Birch & Eucalyptus

I'm not much of a fragrance enthusiast, but I like good smells, so I decided to check a few things out. This was my introduction to colognes: I bought it from my local Bath & Body Works because I sampled it in the store and really liked how it smelled, and it was relatively cheap. I have since sampled around a dozen different big name fragrances, including Eros, Explorer, La Nuit de l'Homme, Luna Rossa Black, Bleu de Chanel, and Dior Sauvage. None of them were as good as this. They smelled too ... "cologne-y", for lack of a better term. They mostly offered a particular mix of fragrances that I only ever associate with men's cologne. And for the most part, I don't really like the smell of men's cologne. I like the smell of flowers, and pine wood, dragon's blood incense, and vanilla, and petrichor. And while some of the big-name fragrances actually smelled like a pleasant combination of individual fragrances that I like, most of them ended up amalgamating into something completely different from its individual parts. This fragrance is not like that. It smells like an evergreen forest, like a Christmas tree. It's bright and fresh and minty and simple and I love it. Does it last very long? No, and I guess that's its biggest shortcoming. The scent will exist on your body for several hours, but it'll stop projecting after an hour. Does it have a complex profile? No, but I don't necessarily want a complex profile. Giorgio Armani's "Stronger With You" had a complex profile, and I hated it. Does it have heavy silage? No, but again, I don't really want that. I want to smell good, not loud. Besides, I work in an office; I don't need people noticing that I have cologne on.

This is my dear husband's signature fragrance and I absolutely love this on him. It opens aromatic and herbaceous and dries down to a handsome woodsy masculine scent. Since this is discontinued, it's becoming more difficult to keep up with having backups on hand. It also had a coordinating body moisturizer which is even more difficult to find now.

My son has this cologne. We got it half off for $20, so I was thrilled. This definitely doesn’t last long enough for the full price tag. However, I love this scent. I don’t really agree with the notes votes. To me, this smells like a mellow shave gel with a slight sweet dry down. It definitely is a man scent, but I like it so much, I can see someone who is more into unisex perfumes wanting to wear it. It isn’t as sweet as my husband’s YSL Y edt, but that is exactly why my son wanted this. He said it reminded him of that cologne. This is a nice fresh, light scent.

Scent is Good for the gym and for my job (hospital).
