TINDRER by Baruti When We Were Dead "The moon is asleep." — Inscription on Mandy Moon’s gravestone, Highgate Cemetery Tindrer by Baruti is a perfume of delicate contrasts — light and shadow, spring and decay, sorrow and serenity. Inspired by a song and named after the Danish word for "sparkle," it conjures a world where ivy grows over stone and violets bloom in graveyard soil. The opening is vivid, atmospheric — a striking blend of green notes, galbanum and lemon verbena. Here, verdant sharpness meets deep earth. Imagine a spring picnic at a cemetery — heady, melancholic, and oddly alive. Violet announces itself early, veiled in damp lilac shadows. One is instantly transported to the overgrown tomb of Mandy Moon at Highgate Cemetery, where ivy climbs marble and the air hums with silence. As the scent develops, violet steps fully into the moonlight. It is not girlish or flirty — this violet is austere, noble, and steeped in nostalgia. A twilight flower, cloaked in moss and stone. Rain seems imminent — mineral notes hint at petrichor. There’s a strange hope in this stage: a stirring of new life amidst death, a breeze rustling the ivy as if the past might wake. The dry-down is where Tindrer weeps gently into your skin — heliotrope adds a narcotic softness, white musk cloaks like fog. It is mossy, powdery, and sombre. Violets linger like forgotten letters, or petals pressed between the pages of an old book. The final impression is one of black earth and wistful blooms. Spyros Drosopoulos has crafted something rare here: a perfume that smells like longing. A scent that shivers on the skin like a ghost caught mid-reverie. Tindrer is a perfume of emotional landscapes — a quiet Gothic dream laced with memory, decay, and the lightest touch of resurrection. It leans feminine but wears beautifully on all. The sillage is restrained yet present; the longevity, a faithful 5 to 8 hours. For €130, it is a poetic bargain.

Green, fresh, powdery; those were the first three words that came to mind, and I’m convinced they’re spot-on. It smells richly of grass, wrapped in a very polite, pleasant freshness. It’s calm and soothing, yet also genuinely uplifting. There’s a quiet melancholy to it, but at the same time it feels like it’s taking you by the hand and gently trying to lead you out of that melancholy. This one evokes a distinctly forest-like atmosphere for me. You’re among trees after rainfall; not a textbook petrichor, but there is that pairing of damp, humid earth with wet grass. Nature has been soaked. Cool breezes still brush under your tree. You close your eyes: wet greens, a touch of soft moss, and airy, tender fresh florals. And somewhere very far away, a salty wind drifting in from the sea. Everything feels in harmony. Tag(s): green, fresh, powdery, forest-like, post-rain atmosphere, damp earth, wet grass, soft moss, calm, soothing, melancholic-yet-uplifting

I put three generous sprays on my neck and one or two on my left wrist (I wear my watch on my right) and it was INSTANT heaven. What an amazing first impression this makes on you, and what a wonderful combo of notes this offers up, verdant, semi-ripe green notes, crunchy violet candy and sweet musk -- I love it! Just when I got back home, my lady caught whiff of it and said "we need to talk about your perfume", and she does NOT like it, unfortunately. That's okay, I'm halfway through packing a suitcase and Tinder is near downloaded, so I'll be okay! I do love this scent, it's sweet-floral dainty, and with slight traces of Johnson and Johnson "No more tears" shampoo -- there's a HOM violet scent that smells the same, too -- but it doesn't distract or detract. All in all, a wonderful scent I'll need to wear when the lady isn't around, but other than that, massive LOVE.

The secret treasure in Baruti’s catalog. One of the greenest offerings out there, and is perfect for rainy spring and summer days/nights as well as a change-of-pace scent for cold winter days. Difficult to be in a bad mood when wearing this one - brings to mind barefoot morning walks in the grass. Though not as room-filling as other Barutis (Perverso and Chai come to mind), it *might* overpower if you go heavy, so give it a couple of test runs before committing. All in all, this is an excellent perfume that deserves your attention, especially if you’re looking for a standout green scent that isn’t what everyone else is wearing.
