Indigo

Indigo was one of the first niche perfumes that drew me into the world of artisanal perfumery, and it still holds a special place in my collection. There’s something quietly captivating about it. It feels like stepping into a sunlit, silent world high above the noise, like the brand story writes, “the most beautiful feeling is on an airplane when you rise above the clouds.” The scent is both calming and boldly radiant. The use of mastic oil is inspired. It lends a cool, almost otherworldly clarity, like crisp morning air at altitude. Balanced with the soft resinous warmth of frankincense, and grounded by cedarwood and sandalwood, Indigo feels both meditative and inspiriting. Hints of rose and hyacinth weave through with a light floral breeze, just enough to soften the edges. For me, it’s a perfume that creates space in my sometimes chaotic world —a pause, a breath, a moment of calm. Indigo is the fragrance I reach for when I want to feel composed yet connected to something beautiful. Ok for warmer days, but I prefer to wear it in cooler weather.

I like this one, it has the same DNA as Baruti Melkmeisje with added heavy rose notes. The olibanum and mastic are 2 other scents that I know due to my heritage, I really would have loved if they were more heavy here, this would make it more masculine imo. I cannot smell any oud, or cedar either. It has excellent longevity and high sillage too, impressive. I really like this one, but if I can amplify the mastic and olibanum here I would be alot happier. It is very classy and chic, I cannot see a teenager wearing this, not a tank top and shorts perfume. It is more on the feminine side too. Update: Actually on revisting this one, I can appreciate the sandalwood and cedar more, and the amzaing mastic and frankincense. Smells quite unique

Indigo smells exactly as it’s supposed to; like a summer night in the Mediterranean. It’s a smoky incense-oud composition (actually NOOUD, which contains no actual Oud wood), but it’s not too dry or harsh the way I often find this style of fragrance. It’s breathy, almost delicate, and the mastic gives it a cooling afterglow. Indigo is the rare scent that actually makes me feel sexy. It would be great for an evening out. It gets softer and more floral over time, in a tender, peach-blush-orange vein; at the end, only the rosy floral is left.

This is a hit. One of my favorites from the sample set. I think Chai takes the win. But, I wouldn't turn my nose up to this. I would and do bury my nose it in. Such a great representation of woody floral. Ok, if i squint and reach into my hard to find imagination, I can see the pickle reference. I think that is just power of suggestion. Never crossed my mind until I read it. Disregard that and try this. It is such a great pick during the scorching hot days we have had recently. Comes out beautifully blended.

This has been my summer signature fragrance for the entire two months. So happy to have discovered the brand. Bought a full bottle of Indigo and a box of samples from them. This particular one Indigo starts off with mastic (which I must say I had never smelled before) and at first I was like "ooh wow not sure about this" but then five minutes later it BLOSSOMED. Very modern and fresh, love it.

My lord, this is a gorgeous summer fragrance. Just so damn unique, nothing like anything I've ever smelled before in all the years that I've been a perfume fan. The saltiness and the freshness really make me think of being on a beach in Greece. The florals at the heart are so delicate and I LOVE the warm amber drydown. What an absolute bomb of a fragrance. 10/10

I loved Indigo from the first time I wore it. Mastic, hiacynth and olibanum together make a great combination. To me it smells very green and rich. I also detect some sandalwood in the background. I don't get the other notes. It is a parfum extract and a little goes a long way. This is a fragrance that lasts for 7-8 hours on me. Perfect for summer.

Zen in a bottle as a friend who introduced me to it correctly said. This is a truly magnificent fragrance that is fresh yet ambery, crisp yet not harsh. Wore this throughout summer. When you look at the notes, they all appear to be quite normal / not unusual notes (except for the mastic) but all together they produce a beautiful symphony.

It smells fantastic, unlike anything I have smelled before. It smells like pickles, nut oil, sweat, seaweed and a little bit of rose. My first reaction was that it's too weird, but then I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist again and again. You will definitely get noticed in it.

Another gorgeous perfume from Baruti. Maybe a bit discrete in terms of sillage...

You really have to love mastic to love this. Unfortunately I don't but thought this was worth a try. On the plus side I was pleased to be able to detect the hyacinth, which is very soft and powdery at the beginning. I got very little rose from this. Unfortunately for me, after a while it simply smells of smoke, rubber bands, paper and ink. I'd love to know which city this "city life" perfume is supposed to represent. I'm guessing it's somewhere that's failing its pollution targets. Edit: OK, OK, I'm going to eat some of my words above. I've tried this a few more times, and since the weather has cooled, Indigo behaves differently. Instead of overwhelmingly sharp inky accords, you also get a lot more of the floral notes, which makes Indigo much more pleasant to wear. I'll try it again on Guy Fawkes night just to get in the mood! Conclusion: I wouldn't consider wearing this unless on a clear, crisp, late autumn/winter day.

Another nice one from Baruti. I actually get quite a bit of woods up front and never goes away with the dry down, though they are tempered a bit by the florals. A great fall scent for me with typical Baruti longevity and good projection for the first several hours. I usually spray more of the back of my neck now when applying most fragrances and I think this really helps with this one. I don't get overwhelmed or anosmic to scents as much with that method, and also it just helps me get whiffs of my scents. The wood notes I get from this would be too much for me if I was just constantly smelling this for hours on end. Definitely a good, quality scent I've come to expect from Baruti.

Oh how I love baruti. They get it right - every time! Woody, spicy, intense, long lasting, sweet. I love this along with all the other ones in this line. There's a certain waxy balsamic scent that is present in all of them, maybe honey even, but it's all good as it adds to the sweetness intensity and unique scent. Rose with woods. First kick of garden rose then gets wider and flat with woods undertone. It's very natural and comforting. Like You would bring fresh roses in the morning and just cut them with knife before putting into the water. It's low on emotions and to make You comfortable not to make statement.

I’d call this a sister scent to Berlin Im Winter. That same cluster; mastic, frankincense, and oud; seems to take over here as well. The floral elements (especially rose) and sandalwood are clearly present, and in the drydown the rose even manages to become more persistent. And yet there’s something unsettling in the overall feel; whether it’s a heavy ambery base, or simply a lack of harmonic alignment, I can’t quite pinpoint. I’m sure it’s unique, but it absolutely doesn’t suit me. I normally love mastic, but both mastic scents from this house have been an epic fail for me. I had been looking for a good mastic rose, and unfortunately this is not it for me. I agree with rylai below that something feels unbalanced or misaligned. Scrubbed it off. My quest for a proper mastic rose continues...

I smell the above notes, but over a base of burnt plastic (like everything from this brand). Is this deliberate? I don't find it appealing at all, it just smells like a disaster in a plastics warehouse.

Opening is fine but drydown smells a bit like those trees that smell like.... Semen. Sorry.
