1958

1958 is the smell i have always had in the back of my brain since i was a little child. Something from a past life I have been trying to recreate, in feelings, memories, the plants i have grown in my garden... well, Mathieu put it in a bottle. I suppose to some people this would just be a well-executed freshie, well-rounded and balanced. But it is so much more: It is my 3 favourite things: bergamot, lavender and rosemary. It is mediterranean grasses in high summer parching under the sun. It is memories of an unencumbered childhood and youth. Love and buy! Bastide has created one of the best fragrance lines i have smelled in recent years. All offerings are excellent (Rose, Nue, Figue and 1958 are standout to me!) all are casual, sporty outdoor scents (none of them are really for dress up, for evenings, etc. though ‘Fig Amour’ is ‘serious’). I would like to own 3 or maybe even 4 of them. Wow Mathieu Nardin!

So first of all, i'm kinda new to the fragrance world, but i'll try to do my best to give a honest revuew In a nutshell: i'm disappointed with this fragrance I bought a 10ml to test. I spray it on me 5 times (on my chest, behind my ears) and i get a nice smell of citrus fruit. A really pleasant one, not too strong, and I wouldn't say it's "generic" ; i would love to scent this on other people and until this day i haven't The citrus is mixed with something else, to me it's lavander but as my nose is not very experimented i cannot tell for sure. Anyway, the combination is really enjoyable. The thing is : 2-3 hours on and it's GONE. I just can't smell it, i tried to put a lotion on my skin, didn't work. I tested the spray-on-clothes : didn't work. The fragrance is washing off waaay too fast for me to rate it any higher than "meh" //////// TLDR : [+++] + = Perfectly unisex. I say it as a man. I could see a woman wearing it too + = A really nice combination of citrus and something else, i guess lavander + = Less important but I like the colors and the form of the bottle, it's simple and not overly complicated [---] - = way too pricey if you want to test it. 30€ for a bottle of 10ml, it's just not worth it. Sadly, the test-box is not available on the website. The 100ml's price is fair (110€) - = DOESN'T LAST, at least on my skin. This is a huge disappoinment because i really like the scent As i'm new, there's maybe something i'm doing wrong so take this review with a pinch of salt. I'm looking towards Neroli Lumière, which i bought as a test too.
