Malachite

The immediate image that appears upon spraying and inhaling Malachite is of a cool, clean, serene, magical pool, deep inside a beautifully dark, mossy forest. The floor of the pool is composed of rocks, so the feeling is of water that is quite clean, but not overly 'fresh' and somehow earthy, rather than dirty. I can sense the roles of all of the listed notes in Malachite. The water hyacinth as the water, of course. The green mango supplies the green and the bit of tropical nuance. The peony lends a cool, sleek feel almost like a stone- I've experienced peony similarly before, in Kate by Kate Moss, where it 'feels' a bit like cool porcelain. The musk/ vanilla/sandalwood collaborate skillfully in Malachite, to bring the feeling of clean, calm skin, just bathed and moisturized. The black pepper grounds everything and gives the clean-yet-earthy facet I enjoy so much about the composition. It is extremely rare for me to rock anything green or aquatic, and Malachite is so... both of those... but, I am pleased to say, I can quite successfully wear this one! Most of my collection is made of bold orientals, fuzzy musks, spicy roses and sticky gourmands. I think Malachite works so well for me because its green is cool and clean, rather than aggressively fresh, vegetal, sporty or other characteristics that can take an odd turn on my skin- characteristics typical of notes like grass and geranium. I do love mango in fragrance, so perhaps 'green mango' brings the green in a way that is wearable for me. When I have been able to wear aquatics, it has been because the notes responsible for the aquatic feel were floral- I'm thinking of violet leaf and lotus, mainly- so I can see how water hyacinth works in Malachite to achieve this watery effect. I have noticed that when florals are used to give the sense of 'water', the result is a cool, placid aquatic, rather than a cold rush of surf. No need to reiterate how handsome (and relevant to the juice inside) the bottle and the wooden box are. Sillage is just shy of arm's length, on me. I applied liberally last night, and am still wearing Malachite enough to smell it without really trying, this morning. Of the Banana Republic fragrances, I have so far collected Rosewood, Alabaster, Republic of Women and, now, Malachite. I love them all, for vastly varied reasons. I am joyfully surprised to find Malachite, in all its green, aquatic glory, right at the top of that list.

I love this. It's very green and fresh. I don't get floral really at all. I would happily make this my work signature because it is cool and calm. Hopefully it would influence me and give the impression that I am composed, confident, and professional (haha). If my lawyer was wearing this I would trust her implicitly :) It also makes me think of Hawai'i. Although not sure why. Possibly the torrential rain that I happened to be in one day on the Big Island, refreshing the air and pounding the lush greenery. It is a nature's laundry-type clean scent. Gorgeous. Longevity poor and sillage/projection not great but it's not vastly expensive so reapplication would not be a huge issue.

I won Malachite in a fellow Fragrantican's giveaway. This is not something I would have purchased for myself, because I associate the store Banana Republic with yuppies and preppies, whom I generally dislike. However, this is NOT a perfume for yuppies or preppies, and I LOVE it! Malachite is a mysterious semi-aquatic oriental fougere, with a sort of "barbershop for ladies" vibe at times. The pepper adds a spicy, bold aroma that blends well with the watery florals and musky incense. The mango creates a note that is similar to Polo Black, but with a touch of feminine vanilla. Longevity and sillage are good. This could be an "office-friendly" perfume if applied lightly.

I have loved the bottle, the name, the idea of this fragrance for some years but for some peculiar reason never bought it until recently. First spray and I could not stop sniffing my wrist. How come this is so wonderful? Delicate watery flowers (not Calone watery, more like the smell of flower garden during rain) and spices, fresh but soft. The spices and the sandalwood become more prominent as it dries down.

I didn't notice the resemblance at first spray.Today, after a shower I applied and then it came to me.Alfred Sung "Sung".A fragrance I owned in the early nineties.It is a wet tart floral. The hyacinth, sandalwood and vanilla really tie these 2 perfume together. I had to give up Sung during my pregnancy in the 90's-I could NOT stomach it! It appears hyacinth and I are friends again!

I am absolutely head over heels in love with this fragrance. Absolutely beautiful floral notes that make you feel beautiful and angelic. This is a year round stunner and can be worn day or night. There’s no way you can smell this and not feel confident. I have fallen in love.

Agree, that this is a winter scent. Fresh, cold air, snow and cold passing clean wind. Blind buy, impressed! Great for every day. Pleasant, soft silk. I want to tie it to lotus scent, even if it is not there, for me it is definitely lotus scent.

I had been curious about this one for a while because of its gorgeous bottle design and color, not to mention the very low price now that it is so deeply discounted, but I was leery of the mango note. What tipped the scales for me to yes was the enthusiastic endorsement of Wendi of Wendi's Parade of Perfume, on YouTube, one of the few fragrance influencers I trust and consistently enjoy. (If you don't watch her yet, by all means seek out her perfume channel on YouTube.) As usual, Wendi described Malachite very well, and she assured mango skeptics that this is a very, very green mango. I agree and would say that the mango here smells more like cucumber or something else very watery and pleasantly '90s coded. Not very sweet, not very vegetal, just fresh-ozonic in the calone-forward kind of way that seemed to emerge toward the end of the 20th century. The downside of Malachite is that you do need to overspray a bit--at least I do. And it's probably a freshie, but it's not the kind of freshie that you were probably expecting. It smells to me like someone who has just bathed with Irish Spring soap, slathered on a lot of cucumber-melon body lotion from the mall, and taken a leisurely stroll in a pine forest. It's not a particularly hot day today--for early August, in Missouri, it is actually unseasonably cool--so theoretically I could have put on almost any perfume, but I wanted to try this one, which is new to my collection. I can tell I will be turning to it on days when it's super hot, and I do not want to smell remotely sweet or edible, but I also don't want to commit to a full-fledged chypre or something. This is for those times when you want to smell soapy, but not in the glamorous aldehydic Chanel No. 5 kind of way. This is your grandpa's soap, never mind the florals, which somehow reinforce the calone effect (water hyacinth and peony both seem to work really well in aquatic freshies, I have noticed). That is not to say that it smells masculine. On a man, it would sell masculine, and on a woman it would smell feminine, which makes me think of the old Irish Spring TV commercial slogan that my friends and I used to make fun of all the time as kids: "Made for a man--but *I* like it too." This wasn't made for a man and appears to be marketed to women, but I think it is unisex in exactly the same way that Irish Spring soap, pine sap, and cucumbers are unisex. I find gender categories for perfume rather mystifying, personally. But if you gave a bottle of Malachite to your husband or (male) lover, he would probably not think you were trying to emasculate him. In fact, the bottle (so beautiful that it looks like a nod to Elsa Peretti) will make him think that you spent a lot more on it than you did, especially if you manage to find a bottle in the original wooden box it came in. (The gray market sites all seem to have the more minimalist usual Banana Republic box, which is understandable, given the perfume's low price point.) I'm not giving it to my husband, though, because I had nothing else in my collection remotely like it, and I needed a fragrance that wouldn't make me sick when it the heat index is well into the triple digits. I found this cute green perfume at Burlington for 10 bucks. I will say it is quite strange, but in a good way. I understand where this could be read as masculine, but I also see this being worn by a confident bold rich woman. I am not keen to masc. scents, I don't like them, but this one is sweet, white floral and extremely fresh smell, think spa soap bar that leaves you smelling just like the soap. I approach this fragrance like the name itself. It is supposed to invoke the energy of Malachite, which in itself a odd and strange crystal that can also turn deadly if handled incorrectly. This perfume is a piece of art, in my opinion, not an everyday perfume. The longevity is eternal, and sillage is broad, I wore this with ansaam gold (don't ask I'm still new to layering) and I think I made my uber cough, sorry! It is strong but so beautiful. I noticed recently it gets more femm when I add anything coconut with it. I say if you have this, try layering with sweeter scents and it may work out.

I like this! A 00s fresh-floral that is stuck in 90s. It's taking that classic powdery x floral Nivea lotion accord of jasmine-rose (here we have peony instead)-violet and combining with the watery notes at times coming up as cucumber, melon or violet leaf, I believe here they went for mango, but absolutely lacking the sourness and sweetness to be called a proper mango. I would say it's stlil more like Nivea lotion cucumber edition. The sandalwood showing face 10-20 minutes in, along with hefty dose of white musk. Simple but beautiful, late dry down reveals vanilla and sandalwood more, that part has a similar vibe to Allure / Benetton Hot. To me this is only unisex if a guy enjoys the prolonged scent of a cucumber hand lotion or shower gel in the form of a perfume. Otherwise I would say it's quite fresh-floral and feminine. Lotion is really the word that comes to my mind at every stage of the wear.

Banana Republic MALACHITE opens slightly soapy to my nose but then proceeds swiftly to smooth out into an appealing woodsy oriental with a detectable dose of green mango that adds a unique texture. Depth is also imparted by a good (unnamed) fixative--could be benzoin... I wasn't sure what to expect from Banana Republic, but I must say that with MALACHITE I am pleasantly surprised. I like the rather eccentric inversion of the soap presentation, which here comes first, not last. I also can't think of any fragrance that is anyting like MALACHITE--it really seems to occupy a node all its own... The edp has excellent longevity and sillage, and since I love good soapy scents anyway, MALACHITE is a delight from beginning to end! I also think that this fragrance is very well named, given its density and thickness, like a smooth polished cabochon stone.

I just got this and so far, i really like it! It is definitely a clean scent, a floral clean. I mainly get hyacinth, but it isnt overpowering or screechy. It does make me think of the color green, im not sure what peony smells like, so cant comment there. It has woods but i dont smell amber. I do agree with the medicinal description, that is a good description, but in a good way! It has like an apothecary feeling or natural healing center vibe. I get the vision of trees, more than plants. I dont think it has an age limit. I think young, middle aged or older could wear and be fine. More of bohemian and natural versus sexy, chic, trendy, powerful, or flirty. Cant comment about performance yet but i dont find it beastly. More soft. This is a good jeans tshirt scent. Feels ethereal and casual. Def feminine.

My new addition Another blind buy 🙈 😁 First impression - it's a very clean scent, when you first spray it, it's harsh a bit 'cold' even, you need to wait for it to warm up, then it reveals the hyacinth, quite fade but dominant. For this reason at least on the skin I'm finding it hard to consider it unisex. It's like a really floral soap, not sweet, I'm not getting any fruity notes🥭 👀 Woody, soapy, floral I didn't get the fancy packaging 😌 Edit: 2 hours in, and I'm now getting the rose, a dusty one, still no vanilla. I don't think I can wear it without adding sweetness, my nose craves it It's really a light floral, you can smell the hyacinths in the opening then it comes the peony and rose. Oddly enough I'm getting a hint of olive?! For sure is hormones related

Very light watery floral fragrance.... it smells somehow tropical. I can easily imagine rainy tropical forest with pleasant soft smell of flowers. It's kinda "I'm already showered" perfume, clean and fresh, not sweet and not sour, just clean tropical floral. Easy to wear for any occasion through the day. I sometimes apply it before going to bed, as it is so uncomplicated and calming! It's wonderful scent. Unfortunately is not very strong, and requires a concrete application to smell a bit longer. Wooden box is elegant and it seems to me very practical, because the perfume bottle is protected from light, which usually changes and ruins the smell of perfume. I like the solution with dark wooden box, it's gorgeous and I could have it exposed on the shelf.

I really enjoy this scent and wear it quite often! I find it unique, slightly green, with an elegant and musky base that makes it a sophisticated freshie! It does smell slightly soapy which I love. I get compliments on it often and even gave one to a friend that had complimented me on it. It smells absolutely amazing on her chemistry, even better than it does on me! I’ve never remotely considered it masculine however smelling it now, I think I could go a bit unisex! I really don’t pick up a lot of florals, mainly the green melon and woody notes. I don’t have anything in my collection like this. It’s a keeper. It’s not my favorite, but it’s good when I’m in the mood for it! I also think it’s something that could be worn all year.

Quite soapy at the beginning but mellows and to me is most of all the smell of a newly used shower, or freshly washed, still damp hair. I don't pick up any sandalwood or pepper in this. If I breathe on my wrist I get a slightly more distinct flower note, haven't ever smelled water hyacinth before but maybe that's what it is? Surprisingly musky a few hours in-more than I expected. I have the impression of being in a hothouse, full of exotic, fragant blooms. A very comforting scent. Perfect if your workplace has a policy against strong perfume or if you're otherwise prevented from wearing something more distinct/powerful.

I have a sample of this and I think this perfume would work for a man or a woman. This must work well with my chemistry because I don't get the bitter note or anything putrid. It's fresh but has depth to it. It smells a little like Polo for men in the green bottle at first. On me it has this warm incense smell, but also remains fresh.. hard to describe it. I know I like it because this is a scent I remember, and it's just different from my other perfume picks.I guess this one either works for you or it doesn't.

to me this is a true winter scent. Not the "cozy by the fire with some wine and your honey" type of winter scent but more the "out on a horse riding through a forest in the early morning snow" type of winter scent. The first smell is sharp and almost feels masculine but then softens and blooms slightly then the woods are left. Not long lasting but I am really liking this. I have so few winter scents! Worth a try but don't judge by initial sniff! it does stay close to the skin on me.

This is an interesting scent. To my nose it is aquatic, soapy, a little powdery, spicy with green florals. The green florals are not very sweet. This seems like more of a unisex fragrance than a solidly female fragrance. It is a "mature" scent in the cosmopolitan sense - not the grandma sense. When I use this, I apply it liberally because it doesn't last long. I like it, but don't love it and I do wear it when in the mood. It seems more like a fall/winter scent to me.

I love this so much! It's like nothing I've ever worn or owned! It's intense, yet not overpowering, perfect for summer nights. Yesterday I purchased a mini of it, only for 2,5 euro and I am soo happy. Most prominent notes on me are water hyacinth and mango. Definitely my perfume for summer parties 2016! P.S. I think that the notes include also gardenia and coriander, I can smell a strong spicy accord and it's not only the black pepper!

I loved this the first time I smelled it on one of my close friends - it's softly floral, but it has a crisp watery note that makes it seem super clean. On her, it was stunning, but on me, it turns into dollar store hand soap. For those of you that this works on, you are blessed, because this is absolutely beautiful. I highly suggest trying this out, especially since you can still find it for fairly cheap.

This is a very nice casual scent- the floral notes stand out well at the beginning without being too obnoxious. Oddly enough, I get a noticeable whiff of licorice in the beginning too. There’s only a little musk and pepper in this, but it’s just enough to to balance out the floral notes and mango. I wish it lasted longer, though; it wears off after a few hours and it’s not too noticeable from a distance.

Received this in a full bottle swap, and am enjoying it. Starts off peppery but dries down musky before it gets too much. The peony adds a clean soapy scent, the fruit a touch of sweetness. It's fresh in a masculine invigorating way - like you've just stepped out of the shower after using your boyfriend's shower gel and then put a floral talc on. It's nothing dramatic or obtrusive, and is very wearable.

This was my blind purchase! The bottle and the name of perfume were intriguing and arrived in a very beautiful wood box. I can't say that this is love of whole my life, but perfume is unusual, feminine. I think the Malachite shows all the beauty in rainy weather,like sweet peony under the rain. Nice, unique, perfume.

I could see this smelling lovely on a rainy day or camping. I think it'd be perfect for outdoor activities even a brisk evening walk on the beach. This is a unique little scent which could fill a small void in my wardrobe. Very inexpensive pleasant scent. I want to try it with some vanilla to mix it up a bit.

On me this is a powdery sandalwood. I smell peony, but hidden in a shadow. It's not one I reach for very often (I've had it for years), but tonight after a hot bath I put a bit on and was reminded why I haven't given it away :)

very nice. interesting and original, but above all pleasant. its a well balanced perfume, not sexy but very idiosyncratic if i can say so, which makes me feel calm and content. i'm very happy with this purchase.

If you’re looking for a realistic soap scent, this is it. I love the opening and I like the scent itself, but on the drydown it turns a little bit vintage. Good for clean scent lovers. I love the bottle 💚🧼

Unisex to me. In a world of all these male vanilla spicebomb, scandal, one millions...rock this to a bar and stand out. Enough vanilla to hold its own, but fresh and floral to stand out a bit.

A very clean aquatic floral with a nice soapy dry down. Perfect for when you want to feel fresh or get that just out of the shower fragrance. Overall a pleasant work perfume

Very unusual perfume. Lots of nowadays perfumes are sound so much alike, but this one among of those has got individuality. Its not oriental type of perfume..woody oriental maybe slightly, but somehow it is quite a strong, but at the same time, soapy floral scent with a notes of aquatic and pepper. Green floral or floral woody? Vanilla I do not hear here at all. Leading here of course water hyacinth and peony. Flowers are absolute bosses here. Opening does not differ too much from other stages after. Its actually, the same scent from the start till the end. That is the trait which does not put this perfume too high among luxury perfumes, but it is very worthy to own it in a collection still. It is a little green emerald for those days when you want to have exactly this scent, which does not reminds you any other much.(in my case does not reminds me any other). Originality: 5/5 Longevity: 4/5 Sillage: 4/5 Versatility: not for parties, but for daily use. Quality:4/5 (I do not feel here much synthetics. Those are scents of a natural origin most likely.).

Surprised to see that floral and tropical are the main accords on here, because on me it is a fresh, aquatic green scent. It smells like a body wash that would be called "fresh forest" or something with a green label. Not that I get any woods here, but because the green mango doesn't really add a fruitiness like ripe fruit, but a crisp, green, unripe note. The water hyacinth makes it aquatic, but I don't get the hyacinth part (or the peony) until a couple of hours in, it's almost faded, but I stick my nose to my arm and can faintly detect some florals amongst the freshness. As it is, it's kind of blah. I have lots of fresh scents and this one isn't unique enough to wow me. But it was really inexpensive, and I am going to use it to layer with some floral perfumes for summer to make them a little fresher

Perhaps this is the water hyacinth but there is one note in this and one note alone - soap. This translates solely as a Dove soap smell on me, nothing more nothing less. Certainly a clean, boring and inoffensive smell, I will give it that. The bottle is attractive.

I bought a small bottle just to try it and am very glad I did not purchase a big one. The opening smells like celery seeds to me, I really do not like it. Then, after a while it gets a bit better, but... oh well

Opened like freshly chopped parsley and faded to skin scent in 20 minutes. I don't smell the notes and accords listed. Just parsley. It was an interesting experience but not what I'm looking for from perfume.

Nothing could have prepared me for this perfume! It reminds me of a New Orleans swamp in the spring at midnight. Spring is festival season in the south, when it's the perfect temperature - not too hot and humid. This is why all of the music festivals usually take place at this time. It's also when a lot of the flowers start to bloom, and the swamp is cool and breezy. About this time in the Spring, when you go to the swamps, you get the smell of the blooming water hyacinth, mixed with the moss and all the wood floating in the water, and that is what Malachite smells like. I would say that this perfume is very "cold" feeling and linear. I would have really liked some warmth in it to bring in the memory of the fireflies, the frogs croaking and the crickets singing, but without the warmth, it's way too cold and quiet. It's like the swamp but totally lifeless. Also, it is way too light on my skin; I practically have to shower in it to get a good sniff. My skin is too dry to "hold" this scent past an hour. Plus, none of this fragrance magic happens until about an hour into the drydown. By then, I have to reapply and start all over! Edit: I tried layering it with some "warmth". I tried a spritz of Yves Rocher Vanilla Bourbon, then re-dabbed Malachite twice (to roughly make a two to one ratio with more Malachite than Vanilla). I thought the "Bourbon" would be appropriate for my New Orleans magic potion as a wink to Bourbon Street, and BINGO! It added the warmth I was looking for, and now I have my perfect New Orleans swamp at dusk smell, complete with water hyacinth, spanish moss, floating wood, fireflies and all! The only downside is that both fragrances are light, so I will have to reapply every hour, but worth it!

Yes this one is a little odd, but I adore it and think it's incredibly well-made. I never noticed the bitterness others mentioned - it's probably a difference of skin. On me it's an unlikely mix of woods and spices and herbs that just grows deeper and richer as time goes by. My nose isn't very well trained, so it's hard to explain exactly what I smell. My general impression is: matches the deep green hue of the bottle very well, very modern egg-shaped thing, aromatic, should be labeled uni-sex, woody earthy sensuous, but a little spice of pure bizzare. Unique enough to be a signature scent. Warm herby and perfect for a fall day. I agree with aeternitas, it would suit a powerful, competitive, agressive personality. Unique and quirky at home, yes, but a woman with very defined sense of personal style, a fighter and a go-getter.

I've been trying with Banana Republic Malachite, off and on, several times, over a period of months, and I just can't get there. There's something strange to my nose about the particular combination of mango -- which I love -- with the water hyacinth and peony. I don't know what water hyacinth smells like, but I do know that peony and I don't always get along; it can veer too far into floral freshie territory, and it does that here. Other fresh peony scents I haven't enjoyed at all are Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, Calvin Klein Eternity Moment, and Elizabeth Arden Pretty, but if you like any of these, you may also enjoy Malachite. There are some peony scents I do love, though; Cool Water Sea Rose, Prada Candy Florale, and Louis Vuitton Attrape-Reves, to name a few -- but not BR Malachite. So I'll be decluttering this bottle.

After trying this perfume I read a bunch of reviews on various websites, and I had to wonder when reading the reviews for this fragrance if I was actually using the same scent as the rest of the reviewers. Reading the list of notes for this perfume it sounded promising- the florals and the fruity notes sounded fantastic (green mango? absolutely!). The problem for me seems to lie in the musk, and particularly sandalwood notes. Once I put this perfume on it smelled like wood and musk. I got very little in the way of feminine florals. In fact, the scent smelled almost masculine on me. This was not a winner for me, but it might be great for those who generally find perfumes to be too girly/flowery. Definitely not very wearable on me.

...It's the green mango...I've been disappointed with every perfume that has a mango note. I LOVE to eat mangos but there is just something that they just can't replicate in perfume. or at least I have yet to find one that smells like real mangos to me. I'm sure I would have loved this if not for green mango. I've read reviews that say it's a "strange" one & it is & not in a good way either. I love the bottle. 💚 I donated this one. 😒Pew 🦨

Deeply sweet and a little bit spicy. But I agree its similar to Kenneth Cole Reaction. Its watery and floral-soapy at the same time. Its a quite complex fragrance, but definitely not for teenagers. As I already have Reaction I think its not so exciting or unique to buy this, but could be an affordable alternative after I finish my bottle. UPDATE: Soapy drydown with light floral, no spice anymore just at the beginning. Pity...

I remember falling for the impressive packaging, sadly the scent wasn't for me. Sharp, astringent, and not feminine but not quite masculine either.

The wooden box packaging is impressive. There's green velvet inside and the lettering on the outside is actually carved into the wood. There's even a BR carved into the metal cap of the perfume bottle. I'm sad BR doesn't make this wooden box type of packaging anymore, but I'm assuming it was more expensive to produce. Now on to the actual scent! Honestly I didn't know what to expect, because it seemed like almost everyone's review mentioned that it smelled strange. It smells sort of like a shower gel, but not exactly like a perfume. There's a note of celery or something green in it, and I can vaguely smell the green mango in the background, but it's a slightly awkward combination of notes. I would classify it as a unisex scent. It's not a strong or heavy scent, but there is a depth to it. I think if you like green and aquatic scents, you may like it. There's no creaminess or floral notes that I can detect. It's a unique freshie.

I bought a bottle of this a LONG time ago after sniffing at at Banana Republic. I'm not one for buying "clothing store" perfumes (though once I bought a Gap scent called "Grass") -- but this one struck a chord with me. Why? It smelled creamy, sophisticated and different -- and still "appropriate" for work. It smelled expensive, and well rounded. I have a large perfume collection, and am fairly knowledgeable about the structure of perfumes. But I couldn't tell what Malachite's notes were -- even whether it was predominantly floral -- or what? It smelled modern and somehow reserved, even aloof, formal, but why? Its cool aloofness reminds me a bit of YSL's NU, even though NU is definitely not a floral! Now that I see what Malachite's notes are (above), I'm more informed, but I still can't unwrap this perfume's composition when I smell it. I'm not a lover of floral perfumes, tending much more toward the spicy and woody, but this scent still spoke to me. Anyway, I wore it several times, and first decided it was too "conventional." It lacked warmth, and seemed too sweet and flowery for me. Then I tried it again, and got more of a creamy vanilla feel, still with a somewhat aloof quality that I now found appealing. It's been six years since I got it: I don't wear it, but can't seem to get rid of it. I guess there is a mysterious olfactory space in my perfume repertoire that only this can fill.

I bought this from TJ Maxx, and think I'll be taking it back. At first sniff (in the store, the pkg was open), I thought I loved this. It seemed like a floral-watery fragrance that worked on me, which is rare indeed. It doesn't turn sour (which most florals do) but I just don't like it. It starts out peppery and bright, with a crispness (must be the mango). It quickly dries down to a mild green fragrance--melon, cucumber and celery is what it reminds me of, although those are certainly not the notes. I think that must be the water hyacinth, although it is barely a floral fragrance to my nose and "watery" is a good description. I catch only the tinyest hint of vanilla, amber or musk--I think most of that comes as an illusion created by the dark wooden box, which creates the impression that this will be a woody/ambery fragrance. Sillage seems low, and longevity only about 2 hours on me (and slightly longer on my clothes). It is beautifully packaged, and I had such high hopes, but I really can't say it was worth what I paid for it. So, I'm glad I kept my receipt!

To me this is not an Oriental....it feels more like a Floral Aquatic, with a touch of wood and spice....and a little tartness. Loosely in the vein of Clean Outdoor Shower Fresh ( although notes are not all that similar.) I'm surprised to not see Lilly in the notes..there's a sweet/creamy/salty/lush vibe that I always get from Lilly..it can sometimes choke me out in perfumes but whatever's giving me that impression in Malachite..it's balanced nicely.Doesn't last long on my skin...too bad because it's kinda cute.It's fresh,green and clean but not overly aquatic. The bottle is sweet yet sturdy and they went above and beyond with the wooden packaging.It just dawned on me that Malachite smells like Charmkins from my youth! The tiny, plastic-scented dolls that you could play with or wear as a charm in the early eighties.

My first Malachite bottle was from 2009, I got addicted to it. A creamy, fresh & clean but very different kind of fragrance. Nothing sharp or spicy, nothing citrus. I'ts elegant. I think the green mango is the unusual note, that makes it feel sintethic in a good way, like freshly washed clothes driyng in the wind. The wind brings some green notes from the garden plants, along with the scent of laundry products used in your clothes hanging outside. Got a bottle recently. Unfortunately I think they changed the formula a bit, as the green note is really standing out, making it more masculine, and only revealing it's creaminess after a good pair of hours. I am only apllying on my clothes, because this way it reveals it's beautiful creaminess earlier than when aplied on the skin, at least for me.

I really wanted to love this but I think my skin chemistry is hindering me from feeling so. It smells lovely on the bottle but when I sprayed it on me it started nice and fresh and then suddenly I got hit by a cat pee scent and gave me a light headache but despite that I kept it on me trying to wait for the beauty to somehow blossom. So I stop sniffing myself trying to avoid that dreaded cat pee smell but then hours later I couldn't smell anything anymore so then I got so disappointed although somehow I was still hopeful. Just when I was about to go to bed I smelled something lovely, soapy and clean and then realized "oh there you are". I just wish this works well with my chemistry then this would instantly be a love because I believe this is an intereting perfume with a unique name.

Intimate watery sweet green fairy delight. This one is for around the house or really warm days. Has same energy as some Lolita Lempicka creations. All that water nymph-like lightness with deft fusions of soft florals. This is unisex to me. More evocative of a mood. Sillage is respectfully low and longevity is 5-7 hours on me. Morphing into my chemistry as soft skin scent after that. This is more green and pink, rather than just green alone as the Malachite stone is. Pink and green Watermelon Tourmaline for crystal lovers.Will use this for meditative focus too. Soft heart energy. So soothing! I love it. Ethereal and comforting. Try a mini if in doubt as value is great currently and the packaging is a dream.
