meets-west” fragrance with a proper sharp, rotten, woody Oud that smells expensive. If I smelled Oud Mosaic blind, then was told it was a soOud composition by Stéphane Humbert Lucas, I’d believe it... This is a one spray to play kind of fragrance—anything more and you’ll be choking.

I'm not the biggest Oud fan per se,but this one is lovely.It is strong to my nose but still within my range of acceptable Oud.The Rose is strong at first then settles into a smoother juicier frag.It has great longevity on my skin anywhere from 8- 12 hours. For the price it's very nice,I have the small bottle but would consider buying the larger one. I also have Al Harmain 'Excellent Man' another Rose Saffron frag but it's so strong it nearly does me in,one spray will last 4 days.It's for sale within Canada if interested!

Simply, a masterpiece by the great master perfumer Claude Dir. Elegant, sophisticated, expertly blended, intriguing, complex, lush, addictive scent. Beautifully & stylishly presented box & bottle. Truly amazing value for niche quality – I can’t quite believe how cheap it is considering its obvious excellence. Sadly now discontinued – getting harder to find. No doubt the price is going to massively escalate once you can’t get it any more. I feel this one will go down as a classic

I've had this juice for a while now. I've only worn it a few times. I love this fragrance. The oud is there from beginning to end. I'm smelling rose and another floral (saffron?). The plum is a soft sweetness backed by the amber. It's a pleasant oud. Not risky, but also not watered down. A quiet, flowery earth with a wisp of sweetness. Lasts a good while, but not all day. Noticeable projection but not beastly. Scent: 8.5/10 Longevity: 7.5/10 Projection: 8/10 Sillage: 8.5/10

I just received a sample packet of a BR's new fragrances today and this was the first one I tried. The fragrance was sooooooo familiar to me, I was having deja vu, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Let me just say that the aroma is delicious. Then it hit me like a bag of bricks. I know this aroma. I grew up with this aroma. I have this aroma. BR's 17 Oud Mosaic smells very, very similar to my beloved original 1980's powerhouse perfume, Fendi!

Wow, perfectly blended. It's simply one of the best fragrances I own, and in one of the most affordable bottles. Rich, complex.. yet wearable and invigorating. This fragrance is still intriguing after you've smelled it a 100 times. I'm happy with the performance, the oud note really lingers for a long time. You need to like plum to love this fragrance. It's in my top 10 easily, maybe top 5 because it caters to my taste so much.

Oh how I love this fragrance!! This reminds me of the powerhouse original 1980's formulations of Oriental perfumes. This reminds me of Fendi, Opium, Theorema and all of the other gorgeous, spicy fragrance that I wore in the 80's...and still wear now. This is not for wallflowers or shy, demure women. This is for a woman that knows how to assert herself and carry herself with confidence.

This is pretty close to Oud Ispahan and the Uncompromising Sohan which both cost around 270 dollars. It also lasts almost as long as those other two. It lacks the richness and sillage as the other 2 but it's only 20.00 and you get 75% of the experience. If you are a fan of oud, or are looking to experience for beginners, this perfect for you to try on the cheap.

A rather typical oud/rose combo, but! This one's fairly cheap, has great, elegant packaging with a high quality, heavy bottle, and on my skin the scent lasts the whole day with ease. Not quite Oud Ispahan of course (it's a little sweeter and softer), but a fantastic budget-friendly option imo.

Imagine you're in a quiet resort by the sea bay in Bali, facing the tropical sunset, your mind is empty and it feels like a dream. The smell of the incense is already infused with the Jati wall. Puff....Oh wait it's just Banana Republic 17 Oud Mosaic. Love this fragrance.

This one is very nice for the price ~$20 dollars. I get intrigued by rose-oud combo, and this fragrance made me realize it. This also smells similar to Dior's Oud ispahan to me. Dior has stronger scent but Oud mosaic isn't bad either, especially at this price point!

This reminds me of Oud Ispahan and Oud Palao has a little bit of uncompromising Penhaligons but it’s a beautiful perfume. I mix it with oud Palao and it brings out a stronger projection close to Oud Ispahan because that’s my fav all time perfume.

This is very great for the price. Smells pleasant all day the oud is quite noticeable. Maybe a bit too sweet for my taste, but I'll wear this from time to time for sure. EDIT after nearly a year this is now my favorite fragrance.

Oh boy, this one here is a trickster ! Beautiful floral opening and that plum note is spot on. But about an hour or two later that funk shows up and the barnyard note is on deck. Not too offensive but yeah it gets dirty lol.

Very pleasant smelling fragrance! I am not a fan of Rose, but the Rose in this is so nice and when combined with the sweet Plum and Oud (which does not smell harsh) makes beautiful music as they say! Great buy!

If they made an oud-rose deodorant, it would smell like this. Entry-level, easy wear, fresh take. This is a no-brainer, year-round day scent. Very nice!

SUCH A SPECTACULAR BARGAIN! It is hackneyed to say a fragrance is "niche quality at designer prices," but here, that statement is accurate. 17 opens with plum. Sweet, juicy and worrying if you were hoping for a traditional oud scent. Soon, however, cardamom and a soft powdered pepper note emerge to tone down the plum's sweetness and then, just like that, the opening fruit is all but gone and a warm spicy scent remains with just enough sweetness to keep the fragrance from becoming arid. As we well and truly move into the mid, the rose and saffron step forward. This is a sweet, jammy rose and a dusty saffron. As the heart of the fragrance reaches its full expression, labdanum, slightly Smokey and a tiny bit rough is there but so is an ever more assertive, faintly barnyard, synthetic oud. Don't be put off by the words "barnyard" or "synthetic". This is good oud with just enough skank to go toe-to-toe with the rose. As the fragrance moves on from this point throughout its considerable duration, there is a bit of a leather note that is probably the oud interacting with the labdanum, saffron and the musk and amber in the basenotes. Over time, the rose, saffron and labdanum become progressively less perceptible and the oud remains. The previously mentioned amber and musk become noticeable mostly in the deep dry down, by which point the fragrance is basically a skin scent. It is a great journey from start to finish. Quality, at least to my nose, is strong. The oud never overwhelms nor does it get too rough. Amazingly, given the price disparity between 17 Oud Mosaic and Dior's Oud Ispahan, there is a marked similarity in the two fragrances. The Dior has a better smelling oud, as far as I am concerned, but this stuff probably has the better rose. That this fragrance can be fittingly compared to a product from the luxury line of a prestige house speaks to the tremendous value on offer by Banana Republic in this product. In keeping with the quality of the juice, the presentation here is first rate with a nice box, hefty lid on an attractive, if simple, bottle and a good atomizer. This is one of those rare products where, particularly with the discounts available, you can feel like you got every penny's worth from the money you spend. Who doesn't like getting a bargain once in a while? Now, to be clear, this is not the world's greatest oud fragrance. Lovers of high end natural ouds will not be wowed by this scent. But even oud snobs will have to admit that this fragrance is very good for the price. There is also the question of why the plum appears in the top notes. Perhaps it is there to create "mass market appeal" or, worse still, to trick customers by presenting a trendy note on in store tester strips. In any event, surely the value for money aspect of this fragrance should be appealing enough. We have here, a regrettable case of "gratuitous fruiting." This choice detracts from the rest of the scent and was poorly considered. Thankfully, it is very fleeting and is not a major issue. It turns out that even if you have a collection loaded with fragrances from Bortnikoff, Ensar, Areej and Elixr Attar, there are times when it is nice to wear an oud scent that is easier--both to wear and for those around you to smell. 17 Oud Mosaic is a great choice on such occasions. You should buy a bottle if you like rose/oud scents. Then you can wear it on days when you'll enjoy its surprising quality while doing ordinary things just as I am today. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go to the hardware store and buy a box of LED bulbs. 😉. Recommended.

One of the best $20 I’ve spent on a perfume. IMO there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the quality, performance or smell here... in fact I think it smells fantastic. Sure, it’s a popular DNA... the oud/rose combo is so common, but the plum and cardamom are a really nice touch. As for the quality, well, it smells like agarwood oil to me... perhaps on the synthetic side depending on who you ask, but for the casual wearer of oud or for someone just getting into it, this is fantastic and an excellent place to start. It’s very well blended. There’s a very slight hint of skank in here but nothing barnyard, smokey or fecal... in fact it’s on the alluring side. The rose is very pleasant... it’s not too jammy, floral or feminine... it’s soft and very well balanced, along with the rest of the notes. The saffron is quite subtle, however, I think it mainly makes up the scent of oud here... it’s a touch leathery, as well. The amber and musk add a bit of depth and clean up the mix nicely. Again, it’s clean, smooth and very well balanced. All in all, another gem from this fantastic Banana Republic Icon line. 78 Vintage Green is an amazing clean grassy vetiver, close to Guerlain Vetiver. Linen Vetiver is beautiful and smells just as it sounds, it’s soft, breezy, fresh and clean, along the lines of Bal D’Afrique. Cypress Cedar is another excellent vetiver/citrus/woodsy scent that smells like Terre D’Hermes and the other I have is Metal Rain, that’s basically a blend of Silver Mountain Water and Narciso Rodriguez For Him EDT... you’ll have to like metallic notes with some black currant, florals, musk and lots of ambroxin... it’s very unique. I find this to be very easy to wear and on the fresher side... I’m currently wearing Oud Mosaic this afternoon, the end of May, the temperature is mid 60’s, it’s sunny, I’m sitting on my patio listening to the birds chirping, smelling the flowers from my garden along with the rose in this perfume and it’s just so damn pleasant... I might need to up my sprays! So for me, this can be worn any time, any season, as long as the temperature is below 70° F. It’s really no surprise to me this perfume is this good, it’s a Claude Dir creation... he has worked a handful of Zaharoff’s, including the lovely Signature Rosé and this style seems to be his forte. I’ve been on the hunt for this one months now and had a feeling I’d enjoy it... I just can’t believe the quality here for $20... just awesome. I’d say if this fragrance intrigues you and you can find it for under $50 buy it... it’s worth it.

***Update 7/2/26*** So it seems that good ol' "Maturation" did the trick here! What was initially and unpleasant "Funk" in the far dry-down has now become what to my nose smells like a leather facet almost certainly from the Saffron note! Also, the opening is prolongened and now joins the "Leathery note" in the far dry-down making for a pretty darned good Pud/Rose scent. Excellent longevity (7-8 hours on dkin/Moderate projection) Im impressed Banana Republic! Go' Head! Lol! ________________________________________ ***Initial thoughts*** Go rigure! So far the Longest-Lasting and stromgest projecting from this amazing "Icon Line" may ljust be my LEAST FAVORITE! This fragrance starts of slightly medicinal which I actually enjoy itn my fragrances, then during the mid that "Jammy Rose" and Plum combo imo smells quite beautiful, but then in the far-dry down and for most of the wear which is approximately 8 hours on skin with moderate projection, there's this "FUNK" and I know its an "Oud fragrance" but that gorgeous Rose and Plum just DOES NOT carry over to the far dry down unfortunately and Im only getting that straight up FUNK! It doesn't smell "Poopy" to me, its more of this slightly powdersd funkiness which sorta reminds me.of someone who hasnt showered in a week and then tried to cover the smell up with perfume or something.. I had a neighbor (Older.Lady) whod do that. Lol! Maybe with a bit of Maturation this scent will blend a bit more and the notes will meld together better, but for now that dry-down is just not very pleasant, and I love a challenging fragrance with touches of Oud, but ya gotta get pleasant smelling notes to go along with that STRAIGHT FUNK!! Anyhow, its still not the worst fragrance Ive evwr smelled, but it sure aint one of the best! 78 Vintage Green still sit on top of the heap and is my favorite from this line. It also has pretty decent longevity (6 to 7 hours on skin) but I go anosmic to it super fast which is such a bumber! Well thanks to whomever took the time.. CHEERS!!

Ill try to keep this succinct and to the point... To me, this is a fascinating mix of a fresher-feeling rose with some slightly skanky oud. I get a touch of plum but never any significant sweetness to my nose. Something about the fresh take on rose mixing with that slightly animalic oud just keeps me coming back for more. Its addicting, and a totally awesome release for the house (i mean come on, its Banana Republic) and the price. While i dont think this is super challenging, i dont think its an easy wear either. If you are looking to branch out and experience some slightly animalic takes on oud without going too crazy, this is a must try. P.S. so I had a few people smell this one (men & women) and said that they didnt really get much skank from the oud here. Maybe i should have let it sit a bit longer as i think the skanky facets dont really make themselves known until 1+ hours in, but i still dont think its a challengingly animalic fragrance at any point in its life. Overall positive reactions, and I think that is partially due to the performance, which isnt great. But, it certainly adds to the accessibility and wearability of this fragrance. Scent: 8/10 Quality: 6.5/10 Longevity: 5/10 Projection: 6/10 Uniqueness: 7.5/10 (extra points here because its a BR fragrance) Wearability: 7.5/10 Overall: 7.5/10 Performance isnt great, but i actually think that adds to the wearability of this one. Solid scent, reasonable quality, and a true gem amongst the icon line.

Yes, very similar to Oud Ispahan and I like it. To my nose, this one is a more tamed and wearable version. This is also affordable like Oud Touch by Franck Olivier, another frag being compared to OI. Banana republic is known for great smelling fragrances but most have embarrassing performance. Well, if you are looking for a high quality oud fragrance that last forever, you have to pay the price and you wont find it here. But at this price point, this one is not bad at all. Here, you'll get a little value added on what you pay for. It's reasonably priced and has some punch if need be. Oud fragrances are not for everybody. But this fragrance was not created for nothing. It caters to some fragrance patrons who wants to experience a more affordable oud scent, although synthetic but more wearable. Great for night outs, formal or casual, from fall to early spring. If you wear this with confidence and style and at the right season and occasion, no one would suspect that you are wearing cheap synthetic oud frag. Unless there's some expert nose around who knows genuine oud by heart but they wouldn't bother you for sure. Who knows, it can even grab you some attention. Whether some folks like it or not, it boils down to the main premise, "To each his own". “Let us spread the scents of peace and kindness. I've owned this one for over a year and WOW has this thing beautified over time. It started off ok and a bit unappealing, but boy does it smell lovely today! The plum has softened. The cardamom and black pepper add a beautiful spiced kick to the opening. Saffron and labdanum add a soft, leathery, ambery vibe in the heart that I really like. A subtle, but really nice rose note emerges in the heart and compliments the spice and plum in the opening. Here's where it REALLY changed and improved....the OUD and MUSK really cranked up and became so much more lovely! The oud isn't skanky or overpowering, but its most definitely noticeable and enjoyable. The musk is definitely bold, and I dont mind that at all. The dry down is really all about oud, musk and lingering rose, pepper and a bit of that leathery vibe from saffron and labdanum. Here's my general take about ANY fragrance. GIVE IT TIME. I see people slamming fragrances all the time because they don't immediately smell phenomenal. I own A LOT of fragrances, and on so many occasions fragrances that started ok or even "bad" have macerated into something amazing and even beautiful. This is definitely one of the latter. I'm pleasantly surprised at how amazing this one smells today!!

I just got a travel size of this. Nothing new or unique, but as much as I like the oud/rose/saffron combo, I haven't really found one I've wanted to wear or own. Many I've tried have a jammy rose which I usually find too sweet or "oud"/woody notes that are too harsh and acetone-y like Dior Oud Ispahan and pretty much all the Montale ouds. This one is the perfect balance for me. It's not sweet or syrupy. The rose and woods are dry, even slightly bitter and nothing irritates my sinuses or gives me a headache. True, the longevity isn't stellar but I'm ok with 4-5 hours of wear and lower sillage, especially for the price. Actually, I tested all of the BRs and they're all well done, wearable, and can definitely rival some pricier niche IMO.

The first Oud base fragrance that I really like. I started with YSL M7 Oud Absolu, which I simply hate for being medicinal, apart from being very very weak. Many years passed since that bad experience. Until I gave Oud Mosaic, a change. After this positive experience, I recently bought Acqua di Parma, Oud Eau de Parfum for 8times the price of Oud Mosaic. Not sure yet which one I prefer and that should say enough. Edit: After 12 hours still nice and present. For sure I like Oud Mosaic more than Acqua di Parma, Oud Eau de Parfum. Amazing. Acqua di Parma is the most expensive fragrance I have from this brand, out of 13. Really love the brand but Oud Eau de Parfum is just disappointing. So is Mirra ECC.

For the money you spend, this is good value. However, I agree with others that this can come across very barnyard-y, compared to Oud Ispahan & Oud Touch, as they are better choices (even though Oud touch is even more synthetic) However, if you still have this and want to give it a chance, you can easily fix the stinky-ness by layering something super sweet (preferably a designer-ish EDT that's common and not long lasting on its own, aka JPGs & Paco Rabanne's) and your problem will be solved by going into the Xerjoff direction. And then if you want to go to the Amouage direction, then overlay it with something fresh, green, spicy, dry earthy, mossy.

For the price ($19.99 at Ross) you cant go wrong. It smells very niche and high end with a distinctive oud and leathery smell. The rose and plumb is minimum as the amber, pepper and musk give this a subtle backbone. I can see this selling at Saks from another designer for triple the cost. Longevity and projection is more on the subtle side and very masculine in my book. However as soft as the dry down is, it lasts a solid 6+ hours. Smells remarkably like David Yurman Limited Edition but a lot softer and more wearable. I have both, so I feel this is good for the office, then spray DY later in the day when you heading out to dinner after work.

This is my preferable Oud fragrance. And by far the most affordable I have, Animalic but not medicinal. I recently gave M7Oud Absolut by YSL away, for smelling medicinal for about 2 hours and then....micro skin scent. It took me years to appreciate Aqua di Parma Oud EDP, the most expensive I own. Strangely enough I was also surprised by a Divain Clone of Oud Malaki by Chopard, which I like much more than the original. These 3 oud fragrances do all perform very well. Much better than Tom Ford Oud Wood or Versace Oud Noir. But I do love the scents of these two more. (Sorry, I know it sounds complicated)

I am liking this one a lot, the spicy-oud combination is one I'm not acquainted with yet and I'm just starting to explore oud fragrances. I like the white pepper-cardamam-saffron effect, it's a very clean type of spicy. Otherwise it's a bit green and musky rose, nothing dirty/animalic in it at all. There's also bit of leathery ambery plum, and the oud is what I smell that lingers in the air all around me when I don't have my face right up next to where I sprayed trying to identify it. This is exotic and beautiful, and it smells like it would cost a lot more than it does. This one is a treat!

This is a solid oud-light fragrance. While the oud is present and recognizable, it has been balanced out with the Turkish rose and musk, making this an interesting, workplace-appropriate fragrance. Longevity is in the 10-12 hour range, and sillage is moderate. Taking into consideration the quality of the composition and the excellent price point, this is well-worth making a trip to your local BR for a test. In fact, as of February 2018, the BR factory stores also carry the complete Icon Collection at 30% (or more) off the MSRP of ~$50 for the 75ml bottles—an amazing deal!

I got Banana Republic's 17 OUD Mosaic as a gift several years ago and, I love❤️it to bad Banana Republic no longer makes this fragrance yet alone any fragrances. This OUD is nice except it can be very strong for me. If a fragrance like this is to strong don't spay anywhere on on your neck so you're not constantly breathing it in. I usually spay a strong fragrance like this in my lower armpits and upper back...3 sprays, and that's it. I wear it from time to time and, can be used for all seasons. Day or evening. Again Banana Republic no longer makes this fragrance.😩

After my horrible experience with YSL Oud Absolu back in 2014, I have dismissed all Oud fragrances for 5 years. Last year I gave Oud another chance with Banana Republic Oud Mosaic, for a third of the price of the overhyped YSL. This one is more Animalic than Medicinal and therefore a much better option for me. Today I took a shower after 6 hours of wearing it and I still can detect it on my backhands afterwards. Good to very good projection. So it even performs much better. I will reconsider other Oud fragrances now, as long as they are not medicinal.

my first oud frag. its basically just rose and oud nothing else, they overpower everything and you really have to search for the notes with a fine nose. however this is great to start with if you want to get introduced to the oud rose combo which there r like thousands of fragrances on. this is a very synthetic boring version of it but for the price its great. and the bottle is SO GOOD. the pipe goes clear through the juice u can even see it and the glass is rlly thicc and the cap is magnetic and heavy af. id get it just for the bottle.
