Rosewood

Like others I blind-bought this; and like others I find this to be a nice fuzzy fragrance (I came here and was pleased to find others have used the precise adjective I had in mind). FUZZY!! It's warm, warm, WARM. This isn't actually a heavy fragrance in my estimation, but it is quite soft and comforting, it's warming without being intense or rich (I like rich, but sometimes I want light). It's for short, wintery days; what one could wear perfectly to a professional gathering...but not *too* professional. It's playful with it's lack of balance, and is somehow cozy, unrefined, unbalanced, but still thoughtful. It doesn't smother, but it projects a little. It get something crisp, yet indistinct in the opening...never the alleged lime. After a few times with this, I finally understand the tea note...but it's still more white tea rather than green. All in all, it suffices to say this is predominantly an amber scent. I wear this when I'm around people who dislike loud things, as it tends to create a cloud of ambery warmth. It hums, but doesn't holler. It feels like the oxytocin, snuggles, and serotonin. It makes a good bedtime fragrance as well, and eases the mind when I suffer from insomnia. *update* I can't emphasize ENOUGH how great of a daily driver this is...especially for the price. My husband loves if and I've actually grown to love this whilst it was previously only on the "like" shelf. It has longevity and does well in every type of weather I've subjected it to. I spray it on headbands and it has the ideal performance without being noxious to anyone sensitive. A gentlewoman, and a warm hug of a fragrance...and as a mom, it's my ultimate "scent for others in mind" go-to. I certainly wear some other beastly things, but I need something like this too and I'm so grateful for Rosewood.

Brazilian Rosewood. I must admit the notes here have me perplexed. I might be the only one, but I get a Brazilian Rosewood from this scent: dusty rose, soapy woods, powdery sweetness. The dusty rose colour of the juice and the name accurately represent the scent imho. Admittedly my bottle is from somewhere between 2006-08, but it still smells the same to me today as when I got it. The Brazilian Rosewood accord has reminders for me of other scents with Brazilian Rosewood: Organza Indecence Givenchy, Presence d'une Femme Montblanc & Midnight Fleur Nest. Has above average performance for year round wear. Contrast to Organza Indecence Givenchy: These are different, and Organza Indecence has much more forward cinnamon & vanilla notes, but their are similarities with the Brazilian Rosewood note. Organza Indecence outperforms. Contrast to Midnight Fleur Nest: These are different, but this scent is probably the closest scent to Rosewood imho. Rosewood is sweeter however, and a little softer. Rosewood outperforms. Overall: gorgeous dusty rosewood scent with above average performance. It's a longtime love for me with nostalgic memories: Enjoy!

What this is not: A citrus tea freshie A sophisticated complex perfume from the past with 36 notes. Something bitter and snobbish that only someone like a sommelier would love and average people pretend to like because an expert says that it is tasteful or elegant or whatever. This is a simple amber perfume with powder, dusty pink rose and maybe a smidge of white musk. It's warm and cozy and I would put Rosewood in the same family of fragrances as Burberry Woman and not any tea fragrance. I don't get any tea or bergamot at all. It's like a mixture of Kuumba Made Amber Paste with Demeter Baby Powder and Skin Musk. A little rose essential oil for good measure. This performed well on me in the winter, maybe 6-8 hours then a skin scent of white chocolate? Like another reviewer said about getting white chocolate from this. A little waxy, maybe not high quality white chocolate - the kind you buy in blocks at a grocery store during Christmas season to make peppermint candy bark with demolished candy canes. I like it a lot and bought a second bottle. Update: I'm able to smell the rosewood note now and it makes me like this even more.

I'll agree that this one is reminiscent of Ellen Tracy's Bronze, but in my case, that is a happy thing. I loved the smell of Bronze, but was unable to pull it off because of the tartness of the lemonade accord. I do envy those who can make tart citruses work. Rosewood allows me to enjoy what I do love about Bronze... the soft, warm, powdery pastry-like feel, with just enough citric quality to kind of "wake it up" from the bergamot. Rosewood feels to me like it has much more going on than just amber, tea, and bergamot... I swear I detect orchid. The tea note is there, and it almost does what the violet leaf note does for Bronze, but what is that giving Rosewood the powdery pastry effect? Amber? Really... just amber? Hmmm... not convinced. Overall, Rosewood gives a peaceful, comforting, softly "clean" impression that is a joy to have around. It's definitely more suited to office or casual wear- you're not likely to seduce a hot stranger in a crowded nightclub with this one. Rosewood is all about quiet, friendly glances over a hot cup of tea.

This is just gorgeous. Regretfully, I did not find the one in the coveted wooden box (!), but, I did find this amazing fragrance. I have found myself drawn to sweeter perfumes, so long as they don't remind me of food, and this fits the bill so well. I am happily surprised at the brief list noted above (Although, I did read another description listing champagne as a note also), as this fragrance is decidedly more than a three-note pony. I think this is tea, amber, and bergamot used with a hand that is masterful. My top ten of frags change, but so often it is because my favorite scents stop being made for whatever reason. This is in my current top ten and will only leave when the last drop has left me. Light, sweet, very present sweet tea and your "honey" in this tea is amber. Beautiful, sexy, Spring and Summer frag. Sillage: 6/10 Long: 7/10 Juice: 8.5/10 Bottle: 7/10 (No wood housing-cardboard pink and white flowered box). Repurchase: Yes

I picked this fragrance up at Burlington the other day 3.4 oz for $16.99. What a deal! This perfume is amazingly beautiful! I am always fascinated with fragrances where there are only 3 notes listed yet they smell much more complex even totally different than the notes would suggest. Rosewood is one such fragrance to my nose. I get a very sweet, warm amber, somewhat mentholated by the bergamot which is a totally different expression of bergamot than I have ever smelled before. Usually bergamot is quite a citrusy note to me but not here, perhaps it's being tempered a bit by the tea note? The tea note here is not black tea but green tea and it is always lingering in the background the star of this fragrance is the rich, sweet, amber note! Lasts about 4 hours becomes a skin scent on me in about 2 hours and appropriate for any weather or occasion. This fragrance is my first exposure to Banana Republic fragrances and a total win blind buy!

I used to have Rosewood and the cap was broken. It had been originally given to me in a swap this way, and unfortunately it became a "dab on" scent because the sprayer didn't work. It became very difficult for me to apply it and kept leaking every time I tilted the bottle, so I got rid of it because I couldn't figure out a way to decant the liquid into another container. Now here we are in the middle of Winter and I am sooo craving for this scent for its ability to literally keep you feeling "warm". There is nothing else I have ever smelled that comes close to this scent for this reason. It's characteristics are being woody, deep, rich, smoky vanilla spice and amber. It opens up powdery from the bergamot, spicy from the tea and amber which envelops me in a cloud of warmth. It is perfect to keep you warm on dark, cold days. Ebay has some amazing prices on this. It is a shame it got discontinued!

Exquisite, classy and immensely comforting - I am in love with this fragrance ever since I blind-bought it online. I smell absolutely no bergamot and lots of vanilla in it, though not listed in notes. There's a lingering trail of white floral notes too, again not listed, and I'm sure my nose isn't just playing tricks on me ;) The vanilla notes are never my favorite, but I love the woodsy-vanilla-amber base notes with the tea notes tingling occasionally. Such sophistication - seems more expensive than it actually is! This definitely is one of those fragrances with few but carefully thought-out notes that do not go wrong at all. Lasts on my skin for 7-8 hours and even then I can get an occasional whiff and creates an arm-length sillage around me with just two spritzes. Oh, and the wood box packaging is so classy! Pity it has been discontinued.

Oh my goodness. This stuff is wonderful. Not really difficult to describe. Amber-vanilla-woodsy. Just awesome. One of the reviewers here described it as "honest" and I have to agree. It has a very unpretentious feel to it. It brings to mind someone sweet, intellegent and hopeful, but also innocent. -This is unisex. Men can rock it. -Not usually one to rave over packaging (I'm more concerned with what's actually in the bottle) but the box is the sh!t. It's large, dark reddish wood and closes magnetically. Like, seriously, you can totally reuse it for other purposes. So freaking classy and so Banana (those who shop there regularly will know what I mean). -Versatile fragrance. Works for day or night. And although I'd say this is best for winter and fall, it's light enough IMO to pull off in summer. -This screams "signature scent".

This is quite the fragrance for such an simple composition. Upon first spray, i do get amber, tea and a woody accord, though it's not listed. I can't detect any bergamot. It's a tad bit sharp in the opening but not in a unpleasant way. This performance is out of this world! This fragrance definitely can fill room when you step in and last 8+ hours on my skin. It performs even better in cooloer weather. Though this is marketed for women, this is a very unisex fragarnce. If anything, it's a bit more masculine than feminine. The packaging is very unique. Besides the price, nothing about this fragrance comes off as cheap. I got my mom hooked to this fragrance after she smelled it on me and she's extremely picky about fragrances. I highly recommend that people give Rosewood a try. Scent: 10/10 Packaging: 8/10 Performance: 10/10

This is absolutely one of my favorite scents! I think it is a seasonal perfume - perfect for autumn and winter. Rosewood is a very warm, slightly dark, slightly spicy oriental scent. The notes are described as 'green' and 'fresh spicy' and while I don't argue these notes, they are green and spicy in a warm, animalic way rather then in a spring or aquatic way. On second thought, I wouldn't really consider this a 'green' scent. The amber is very prominent throughout the scent profile and it smells a bit powdery to me. I personally love the old-school beast-mode floral and spicy orientals of the 1980s and Rosewood is not that - it is a more modern, updated warm, amber, spicy oriental scent. I would not recommend this as a safe blind buy unless you really enjoy the notes. It is a lovely, lovely scent.

This is the second review I've written for Rosewood. Lately I've been going through my earlier reviews and compared them to what the perfume smells like now. Over time my perception has changed, and it's only fair to note that change since it affects my appreciation of the fragrance. So, in the case of RW there's a deeper note I didn't catch before. It almost resembles dark chocolate, which does not appear on the pyramid. Still no amber or tea as far as I can tell. There seems to be a bit of musk, although not enough to make the fragrance fuzzy. The drydown of RW is where the transformation happens, the notes deepen into something almost gourmand. Even more weird: I like it. There's something very appealing in that warm, dark chocolate note. I'd planned on selling RW, but now I may just keep it.

No roses and no wood, but still a very lovely unisex fragrance in my book. It is a fairly linear amber with just a hint of citrus to keep it from being overbearing, but it is an amber that leans slightly powdery. I haven't really tried layering this yet, but I think it could be quite good for that purpose as well. This is an easy "out the door" kind of fragrance that will keep you smelling good throughout the day. It isn't challenging or complex, but sometimes that's exactly what I want. The longevity and sillage are pretty good too, especially considering the price point. This is a great bargain that can be worn in any season, but definitely fall and winter will see this one show up in my timeline more. There's something quite cozy about this one, and that makes it a total winner in my book.

Pascal Gaurin of IFF is one of my favorite perfumers, based largely on BR’s Rosewood, CK2, and his Karl Lagerfeld for H&M scent (which unfortunately resells for much higher price points than Lagerfeld’s luxe bottlings). Gaurin is a master of creating fragrances that are unique and interesting, while remaining accessible to many and friendly in mundane workspaces. I love a challenging perfume! But not every day is one where I can wear a challenging scent. Rosewood is among my staples when I want something comfortable but also pretty in an engaging way. This is a rosy, citrusy black tea when it’s steeped too long and releases the tannins. There’s grounding musk and some uplifting cozy fuzziness. It’s informal, but not too casual.

I really enjoyed this scent, but every time I wore it something bothered me. I knew I had smelled this scent before somewhere. I couldn't put my finger on it for the longest time, but one day I was going through my perfumes to choose a smell I have not worn in awhile, when I reached for Curve Crush by Liz Claiborne. As soon as I spritzed it on that's when it hit me! This smells almost identical to Curve Crush. I hate that! It bothers me when a perfume basically rips off someone elses scent. I don't know which of these came out first, but I have seemed to of lost interest in wearing either one now. Too bad. I guess it's just one of my quirks.

Rosewood opens with vanilla and a light fruity note. I don't get tea or citrus. This fragrance has little resemblance to Classic, another Banana Republic scent I have. There's nothing sugary in Rosewood, although there's a sweet fruit note. It's a feminine scent, light and soft, very wearable for all ages. Like Classic, Rosewood dries down quickly and melts into the skin. This isn't the kind of perfume that beats the wearer and bystanders into submission, Rosewood whispers where other frags shout. There are other similarities between Rosewood and Classic: both are inexpensive but neither smells cheap or harsh. Good job, Banana Republic!

This is such an awesome affordable sleeper right here. What you're getting is basically a poor man's Chinatown by Bond No. 9. To be sure it is no where remotely near as sophisticated as Chinatown. But it's in that same family of "sexy nerd" (or "sexy librarian"). It's slightly sweet enough to convey a touch of sensuality but this girl keeps her legs together thanks to a pronounced bitterness. My only complaint about Rosewood is it's a wiiiddle too synthetic. But for such a dirt cheap price for a full bottle (not to mention the extra fly wooden magnetic casing it comes with, which is a treasure in and of itself) it's well worth it.

I finally had a chance to try Rosewood thanks to litldove7 for swapping with me! Rosewood is very similar to the scent of the FlowerBomb lotion I have(I don't have the perfume unfortunately). I love the powdery smell of Rosewood. It reminds me of some scented lipstick I have or like talcum powder but not the grandmother kind. To me its like the powdery notes in Hanae Mori and Casmir. Hard to explain! It might be from the woodsy notes. I love the creamy sweetness the vanilla adds from beginning to end along with fresh white tea leaves and white amber. The lasting power is great. I just need a huge bottle of this!

If you like Bond no.9 "So New York", you will enjoy this, for fraction of the price while somewhat lighter and more wearable (here's less of bond's winter vibe and minus cocoa). I love "So NY" too, but should I have known about the similarity, I wouldn't have spent on Bond, but get Rosewood instead. 80% similarity in the vibes I'm after. Shea from The Body Shop makes the other 20% by only adding creamy coziness to it. Edit: Same musks you will find in Banana Republic Malachite and Afnan 9 pm. In case if you are looking for something more masculine - the latter is in the drydown.

This has been one of my favorite affordable daytime fragrances for over a decade. Interestingly, it doesn't feature any rosewood note. It's a soft, easy to wear amber fragrance suitable for most settings. Unfortunately, like all BR fragrances, the longevity is terrible. BR, you need to work on this! It's to the point that I no longer purchase new BR scents, regardless of how much I fancy them, because they wear off far too quickly. Try to find this at a discount because it's not worth full retail price for a fragrance that wears as long as body spray.

This was the first perfume I bought with my allowance in 2009, just the 15mL gift size. It felt so extravagant and elegant as a young lady. As a grown woman I realized it's actually very inexpensive, and finally made my younger self happy and bought a bottle. It hasn't changed at all. It's so comforting and womanly. I agree with another review that this has some iris, rose, almond and musk. Much more is happening than the three listed notes. It's beautifully blended, and I'm happy to have it again.

This is BEAUTIFUL. As others have noted, it's like a warm, cozy, soft sweater. The real magic begins in the dry down. They've managed to capture both warmth and a cleanness and in such a brilliant way. I love this combo when executed well and this nails it. I also pick up glimpses of some sort of mysterious spice and I really love that. The blend of this composition is so well done. This is a scent I will likely purchase a backup or two of as I never want to be without it in my collection.

I don’t know why but this on me in cold weather, smells very candy like, banana candy like. My boyfriend hates it, he never cares what fragrance I wear as long as it’s not this, so apparently he’s smelling something very different than the candy I’m smelling. It does have a slight spicyness that bubblegum has, but an undertone of powder which could be what the turn off is for others. I can’t get enough of it! I love the spicy candy bubblegum smell of this!

This is the only perfume I have worn for years since my other favourite perfume (Alexander Julian Womenswear) was discontinued in 1996. I just love it. On me the notes don't change from first spray - amber and fresh spicy. Only recently have I started experimenting with other fragrances (due to Perfumetok!) but this is my go-to. I wear it all the time, all year. It's been discontinued in stores but I'm still able to get it on some internet shops.

This was a blind buy after reading the reviews and notes on this page. This is very comforting, and smells very well made. The amber is most prominent, and its warm, sweet, and very cuddly. It smells like your favorite cashmere sweater in the winter, as you're sitting near a warm fire with a cup of your favorite cocoa. The tea is soothing, the lime is very fleeting. Overall, well-balanced and performs excellently. Highly recommend.

This not my usual fragrance at all but I have to say I love it. I blind bought it at TJ Maxx on clearance for $14.99 and that was one great deal. I wasn't sure when I first sprayed but it is kind of powdery and kind of sharp but it just dries down into something warm and cuddly. The amber I think is what gives it that warm, enveloping quality. I actually can't stop smelling it, something about this is just addictive!

I'm 23 and have been using this perfume since I was 19--it's an excellent Oriental for younger women due to the softness of the vanilla and sandalwood notes. With my chemistry it smells like a gently sweet amber, and I always get compliments on it--probably because most girls my age are swathed in predictable fruit/florals like Daisy or Coco Mademoiselle. Love this scent--especially for the price!

This is more powdery than I thought, but still remains true to its name- wrapping oneself in the aura of rosewood. After I get past the initial powdery blast, this fragrance transports me to the redwood forest; I see beautiful mossy greens and red trees and smell the rosewood. It is earthy, wet and should be a fall/spring fragrance. Romantic and intensely woody.

It's 48 degrees F outside right now and I tried this again for the first time in years. It used to smell too masculine for me but now in this temperature it smells like a perfume version of the banana aloe deodorant by hey humans but with an amber powder base. Once it warms to my skin it sweetens up just like the banana aloe deo. I actually like it now, a lot!

I wish that the notes were updated on Rosewood. In my opinion they should be Amber Iris Almond oil Powdery notes Rose Rosewood Musk Spices Tea and Bergamot because some reviews mention these notes but I can't smell them. Every time I wear this, I smell something different. It is much more complex than the listed notes suggest.

I have been searching for a beautiful tea scent. This is absolutely stunning. Blended so beautifully, it’s warm and clean, classic and stunning. This is beautiful and versatile and the price point is wild for the quality. Banana Republic frags are absolute gems, and on my safe blind buy list because they have all been 🔥

Maybe I’m easily impressed, but this $10 Mercari score is truly wonderful. I first sprayed this on paper and caught only this strange powdery note I didn’t like. I’m learning that fragrance should be tested on the skin whenever possible. BR Rosewood is rich and warm, and the amber base is intoxicating.

This is a wonderful scent! For me it`s the perfect mix of floral and powder-sweet notes. Never obtrusive but by no means prosy. The lasting power is very good. Every time I put it on I have the feeling that it almost becomes a part of me- if that isn`t a sign that I found my "soulmate-perfume".

I absolutely adore this scent! I swear this reminds me of Iris Prima by Penhaligon's (at least the bottle I have does), as I've read a couple people on here mentioning differences in batches. Highly recommend. I purchased mine at TJMaxx a few weeks ago - Aug 2020.

Another wounderful unisex scent Im enjoing this days its powdery floral & woody scent with an amazing rosey vanilla drydown , it also lasts all day with great sillage .Rosewood by Banana Republic is a definite winner most perfume lovers neglects this beauty.

I randomly picked this up at a garage sale today and it’s breathtaking! Think clean girl. Rose soap Amber tea. Idk how anyone couldn’t like it. It’s not offensive classy and uncomplicated. The notes blend nicely. Are we smelling the same perfume guys?! 🤣

Thanks to Sarah Myles and her Youtube review I blind bought this beauty. I smell rosewood. My Dad was a furniture builder and this combo of scent smells like his shop.I enjoy non mainstream fragrances and this is a welcomed addition.

Ambery + powdery. On the dry side. So soothing! I like to put it before bed. It’s warm & ultra cozy! It goes perfectly well with warm skin. There’s something very addictive about this fragrance. Can’t stop sniffing my inner elbow 🥺

Bought perfume Rosewood by Banana Republic only description of the fragrant pyramid and not mistaken! The aroma is incredible! Delicate rose scent of woody notes been added which give finesse and character! Soft and warm scent!

A wonderful, warm, cozy, ever-so-slightly sweet amber scent. It won't project across the room, but it's perfect for fall/winter sweater weather. It lasts longer on garments and is ideal for after shower/bath bedtime snuggling.

I feel like this is a cozy cardigan or wear to bed fragrance, sweet but not overly so. Better and more expensive smelling than the three notes listed would lead you to believe.

This smells like a mix of roses and wood. It is sweet and powdery. On me, this is eternal 12 hours+. This is a very calming and relaxing fragrance.

Gorgeous scent, very creamy almost oily. It smells vanilla-y which I think it's the combination of Amber and bergamot.
