Peony & Peppercorn

So when I first sprayed this on I thought "Hair Care Products for women" Shampoo, Conditioner etc.. But after letting it mature for a couple of weeks and trying it, It's really a bit more Nuanced than that. Its absoulutely more faminine leaning, but its still got that fresh cleanliness that allows for us fellas to use it "in moderation", what I mean is, if sprayed too heavily, yes, It definately comes off smelling like "young ladies body mist/spray", but In moderation, after a shower, eg.. this is quite pleasant, clean and a bit more "unisex". I also feel that the performance isn't as terrible as some folks here on fragrantica make it out to be. I get between 5 to 6 hours with moderate projection, where I constantly get whiffs of it. Also, this stuff really stays on clothes much longer. If I apply Peony and Peppercorn to my shirt before bed, I can still noticeably pick it up on me the following morning when I've woken up. I'd argue that out of few I do own in the BR Icon line, while still NOT "beast-mode" or anything, and although its probably my least favorite, Peony and Peppercorn has better performance than the other ones I own from this line with Gardenia & Cardamom coming in second.. Again, this is great after a shower, as a bed time scent and for just lounging around. This is FAR from my favorite from this line with 78 Vintage Green being my fave, and then Gardenia and Cardamom being a very close second. The quality of "the juice" is really amazing with the Banana Republic Icon Line, but yes, It really would be GREAT if some of these fragrances had better performance, but with the quality and beauty of these fragrances, I dont mind re-applying. I give Peony and Peppercorn a 6 outta 10 as its not really my style, yet NOT completely un-doable for me. Very nice Fragrance! Thank you to whomever took the time to read my review.😉

Oh, my God, I haven't left a review in what feels like forever, but I just have to after smelling this! I've been searching for a peony soliflore for almost a year now. I just wanted a perfume reminiscent of the peonies in my grandma's garden: soft, powdery and pink. And boy, I've tried so many perfumes! Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming from Dior smelled like sweet generic roses and nothing more on my skin. Vert Pivoine from Histoires de Parfums smelled sour, the red fruits and ivy strangling the peonies in the composition. Peony & Blush Suede from Jo Malone was nice enough, but still nowhere close to the true peonies of my childhood. I came across Peony & Peppercorn from Banana Republic completely by accident. The reviews seemed promising enough, so I risked it and blind-bought it. My expectations weren't really high though, since I had been burned in the past. And then the bottle came and I finally got to spray it for the first time. The first ten seconds I got overwhelmed by the alcohol, but then... Oh, my, the alcohol disappeared and it was everything I wanted! The scent is exactly what I have been searching for: a peony so pink, so pure, so powdery, that I cannot help but sniff my wrist every few minutes! It smells so much like the real thing, it's unreal. I can't feel the peppery notes or the plum - just the peony, undisturbed, unstrangled by any accompanying notes. Peony & Peppercorn might not be a beast in terms of sillage of longevity, but I really don't mind that: peonies are delicate flowers, I would expect the same from a perfume evoking their demure beauty. Oh, and the price? You really cannot beat that. If you're a peony lover, chances are you'll really enjoy Peony & Peppercorn.

I’m with morenoetrata. This fragrance lasts a very long time on me. Not like beast mode vanilla that can last all day and all night and through the next shower. But if I spray it in the morning, I still smell it after work. It isn’t beast mode projection, but I prefer to only be smelled within 3 feet or arms length. This is very much a peony-rose, but it lacks sweetness and has a very fresh feeling to it because of that. Perfect for a hot day when you’re in the mood for a floral, but want to smell fresh and have it last all day. I love a good citrus freshy too, but the nature of citrus oils, citrus cannot last. I’m female and it feels feminine and beautiful on me, but I think it would smell great on anyone, so definitely unisex if you like rose peony. P.S. it is not spicy, not even as spicy as delina la rose, so great if you like those scents but wanted something without the spice, or even to layer to knock the spice down and fresh floral up.

I am SUUUUPER CONFUSED as to why people are saying this scent doesn't last?! Like Im hand- to heart, honestly getting decent longevity and YES, the sillage is moderate to intimate but totally noticable creating a small scent-bubble that last around 5 to 6 hours . Also, when I'd first gotten my bottle, it smelled like cheap a$$, " kiddie" floral body mist or something, buuuut now that it matured a bit the semi-sweet Pink Peppercorn has become more prominent and this scent is now quie beautiful. Its a VERY fresh, clean, breezy floral along with the now noticable Peppercorn, BEAUTIFUL! Idk if just I got a good bottle or something?? Idk, but as a guy, although this does lean quite feminine, its so fresh and clean that I (now) enjoy wearing it to bed or just around the house after a shower. Point is give this a chance and let it mature a couple months😉

This is nice. At first it smells like a blast of peppercorns, then it turns into a softer peony and rose scent. First spray reminded me of Emporio Armani Diamond Rose which is heavy with peppercorns and just more dry but as BR Peony and Peppercorn starts to dry down it turns into a fresh cut rose/peony combo almost reminiscent of MFK A La Rose perfume but not as strong. It is a nice soft scent. I can see a man wearing it on a nice summer day. I got it inexpensively and I like it. Great buy. Doesn't last long on me but scents like these usually do not last long on my dry skin anyway. Unless it has vanilla and tobacco, not much lasts on me.

Another winner from the house of Banana Republic, they really put out great fragrances, better than say Zara in my opinion. This one is so pretty with the peony being the main focus and the spice of the pepper bringing out it's beauty. The longevity is is moderate to good and the sillage is a little more than intimate, a great choice for the office, or a lunch with your girls.

Found this for $20-odd at Marshall’s. It is a beautiful musky-floral scent with a little bit of kick from the peppercorn. On my skin, it wears slightly sweet in a Spring bouquet sort of way. I especially like the blend of peony and rose. This definitely smells “pink.” It’s soft, feminine, and demure. I absolutely love it.

Smells really good and just like Versace Bright Crystal. This doesn't last that long maybe 2 hrs max then you'll need to reapply. Good bang for the buck tho. If you like bright crystal and can't afford or didn't want to spend the versace price for it this would be a great alternative almost ideal.

Imagine Jennifer Lopez’s Still, but sweeter and more floral. You still get the tartness up front from the bergamot but it’s not fierce, so it shouldn’t be much of a problem unless you hate citrus in general. This is a great all-around choice for sunny, warmer weather.

I love this perfume! It is very soft, mild, dainty and feminine smelling. It is a mix of the floral notes in such a beautiful and easy going way. This is perfect for Spring and Summer days. A very breezy and pleasant perfume.

Just took a shower and off to bed but before, I spayed myself and my sheets with this beauty. It smells clean & fresh it makes me feel so relax.Going to get me a back up bottle.Love it And it last

I wanted a smell like the elvive hair gloss scent and this is it, floral with a warm base and citrus opening. Feminine and inoffensive. Not dissimilar to good girl blush.

Inexpensive, pleasant, inexpensive, fresh, inexpensive, pretty, inexpensive, inoffensive. My honest review of peony and peppercorn is irrevocably marred by the low low low price I paid for it (something like $15?) I never reach for this and was considering getting rid of it, so I took it for a spin, and it's nothing to shake a stick at. It's fairly generic, I can't imagine it being anybody's signature scent, but there's very little wrong with it. The most serious piece of criticism I can offer is that it doesn't last forever.

I like this one and love the bottle, but it definitely is a pretty basic crowd pleasing scent. It’s a bit sharp on top and settles into green and fresh peony/rose combo with a fluffy white musk base. I agree the peppercorn is subtle. It sits close to the skin on me, so it would be good if you work in close quarters. The longevity is about six hours but is pretty light. It’s pretty, but I also think I have a few others in my collection that smell incredibly similar.

I get reminded of Dahlia&Vines scent from Nest and Bright Crystal by Versace, I would say 90% their DNA. I was hoping I will smell Gucci II though it was not that close for me. But who am I to complain, the scent is very “tender”, safe and subtle. If I had the above-mentioned perfumes I would pass though. Peony and Peppercorn will be on the list of successful blind buys as it gets a solid like from me.

I love unisex rose colognes. Opens very harsh, but settles into a clean soapy rose. As with other BR unisex, the musk tends to lean more feminine. Top notes fad quickly. 5 sprays. I get 3-4 hours with a few feet projection. Atomic Rose by Initio is a more interesting (and expensive) scents. For $20 at the clearance store...easy buy if you like roses.

Unisex but very feminine leaning. Initially sharp but it develops into a clean, sophisticated, soapy rose. Softly spiced with sparlky peonies and sliglthly fruity because of the plum. Not super unique but a great scent nevertheless. I love to spray myself with it after a shower for that "clean girl vibe". I layer it with all of my OUAI products.

This is a very sensual, fresh and ethereal perfume perfect for spring and summer! It’s uplifting and sparkly and leans very feminine in my opinion. To me it mostly smells like peonies, musk and pepper. But I do get some rose and plum in the dry down. Very well blended perfume from top to base and has good longevity too. 10/10 ⭐️

Got a free sample of this and instantly loved it at first whiff. The dry-down falls a little flat though. I don't pick up the rose scent much, it's more the peony standing out, with just a bit of pink peppercorn. Floral-musk with a powderiness to it. Reminds me of Lancome Miracle (which I like a lot better).

This fragrance is the embodiment of sitting in a field of flowers. It bleeds down from the top. Spicy citrus opens into a vivid, candid floral symphony—an androgynous, spicy standout. Another hit from Banana Republic.

First sniff: This is so soft and delicate, slightly sweet and clean, fresh and floral. Definitely “clean girl” type of perfume. Personally I don’t really enjoy pink pepper and rose, but here I can’t really tell, that’s why I love it. Most of my perfumes are sweet, needed a change, can’t wear anything sweet for everyday, this perfume is just what I need. Packaging is gorgeous, feels luxurious, bottle simple and minimalist. Love the soft baby pink color of the box and bottle. Lasts a great amount of hours Today I applied around noon and by 9 I still can smell it.

Love, love love! Gentle, feminine and sweet (as in floral, not sugary!). If those are your tastes this is a safe blind buy. I am happy that I found a big bottle on ebay for about $20. No idea why this is classified as unisex, this is a lovely classically feminine scent. I don't smell much besides peony but that's what I wanted. Edit: it’s too sweet, I never reached for it and wound up putting it for sale on eBay.

light rose scent. I just dont care too much for it. doesn't project much and lasts about 3 hours on my skin. if you can find it for cheap id say its worth a shot

It's alright. The pink pepper honestly makes the scent a meh for me since it's more noticeable in the fragrance compared to Versace's Bright Crystal.

Not sure if I get more of peony or rose, but it totally feels like too much of flowers, to the point it gets choky.

This is so inoffensive. Smells like clean hair after it dries. Weak sillage and longevity especially when compared to other scents in the Icon Collection like Gardenia & Cardamom or Tobacco & Tonka. I was excited for the Pepper scent advertised in the name of the fragrance, and I was very disappointed. Almost zero Pepper. I can't smell anything other than Peony and that metallic-sweet-synthetic note that too many mainstream fragrances have, and like in all of those fragrances, the metallic-sweet-synthetic note get stronger the longer you wear Peony & Peppercorn. I wonder if the smell comes from Ethlhyxyl Methoxycinnamate or the Coumarin? Which seems to be missing in the notes. Smells like a 12 year old girl with social anxiety.

I wanted to like this, because I'm a fan of florals but this one fell flat. It lacks character and smells more like a lotion than a perfume. I don't like the cashmere note in this, but if that note doesn't bother you, this is a simple everyday daytime fragrance with the longevity being on the weaker side. If you're not looking for something that stands out, but rather blends in (there's nothing wrong with that everyone has different taste), then you may enjoy this. Personally, I would've liked some more musk or woody notes in this without that cashmere note. Also, this perfume is completely feminine, nothing in this seems unisex to me.

This has one of those molecules in it that immediately makes me anosmic. From what I can smell it's very pleasant but nothing ground breaking. Certainly worth the price if you can find it discounted.

(This review is for Banana Republic's New Perfume - labeled "Mauritiam Pink Pepper"... not the Peoni Pink Peppercorn) I've been sampling this perfume each time I've walked past this store for awhile -- I really love the fresh, upbeat smell of this. This is a refreshing simple spring/summer type perfume that just feels optimistic. There is something in this formula that has a little bit of that Tinker Bell quality to it... a dose of magic. I really like this one, this is pretty - and wears light. It is not a silage monster nor wears for hours. This lasts a couple of hours and would need a refresh periodically throughout the day. I really enjoy the airiness quality of this. It is really pretty and playful. It is good with my chemistry and I like the upbeat and this adds a lively spring to my step! This would harmonize well with exercise and running errands - a trip to the gym, beach, or lunch/brunch. This is fun - and who doesn't need a bit more fun in their lives? I never thought peppercorn was a note that I liked, but after trying this - it definitely is a great note in fragrances! Try this, see what you think! I really like this - and it may actually be a new love!

I happen to love this one. Lately I've been getting into floral/green fragrances, with emphasis on the floral, and I've wanted a well rendered peony for a while. It's one of the most common floral notes in mainstream perfumery for good reason: when done well, it's gorgeous. This one is done very well. It reminds me a little of Creed Spring Flower's peony, which is but one of several flowers in that fragrance, but there the peony offers a delicate green sweetness, like you can feel the petals brushing softly against your nose. Same sort of thing happens in Peony & Peppercorn, albeit in a soliflore style. Oddly I don't really get any of the peppercorns, although there seems to be a vague attempt at them in the first minute, sort of an unrealized top note. No matter though, as what I can smell, namely the peony, is gorgeous.

Gucci II was my ultimate favorite perfume in the world. I am a fragrance collector and have over 100 fragrances, but nothing comes close to Gucci II. To me! this is in the same scent family not a dupe but Similar. Nothing Ive smelled comes as close to beloved Gucci II as this. If you are looking for something close to it. Projection and performance is same as Hugo boss fragrances. I found at local Marshall’s for $20 if you can find it for a good price it’s a decent one to try out! Very womanly/elegant woman. Not to mature smelling though. Girly floral with elegance and sophistication. Great every occasion all year any occasion scent. Glad I tried it out. Most Successful blind buy for me.

Harsh, headache-inducing opening that dries down to a soapy rose that is unoriginal and uninspiring. Was hoping for more of a peony, as opposed to rose, scent. It is clean with a subdued performance and hence I do reach for it occasionally as a summer fragrance for the office. 6/10. Would not repurchase.

Far less screechy than Bright Crystal. It's a standard soft clean floral. Perfect choice for situations where you need something inoffensive. Really just smells like a nice hand lotion. Projection is average and longevity leaves much to be desired.

This is a fragrance for the perfume haters. Suitable if you want to smell clean, something like herbal essence fleeting body wash. Whoever said this was a Delina dupe needs to get pinched in the butt, they must have nose problems.

Peppercorn scared me at first but it gives this well made rose fragrance that gorgeous hmph that it needs! Clean and floral, perfect for spring. Not the most unique fragrance but definitely high quality!

Honestly smells so similar to Gucci II. Very unique and refreshing scent but its longevity is severely lacking. Still great for the price

I was really curious about this one, coz i love rose base fragrances, however i do think this is more feminine than unisex!

Basic, generic, safe, crowd pleasing floral. I used it a bit to layer but didn’t love it so I sold it.
