Orris Vanille

This is a lovely fragrance and the name says it all. It's all about the powdery orris and creamy vanilla and all other notes are only there to support those two notes. The juniper and citruses are barely there to give the opening a soft subtle freshness. 20 minutes later as they fade it becomes slightly smoky. Again, very subtle. The iris is powdery, clean and classy. The vanilla is very smooth and creamy and at a medium sweetness level. Like the citrus and smoky nuance, there is a touch of spice... but again, only a hint. Performance is pretty typical for a Banana Republic. Projection (slightly less than arms length) lasts for 60-90 minutes, longevity is 5-6 hours. I find this fragrance unisex. It's a fall/winter scent but it's not too heavy. I think you could wear this comfortably in the Spring. The clean iris makes it perfect for daytime, while the vanilla makes it a bit more cozy and could garner positive attention in the evening. It's a soft and classy enough scent to make it safe for the office. Or a nice intimate scent for a datenight. This is not for anyone looking for something loud or beastmode. It's for those who like smooth, cozy more intimate scents, this is for you. Orris Vanille by Banana Republic is a remarkably well-blended extrait that punches well above its price point. It opens with a peppery warmth lifted by a shimmer of citrus zest, before unfolding into a delicate yet assertive floral heart that is beautifully softened by orris, giving the composition an elegant, classy character. What makes it so compelling is the way contrast is handled: warm pepper, cool florals, and orris root are woven together in a seamless, almost wave-like pattern that feels both distinct and fluid. The woods are bright and supple rather than dry or musty, carrying a maturity that feels confident without ever becoming stern. Vanilla is rendered with admirable intelligence, showing its often-overlooked spicy facet while smoothing the composition in a velvet-like way. Amberwood and vanilla build a deeper golden base that hints at amber, yet keeps the whole effect light, playful, and refined. Projection remains close to the skin, but the scent is rich, intense, and fully present within its own elegant orbit.

This is very nice. The main notes I get are orris vanilla then maybe sandalwood I hardly get any citrus or incense It is very lovely to have this for cooler weather. I saw another girl say she would wear this to yoga. Yes it would be the perfect fragrance for work or intimate settings where you don’t want to overly project a scent onto anyone but still smell good if someone got close to you. It is somewhat generic and crowd pleasing and that is a positive here. Very nice and unisex fragrance, slightly feminine leaning in my opinion . Not redundant in my collection. I was intrigued by the notes of this perfume, as I adore orris. I’ve been wearing it for the last two days to assess it. The opening is fresh, a mix of greens—what I think is juniper combined with apple blossom—which reminds me of the smell of young willow twigs from my childhood. It lasts for the first half-hour or so before slowly settling into a nice buttery orris/vanilla. The dry down is a very pleasant, close-to-skin fragrance, perfect for the office. Its longevity is similar to Van Cleef’s Bois d’Iris. I plan to use it for yoga practice, as it’s very calming.

This feels like a pretty fitting fragrance for a dull and cloudy Monday where you want a bit of comfort and something a little gentle on the senses. Mildly creamy from the vanilla and a little powdery from the orris. Perhaps a little sweeter than I’d ordinarily go for, but it’s not cloying or invasive. Dry down develops a a gentle smoky spice from the incense. Silage is good. Maybe 4-6 hours. It might not be a substitute EP Divine Vanille , but it’s done a pretty solid job for a taxing Monday at work

I was in one of those discount perfume shops today and the SA suggested this as a alternative for Hanai Mori, which I’ve never actually smelled but wanted to. First impression was this smells like a lighter version of Good Girl.

If you are incredibly patient these fragrances end up at discount rack stores like Burlington for pretty cheap. It may take a year or two but I find them to be wonderful buys for the rack store price.

The already existing hater has smelled the feagrance already or is just naturally born hater? 😀
